This used to be our favourite Asian restaurant. My last review was 5 stars and this one is 1. That pretty much sums up the current state of affairs here. You will see others giving it high ratings as well but obviously they have not visited the place recently. We started noticing the decline after the very popular manager (Bo) left about a year or so ago. Even though the ambiance was gone, we kept going because the food was still the same. Service was not as good but it wasn't bad. Tonight we asked for hibachi and sat there for almost 20 minutes without a server asking us for our drink and appetizer order. We would have gladly waited for the table to fill up if someone came by and took our drink order. The servers ignored us and served only the tables with the hibachi cooks. We finally just gave up and left. We went to the other Hibachi place in Newtown where service and food was "on point". I think we are finally done with Fusion 25 and will be looking to become regulars at a different sushi restaurant. read more

Fusion 25 deserves five stars just for the interior design of the building, what an amazing use or space! It's very much new-age Asian food, complete with a waitress who won't help you at all and barely speaks english. We asked to see a sushi menu and she said no. Unable to get a full menu, we asked for the chef's special roll and when it arrived we had no idea what it was. It tasted like fluke and lemon, and I've attached pictures here. She wouldn't tell us what it was and my party assumed she was the daughter of the owner or something. We almost didn't tip. Otherwise, the fish was okay but I've put off a review of Fusion 25 for a long time to avoid hurting their grand opening with a mediocre review, I hope they do well especially since their hibachi looks great and their sushi was good. I hope you give it a try yourself, and visit the wonderful butcher across the parking lot. read more

If you're looking for a fun time then DO NOT come here! Had a reservation at 7:00pm for hibachi. We have been sitting here for OVER AN HOUR and still no hibachi chef at our table. Fusion 25 is a favorite of our family. Although we love the hibachi, the better experience is sitting at the sushi bar and letting Jimmy make recommendations for the day. He knows his stuff and is very creative! Rosie is also a great waitress and remembers each of us when we go in. They are all attentive and care about the customers very much. We go here 2 to 3 times a year. Not bad! The serving size has gone down, for $35-40 an entree you think they'd be a bit larger. But it is what it is. Chef was good, service was okay, the volcano from the towering onion wasn't anything special and he didn't squirt saki into anyone's mouth! The part I was waiting for. I've been here twice now. Once for drinks and the second time to celebrate my best friends birthday. This place is awesome. Drinks are always very strong, scorpion bowls are delicious and so worth the money! We got hibachi and it was amazing. The courses started out with some broth, then salad, then noodles, rice, and meats. The portion sizes were heaping with plenty of leftovers. Always so delicious. Our cook was excellent, was very patient and funny when it came to catching zucchini in our mouths and gave quite a lot of saki to everyone at our table. Definitely so fun!! Our table mates were very kind and fun as well. We loved the experience. The restaurant came and sang for my friend and the dessert/ the singing candle were awesome. Service was great, although at times our waitress seemed a bit distracted and didn't seem to care about our orders. But the experience and our cook really made up for it! Took our kids for Hibachi on a Saturday night at 515. The service was TERRIBLE for a hibachi experience. We waited 15 minutes for someone to come ask for drink orders then waited another 20 for the chef to come cook. The chef was MISERABLE, didn't smile the entire time, didn't interact with any of us and didn't even say hi to my kids who kept waving at him unfortunately will not be back. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I'm not one to complain, but we had reservations for 7 for hibachi, and weren't seated until 7:15. Our whole table wasn't asked for our drinks until 8:15, and our cook didn't come until 8:35. The orders were all wrong, and he got food all over the table and in our drinks. Chicken came out dry because the cook walked away from the grill. Not to mention, it was freezing in there. I highly suggest you don't waste your time here. In the spirit of helping out good, deserving local businesses survive and enjoying time away from the kitchen, we ordered 2 "chicken, steak and shrimp specials" at $13.50/ea. Little did we know that this business was looking for a cash donation because our meals consisted of mostly dry, cold rice and 2 shrimp, 2 strips of meat and chicken about the length of my fingertip. Small price to pay to let others know we will never return to this restaurant. This business deserves to fail because the food is terrible and that does not serve our community well! read more

