This place is so big and cute but the food is so average. I ordered a double vodka cran and it came as pure vodka. I don't think the bartender understands English. I had the posole. Normally you can't go wrong with posole because it is an easy soup to make. But this restaurant makes the driest posole I have eaten. Snd the broth is rather bland. The pork is way too chewy and thick, no fat and tendons in it. It comes with no garnishes 1/5. I will not come back to this restaurant. read more

We visited on a busy night and unfortunately, the service really struggled to keep up. After being seated, we were left unattended for a long time before anyone took our order, and our food arrived quite late. We chose to sit outside, and the patio itself has a really nice vibe and setup. However, it was overrun with too many bugs, which made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the evening. As for the food, it was overall just okay. The flavors were decent, but my main complaint is the temperature, everything arrived on the warm side, and I really wish it had been served hot, especially when asked for Fajitas- after the long wait. It's a beautiful spot with potential, but they definitely need more staff to handle busy hours and better pest control for the outdoor seating. read more

Desserts, drinks, and beautiful architecture are definitely worth going back for. Inside and outdoor seating are equally gorgeous; can't go wrong either way. Entrees were alright (crab enchiladas were not my favorite but the beans and corn served alongside were delicious). I loved the variety in drinks and the piñon sprinkled on the ice creams. We came for Valentines. Brought my 83 yr old dad. It was amazing! Chocolate cake, flan and the best food! Jorge was a great server! He makes great margaritas and is actually a bar tender too. This is a very authentic place. We had good service. We started with the tablesiide guacamole. I prefer my guacamole with less "stuff" in it, to better taste the avocado, and it was very salty. Alternating bites of salsa helped. We then shared the crab enchiladas, husband liked. I guess i prefer my crab so that it's the star, not with a lot of cheese. Lovely restaurant in Santa Fe, NM! My husband is in Santa Fe for a long work project, so I tagged along with him for a few days. Nearby, there aren't a lot of restaurants but I found this one on Yelp. Front desk clerk also said it was very good, so we decided to check it out. Came during an off hour, around 3pm, which was probably a good time, since they were still busy but not as busy as I'm reading peak times can be, according to Yelp reviews. Very comfy interior, very pleasant. We read that the fresh guacamole is the highlight here, which my husband was looking forward to. A lady came to our table with a cart and made fresh guac in front of us. It was like a cooking lesson too. :) Now we know how to make fresh guac at home. :) I got the carnitas burrito and husband got the Puerto Vallarta. We ended up sharing the Puerto Vallarta and saving the burrito for my lunch the following day. The Puerto Vallarta was delicious! The chicken, shrimp and cheese were wonderful, paired with the rice. The prickly pear lemonade was pretty good also. Met the manager as well as his family member (I can't remember if it was his sister or cousin?)---both were extremely welcoming and kind. They even gave us some flan to celebrate my husband's birthday. There's a lovely outdoor patio area, which seemed very popular. We opted for an interior table, so we didn't have to worry about flies (though there was one pesky one hovering around us). They're closed on Tuesdays but we can tell this place must be very popular with locals and visitors! Highly recommended if you're in the area. read more

Great food! Nice find while we were on vacation in Los Alamos. Many restaurants there were closed.

Came with friends, this time we ordered the guac, fresh made by the table so you can customize it, we added extra jalapeño into it to have a bit more kick. The crab enchiladas are really good, but they do have cilantro mixed inside the crab meat, be aware for people don't eat cilantro because they are not just on the top. The service was really good, our waitress is very nice. Make sure to order their fountain drink, we had the melon drink it was very refreshing for hot summer read more

A true hidden gem with a beautiful courtyard that creates an authentic and inviting ambiance. The service was friendly and attentive, the food and drinks were excellent, and both the salsa and tableside guacamole were highlights. I got the Platonde Carnitas - pork well seasoned, served on a sizzling skillet, and plentiful - excellent. We went to Gabriel's for my Husbands Birthday with friends while we were visiting Santa Fe. We did make a reservation and were sat fairly quick. We sat outside on the patio and it was a beautiful. We were checked on multiple times, making sure that we had everything that we needed. They were very nice and would come by the table and make conversation with us. The food , drinks and conversation were amazing. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Santa Fe next year. read more

