First time coming into Luna and it has a nice old school feel to it, maybe about 20 seats inside? 10 in the front and probably another 10 in the back (never checked). The washroom is clean (super important). There is outdoor green P parking. The breakfast pricing in my opinion is a bit on the pricier side but at least the pricing is all in that similar range for each item. We ordered: Memories of St Denis The Alpha Omega Latte Fresh Juice : Pear Ginger Not sure why, but my girlfriend didn't enjoy her eggs much, I enjoyed them, it was good for me. I enjoyed my keto breakfast! The pear ginger juice was good, the ginger wasn't to strong, so if you're looking for a strong ginger taste you won't get that here, which depending on who you are is great or not what you want. I visited for brunch with a friend with very high expectations. Overall the food was pretty good. I got the smoked trout mash and the dish was well cooked and very hearty. They were having a busy day but service was still quick. However they brought me a straw for my iced coffee but forgot to give one to my friend. My main issue was with how hot the restaurant was. We visited on a very hot afternoon and I understand that a lot of older buildings may not have air conditioning. Some floor fans would've been nice. After a recent trip to Portugal, we lamented ever finding that level of fresh seafood and deliciousness in Toronto. Luna Junction is as close as we can get! We came on a whim for a Saturday night dinner and grabbed a seat in the empty dining area as everyone was in the patio out back. We started with their Romaine and Radicchio Salad and the Roasted Cauliflower on Hummus. The roasted cauliflower was delicious and paired perfectly with the hummus (something I will probably replicate in the future). The salad tasted like a ceaser salad, with it's lemon anchovy dressing but was much lighter and fresher. We followed with the Arroz de Tamboril e Mariasco (rice stew with monkfish, mussels and jumbo shrimp) and the Whole European Seabass. Both were absolutely delicious, with the rice stew being the star of the show. The stew took a while to come, but that is understandable as it is a large pot of food enough for 3. Just don't order when starving or it will be long wait. We ended the night with the homemade chocolate mousse tart. Fudgy, creamy and decadent.... the perfect end to the meal! read more

Luna Junction has been on my list of places to eat at forever! I'm so glad we stopped by for dinner and I already know I'll be returning for more. We ordered Spicy Portuguese Jumbo Shrimp, Fire Roasted Okra, Polvo a Lagareiro (Grilled Portuguese Octopus with Black-eyed Peas and rapini). Literally everything was mouth-wateringly delicious, cooked or charred perfectly, and with so much flavour. The Octopus I still dream about, it was 10/10 so soft and had generous portions. Came to Luna Junction with my friends for a delicious lunch! I got the breakfast shakshuka ($18) which consisted two organic eggs poached in a (not so) spicy pepper and tomato sauce with Merguez Lamb sausage, spinach, sheep's milk feta and fresh herbs with sourdough toast. This is the first time had lamb in a really long time and it was flavourful and not tough at all. I liked the slight kick from the pepper. Compared to the shakshuka I had before, this one was way more balanced, tasty, and fresh. I loved the sourdough toast as well but felt there wasn't enough bread (I'm a sucker for bread). For drinks, I got the iced hibiscus rose tea which I wasn't a strong fan of because of the hibiscus but that was on me. Their other drinks look more promising. Service was lovely! This is a review for their brunch. I came with a large group to celebrate a birthday. There was lots of street parking available in front of the restaurant. The restaurant itself isn't too big but they had enough room for us in the back. The kitchen is small though so they took our orders 5 at a time, resulting in members of our party eating at different times. I got the buttermilk pancakes with got chocolate. The pancakes were delicious and filling. The hot chocolate was good but not too sweet. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. The Salmon Benny look really good as well so I'll definitely try it next time I'm in the area! read more

Like all the best stories, this one begins with an octopus. While scouting for our next great dining adventure, my wife stumbled across Luna quite by accident. Drawn in by the stunning website imagery and the tantalizing Mediterranean fare, our fate was ultimately sealed by the sighting of a particular dish: Polvo a Lagareiro -- grilled Portuguese octopus with black-eyed peas, sautéed greens, and garlic herb pesto. With my wife's birthday celebration imminent, we had no choice but to give Luna a try and we were so glad we did! From the cosy, intimate atmosphere, to the friendly and efficient serving staff (thanks Kate!) to the warm and approachable owner, Tom, and his chef-wife Bernie, it was the perfect storm of dining pleasures. My wife did, indeed, have the Polvo a Lagareiro and I was allowed a taste; tender and well-seasoned, it did not disappoint! But don't feel too sad for me as I had chosen a winner of a dish for myself: Bitoque -- a 10 oz striploin topped with crispy prosciutto and a fried egg, served with a green salad. (For a small additional