Just left Fusion 25 with my wife for our 3 year anniversary. The food was delicious, but what really made it was how nice and accommodating the staff was! I have a dairy allergy and I called ahead to see if they used butter or margarine with dairy and they said yes, but if I wanted they would cook my meal in the kitchen. Since we were the only two at the table they just made our meals with oil instead of butter. It was just as good (if not better!) the waitress came over and checked with me to see if I could eat the other stuff, and checked the ingredients on the dressings which sadly, had dairy. I really appreciated them going above and beyond. Sometimes places can give you attitude or not be that willing to help and these guys were fantastic!! Most of the sushi was good, not great but good. The Toro was very clearly just a piece of loin that had been scored and hit lightly with a torch. If they had just told me they didn't have Toro I would have been happy to try it again, I'm not ok with being charged $14 for 2 pieces of tuna loin that would have come to $6 if thry hadn't lied about product. read more

We had the sushi lunch and the Asian curry with beef. Unfortunately, the curry tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave oven. Hot in some places, lukewarm to cold in some. Ugh! The sushi lunch tastes worse than Toro's, which I already do not have a high opinion of. So, nope, I can check this place off my list as I won't be visiting here again. Being someone who enjoys high quality sushi, I always get a little skeptical when trying new sushi restaurants, especially fusion restaurants. Fusion 25 took me by surprise though and I thoroughly enjoyed what they had to offer. My buddy and I walked in and were seated immediately at a table in the back near the bar, which is fully stocked mind you. The decor and lighting fit well and gave it a nice calming atmosphere. We graced over the drink and dinner menu to gain a feel of what they had to offer, which seemed fairly similar to most fusion restaurants. I'm iffy about fusion restaurants because it seems like every time I order a signature roll it comes out doused in sauce, so there's no legitimate way to taste the individual ingredients going into the dish. However, I ordered a signature roll anyway to give it a shot. The waitress we had was fantastic. We both ordered two Sapporo 22 oz. cans and were willing to pay the full price, but she gave it to us for the happy hour price, even after we were seated 5 minutes after the ending time. She also charged our large hot sake for a small as well. She was super nice, and just attentive enough when we needed her. The food came out soon after. I ordered the Battera signature roll with the Beef Negimaki dinner entree, while my buddy ordered the Fusion 25 signature roll and the Peanut Sauce with Beef dinner entree. Everything was presented incredibly well, especially the small decorations of sauces used on both my sushi plate and entree plate. The sushi was awesome, pretty on par with a few of my favorite sushi restaurants, and wasn't overly sauced whatsoever. You could distinguish the flavors between the three fish pretty easily. The Beef Negimaki was amazing, that's it. I haven't had a good version of this dish since one of my local sushi restaurants closed down about 8 years ago. This was on point, and super nostalgic to me at the same time. I'll be back for more eventually. I don't live too far from Newtown so the drive isn't bad, but my sushi withdrawals have been fulfilled for the time being :). Highly recommend this place. read more

Not really wowed and I've been wanting to come here for years just never stopped in. I get Pad Thai all the time from various restaurants... not hard to make it a good dish. The noodles were like angel hair pasta and some of the chicken pieces were so chewy they didn't feel chicken textured. I asked for a specific soup they said I can have it and I got there and they said that will be extra so I got mushroom soup that was essentially salty water with 3 tiny mushroom pieces. The salad was good but over all if that best part of your lunch special You should go somewhere else. The bar area is very pretty but I'm not here for pretty I'm here for tantalizingly tasty pan Asian food. Quality is important. I went here after hearing many great things about the food. Unfortunately I don't think this place stands up to the high expectations I had. I'd like to give Fusion 25 a 3 star review, but our waitress was so unpleasant I'm taking a star off. After reading other peoples' reviews, I kind of wonder if it's the same waitress they had. She wasn't blatantly mean, but she certainly didn't go out of her way to be friendly or helpful. She checked on us maybe once during the whole visit, and was very abrupt the whole time. Not very polite at all. So she kind of threw off the mood of the lunch for me, honestly. The food was okay but not amazing. As an appetizer, I ordered crab rangoons which ended up being my favorite part of the meal. For my entree I got the chicken udon, and while the noodles were very tasty, the chicken was flavorless and almost rubbery. The one thing I will say about this restaurant is that the decor is beautiful and very classy. It's also very spacious and would probably be fun to bring a big group of people. I might go back if someone invited me, but I wouldn't go here again of my own accord. There is much better Asian food with far better wait staffs in the area! read more