The guy that I had spent more time at the POS computer flirting with a female staff member. He did not bother to check on his tables. I asked for a menu to decide on a dessert. 15 mins and he had not come by. When he finally pried himself away from the female, I had waited long enough. I just wanted my bill and leave. Wow! The very first restaurant we ever ate at when we first visited Santa Fe, Gabriel's is still our super happy go-to treat whenever we overnight north of Santa Fe. All of the meals are outstanding! We absolutely adore the fresh delicious table side guacamole (def come hungry or bring friends!!!!) I love that the impeccable guacamole artists can tweak ingredient amounts to your taste (for us? A lil' more garlic & jalapeños ) superb! The carne asada is so flavorful & piping hot in whatever dish we choose. Carne asada burrito, steak salad and especially the fajitas! Thanks to all the bar team all the drinks are super yummy especially our Spicy margaritas! We are always so impressed by the entire service team. If you're returning from Bandelier national monument back to Santa Fe, stop at Gabriel's for a well deserved margarita and guacamole. Outdoor patio seating was mostly covered and shielded from sun and wind, yet still allowed for views of the surrounding mountains. Guac was made to order at table for $18, chips tasted fresh. They had an entire page of margarita options and you really can't go wrong. We also enjoyed the flan, it was strangely bright in color. read more

Stop here for our 14th anniversary but it was not as good as the 1st time! Brought 2 boys and they said the food was mediocre the only item they really enjoyed the tableside guacamole. The older grandson says the ribs were very dry and not appetizing! So the boys were not pleased. So overall the guacamole got the two stars! We were recommended to visit Gabriel's while visiting Santa Fe and I am glad we did. The building is huge so there is a lot of room for larger parties and the style is very classic. We loved that there is a guacamole cart that is pushed around to make fresh guacamole for each table that orders it. With our table being just 2 people, we didn't want to order a huge bowl of guacamole. Our waiter offered a side of guacamole that was the perfect amount for us. And by us, I mean me because I ate every drop of guacamole. It was fresh and the perfect texture with onions and tomatoes intermixed. We both ordered virgin margaritas and were very happy with them. They had a little bit of carbonation which was a fun addition. My boyfriend ordered the carne asada burrito Christmas style and ate the whole thing. He gave it a 8/10 because "It wasn't above and beyond". I ordered the combination plate with a pork tamale and a chicken enchilada. It was great! It came out very hot which I can always appreciate. This happened to be the closest restaurant to our hotel so we came for dinner. It also happened to be Mother's Day and this place was packed. Being travelers, we didn't know about Gabriel's or have reservations. We're just glad that we didn't have to wait for a table. They have a large dining area and large patio. We had a table for two that was tucked away in a corner and of course they forgot about us and after a long wait we asked to see our waiter. I had a combo plate: taco, enchiladas rice and beans, can't remember what hubby got, but our food was tasty and flavorful. In our little corner, there was another couple, they re local and said that this place is always busy, we had a lovely time chatting with them as we were all waiting for service. By the time we got food and our bill, the madness had died down considerably. I noticed that all the moms get a rose when they leave. ( Yes, I've got one too). That was a nice touch. And our waitress was apologetic. I would love to come on a normal day to try out other things on the menu but that has to wait until we're in town next time. read more

Expensive while underwhelming & average at best 2nd time this year, we ate here; two other couples just had to go, so we came back. Again, the food is fine but a bit underwhelming and rather expensive. You can get much better food of this genre in town for less money. I had the Los Cabos Fajitas, and for $27, I expected a lot better. Sizzling? No, but the dried-out chicken and about 5 shrimp need more flavor, along with under-sizzling vegetables. The Fajitas at, say, Los Amigos for $12 is superior, and I could name half a dozen others who do this dish better and for far less money. My wife had the Chile Relleno's for $19.95; fine, nothing special, again, $16 at Los Amigos, better. Gauc for the table (our friends had to have it) was good, but $17 is not worth "the show" or the end results. Service was just OK, one guest had to keep asking for dinner ware to the point he just got up and found his own. At the last meal, we sat outside, which was lovely, but this month, the patio closed due to the cold, so we sat inside; it's not as nice there; loud and a bit cramped. Considering the long drive, adequate only food, and high prices, I don't think we will return. You can do better closer, for less money, at many other NM Restaurants in town. read more

