Came here to watch the Scotland/Morocco game and G Pub was packed! Great vibe and lots of friendly Tartan Army members. Had to wait a little while to get in, but it wasn't too bad. Once inside, I was amazed at how well the bar and wait staff were handling the crowd. They had several people working behind the bar, and I never had to wait for a few minutes to get another drink. I also placed an order for chips & queso and it only took a few minutes as well. Food was great, crowd was awesome - there was even a bagpiper! Service was fantastic (specifically Akilah). However, the food was simply not good. The jerk chicken burger was simply dry charred chicken on a grill with a very strong parsley flavor in the vegetables and not much else going on. Absolutely no jerk seasoning. I honestly used to not be a fan. But, I went last week before a show at PPAC and I think my opinion has changed. It was frigid outside so maybe that helped - because I remember it always feeling so crowded and loud but this time there weren't too many people. Got the It's Greek to Me burger. I never finish my meals - so I made the choice to remove the top bun and eat it with a fork and knife and devoured it. There were fries leftover, but my mom helped finish those. Really delicious burger - hearty portion but the toppings made it feel light and fresh. Zoe was our server. She was friendly and seemed engaged with her tables. I'd go back and try some more menu items if it was similar to last Saturday. read more

We went to G pub on Saturday before the PPAC matinee. It was surprisingly empty since most other pubs are busy and packed. We got a couple drinks. (Beer and high noon) Husband got a burger which was just "good" not the best but not the worst. His words. His fries were nice and crispy. Could have given us more than the little side of ketchup. Just leave the bottle. I got a fried chicken sandwich. It was almost burnt on one side and the majority of my fries were small end bits. Wasn't a fan of the corn chow chow relish they put on it and it Could have used more sauce. Probably won't come here again, but It wasn't bad considering we didn't have much time to find a place to grab a bite before the show. read more

Great food and great service! We came during the week so there were no crowds, and the service was really good. I wasn't a big fan of the drunk I got, and they were really nice about refunding and letting me get a different drink. I had my kids with me and they have a fun arcade area for the kids to play at (although there were some young adults over there enjoying the games, too). Not sure I can legitimately review G Pub since we only got one dish but I will anyway. We had the Brussels sprouts and kimchi. Sounds like it should be good, right? It should but it seems like they just got in the Korean food bandwagon and don't know what to do with the kimchi. The Brussels sprouts were flash fried and hot (warm, really) and crispy. The kimchi was cold. In Korean culture, Kimchi can be and often is served hot. In this case, it should have been because my mouth kept going through different temperature changes and couldn't focus on the flavors. Also, the bacon seemed like an afterthought. Rather than bacon, I'd suggest some crispy pork belly--another staple of Korean cuisine. G Pub: if you ever make the changes I recommend, let me know. I'd love to come try it. read more

Went for dinner with a group of people. Took about 45 minutes until our waitress came to the table to take our drink orders. Took forever to get those and everytime something was brought to our table the waitress ran away before we could ask her to put in apps or for more drinks. Took a long time to get our food and our apps were brought out at the same time as our food. Once again the waitress dropped the food and ran away. Condiments were asked for and never received. Not to mention the place was dead. Just overall not great service and was really hopeful going into dinner last night. Great place to grab a quick pub lunch that is reasonably priced. One of my favorite places in downtown Providence thus far! The staff is great and are ready to make any accommodations. I came with a friend who has severe food allergies and they did a great job with ensuring she would get a meal that was safe to eat. The arcade is also pretty fun and doesn't rob your pockets. You get 12-16 tokens for a fiver and each game takes 4. We particularly had a blast with air hockey after lunch. Definitely check this place out if you're in downtown Providence. read more

While in PVD running errands we stopped into G Pub for an adult beverage and appetizer. We had never been and did not know what to expect. First, the entrance is down a side street. There is a banner hanging from an awning by the door. Enter a vestibule, turn to the right and enter down a flight of stairs. This is a very industrial venue. Wide open spaces. Heavy wooden tables. Comfy tufted booths. A bar runs the entire length of the dining area along the far wall. At the opposite end from the staircase are several games from air hockey and billiards to motorcycle arcade games and shooting hoops. I'm sure it is quite loud on a busy weekend night. We arrived about 5pm. There is a hostess stand at the foot of the stairs and she seated us in one of their tufted booths. There was only one other table occupied at the time and a few guests were seated at the bar. Our waitress was really wonderful. Came up shortly after we were seated, introduced herself, asked if we had been there before. Really great customer service and very personable. We ended up chatting with her for a bit toward the end of our visit about travel and the other businesses associated with G Pub. She really increased the enjoyment of our visit. I tried the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini from their cocktail menu. It comes with a salted pretzel rim and looks so fancy. It has a very mild taste and easy to drink. The presentation is just so cute. My So ordered an IPA on tap. They do have several beers on tap and a full bar. Although we had originally intended to dine here, we had stuffed ourselves on milkshakes a couple hours earlier and we were not up for a full meal. Instead we opted to try their beef short rib poutine. Nicely presented in a small cast iron crock, topped with pickled jalapeños. The pickling brine is sweet, making the peppers sweet & sour. They were interesting and although I am not a fan of jalapenos generally, I like these. My SO however, who does like jalapenos, did not care for the sweet. He likes their heat to stand alone. The fries are big, very fluffy inside and cooked crispy outside where not covered in gravy. The gravy didn't have much flavor. There is a good amount of short rib in the mix and the meat is salty. Curds were melted throughout. This is a mild tasting, filling appetizer. We definitely would come back again to try more of the menu. There are a variety of seating options, booth, table, bar and would be good for a large group. Parking is on the street, or in one of the nearby pay lots or garages. Public transport has stops nearby and it is very close to a few downtown hotels. read more

