I've been seeing Dr. Chinn for about 7 years, and my daughter sees Dr. Redman. The doctors are both wonderful -- you can not go wrong with either one of them, but what makes the place special is that the staff is great, too. Always. Even though it has not been the same group of ladies for 7 years. They always go above and beyond to help me understand the options under my insurance, they help me pick out my frames, and they are just nice people. My experience this week prompted me to finally let everyone else know they are great. It was my daughter's first time to the office. They were so patient with her as she learned how to look into all the machines, and they even fixed (and cleaned) a pair of kid's sunglasses she broke last week. And they accomodated my request to email my receipt so I could more easily send it to my health FSA. Other things: The Optomap machine is a god-send (no more dilation!). I have very poor eyesight and Dr. Chinn always takes the time to discuss whether it would be good for me to get surgery. There are a couple of cons: I always seem to phone at lunch time when they are closed; the doctors are not there all the time (I think they have another branch in San Jose), though of course they are there when you have your appointment; frames are pretty expensive (but really gorgeous). read more

The Precision Eye Care Centers has the most friendliest staff and doctors. Dr. David Redman was very knowledgeable and caring. This practice has a wide range of eye glasses to choose from. The staff allowed me to take my time trying on the glasses. I ended up with a number of frames that I really liked. Most importantly I never felt pressure to choose or buy anything on the spot. I took my time, and the staff was so helpful. I have recommended Precision Eye Care Centers to my friends. read more

Dr, Brent Chinn at Precision Eyecare is great. My son switched to Dr. Chinn after seeing two Optometrists without success--the glasses they prescribed didn't improve my son's vision, The very first prescription by Dr. Chinn helped my son's see much better, Today, after six years with Dr. Chinn, my son sees 20/15 with glasses. A week ago I picked up my new prescription glasses, and Garrett was the optician who helped me. Kudos to Garrett for being very patient with me as he was adjusting my frame that had to be adjusted several times until the fit was 100% perfect. Garrett has a great personality and his customer service is superb. He made me feel at ease as I thought I was becoming a picky customer, but no, Garrett made me feel very comfortable after having tweaked the frame several times until it was perfect. Great doctor HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE (front desk)!!!!! Sigh its unfortunate that the doctor is great and nice but the front desk cannot do their job!!!!! I had to call them to remind them to send me my prescription or pick up my contacts. I am not paid to do your job. There are usually 2 people at the front who has bad attitude and promise to do things but never do it. Hence 5 stars for Doc but -3 for service = 2 stars. read more

So first of I wish I would have read the reviews here first before getting an appointment to this horrible place of looters trickers and misleading experts who apparently call themselves doctors i assume! So two days ago I called in to schedule an appointment explaining every bit of my insurance and questioned if an updated medical exam for eye glasses and contacts is covered by my insurance or not. The answer was yes we do! Today I walked in for my appointment and was walked in a room by "receptionist" who precisely asked me couple of questions about my eyes and then requested me to wait until the doctor would come and see me. Doctor came in checked my eye sight didn't ask me any other question gave me an updated prescription of my contacts which was not different from my last prescription and walked me out of the room and said to see the optimist who would guide me in selecting frames etc. I said I'm not gonna get any frames OE contacts today and almost stood up to walk out as I thought I was done when I was asked to pay $80 !!??!??! Of course I asked why?!?! Since the last time I checked I was told my insurance covered everything ! And then comes the real art that they are good at. TRICKING! The lady told me that insurance covers the eye examine not contacts consultation with the doctor ?!?! I was like so what was the examination? Apparently the receptionist who asked me couple of question was MY EYE EXAMINATION TEST covered by my insurance and what doctor did was not!!!! How fair?!?! So my question was At what point did I say that I WANT A CONTACTS EXAMINATION OR AT WHAT POINT WAS I INFORMED THAT IT WONT BE COVERED AND IS THIS SOMETHING I WANT?!?! neither was I asked nor I was told!!!!! Why should I pay anything when this was something I didn't wanted and I was tricked to get it done and the. Forced to pay $80 . And not only I was the one there was another woman on the phone fighting and arguing about the same complaint and the staff was so rude that they were warning her to not scream or get mad! Of course you looters and jokers people would get mad and scream their head off on the LIES YOU SAY AND TRICKS YOU PLAY!!!! I can swear upon GOD that this review is not any exaggeration this is my very true and recent experience. I'm a very kind and humble person of respect and never engage myself into unnecessary arguments but this place and people here have got under my skin and I feel responsible to inform everyone out there to understand the truth and be prepared and act very alert around them and not get tricked by these professional looters! Worst place ever. The old lady was always behaving like I owed her 1 million dollars. Did not explain there was extra charge for contact lens 'fit', which means they throw you a pair of lens to try on by yourself and use a flash light to look at your eyes with lens on. Dr. Chinn was not that professional either (I got way better treatment at Stanford eye center). I will never visit this place again. read more