I wasn't sure if I should post this, but the service at Gabriel's has gotten so bad. I also heard the business has new owners, so it kinda makes sense now. I went in to eat and ordered a combination plate with a taco as part of the plate. When I got my order, I received a tamale not a taco. Not a big deal. I can eat a tamale happily. I was eating my chips and salsa and almost done with my water before anything else even came out. I ordered an alcoholic drink and was hoping for a water refill, since my glass was empty before my other drink or food came out. I was only checked on once after I ordered. I was asked if I wanted a water refill and I said yes. They took my cup and thats the last time I saw my water cup. So I'm sitting there drinking alcohol and thirsty and no water. I decided just to get my check, pack my food, and leave. I pack up my food and grab the left over chips. I grab it by the parchment paper and transfer it all to my to go box. I close my box and look down at the bowl that my chips were in and see that there's left over rice and a pea on the bottom of the bowl. This means I was served chips out of a dirty bowl with someone else's food in it. At that point, I couldn't in good conscience take my left overs home, since the bottom of the parchment paper touched that old food and was now touching my new food in my to go box. That's so disgusting. It also seems like when I go in and sit by the bar, I'm always forgotten about. I do tip well and will even tip extra if the staff is friendly and checks on me. Over a year ago I was at the restaurant and no joke I saw a roach on the wall by the tables. I let the manager know and hoped it was a one off and decided to give the restaurant one more try a year later and then these new things happen. I can't go back at this point. read more

We finally tried Gabriel's after three years of hearing great things about the place. I'm glad I did. The restaurant has tons of outdoor seating . There is indoor seating as well, but I always prefer outdoor seating when it's available. There is covered seating and seating in a beautiful courtyard with a fountain. The service was very attentive and friendly. The food came out quickly and without any issues. All the food was cooked perfectly with great flavor. We ordered fish tacos, ribs, and chimichanga to share. I was very happy with all three items. The portions are good and we ended up packing some to go. After the meal, we sat on the bench in the garden to enjoy the views. The area would be great to enjoy a post meal drink. I will definitely return and recommend Gabriel's. read more

A fun place on the side of the highway. Gabriel's is huge with tons of seating and servers. Their house margarita was delicious. We also got the guacamole which is made at the table. It was good but I wish you could try it and ask for more ingredients if you wanted it. He made it then left our table without us trying it. This was my third time going to Gabriel's since I live out of state. I was really looking forward to it because it was so good in the past. But this time was different. Service left something to be desired. Table next to us received their drinks etc even though they were seated after us. Took quite awhile to get our drinks. Then another long wait to order. Food finally arrived and it was ok but we didn't have silverware or plates and had to ask for those. Waiter spilled cheese all over the floor. Not a little bit but a large amount. Enough that other diners and another waiter stared at the mess and the waiter made a remark but didn't clean it up. No big deal but with everything else it was another irritating thing. Had chicken fajitas that were ok but not outstanding in any way. Kinda of a blah experience. Don't know if I'd ever go back but it could have been a really off night. read more

Service for lunch was abysmal (we came at an off hour so it wasn't at all busy) with the waiter forgetting to bring things we asked for (water refill, lemonade, hot sauce...). Tortilla chips were hot and crispy, though, and came with a good salsa with a nice bit of heat! I ordered a combination plate with a tamale and beef enchilada. Pork was dry in my tamale although the masa was good. At least it was very well filled--I only had a taste before packing it away for another day, since the plate was pretty large. My enchilada came with a plentiful portion of beef with plenty of cheese and green chile on top (although I'd asked for Christmas). Rice was a bit dry but still tasty and beans were good. Sopapilla was freshly fried but came very late in the meal and was rather bland and yeasty--one member of the group said it was not a good example of a sopapilla. Guacamole, I was told was just okay, and a measly portion for $17. Ribs were very tender and tasty, though, and came with maybe 8 or 9 babyback ribs. This place was recommended to us by our neighbor who is from NM. We have always seen the sign when we are in Sante fe as we often play or stay at the Hilton Buffalo Thunder or Cities of Gold Hotel and Casino but you can't see the restaurant from the highway only the sign. As we were hungry and couldn't make up our mind where to eat, actually we wanted a something but we didn't know what so this was close and they were open. Located off the frontage road hidden by trees it's like a little hidden secret. They offer both inside and outside dining and the outside is lit up by little string lights and it's pretty romantic but there are quite a bit of tables. So privacy isn't so much there but it's a nice vibe from what we could tell. We sat inside as that was was the first available. The inside had a southwestern feel, but honestly the restaurant closed in an hour and the staff was rushing around like they had to hurry everything. I felt rushed and on the edge of uncomfortable but maybe it was just me. Our waiter greeted us and than was scarce after that. On to the food. We had guacamole freshly made at our table which was a treat , and also chips and salsa. Both were delicious. For our main i had slow cooked ribs and my wife chose a combination plate. Both were delicious. At the end of our meal once again our waiter was no where to be found so we walked up to the front and asked the manager if he could help us with paying our bill. He didn't look very happy about that because he kinda looked around for our waiter and kinda shook his head. The reason I am giving it 5 stars is because of the food and ambience. And the personalized making of the guacamole at our table. I believe if we would have gotten there earlier our experience would have been much more enjoyable and relaxed.