This is a great place to drop in and watch some football on a Saturday night. The staff were very accommodating; they led us to a booth with TVs right next to it and changed the channel to whatever we wanted. Only one issue makes me dock a star from this review: the pulled pork was legitimately terrible . Everything else was great though, good food, good beer! I hardly ever write a bad review because places can just have "off days" but what happened last night - I feel like should be a warning to others. We had a team dinner there booked a month ago. The team manager confirmed the number (37 people) numerous times. Even that morning - we called to confirm. We arrived there and there was seating for 15 (including one booth we crammed a bunch of teenage hockey kids in). They said there was nothing they could do because they were "fully committed." That was.. until one of the coaches was told he can pay them for more tables. He went to the ATM down the street and paid them $200 and miraculously another table opened up. We still had families that left because we didn't have space. But during our time there, there were several tables never sat. Fast forward to the bill. Automatic 20%, no Problem. But adding things to charge up a bill - HUGE problem. We would order drinks, they forgot them- so then the server would re ring them when I asked about them. Our bill had four extra beers on it alone. My son had 3 sodas on it because they thought we just wouldn't look. In all fairness, I told them I was writing this review because of the total unethical behavior that occurred. A shakedown for money to get a table at a local pub - after you had a reservation- is absurd. We do team dinners in whatever city we are in and never had any of these issues. My suggestion is to stay far away if this is the way "management" runs a business. read more

Came here with a group of friends before the pride parade. Was the only place that could accommodate my group of 7 in downtown providence on short notice with a reservation. The rooftop was full. First impressions walking in and then down underground kind of gave a cool speak easy vibe.. they were understaffed since a lot of workers wanted to go celebrate pride but they did a great job being short staffed. The food was excellent. I had braised short ribs .. large hunks of meat, soft, tender, moist, and flavorful. Was very happy with my meal. Very good bar vibe and they cater well to large groups. Perfect mood lighting.. not stark but comfortable and inviting. It's a pretty weird little hole in the wall on a side alley. It's a decent sized bar with nice sized TVs and not overly busy. The arcade was a bit of a letdown but there's plenty of other activities. Food was a bit pricey but overall was very good. The bacon cheese burger was a very unique take on a traditional burger by adding fried onion rings and bbq sauce on the burger which honestly I thought was gonna be much but ends up working REALLY well. The service was HORRIBLE. We had 2 servers for a party of 14 and it was like pulling teeth to even get them to provide menus. Drink refills were few and far between, and we had to ask for more beers and mixed drinks by flagging down the servers. They were ill-equipped to handle a Saturday night crowd. This place is great. Hidden in Providence G, I liked the ambiance, nice place to hang with a friend who I was visiting in Providence. While we waited for the food we played a round of air hockey. They have a mini arcade in the dining room and you play games by loading money on a card. You get 4 games for $6. We took a few minutes to do the math since we're from out of town and wouldn't be able to use any excess credits. Mario Kart and the air hockey were a blast, I like that the games were multiplayer and they even let us play a bit after close as long as an employee was still there. The drinks were great although a tad pricey but I was on vacation and didn't care as much. Good cocktail and beer options and they even had a few wine options for my fiancee. I got the Braised Beef Short Ribs, it tasted like momma's pot roast, it was cooked to perfection. My friend and my fiancee both got the Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese, with my fiancee requesting to hold off on the sauce which they complied with. Both of them absolutely loved their dishes. Good ratio of noodle and chicken, made for a hearty meal. All in all, this place is a great hang. Good food, drinks, and even fun games too. read more