fee, I opted for the crispy potatoes instead of the sweet potato chips, but I don't think I could have gone wrong either way.) My steak was cooked to perfection -- medium rare, toward rare, just the way I ordered it -- and was well-seasoned in the best of ways. The prosciutto added a wonderful texture while the fried egg (a common Portuguese addition, I'm given to understand) lent the dish a certain indulgent richness. We had skipped the appetizer to ensure we had room for dessert (we can rarely work in three courses) and were not disappointed. My wife had the Lemon Cheesecake while I had the Chocolate Torte. Both offered the perfect amount of decadence on which to end our meal -- sated without being stuffed. And as we watched as patrons filled in the seats around us and quietly settled into Luna's abundant comforts, it suddenly became clear that this hidden gem had only been hidden from us, as the rest of the world seemed to be in on its secrets. But it's a secret no more and we will definitely be returning to sample more of Luna's treasures. A friend and I visited Luna Junction for the first time for lunch recently. The place is small, cosy and homey. We were greeted shortly after we walked in and told to choose any table to sit at. We were brought menus shortly thereafter. I ordered the peameal bacon sandwich and my friend ordered the smoked salmon sandwich. They arrived after only ten minutes and were each served on nice, crusty buns and accompanied with mixed greens salads. The salads were nice, albeit a little underdressed. However, the dressing had a light, citrus flavour and was quite good. The buns were lovely and fresh and there was plenty of filing in both. The washrooms are down a very steep staircase, but were clean and well-stocked. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we'd both be happy to return in the future. read more

Cute restaurant, nice area. I took a Lyft quite a distance to visit this restaurant. When I came in I was given certain areas to sit, since I was a party of 1. I ordered a cappuccino and was given a menu to order. I want to say I came in slightly when there was a rush because for me my service was a bit slow. I order pancakes and everyone around me that had ordered a bigger more detailed dish got their food and was done...I was still waiting, then I finally asked when my pancakes were coming out and it was on its way... just pancakes with fruit Nonetheless it was delicious and I must of come in at not an ideal time. The clientele that came in, looked like local and was a spot to go. Unfortunately this was my last day in town and I think if I were to choose again... I've been a big fan of Luna in Ossington for years now and was excited to see it open up again in the Junction. It's probably my favourite brunch place and nice to see that there is a dinner menu now as well. This new location has lots of seating, including a seating area in the back of the restaurant and a patio area which will be nice in the Summer. My friends and I ordered our usual faves: Peameal Benny, Salmon Benny and the Salmon Breakfast. Their smoked salmon is delicious and their potatoes served on the side with a salad is the perfect combination. I really really love coming here for lunch, breakfast, coffee, and laptop work sessions. The food is fresh and delicious and made with lots of love . The back has an outdoor sitting area that is nice in the summer time. Front area is great for coffee and working on your laptop. WiFi is good and there are outlets against the wall which are nice! One of my favorite options here is the Marinated Artichoke wrap! It is so refreshing, light, and incredibly tasty! The guac and goats feta in there makes it amazing! Seriously such a great option especially in the summer time when you want something light and cold. Marinated mushroom sandwich is a delicious option as well! It is also served cold. The Assortment of various marinated mushrooms are super tasty! This sandwich is a bit messier to eat and the bread is hard. Super yummy! I also enjoyed the chili lime chicken sandwich if you are looking for something heavier with protein! Shakshuka here is great! It's not the traditional Tunisian style, but it is so hearty and hot! So filling! The lamb Merguez is a type of Algerian sausage. Very tasty. Sometimes the spinach in there is chopped and sometimes it is whole. I do prefer it chopped up. Comes with some buttered toast and two poached eggs. It is so filling and really warms you up in the colder months! Brunch is delicious! I love that the eggs Benedict comes with both salad and home fries - you don't have to pick between the two :). Sometimes you get more home fries than other times...I do wish it was a bit more consistent in terms of portions. The smoked salmon Benedict is my favorite option! I have also had the avocado benny. It was yummy but missing a little something....I did add salt and pepper to that which I usually never do. Alpha omega is a great option if you want a protein rich breakfast! Two poached eggs with salmon and avocado! This kept me full for hours. I did have to pay for toast when I ordered this so keep in mind it doesn't come with toast but I can't really see myself personally eating this without toast! The eggs are poached after all :). Pancakes with fresh fruit were very homey and yummy! Personally wouldn't order these