Fusion 25 offers an exceptional balance of traditional Pan-Asian dishes and modern creations presented with masterful artistry.   The Resturant is always upbeat, high energy, and festive.  Credit to the designers for breaking the space up into a traditional Hibachi room, a dining area, a lounge area (perfect for snacking over drinks), a bar, and a lovely outdoor patio.  The place always feels happy. The menu is heavily Japanese influenced, beautiful to the eye, and always delicious.  Sushi it the best available for miles in any direction.  The chefs work hard to get to know your palate, and will often suggest items that are seasonal to the market.  Always be sure to check the specials board to see what goodies they found in the markets. The kitchen is first class as well.  Apps in the lounge can't be beat! Hard not to have fun at Fusion 25.  Just go and enjoy yourself.  Prices are pretty reasonable too! read more

I don't go out for sushi very often but I do enjoy it and decided to give fusion 25 a try The Decour is modern and nicely done. The restaurant has three sections, a dining room with the bar area, sushi bar with additional seating, and a hibachi area. For dinner I had the Sushi & Sashimi Combo which I thought was tasted excellent, and was plated nicely. The waitstaff was attentive without being overly so. The prices are about average and the portions are good. Overall I thought it was a very nice experience and would definitely try it again read more

Ambience is great! I loved the decor - Original and modern. Music was a good volume and I liked that the bar was in the back on its own. Food was a little blah, but all I tried was the sushi. I tried the Newtown roll and the sweet potato roll. Not the worst, but not the best. And I agree with another reviewer: more variety in sushi combinations would be awesome, as everything on the special sushi menu had tempura options as opposed to raw options. Prices were fair, although I didn't take a look at the drink menu. I would definitely regular this place with the hubs for a quick drink and appetizer - not my main sushi place though. The place is crazy busy on a weekend and the owner seemed to be a bit of a nervous bug running back and forth making me nervous but overall the food was good and no complaints. I keep looking for a great sushi place so the review is based on that. Hibachi is popular locally and pretty good/fun. But having a hard time finding really great quality and style in sushi nearby. There are some good creative roll options but the nigiri as a pure metric is either not a great cut, small pieces, or too much rice. I want to love it and i probably will order again, but I am still searching for the best sushi place around. read more

Accidently wrote this review about a month ago for a similarly named restaurant in Bethel instead of this one, so here it is about the correct restaurant: Sushi was great, and there are a lot of other great menu items. I went with one of the sushi platters. 9-10 pieces of sushi and a few rolls. The presentation was impressive and the fish was fresh. The restaurant itself is very fancy and modern, however, it is not intimidating at all. The staff is very friendly and attentive. My complaint is that they were out of 2 menu items that I intended to order, the oyster shooters and the dumplings. I thought that was pretty poor considering it was a Friday night. I ordered a bunch of different rolls and none of them was good. I honestly think it's one of the worst rolls I've ever had. First, What I hate the most was they are really cheap at their ingredients. They filled up the rolls with the cheapest ingredient. For example, Newton roll should have shrimp tempura and lobster salad, but I didn't see any other than slight little red sauce around very thick tempura batter. Eel avocado roll has tiny little eel. Spider roll, I couldn't even tell that has soft shell crabs in it. All I see was thick tempura batter. All other rolls, I've got were all like that. Also tempura batter was not only thick, but extremely greasy. I felt so sick after I ate them. Secondly , the rice was not well seasoned which is the most basic, but important thing for sushi. Last, every single rolls were drenched with sweet teriyaki sauce unlike many other sushi roll places try to use different sauces or at least not drench with sweet sauce. It just makes me suspicious that they are trying to hide the poor ingredients. read more

