I went here last night with a friend for happy hour! The decor and vibes are very unique. In happy hour they have multiple $5 drink options, I got a daiquiri and the waitress was even nice enough to make it a coconut one which was delicious!! My friend came a few minutes after happy hour ended but they still gave her the happy hour price on her first one! I got a burrito and it was DELICIOUS. I ate the whole thing and loved it, all the flavors paired perfectly together! And the tortilla was perfectly toasted to give it a little crunch. All the prices were reasonable, and overall it's just a great place to hangout!

The happy hour daiquiri and wing deals are among my favorite hidden treasures in Richmond. I love the vibe of this place and the food and drinks are always wonderful. The service is hit or miss - if you don't sit up at the actual bar, table service can be pretty slow, and I wouldn't say the servers are exactly friendly. Overall, this is a great spot and so fun to have close by if you live in the Northside area.

House Old Fashioned ($5 Happy Hour)

I'm almost embarrassed to say that I have passed this place at least 3 times a week for over 3 years. But... I'm proud to say, I finally decided today was the day I was going to see what this place was all about since it is in my Northside neighborhood. This place makes me realize why I like "Stranger Things"so much. The atmosphere was definitely giving 80s vibes! I mean, they even had "Labyrinth" playing on the TV (in closed caption.) I haven't seen that movie since I was 5! I'm not going to age myself, I'll let you use Google and figure out my age. Needless to say, I kind of liked the vibe. My greater joy was finding out they have a $5 house Old Fashioned on the happy hour menu. That was just my starter. I ended up enjoyed several other specialty drinks throughout the night. It got relatively busy in there but the bartenders were all super attentive and made amazing drinks. Happy hour ended at 7:00, but I made sure to order some honey habanero wings before the cutoff to enjoy the $2 discount. When I got home, I found that the wings were really tasty, but I felt sad that I didn't get some more in another flavor. I'll definitely know for next time. They better get used to me, because I will definitely be back for more drinks and definitely to grab something to go!

There isn't one thing this bar does wrong! Beautiful and fun decor and lighting, friendly and attractive and attentive and professional staff, excellent food, prices moderate, pool table for a buck a game, pinball machines for the Geeks, movies on tv (not sports, yay!), terrific bands on occasion, Lone Star Beer as the go to!!!! Why aren't you here?!?!

Buffalo wings - a must try!

Stopped into here before a pottery class and we loved everything about this place! From the funky decor on the walls, to the excellent staff and most importantly - the delicious food! My husband has been on the search for the best wing in Richmond and he said he finally found it! Flavorful, crispy, and not too saucy. The chicken sandwiches/biscuits sound amazing and almost everyone in the restaurant was ordering the nachos. They have a small stage and bands come play, they also have a pool table, pinball machines and creative beer/shot combos such as the "Colorado Kool-aid" which is a Coors Banquet and a shot of rum. They have great happy hour specials and there are so many things I want to try so we'll definitely be back!

Yummm! I've been to Fuzzy Cactus a few times now but mostly just to get their cocktails, but I went last week with a friend and ordered food and it was delicious! We ordered the carnitas quesadilla and the fried chicken nachos and they were both so good! Great flavors and good portions for the both of us to share. The dipping sauces were tasty too. We also ordered the fuzzy bastard and the diamond dog and they were strong with cute decorations on them. So good! Will definitely be back soon!

Oh I'm so happy i finally tried this place. So good! I called them to order for delivery. It was quick and easy, and the delivery itself took maybe 30mins. I ordered a chicken box & a prickly pear margarita. Chicken box: the chicken was delicious. juicy, crispy. It wasn't super flavorful but that didn't stop my from devouring it. The biscuit was really good too & the brown sugar butter was the perfect addition. Elote rice: this was my fav of the meal! It was savory and the flavors from the corn and sauce paired so good with the rice. Prickly pear marg: this was also yummy. I'm typically not a fan of pear flavors but this worked well.

