Very cool, retro diner, gorgeous wood interior with old jukebox and original? Booths and counter seating Service was fine. Food was not quite as expected for good diner fare- no heaping portions, no option to add onions to homefries as they are deep fried, Benedict a bit dry

24 hour spot! I repeat 24 hours, which is extremely rare to find now a days since covid started . The place was giving diner / family friendly vibes. Located in downtown Toronto. It had Plenty of space and seating available. Our server was very welcoming and gave the perfect amount of time in between checking in on is throughout. I always ask for the recommendations or popular items, and what he told us did not disappoint. When traveling finding amazing food and new experiences is my #1 goal, and The Lakeview was a great place to add to my list. They leave little note pads and markers on the table to allow you to post messages , drawings and positive messages . I thought that was a perfect idea to kill time and share messages to others around the world. We we're a party of 4. I order the most popular item; The Cornflake chicken sandwich, with there fresh cut fries. The other order at the table where the well know all day breakfest plater, and a burger with onion rings. Everything was delicious. All the food came out at the same time. Only down side was there home fry potatoes where prenty from. Besides that we had a great time and the food was delicious. Must try when your visiting !

A great late night spot to get together with friends to grab a bite after hours in Toronto! This place insta to transports you back in time with its diner vibe from the 80s. It's a very laid back spot! We just came to get some late night apple pie milk shakes and it definitely didn't disappoint. Also was able to add a fireball shot in ours as it was the servers special

Food is great, service is great, atmosphere is great. Love it, $5 mimosas!!! This place is a gem.

Apple Pie Milkshake (they bring you the extra in the metal can, too)

We saw this on a food network show and thought we'd check it out while in Toronto. I was aware that ownership had changed, and reviews weren't perfect but thought we'd try anyway. I thought my husband would love the apple pie milkshake. He did enjoy it. It did NOT have a big hunk of apple pie on the edge like we'd seen on TV, but it was still good. We each got the Turbo Sandwich with peameal bacon. It was amazing. Perfect amount of mayo. And those home fries... When they came out they were super dark so thought they may be overdone, but no. They were perfectly seasoned and crispy. The ambience is awesome since it's old school and looks original. They even played 50s and 60s music. Our server was super friendly and got our orders right even with modifications. Not sure what the diner was previously, but we'd happily eat there again. Lots of other yummy options we'd want to try!

I had brunch today at The Lakeview Restaurant. I ordered the Standard Breakfast with peameal bacon and a large milk. The home fries were really overseasoned so Jade asked for a new batch for me. It was a filling but a bit pricy breakfast. Jade was friendly and chatty ... thanks, Jade!

Smoked meat sandwich

Cool restaurant with great food. I ordered the smoked meat sandwich and it hit the spot! I also tried my wife's disco fries and they were delicious! The pancake medallions were delicious too. I'll be back.

Very tasty crispy chicken club sandwich... I'd have this again..

I had a very tasty chicken club sandwich with cheese where. They add a spicy sauce to it and it gives it a nice heat. The bread was nice and soft, bacon crispy along with the crispy chicken. On the whole very enjoyable. I also had a milkshake which was good but quite large... I over ate with that Int he mix... But I'd come back for sure. As others have said the service is amazing, really nice staff that make it an enjoyable occasion...

$3 mimosas or $17 for a pitcher. I recommend the pitcher cause they're so yummy and easy to finish

Known for their apple pie milkshake. They're huuuuuge. If youre going with a group of 2 or 3, just order one milkshake. If you dine in they will give you the cup they prepared it in. It's a lot. Their mimosas are $3. There are also man-mosas, and pitchers. The waiter didn't accept my NY state ID and had to go check upfront which was annoying. The mimosa itself is really good. Honestly, I wish I got a pitcher because I got more than one. Bathrooms are tiny.

We had White Lily on our list for a while and were happy to finally try them…read more They open at 9am everyday and the online waitlist starts at 9:15am on their website. You can enter your name and party size and you'll be informed how many people are in front of you in the lineup; that way, you can plan your approximate arrival time. You can check the status of the lineup with the link texted to you. Once your table's ready, you'll receive a text message with 10 minutes grace per. There are 7 booths and 5 bar chairs available for dine-in. The menu feels different from a typical diner and offers great variety of comfort food and drinks. We ordered "Sweet Potato Salad", "Southern Breakfast", and "Hot Turkey". The Southern Breakfast was a filling plate with eggs, bacon, grits, gravy, fermented greens and their famous buttermilk biscuit, while the Hot Turkey was a really interesting combination of stuffing French toast, smoked turkey, gravy, cranberry chutney and maple butter. The Sweet Potato Salad was a nice side to balance out the heavier dishes, and everything had that homemade comfort-food feel. The staff are friendly and helpful and there's Green P parking available on Queen East.

Not sure if we just ordered the wrong thing or if their mains are bad…read more We ordered the Hashbrowns, the Buttermilk Biscuits, and the Hot Turkey. The Hashbrowns were actually very good! Really crispy and delicious, they were definitely prepared well and hit the spot. I couldn't have asked for better hashbrowns. The buttermilk biscuits were also really fluffy and tasted good. No complaints here. The Hot Turkey French Toast however... I think they should remove this off the menu. We ordered it because it sounded interesting and we like to think of ourselves as adventurous foodies, but oh wow this was bad! We ate 2 bites each and couldn't eat more. Its just really dense and fatty and the gravy is way too overpowering and the flavors just don't go together. We were starving and hadn't eaten all day and couldn't get ourselves to eat more than 2 bites because we were frankly disgusted. It tasted really bad. DO NOT ORDER THIS. We came for a 2pm lunch on a Tuesday, and they told us the wait would be around 15-20mins which we said was fine. However, we ended up waiting 40mins, and we suspect that they let other people in front of us (told there were 2 parties of 2 in front of us but let in 3 parties). It gave diner vibes but was definitely more cramped. Was busier than I expected on a random Tuesday at 2pm. Low rating is for the awful main and the longer-than-promised wait time. But I do have to give them credit for the tasty apps. We might've just ordered the wrong thing on the menu but we're not coming back to find out, especially if the wait will always be this long.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.

Sammy's has warm, welcoming and hard-working staff; they seemed genuinely happy to be working there. The food is diner quality, except for the flaming saganaki OPA! Lovely ambiance with the sociable patrons, comfortable booths and lovely decor (please see pics). WE ORDERED: - Liver and onions with bacon was pretty good; judging by the comments made by hubby, we will be coming back for this. - Side Salad - lettuce was limp, not the freshest. I would recommend getting a different side. - Saganaki - not only was this a yummy appetizer, the show was entertaining. Just make sure to let the staff know if you want to takes pictures or take a video beforehand; I forgot to tell our waitress, so by the time I whipped out my camera, the show was over. Oh well, live and learn.