The food and mixed drinks were expensive and the portions were very small. The wait staff were very inattentive and I had to actually get up and search for our waitress, When I found her she was hanging near the bar texting on her phone and got an attitude when I asked her to come over and take our orders. When we finished up our check was $76.00 and I left a $10.00 tip on the table which was very generous for the service we received. A few days later when I went on line and looked at my bank statement , I saw that Fusion 25 had charged my debit card for $108.00. When I called they said a bigger tip was written in for the waitress. I went there and and after a brief argument with the manager he gave me the $22.00 back and asked that I never return there. Great Sushi and lots of variety but terrible cocktails. It tasted like we were drinking straight Vodka, not that it's a bad thing but when you expect a nice drink sometimes it's just not enjoyable. Top three of the worst cocktails I've had. In addition, we wanted a wrap our sushi in cucumber or a seaweed wrap and not white rice. Waitress said okay but then came back and said she had to charge us more. That's a bunch of junk but we said okay. Five minutes later she came back and said they couldn't do it. A favorite restaurant of ours, this is a beautiful modernly decorated place, with oval tray ceilings with recessed lighting that changes color. The main ding area is very simple and sophisticated, good for socializing. The Hibachi area is a bit sparse, and in the summer it gets too hot (large bay windows let in the early evening sunlight like a greenhouse) but in the winter it's perfectly comfortable. The Sushi bar is a bit small, and not well placed as people walk by as they head to the main dining area. The food is important of course, and it is quite good. An interesting fusion of Chinese, Japanese & Thai food. They do good sushi, nice gyoza, and their Pad Thai is a favorite. As is the Raspberry Smoothie! The staff are always very friendly. read more

So my boyfriend and I went to fusion for a friend of mines birthday celebration. To was our first time there, along with a few other of her friends and herself and we all wanted to try it out. When we walked in, the place did look very modern and was definitely gorgeous, you could tell they put a lot of thought into the design of the inside. When we sat down, we ordered our drinks and we began to get comfortable and began to talk and catch up. we ordered food, did the hibachi(cooking in front of you), that was amazing along with the food, but it was when we got ready to leave and got the checks that everything went completely downhill. Back when we first walked in, we had told them that we want separate checks and we even pointed out who was together within checks, etc. when we received the check, we had gotten one check not separated like we had explained multiple times. Then, when we explained to the, again that we wanted separate checks, she seemed very confused so one of our friends had to go up to her while she was at the computerized register and explain to her further. While he was up there, she asked HIM if he would actually punch everything into the WORKERS register(wtf?!?). Then when we got the checks separated, we were shocked to find that we we ALL charged with 18% gratuity, without any notice or warning of any kind, we even went back and looked at the menu and one of us went to the front of the restaurant to see if there was any sign or anything and their was none. We were very confused, frustrated, and annoyed. Then two of the separated checks were messed up, and the birthday girl got charged for her own birthday surprise that she was not even aware that she was receiving. and then the BEST(worst, absolutely worst) part, was after one of our friends who had already paid, they tried charging her card a second time and it was denied, and the waitress stood their and argued with us, then looked at the rest of us and told US that since we were all her good friends, that we should just pick up the tab, completely unprofessional, rude, and just plain nasty. We came here for my fathers birthday, we had 4 kids with us and the only reason we came is because we all love the hibachi entertainment. This was our 1st time here and the guy who did the hibachi was quiet and boring, not at all what we are used to, we were all disappointed, the kids especially. The food was average. If you're looking for a fun hibachi experience there is another place in Newtown that's fun. Sorry we wasted our evening here. read more