Sorry for the bad pic... rainy tonight

The server, Briana, was one of the best I've had in a very long time. Personable, great smile, friendly, and knew her stuff. We ordered the brussel sprouts- they were great with a nice heat from the sauce. We had the crispy skin salmon, which came with a nice fresh salad, The skin was amazingly crispy and the flesh was flavorful. I asked Briana to surprise me with something good and boy did she deliver. It was their porkchop served over some super tasty mashed potatoes. Note that this is not how they are usually served, it was Briana's favorite way to eat this dish so she made the decision for me. The porkchop was very very good. Nice grill marks, onions, and a very nice cream-based sauce. This was so so good. They are doing great food at this new location and I will be back again.

The staff were polite, but we had to ask several times to get items we were missing or things we wanted extras of. They checked in on us a fair number of times, but they still forgot to return to give us what we had asked for. By the time we were ready to leave, we still haven't gotten our dressings or our condiments. I also had asked for my burger to be well done, but I got a burger with quite a bit of pink in it. I didn't want to ask for it to be placed back on the grill because I didn't really want to wait longer for my food. Although I wanted my burger to be well done and I didn't get it that way, it was still pretty good. The fries though, I think was the best part of it. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crunchy! I also ordered a coke. Just a heads up, they don't do free refills on the sodas, so each cup is $4. My party also ordered salmon l'orange and a romano salad with salmon. My friends really enjoyed their main dishes, but we did ask for extra dressing. The restaurant is decorated in a boho-style vibe, and it was cute. We found the lighting on the side dining area to be a little bit too dim once the sun went down, but I do think it would've been perfect for a date night vibe. Overall, we had an okay experience.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Riverside Tavern on Forest Hill Avenue…read more I ordered the grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus to go for $23.00. When I opened the container, I was shocked to find that the salmon portion was barely larger than my finger. It looked more like a sample than an entrée. I have attached photos because words alone don't adequately capture how small it was. What makes this even more frustrating is that I have ordered this exact meal before while dining in with my family, and the salmon portion I received then was easily three times larger. So this isn't a case of unrealistic expectations--I know what this dish normally looks like. I called the restaurant to express my concern, hoping they would make it right. Instead, the bartender responded with, "The portions are cut how they are cut," as if that somehow justified charging full price for such a tiny piece of fish. When I asked to speak with the owner, I was told, "You won't be talking to the owner. I'll just give him your information." There was no apology, no offer to replace the meal, no effort to address my concern--just complete indifference. If portions have been reduced, customers should be informed before paying premium prices. If this was simply an inconsistent serving, then quality control is seriously lacking. Either way, charging $23 for what amounts to a nugget of salmon is unacceptable. I used to enjoy Riverside Tavern and specifically ordered this meal because I had a good experience previously. Unfortunately, this visit--and especially the way my complaint was handled--has left me questioning whether I'll be back.

It's a very popular restaurant, so today, when we entered, while we were greeted right away, there was a 30 minute wait. There's no physical menus, instead you scan a QR code which brings you to their menu. They have lots of drink options, including several specialty cocktails, beers, and ciders. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive, and the food came out relatively quickly. For my drink, I ordered a local cider from a Virginia ciderie, as well as the It's A Wrap, which has cheddar, ranch, mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and your choice of protein (I got tofu). I also got a side of the Mac and cheese, which I could tell was made in house. Super creamy and flavorful with a hint of spice. My wrap was also insanely good! Appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, fish, chicken, steak, seafood, other meat options, plus plenty of sides and desserts. There's something for whatever mood you're in. For my appetizer I ordered the fried green tomatoes. I'm very picky about fried green tomatoes because if they're not done right, they can be greasy and heavy. These were not. They were thick wedges of firm green tomatoes in a light batter, stacked with a spread of pimento cheese and finished with a drizzle of honey. The balance of savory and sweet worked really well, and the texture was exactly what I look for -- crisp outside, tender yet firm inside. For my entrée I chose the roasted lamb rack. It came as two double ribs over a sweet potato purée that had a subtle hint of cinnamon -- really nice flavor without being overpowering. The lamb was cooked to the right temperature, juicy and tender, with a light chimichurri and vegetables alongside. I also ordered the grilled corn succotash as a side -- corn, beans, and tomato. It was fresh and bright and complemented the richness of the lamb perfectly. This is my second time dining here. The first time I had breakfast out on the Westham Porch, and both experiences have been very pleasant.
