I hadn't had fish and chips in a while and only recently noticed that Halibut House opened up recently near the Walmart by Vaughan City Hall. The restaurant is spacious and is currently open for dine-in. However, I came in to order for take out. There are specials on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. On Sunday and Monday, the haddock and chips are $11. On Wednesdays, the cod and chips are $12. After you order and pay, you're given a pager and can go and wait in your car until the pager goes off. I observed that the wait staff here and the cashier know how to wear masks. The cooks on the other hand do not and there was one kitchen staff who walked into the main restaurant area with a chin mask. The food was piping hot. It fogged up my car window as I drove home. I didn't realize how big the haddock was going to be until I got home. It's huge. It was perfectly battered. The fish was flaky but also juicy. The fried batter was light and crispy. The fries on the other hand were a little soggy. But I really enjoyed the fish, which was the star of the show.

New location freshly opened Feb 8. There is a large parking lot with easy access to the store. The staff here is very friendly even with the rush of dine in and take out. I took advantage of the BOGO half price fish and chips (no seafood plates) and tried the Halibut and Chips. The fish and fries were freshly prepared and well cooked. The fish was moist with a nice crunch batter and the fries were double fried for a nice crunch exterior with a fluffy centre that paired perfectly with malt vinegar. The staff be it front of house to the chefs at the back crafting up the yummy goodness are masters of their craft. Will visit to try out the other fish offerings and even the combo platters (breakfast maybe a stretch for a person that enjoys sleeping in)

Was too hungry, forgot to snap a photo of the actual food!

Great new spacious spot for fish and chips! We tried both the Cod and Halibut, and both were fresh and delicious. I do prefer the Cod as it is more on the flaky side, but that's a personal preference. Pairs great with the large cut fries! Very efficient and friendly service as well. They are running a buy one get one 50% off promo for the month of February, so get it while you can.

The service was amazing. You have to be a fish person because the haddock was very fishy taste and smell. I did not enjoy it but it was fresh cooked and crispy. The fries were decent and quite large. The seasoning overall was missing which I understand is to be expected from a fish and chips. Cost per person around $25 overall a 2/5

The fish pieces are HUGE and well breaded, very good value for money. One piece is really as large as two pieces and like a small fish. The family sized fries really feeds like 8 people easily. They have some salads too if you want veggies. One of the best spots in the GTA

Excuse the colours in the photos as any dietician would cringe but that's just what fish and chips are! A rare outing for me, decided to hit up a fish and chips (right before London, UK at that) and found this place a good one. Halibut was fresh and the Greek salad was refreshing. Would have reached another level for a little more of a home-touch--lets say homemade tartar sauce, for instance.

I don't know how this place is up and running. They scam prices and food is bland. I came to pick up fish and chips for my lunch break. Customer service is not welcoming. Server did not greet as you walk in. When it came to settling the bill I asked why the price is not the 'everyday special' as it says on their Menu online. She said it's only a specific fish. In this case they should be clarifying and asking customers on the phone. They ASSUMED my order. I did not ask for a specific fish. I ordered 'fish and chips'. Food did not have any salt. You do not get lemon wedges for fish and coleslaw is not included. It's extra, if you would like it as a side.

