The vibes of Gabriela's are fun and Instagram worthy. I love how it brings me back to my hometown in miami. However, the music can be a bit too loud which makes it difficult to have conversations and fun times with whomever you're with. The food is good, but it's not out of this world. I enjoy coming here and will continue to come for the experience and good times. read more

Stopped by during their Sunday Brunch with live music & drink specials. Their mimosa towers were $10 and margaritas were $5. I got the queso birria taco plate and it was very filling. The server was also attentive. We used Lyft to get here parking seemed to be a little difficult in the area. Food was good and I would be back. The music was a little loud so you do have to yell if you're talking to someone. read more

Really cute place. Thought it was closed because the front gates were padlocked but went around the side. We started with the salsa sampler. Not sure if I would consider any of them salsa but they did have good flavor. The dark red is rather spicy. I got the chili enchiladas and my husband got the burrito with steak. Both were very good. Not a huge fan of the beans but I tend to lean more towards black beans in general. Overall good lunch spot. read more

The place is, as the kids say, mid. I really don't know where to begin this review without it being entirely negative. From what I gathered from my experience, it seems the place is lacking staff and management. I arrived with my family, a party of four, and waited nearly an hour to be sat. Once we sat we ordered everything immediately, and still had to wait another 45 min to get our food and drinks. I ordered the enchiladas de tinga, and felt they lacked freshness. The sauce had a thick consistency and tasted like sour cream and onion dip, not to mention, was a bit cold. If I could make a safe recommendation, it would probably be the tacos. My daughter and husband seemed to enjoy them. The presentation of the micheladas looked nice. However, the fruit that was placed on my husband's michelada looked a bit old. The shrimp that was placed on top on mine tasted like defrosted shrimp with no flavor. The place itself feels like a small house that needs repainting. Yes, they have nice art, which is appreciated, but the interior walls clearly need to be cleaned. There was one single bathroom, which I could definitely see being an issue on busier days. read more

Hands down! One of the best shrimp tacos I've had in a long time! Shrimps were huge and fried perfect with an extra crunch. Tortillas were hand made and the pickled slaw was excellent on top. Birria tacos also great! read more

This place was alright, didn't really impress me much but the best part was probably the prices! I got a huge drink that came in those plastic containers which was fun, overall their menu has a lot of fun drinks and even cool cups that you can keep depending on the drink you order. They had pretty cute decorations for Christmas. We came on a Friday and there were tons of open seating so I doubt you ever have to wait. Outdoor patio probably has better vibes if it's not too cold for you to sit outside with the heaters! The guac was way too spicy I couldn't handle it :') The food came out pretty quickly and service was okay! We missed happy hour but the happy hour menu looked pretty good so I recommend coming then. It's a nice place to grab a quick bite to eat or a few drinks to pregame before a night out. read more

This location makes it a great spot before your night out on sixth! The drinks are sugary but still good. There is a variety of drinks and food to chose from. I got the shrimp tacos and they weren't as flavorful/seasoned as I would like it to be but I would still order them. The rice and refried beans were good! read more

Came at happy hour ordered off the happy hour menu but turns out they gave me something else! Bill came out to $100 for 8 street tacos, horchata, margarita, aqua fresca, salsa sampler(chips & salsa). Need to be more specific with their items! Also get some fly/nat traps! Have to worry about swatting flies and nats as you eat! Server was able to give me a discount after going back and forth , with attitude. Food was good tho. Wouldn't recommend the horchata or pineapple aqua Fresca. Horchata has too much cinnamon it's over powering. Pineapple aqua Fresca tasted like rotten pineapple ( made me throw up, I'm pregnant) Also watch out when pulling in major deep potholes. Might mess up your tire & alignment read more

To-go review: I called in my order over the phone and was told the food would be ready in a 10 minutes. They prepare the food pretty quickly. As I'm waiting at the bar for my food, I see these drinks being made. Oh my!! Those drinks looked amazing so I'm going to have to come back just to try the drinks. The food was delicious!!!! I ordered enchiladas but it has some type of sauce on top of it that I've never had before that made all of the difference in those enchiladas. The beans and rice were just okay; they weren't anything to rave about. I actually didn't finish the beans and rice because I didn't like them, but the enchiladas were definitely good! Every bite of the enchiladas, I was thinking 'oh my goodness this is so good'. I don't believe there's on-site parking because I had to park at the gas station next door and walk over to pick up the food so you'll mostly likely have to find a spot on the street. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! Was super excited to go and when we got there it quickly went downhill. Sat for 20 minutes without being greeted and once we were served Frida hardly came back, had to get our own silverware & napkins. Since we were a large party it was instant gratuity of $80 which thought wasn't deserved since the waiter came twice. When we asked to talk to the manager he said he was going to call the cops. read more

Parking lot probably the worst I've ever tried parking in for a restaurant. Also hard to walk in. Definitely don't wear heels you're on a steep incline. Restroom was pretty disgusting too & could be fixed up better. We ordered the salsa flight and margarita flight at the bar where the AC leaked on us the whole time and the bartender made it feel like we were inconveniencing him Definitely tasted like cheap tequila makes up the flight margaritas they also weren't that great of a flavor. However salsa flight was really good, chips were awesome. The ceviche was good too. Overall I feel like this place is hyped up way more than what it's worth. Probably wouldn't be back if I was in town for an event again. Rather pay for "scenic" vibes and picture worthy drinks at Taquero Mucho. read more