This is the perfect spot to stop and grab some awesome bar food. Everyone was so nice, theres stairs to get there but someone who worked in the building was nice enough to offer to scan us in to use the elevator to get there since we had a stroller. We were greeted promptly and our server Jen was very attentive and everything came out pretty quick. The food- so good! We got the everything pretzels for an appetizer and the cheese sauce was the best! The hot dogs are amazing and very big/loaded (highly recommend the chili dog) The Cuban sandwich is also very good. The vibe of the place and atmosphere was really cool, loved the look and feel, it wasn't divey at all like the bars back home. This used to be one of my favorite spots when I lived closer to PVD. I even had my surprise 30th here years ago. Recently, we decided to go back since it had been so long. I didn't realize how much has changed. There are no private karaoke rooms anymore and the whole back area is some type of arcade set up. The menu has changed as well. I used to crave their truffle fries, but it wasn't on the menu along with the amazing burgers. The food we received was fine, just not memorable. Service was mediocre but the food did come out very quickly. I usually give more enthusiastic reviews but I felt underwhelmed this time. read more

They just fully reopened after COVID and we had the opportunity to try a bunch of things from their new menu. We came here really early on a Friday night and it was not crowded at all. G Pub is mostly set up as a sports bar with lots of TVs and a couple of pool tables. For appetizers we had the crispy fried Brussels sprouts and the fried pickles. The fried pickles were heavenly!! The Brussels sprouts were pretty good; I liked the sauce but they were a tiny bit greasy. The jackfruit bahn mi is an interesting vegan option but unfortunately was not my favorite dish. It had an overwhelmingly sour flavor. The best part was the fries which are perfectly done! Next time I would probably try the Impossible burger. The beer and cocktail menu is really comprehensive with some exciting options. The prices are pretty on par with Providence as a whole--they're maybe a little less expensive than the Malted Barley, for example. The service was really friendly and fast even as a large party. They will do cake cutting and serving for a fee of $1.50 per person. Overall G Pub is a pretty solid option for food and drinks in downtown Providence. The atmosphere is not as unique/special as some of the other bars in the area, but it's a great spot if you want to watch the game or need to convene with a large group. read more

Horrible experience. We were sitting there for 3 hours it took so long for everything to come out, including our waitress. She would disappear for an hour at a time, maybe we needed another round of drinks or water or anything like check on your tables. Finally a huge party rolled in and we had been ready to go. Plates cleared and no waitress. We had to flag down another waitress to get our check because at this point it was 9:45, ig that was our waitress for the rest of the night because we didn't see our original waitress again. After waiting again for her to come take the check and the new woman walking by us multiple times and then was just standing by the bar looking around. I had to leave my table, go through the crowd to hand our check over because we felt invisible. It hurt me to leave such a small tip but really it was some of the worst service I have ever received. The food was decent but the servers are the reason I will never be returning and I wouldn't recommend to anyone who wants to eat in less than 3 hours. Well, I do hate leaving bad reviews but this was bad! Four of us went to dinner.. one entree was fish and was still raw. Sent it back at it took over 15 minutes to get a replacement. It was 2/3 the size of the first one. Our steak tips we bland and tough. Very very disappointed as the previous trip was good. Will not go back! Server was amazing, but kitchen underserved and no redemption will help. Not that we expected French Laundry, but McDonald's would've been better tonight. read more

While the food is good and the restaurant spacious, I don't feel as if this is a place I leave extremely happy with at the end. I have been here a couple of times since they opened and this past time was for the advertised country night. I was celebrating my birthday and made sure too look online at their page, but when we arrived we were told there were no BBQ plates going on and no drink specials either. So obviously I was naturally disappointed even though I just decided to continue on. I ordered a cocktail, the lavender moon, which i should start out by saying they were extremely overpriced. The drink was beautiful with it's bright lavender purple color but tasted absolutely terrible, sort of like lemon rind. I was going to order a beer next but the tap options wasn't really calling out to me so I got the g tea and I don't think that was much better than the lavender moon. The food however was all pretty good. We ordered the tuna bites and calamari for appetizers. The tuna bites were delicious and probably my favorite part of the meal. Then I ordered buffalo Mac and cheese and my boyfriend ordered a fish sandwich. Both dishes were a little underwhelming but tasted good atleast. My friend ordered the b.l.t.a and the bread looked good. Overall I left regretting even going there for my birthday, for the price we paid we could of had a better meal somewhere else and it wasn't really what was advertised. read more

This restaurant is located in the basement of the Providence G hotel and boasts a speakeasy / saloon decor and vibe. They have several beers on tap and delicious pub fare. We went for a late lunch and were one of three tables of people in this large space, so I was nervous that we had made a poor decision. Boy, was I wrong! We tried the G Nachos and the #thegreenmonatah burger which were both delicious! I was really impressed by the special short rib and brisket burger blend topped with green tomatoes, fried pickles, and special sauce - yum! They have complimentary valet parking but depending on the time of day that you visit, you may be able to take advantage of the ample street parking that's available. One additional tip to mention is that although we entered through the hotel lobby on Dorrance we were restricted from walking back to our car the same way because we weren't guests of the hotel and didn't have access cards to let us in. We were however, able to exit on to Orange Street and walk around the block to where we had parked our car, no big deal. read more
