It doesn't have to be this way!!!! Recently I went into this new location to check out the Gabby's vibe and have lunch. I had never been into a Gabby's and was excited that a pub fare type of restaurant was open in the junction. Unfortunately, Gabby's fits a typical pub pattern. This pattern assumes that people just want beer (or that the money is made from beer), and the quality of the food doesn't matter. I had a burger with onion rings. It was small and flavorless. The bun was a bit stale. The onion rings were stuck together just as they had been in the freezer. The lettuce was limp. The burger was 12-13$. I am not against chains. In fact, you can have a much better burger with fries and a coke at Wendy's for about 1/2 the price. unfortunately, there is not a Wendy's very close by. Gabby's may be good for a beer, but stay away from the food until you have had at least three beers. It is a shame that this place doesn't seem to care about good food. It has a good pub formula, just typically not-so-good pub food.

Gabby's has the only consistent hours and late night kitchen in the western half of the Junction. Unlike some of the other bars in the area, they are open until 2:00 a.m. and their kitchen is open until last call. The beer selection is your typical sports bar stuff from the big brewing companies like Moosehead, Molsons, etc. - which is fine - as other bars in area cater to the craft beer crowd. The place has a great back patio that is open until 2:00 am, and has a couple of large HDTV screens with proper HD signals feeding them. When the patio isn't open, the place is still large and is good for groups. Lots of TVs for viewing sports on as well, with good sight lines. Though some of the large TVs inside do not have proper HD signals feeding them, it still seems to be getting good clean digital standard definition signals though. I found the service to be attentive and the wing specials on Monday and Wednesday are good. I find the food at this location is very good for what it is essentially: American diner food. This place accepts credit, debit and cash. So I give it a four out of five because I've had only good experiences here. Definitely recommend it for late night eating and for watching sporting events.

Personally I am not the biggest 'chain' fan but the Gabbys in the Junction, specifically has always has decent food. Yes, service is slow but the service is decent considering they always short staff the place! Tried out their Mad Jacks Rootbeer and well what a lovely discovery that was Poutine is one of my faves and it's not bad here. $8 for a decent size and add $1 for your choice of chicken or ground beef--not bad! This location has a lovely patio in the back with 3 TVs and very comfortable seating. Inside, plenty of TVs to watch all your sporting desires. Go Jays Go!

I ordered basic chicken fingers and fries thru DoorDash and this is the first time I've ever seen chicken fingers go wrong. They fried it so much that it turned black. No only did it visually look unappetizing as in the picture the batter was rock hard, chicken dried out, no taste. I wonder if this is how it is always served or they felt it was ok to serve this since I am a DoorDash customer and couldn't complain in person. Not sure what the other menu items are like but chicken fingers are hard to mess up like this. What a waste of time, money and my dinner.

"how is everything?" I know I'm supposed to just automatically say "good",
They charged me for this dried out microwaved nonsense.

The ceasars are incredibly watered down and tasteless and the poutine had more gravy than fries.

Their drink menu is impressively broad, with a strong whisky selection from different regions, plus plenty of cocktails, spirits, and wine. I especially loved the Scotchman in Sidecar, which blends Té Bheag and Laphroaig with Cointreau and lemon. It had this really interesting balance of smoky peat and bright citrus. Naked and Famous was also great if you like something a little sharper and more refreshing, while the Mango Mojito leaned sweeter and easier to sip. The food was just as enjoyable. The Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas were probably my favorite part of the meal, with a chewy crust and really satisfying flavor. The Savory Peach from the summer specials was surprisingly good, especially with the spicy sauce on the side, and the Spicy Ropressata was another standout if you like something a little salty and bold. We also tried the Shepherd's Pie, which was warm, hearty, and comforting, and the oysters were fresh and good quality too. Overall, it feels like one of those cozy places that works equally well for drinks, a casual date night, or a laid-back evening with friends.

There's free parking on-site around the back (don't quote me on that) so TTC take the car, or whatever but get yourself down there and put in those ear plugs (available at the bar) and enjoy the show. The main floor has some funky video games in one part and a cool bar to drink at where you just can't be bored looking at the swag all around you and chatting with some cool characters that you won't find in the Financial District, that's for sure. Friendly bar staff will help you whet your whistle so no problem there and the beer isn't overpriced either. Upstairs is where the action is with a neat industrial looking stage that has the overhead grid system made of metal that give it a legit rock venue look, even though it's very small. The bar upstairs has canned beers only so no problem getting one of those and hanging out, with mostly standing room only with a couple tables for the boomers, this is one of the parts of Toronto that makes you feel like you're somewhere else, like Hamilton for example : )

It's a dimly lit, loud bar so I really don't see it being feasible to play these 4 hour high concentration games but whoever curated this collection has excellent taste.

I ordered the Burger of The mouth with a side of salad, while my friend ordered the Indie Fried Chicken Platter. I personally found the burger and salad to be quite delicious. The beef patty was juicy, with all sauces and ingredients complimenting each other nicely. My friend on the other hand, found the chicken a little dry, and the coleslaw warm, and soggy. The restaurant had a cozy laid back feel at this time, contrary to the loud and lively evenings. The hostess/server was attentive, friendly, and efficient. If you're a first time customer and undecided on which beer to choose, I encouraged you to try their Beer Flights which includes 5 oz. sample of 5 beers on tap. I love IPA's and Pilsner so I like ordering the Instigator & Marco Polo. Instigator, a West Coast IPA has a light honeyed sweetness with plenty of hoppy goodness. Quite malty but has well balanced and smooth tasting notes. The Marco Polo on the otherhand is a flavourful dry-hopped lager but super crisp and refreshing which is perfect for hot summer days. My SO who is into strong and dark ales swears how good their Zombie Apocalyse and Breakfast Porter. But the huge draw of me coming here is mainly how impressed I am of their food menu. They offer fresh and high quality dishes that doesn't taste like your clasic pub meals. I always order their Southern Fried Chicken since this is the best Southern Fried Chicken I've ever tried. The fried chicken is intensely flavourful and incredibly crunchy and pairs well with any of their beers. The Indie Burger is another one of my fave. This is your ultimate cheeseburger - two smashed beef patties that is juicy in every bite. Staff are also knowledgeable, friendly and will answer any questions you have about their beer offerings. Top notch chef, nice atmosphere and a wide range of pints to sample makes Indie Alehouse one of the city's top must visit locations for beer drinkers and foodies alike.
