It's one of those places that instantly brings back good memories and still hits the spot. The batter is super light and crispy, and it pairs perfectly with the chips and (definitely get extra) tartar sauce. A solid, comforting classic.

Ordered the halibut and chips. Very greasy and patches on the fish with no batter. Clearly someone missed a step here with cooking our meal or the oil wasn't hot enough or both. The sign outside visible off Hwy 7 that shows "Breakfast Special Only $5.95" is not outdated! This deal gets you an egg, 2 sausages, bacon, or ham,2 slices of buttered toast as well as some "homefries" which were just small cuts of potatoes (not your typical crunchy hashbrowns). They also offer breakfast poutine (pictured below) which are tater tots topped with cheese, green peppers and hollandaise sauce - a bit too rich for my liking but definitely tasty. Coffee is refillable. Plenty of parking as this plaza rarely gets busy. Breakfast items served until 2pm Their fish and chips are great as well. Nice, light batter compared with that of a traditional beer batter. Their tartar sauce could be better. It comes in those individual packets so not made fresh in house. They have daily specials - so gets busy on Sundays!

Friendly man takes my order quickly and the nice lady gets to work in the kitchen. I got a halibut and chips with some coleslaw. To go. The food comes out quick. The packaging is well thought out for the travel home. It's a nice to see they care about the details. At home when I open the package it looks fabulous. The fish is golden and crispy. Sliced thin it's a large piece of fish. I prefer it like this over the chunky cuts that I sometimes see in other places. The fries are great. Fresh cut. Perfectly cooked. The coleslaw is homemade creamy and fresh. Slightly sweet it cuts through and complements the not too greasy fried food quite nicely. Even with a good splash of vinegar the fish stays crispy. This is going to be one of my favorite fish and chips in the city. Can't wait to go back.

Haddock & Chips order had an impressively sized fish fillet piece along with plenty of thick cut fries underneath. For takeout, we were peeved that they used pre-packed condiments for tartar sauce rather than provide some homemade or dine-in option. But the fish itself was golden & crunchy on the outside with pleasant flaky fillet texture inside. Well worth it, and they even offer $11 Sun/Mon specials. As for the Halibut & Chips, we were sadly underwhelmed by our first attempt. The fish is firm, mild in flavour with perhaps a little bit of sweetness. It tasted rather bland. We may have to try it fresh to see if it's an acquired taste. Otherwise we'll stick to cod/haddock. The fries accompanying both were a tad soggy but did a bit better with a splash of S&P. To be honest, we've had comparable fish & chips elsewhere. We've even started to rely on our own air fryer at home to cut some grease. However, for convenience it's good to know that Halibut House is a fish & chip option just a stone's throw away from us!

Staff was very friendly and checked me out at the cash no problem. There weren't too many people dining in when I arrived. When I got to my destination to eat my take out (about only a 5 minute ride away), I did notice that both my fish and chips were on the soggier side, perhaps of the ride home and how it was packaged. Put into a box and wrapped in paper. The haddock and chips were okay in my opinion, but they didn't give any ketchup, vinegar or condiments with my order which was a tad odd and maybe what was lacking in the meal itself. Overall, I'd suggest dining in over getting take out to keep things on the fresher, crispier side.

This is my first ever Yelp review in Canada or outside the US! In June 2025, my girlfriend & I took a vacation up this way. I had attended a timeshare presentation, had earned 2 nearly free nights in Niagara Falls, ON, and wanted to include Toronto on the vacation since I heard good things and is Canada's largest city. That morning I drove up to the hotel, took the TTC, and we walked over to St. Lawrence Market. We were impressed with all the options. The place I was thinking of Carousel Bakery, which I read in my vacation research, said cash only. I had considered transferring some US to Canadian money, but it's hard to estimate how much cash I'd be using, you lose on the exchange, and then I'd lose on whatever exchange again back to US. So, I decided credit card only for the trip. Carousel lost the business, but it was a great opportunity to try Buster's Sea Cove. The line was long, so I figured it was probably good. Although we were strongly leaning to lobster roll, we asked the cashier's recommendation & what's popular, and she said definitely the lobster roll. It came with either salad or fries. I opted for the salad; my g/f opted for fries. The price was reasonable, CAN $23, which in MD, that would be at least that much in US dollars, so it was a good deal. MD has some lobster, but a lot is imported from Canadian Maritimes & Maine, and I think is a much easier to import along St. Lawrence River into Lake Ontario and to St. Lawrence Market & other places in Toronto. As for the taste, wow this was excellent even a bit better than other lobster rolls I've had before. There was a generous amount of lobster in the roll. I don't like when you pay a high price and get very little seafood; so that was good for Buster's to give a generous amount. We sat on high chairs nearby and enjoyed our delicious lobster rolls as well as salad, I tried a few of my g/f's fries, which was good too. I highly recommend visiting St. Lawrence Market in general and trying Buster's Sea Cove.