You ever have to choose between two things and then kind of regret not knowing what the second option had to offer? Yeah this was my experience. Parking was kind of weird considering this place looked kind of dead from the outside but there was a concert going on so this side of Austin was kind of busy The service, like I'm coming to find in most places in Austin was lacking. But I mean, whatever. The sodas come in cans and they serve tap water which makes me believe that this is mostly a cocktail establishment. They looked fine but I was there for food. I want to highlight the star of the show which was the queso flameado with chorizo. Oh my god. Gabriela put her foot in that However as far as everything else goes. It was fine, but missing something, which is sad considering that everything smelled SO GOOD! I'd love to come back and check out their happy hour and order like 10 more quesos. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect from Gabriela's South Austin, but I had a nice time. I highly recommend grabbing a table on the back patio for the full experience. The music (there was a dj), lights, and decor set a great vibe! The waiter was incredibly busy, but still pleasant and answered all my questions. Food: The food was better than anticipated. I got the steak tacos on flour tortillas. It came with rice, beans, and a side of salsa. I'm not running back for the food, but I'd be willing to order from the menu again. It's tasty enough. The steak was pretty flavorful. Other: The parking is awful. Be prepared to park on the surrounding streets with metered parking. There is a ton of construction happening next to the restaurant, so it's easy to overlook it. read more

Fun place to eat! It was Sunday at like 8 pm and they still had a lively DJ. That was a lot of fun. The decor is so cool- if you're a bad bunny fan this is a must try for you! Food was good and quite heavy which is good to wash down the strong drinks you're having haha. The parking situation is rough- come ready to get drunk and Uber! read more

We came here for apps and drinks on a Sunday afternoon - and I am surprised to read positive reviews. The restaurant was uncomfortable - very cold and the music would be so loud you couldn't speak and then would go completely silent over and over. The overall decor was not pleasant either. We ordered drinks, salsa, and guacamole. The guac had cilantro - and there was no option without, making it so one of our friends could not enjoy it at all. The salsas were fine - but quite creamy, which is not usually how I enjoy my salsa. Overall, was disappointed mostly by the uncomfortable atmosphere. read more

Lovely service, cute, vibrant decor, good food and drinks, and reasonable prices...what more could you ask for? My friends and I ate here as part of a bachelorette party trip. The restaurant went above and beyond bringing the bride-to-be a sparkler candle in her drink without even being asked, such a nice added touch! I recommend the margarita flight as a great way to test all their delicious drinks! read more

The vibes here are incredible! Expect to be transported to a bumping club as you're eating. Salsa sampler was good, queso was delicious, and everyone enjoyed the mains. Plenty of vegetarian options, and a good spot to take a group of people. Parking is limited, but they do have complimentary valet. Fun party atmosphere + good food = happy crowd!! read more

Gabriela's was such a fun spot for fun, drinks, pictures and fun. We loved all of the fun cocktails including their strawberry frozen margarita in a whole pineapple (firework for the bride). The margarita flights were a huge hit with the group but 1/4 the group didn't seem to enjoy so much. I got a quesadilla which was yummy and standard. It came with a lot of toppings and sides which was nice. We also loved the queso and the endless free chips. read more

Came here with a coworker for lunch and what a cool spot! The view of the Austin skyline at Gabriela's is gorgeous and the overall vibe of the restaurant is very fun and earthy. Our food was awesome! We got the chips and salsa which were all very good and my avocado cream enchiladas were great. The beans and rice that came with it were also amazing. My coworker got the shrimp aguachiles and really enjoyed it but said it was super spicy just fyi. The service was just subpar when we went but overall we had a great time. read more

Didn't get food but the drinks were good! They were super busy but staff was still pretty attentive. Beautiful decorations all around, definitely an instagramable spot. Caprichosa- Gabby's, Mangonada, Strawberry, Paloma The Paloma was absolutely delicious; didn't think I would like it but was probably my favorite. Mangonada was also a high favorite. Wasn't that big a fan of the strawberry. Gabby's was SUPER strong. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a place with good music and drinks! read more

Every time I come here, I'm blown away. The food and drinks are phenomenal. Life hack: come at odd times to avoid the wait. Example: Saturday at 10pm is perfection. (They are open til midnight) We basically had the entire patio to ourself and there was a DJ so it felt like a private party. They have heaters outside so you won't be cold (in the few weeks a year it's cold in Austin) The Miche-Helada Pop is seriously the best of the best. A little spicy and so delish. We went to town on the cheesy goodness that is the Choriqueso. Can't wait to be back soon. read more