This office is in a convenient location. The interior was also pretty organized and clean. Since I had to wait for my turn, I noticed there was some kind of coffee station but the machines were turned off. I asked the clerks if I might sip on some fresh coffee while I waited. They rolled their eyes and said that they would "see" what they could do. Even though there was just me and a woman with her son in the entire office, the entire time, the clerks did nothing. I really could care less about coffee (there was a Starbucks and Panera Bread just down the way), but I was surprised that something so easy and simple seemed so difficult for the clerks to do. It was rude and showed that they were lazy and did not care. The doctor - some guy with the last name of Redman - was nice but he made me wait a very long time to get my entire annual eye exam done. I was not sure he knew what he was doing (I get my eye checked regularly at other licensed optometrist in Mountain View and San Jose). Strangely, I also did not get my prescription by the time I was done so I was not sure why I could not get my prescription. When I asked about some of their glasses, I also noticed the mark-up for the brand name frames were very, very high. Even though I do not set my standards high for doctors' office in general, still, I was not impressed with the service I got. I think I will go to a different provider next year. read more

Buyer Beware: Maybe I've been lucky in life but this is the first and last time that I've had dealings with a company who is unwilling to stand behind their service. I've been wearing glasses for 40 years. . .never had problems like the ones I encountered here.18 months ago I ordered glasses from Precision Eyecare in Mountain View (close to my workplace). The glasses I ordered were progressives with transition lenses. The glasses I received were initially defective having a large stripe in one lens whenever it transitioned to outside light. When I brought this to their attention days after receiving them the office manager tried to minimize my complaint telling me I just had to get used to them at which point I asked her to follow me outside to observe the defect. I should have listened to my spidey-sense then and voided my order and asked for a refund but she finally came around to agreeing to send the glasses back for replacement lenses. Now here it is 18 months later where I find myself with my glasses lens actually FLAKING. I knew I never asked for anti-glare or anti-scratch coating so I took my glasses in to show them what was happening. Same office manager: she explained that this was not any coating peeling off but actually the lens disintegrating and because they have to use the lens labs that insurance accepts they can't take responsibility for it - huh? Wow, wait huh? You mean to tell me that my highly-rated-always-worked-for-me-before-Precision-Eyecare Vision insurance forced you to use a sketchy lab and moreover not to tell your customers that you are using a sketchy lens lab that you will not accept responsibility for? Methinks not. When I lamented the staff commented "this happens hardly ever . . . maybe 1 in 50 customers" [translation: quite frequently] then they back-pedaled and asked whether I ever sprayed hairspray on my lenses (never - don't use it) or left my lenses in a hot car (never - I wear them always since I'm blind without them). Like I said "Buyer Beware" - this is the first and last time I will ever trust my vision needs to Precision Eyecare. read more

The office is clean, and both Drs. Chinn and Redman are friendly and patient. I appreciate their thorough approach--I always feel like I can ask questions or ask them to repeat part of the exam. I've seen Dr. Chinn the past few times, and he's always careful to read my family history and pay attention to a few things for which I may be at risk. Highly recommend. read more

I drive all the way down from Oakland!! I started coming here about 10 years ago when I lived in the Mtn View area and have never even thought about changing eye doctors, I love Dr. Chinn!! He's the best eye doctor!! Just look at all the plaque's all over the walls and you will see all the awards he has won. After my experiences in December/January (see previous review), things have not improved at all. The sunglasses that I ordered are the worst I've ever owned...the lens falls out with the slightest movement, and they were ordered specifically for me to wear while I am cycling. I requested my prescription from them via email early this week so that I can order a better pair on my own, and they haven't even replied to my email. Extremely disappointed. read more

My first visit to see Dr. Chinn. I have high expectations having spent 20 years as an optical engineer, and Dr. Chinn exceeded my best hopes. He is very thorough and gave me a great prescription. Precision Eye Care is the place to go! I moved away from the area for a few years and upon returning made an appointment with Dr. Chinn. He remembered who I was and took care of my routine eye exam. Going to the doctor usually isn't fun but Dr. Chinn is very personable and thorough with his work. After my exam I made the decision to switch back to glasses from contacts so I had to pick out new frames. I am pretty picky but one of the young ladies at the front desk was extremely patient and gave me advice on which frames looked best. She explained what my insurance covered and all of the options I had on the lenses very well. Dr Chinh is the best - BAR NONE. I have lived on 3 continents and been to countless eye doctors, this is the best! I was throughly impressed by Dr Chinh's commitment to perfectionism in his relenless efforts to get me the perfect lens fitted. Trina is amazing, my little boy is 5 and needed glasses. I had no idea his prescription was so bad but she was so informative and even put a rush order on his glasses. He got his glasses and she was so sweet and patient while he tried on pair after pair.. The nicest doctors and staff will take care of you and make you feel right at home at Precision. There are very few places of business where I feel this comfortable, but I always know I'm getting the best advise and professional care for my vision. I've been a patient of Dr. Redman's since I was in second grade and Cici helped me pick out my first pair of Mickey Mouse frames. Needless to say, I am now 20 years old, living in another city and Cici, Dr. Redman and the rest of the Precision team are still making sure I'm practicing good eyecare habits with my contact lenses and just two weeks ago Cici helped me pick out a pair of Fendi frames- a long way from Mickey Mouse, but still the same quality treatment I have always been able to rely on. read more