with all the other options available as I personally prefer savory. Their tea selection is plentiful and they are able to mix the loose teas if you'd like! Coffee is god as well! Service is usually good! I've come multiple times. I find at brunch the servers are a bit confused about the menu and are a little slow and clumsy...maybe it was their first day. I once came for brunch right on opening and was made to feel guilty by the chef for arriving at opening. She rudely told me "the kitchen is not open yet." I said I would wait and she rolled her eyes and walked away..it was a bit awkward but I come so often for the food and the waitress during the weekdays always greets me with a smile so I will let it slide and keep coming. Just avoid the weekend brunch these days. Overall, definitely recommend! Especially for lunch! I will try to come for dinner sometime as I heard it is very good! read more

Owner Bernadette Matos brings over 20 years of experience from Luna Cafe to open Luna Junction, a Mediterranean inspired restaurant. The space is cozy, but full of charm, seating 6 at three small tables at the front, and 17 at tables for 2, 3 and 4 at the back. A bar anchors the space between the front and back seating areas. Decor has nice touches, with a mid-century flair. Chairs are hard; cushions would be a nice addition. We started our meal with complimentary tremoços or Lupini Beans, signature Portuguese small bite-size salty treats. My first course was Baked Champfleury washed rind cheese with Spiced Pecans & Crostini. Champfleury is a white creamy soft cheese made of pasteurized milk and cream; the washed rind lends it a unique taste and texture. When it is baked, it is perfect enjoyed over crostini. The spiced pecans add a touch of sweetness; an additional fruity or sweet touch would have made it perfect. This appetizer serves two. The Roast Rack of Lamb with Smashed Potatoes, Asparagus & Salsa Verde was an outstanding main course. The lamb was perfectly cooked, tender, not too gamey. The asparagus was again perfectly cooked and seasoned, with a lovely texture. The salsa verde was complex in flavor and an excellent pairing to the lamb. I usually don't care about potatoes, but absolutely loved how these ones were prepared, lightly smashed, crispy outside and tender inside. Service was friendly. I like that they leave a carafe of water on the table, so patrons can help themselves, if they wish. Street parking is available. Dined in for Sunday brunch with my husband and baby. The restaurant was almost full house when we got there at 11:30 (glad that we made a reservation). We had Shakshuka, avocado scramble wrap, icee mocha with mint and passion fruit smoothie. Unlike usual shakshuka, it had a bit of spice and ground meat. What a superb meal we enjoyed at Luna! Their outdoor patio was ideal for one of the first warm summer evenings. Quiet, relaxing, and cozy. The octopus was the best I have had in Toronto. Asparagus was in season so also delicious. My wife enjoyed lucky lime oysters, grilled eggplant, and chicken liver. The pecorino white wine was a splendid accompaniment. The service was exceptionally pleasant, efficient, and attentive. This little restaurant is really cute. I came here for dinner to celebrate D's birthday with friends recently. I really like the ambiance of this restaurant - it is nicely decorated and although the space is long and narrow, I don't feel like it is overly cramped. i would describe the overall ambiance as warm and cozy. We had a baby and a toddler with our party and the server was so sweet, she had crayons and a little puzzle game ready for the kids. Enough of the decor and the space ... onward to the food. We order mainly from the Mains on the dinner menu. We ordered the Arroz de Tamboril e Marisco to share between 5 adults - this served as our appetizer. Then we each order a main on our own. I ordered the Not my Mother's Chicken, D ordered the Octopus dish, two friends ordered the Acorean Feijoada, and another friend ordered the Seafood Linguine. Now seeing the little one can't eat spicy, the server checked with the kitchen to see whether there were any spices in the Seafood Linguine. When the server came back and told us that there were spices in the Seafood Linguine, she also had an alternative proposal for us - the little one can have a small pasta dish himself with mushrooms. I have to say I was very impress with the level of service at this restaurant because most places that I have been too would check with the kitchen and respond to your questions but not necessarily have an alternative solution for you. I really enjoyed the Arroz de Tamboril d Marisco. It was hardy and great for a cold winter evening (and that evening was COLD). They didn't have muscles that evening so they substituted it with clams instead. The dish reminded me of the Spanish paella, just this one was a stew. I think I like the stew more than a paella. I also enjoyed my Not my Mother's Chicken dish that I ordered for my main. The chicken leg was so tender! In the menu it said that is have spicy pepper but I didn't really taste the spiciness, which is good for me because I am not too big on spicy. The potato was so creamy and fluffy! They have a Brunch service at this restaurant too - although the server told us that the weekend brunch menu has more items then the weekday brunch menu.