Walked here while I visiting family in the hospital. Service was lagging a bit. There were not a lot of people dining and I think the staff were having fun with eachother. Food was good, tacos dorados were fresh. Got the sense my server was disappointed I did not get a drink. I was tired of waiting for her when I finished my food so I left cash on the table and walked out, not something I usually do. The restaurant is very charming with a fun interior color and decor. The restaurant itself isn't located downtown but is very close to it. From what I can see, there isn't parking on the main street. We loved the salsas sampler with varying heat and having different tastes. There wasn't a wait when we went for brunch on a Saturday. Got the birria quesadilla and if you love cheese, definitely get it over the tacos. There's additional toppings to add to the birria including cilantro and diced onions. read more

5/5! Food, service, ambiance We visited for the first time and made it to happy hour. We ordered shrimp ceviche, mini street tacos, frozen house marg, and michelada. Wow, we love it here. Items we ordered were great and my husband loved his michelada! This restaurant is very cute-casual. I appreciate the neon signs, all the colorful outdoor and indoor decor with the touch of plants/greenery. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is covered with enough space and fans running for a tolerable time. Parking was limited and on gravel. It's a little hidden and located behind and to the side of the restaurant. The front room as I mentioned is an intimate bar and lounge area with artwork adorning the walls. It's a modern, minimalist, and sleek space. The artwork is ever-changing (every couple of months or so) and the cocktail menu changes right long with it. Note: artwork is available for purchase. What an absolutely glorious way of combining different mediums (liquid art vs physical art). The craft cocktails & mocktails are the epitome of works of art. I've had great cocktails and mocktails elsewhere but honestly I'd be hard pressed to find anything on this level. You're taken into an entirely different realm just watching the genius of mixologists. It's mesmerizing watching them hone their craft. In the back of the lounge is an enclave of eclectic art and other pieces that then leads you to Konbini, the sushi bar. He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

The birthday girl ordered a hookah and it took an hour and a half for it to come out. Then we were not checked on for about an hour, We finally ordered more drinks and then we never received them, We asked three different servers and were told several times that they were taking care of it and it was never taken care of, We left at 1:15 without ever getting our additional orders. One of the servers told us that the bar was crazy busy and that they were probably making our drinks and people at the bar were just taking them. So chaotic. We were finally helped by Heaven and Summer at the end around 1:00 a.m. when we asked to pay for our tab. Of course the tab was all wrong because it had all of the drinks we ordered that we never received. Again, chaotic. I felt bad for the birthday girl because she was really excited about being there for the first time with all of us and the experience was subpar at best. I absolutely loved my margarita. It was served in a pineapple and had an amazing taste! We ordered an appetizer (choriqueso) and while it tasted great, it was super tiny, expensive, and definitely not enough to share with anyone. The waitress was not very nice either. We were a bigger party (10 people) and she said she would not split our checks in more than 4 ways, and continued to say that she was only going to take 4 peoples cards to pay and was not going to accept any more. It also felt like she would forget about us. She would forget to bring us water and would never come to see if we needed anything. The manager took a water cup out of my friends hand and threw it away, because it was a McDonald's cup. While I loved the drink and the flavor of the appetizer, the prices are quite steep for the sizes and the staff needs to take some customer service classes. I will NOT be back. read more

5 star review all around! Authentic rice made just the way my momma made it growing up, which I have not found in any other Mexican restaurant in town. Tight quarters inside, but if you can get a seat outside with a beautiful downtown view, it is totally worth it. Drinks were amazing "tamarindo margarita" . What topped it all off was having an awesome waiter "Loyd" who made great recommendations. On top of that, he was funny and engaging and truly was enjoying himself while taking care of our table. Will definitely be coming back with more friends and whole family. Will highly recommend to my Mexican and non-Mexican friends!!! read more

Highly recommend to anyone in the downtown area, especially Sunday brunch. I made a last minute reservation for a brunch with 15 people. When we got there we asked to be moved to back patio where there is music, staff was very friendly and change was made quickly and with no hesitations. Weather was nice for outdoor eating. Environment is casual but fun with great music and has a very beautiful view of Austin skyline . Very cute "media naranja" mural for those of us that love to take pictures. Strawberry margarita served frozen and served on a pineapple. My husband and I shared the choriqueso and he had tacos de asada. My husband also had a Michelada pop. A Michelada popsicle served with a cold beer. Super unique and refreshing. Staff is very friendly. Loved everything from the moment I walked up the steps. There are a couple of tables out in the front with a great view, perfect for good weather days. A back patio is also available. You must try Gabby's margarita, has to be the best margarita I've ever had, was wowed on the first sip. None of the drinks lack alcohol so drink carefully. My dad and I went here for brunch today and we had the best experience ever !!! Lloyd the waiter was so hands on and went above and beyond telling us about the weekly specials and happy hour specials they have. SO helpful even though he wasn't actually serving us ! And Jonathan the bartender / our server was more than helpful and had no problem tell us about the drinks and answering any questions we had ! My boyfriend and I was in here at least twice a week. The meals seem more like appetizers. My food, aguachiles, was so flavorful and delicious, and it was not as spicy as I am accustomed to but that's probably best for other people. Every bite of the shrimp was flavorful. The drinks are super strong and the margarita in the pineapple is super cool and delicious. The drinks are delicious, a bit pricey.