DELICIOUS & AUTHENTIC SEAFOOD ITALIAN CUISINE…read more I made reservations a few days in advance and was told that only the heated patio was available. But I knew this place was a gem when they called back the day after to inform me there was a cancellation and was now able to move our reservation indoors. I loved that! FOOD: - Complimentary bread tasted nice with the tomato sauce. - Calamari e Gamberi Fritti ($30) tasted so fresh and delicious! For a fried appetizer it wasn't too heavy between sharing for two. The portion was hearty for two and the size of the calamari and shrimp wasn't small. - Captain's Caesar salad ($15) tasted great as we expected for a Caesar salad and also fresh! It was also a good size for two. - Sea Bass Branzino From the Grill ($39) was a great choice! The garlic-lemon butter sauce was incredibly paired with the freshness of the fish and intensified the whole dish. I chose the side option of risotto blanco which was also a perfect pairing! - King Crab Papardelle ($46) was another great tasty choice! It came with multiple pieces of crab legs which were halved. The sauce and texture of the pasta was amazing! - Tiramisu ($13) was the best tiramisu I've had. I love a tiramisu with a strong espresso taste and this one did not disappoint. SERVICE: Our server was very attentive and friendly, as well as the other staff members that helped us out! AMBIENCE: The restaurant is within the same building as their market/grocer. A family-friendly Italian establishment and very hospitable greetings. The smell of fresh seafood even makes it better. I'd definitely return and try out more of their seafood and pasta dishes! And of course their Tiramisu.

My husband being a seafood lover was super enthusiastic about this place, as San Antonio also offers a decent selection of vegetarian food. We got the table, things looked fine and until we kept waiting for our server to come. He came and left the menu only to return when we called him and trying to ask him for suggestions. Understand the menu items but he just responded i will come when you are ready. So we just ordered without any inputs. He wouldn't come to us even once to ask hows the food, do we need anything else. We kept calling a server, serving near by tables. That guy was decent, he practically should have got the tip from our table. Our designated server passed us each time and kept serving other tables. There was sampling ( Italian liquor) for each table, he preferred to skip us or even talk about it. We felt humiliated and frustrated as even after spending 150 bucks, you are not treated respectfully or even neutrally as a customer. But again the other server was as good as any good service offering restaurant would have . I dont think should mention food here. I habe addresses far more important issue here

The modern, chic decor sets a wonderful ambiance, and the service was immediate and welcoming. The food was spectacular from start to finish. We started with fresh, warm bread, followed by a flavorful seafood gumbo loaded with meat, and a generous portion of two lightly breaded crab cakes. For our mains, the 10oz ribeye and 8oz tenderloin were seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection--compliments to the chef! They came with a lovely side of baby potatoes and vegetables. We capped off a perfect meal with a warm pecan tart and ice cream. I highly recommend coming here. We noticed they have a pizza oven and plan to add pizza to the menu soon; we already can't wait for our next visit to try it out! There are specials that change weekly. The interior is decorated with New Orleans memorabilia, medium lit, cozy (not large), with jazz music in the background. Service was attentive and friendly. They operated for 30 years at their old location. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-12. We came on 2026-02-25 for dinner. There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Blackened Lamb Chops (weekly special). 7. New Orleans Fisherman's Plate ($39.95). 8. Pecan Pie warmed with Ice Cream ($14.95). 9. Bananas Foster ($14.95). 10. Beignet ($14.95). Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037

The restaurant was surrounded in tanks full of lobster, crab, seafood and then a ton of dry aged steaks. Definitely something you don't see in California. Clean and spacious. Service was what you would expect from a Chinese seafood restaurant. Overall the meal was good, for me and a few others at the table the star of the show was actually the fish. The lobster while impressive when they brought it out was not as flavorful as one would have expected. And same with the king crab legs - my favorite have been the ones I've had in SF. I ordered 2 of their specials (Haddock and chips including a pop) for $12.50 + tax each. I was a little hesitant about the haddock being fishy? And was debating on paying more and getting their halibut. I was worried sick all the way home. But Upon eating the haddock, I was truly genuinely surprised at how good it was. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference between this and halibut which is saying a lot about fish and chips. When my food was done, I saw the cook ( a lady ) and it was the same one from my previous visits a long time ago. Oh boy, I hope they don't change as the lady cook is a keeper! I know that this place was up for sale a while back and that is why I was hesitant to come here recently. But, after seeing that the cook is the same, I will be sure to make a few more visits and into my regular rotation of take out food. To all the yelpers out there. This is by far the best haddock I've tried and is comparable to halibut at a portion of the price. It's an easy recommendation.
