Hands down the best sushi and sashimi from 84 to Southern Fairfield County. From someone who knows. I see some reviewers suggesting that the quality of fish here is on par with Ichiro. Simply not true. The only places in this area for truly amazing rolls with the finest protein are Fusion 25 and Asian Bistro in Shelton. It's truly not even close. Suggest a seat at the sushi bar and let the guys take care of you. The sushi chefs are unparalleled at their skill and knowledge. You can't find Blue Point Oysters or king Salmon like this anywhere. Do yourself a favor and order a special roll like the Sandy Hook or Monroe and tack on some king sashimi or some baby yellowfin. It's good to understand why their fish is better and the best way to do that is fish and fish alone. Uni (sea urchin) for the adventurous is to die for. Often available live! Truly, for those who know and care why sushi done right is nothing like, well, plain sushi, Fusion 25 is the place to be. Liked the atmosphere, prices were reasonable, meal was fresh and tasty but the sesame shrimp and chicken was not like any other we ever had. It was served up in a very bright red sweet sauce. The sushi rolls were falling apart and I found the sushi to have a "fishiness" to it. If you eat sushi you know it's not a strong "fishy" flavor. I will try it again hoping they are just getting it together only being open since Sept. I would have give 3.5 if I could have. read more

Fusion is a unique and hip dining experience. A japanese steakhouse with a fusion flair, they offer hibachi as well as regular appetizers, salads, sushi and entrees. There is a dining room area, hibachi area, sushi bar and bar/lounge area. The actual bar is not incredibly large but the lounge is spacious, while also cozy and upbeat. The decor is fun and colorful. There is also an outdoor patio to enjoy in the warm weather. The food at Fusion is consistently delicious. Their salads are fresh and crisp; I've had one with grilled chicken which was perfectly seared and seasoned (and came topped with potato chips, an awesome surprise). I tend to eat their beef fried rice, second only to Asian Bistro in Shelton, originally (and perhaps still) their sister restaurant. It is always fantastic. Their Teriyaki beef is always cooked perfectly and a solid portion size. The beef negimaki appetizer is also delicious, but heavy on the scallions for sure. Their hibachi is good; but for some reason not as good as the rest of their food and not as good as Toro's hibachi down on Church Hill. The overall ambience of the restaurant is great. It is fun and great food. The service however, on more than one occasion, has been poor. It seems like an issue of either being understaffed or just poorly trained servers. The manager always comes around to greet you and is very friendly, but the servers are often inattentive and it can be difficult to get their attention when needed. Absolutely recommend this restaurant - great choice for happy hour or a group to go out together! read more

Stopped here on my way home from work because I was dying for some chicken pad Thai. I was so disappointed. The pad Thai noodles were not standard, they were thin and over cooked. The sauce tasted more like soy sauce than pad Thai peanut sauce. It did not satisfy my craving and was not worth the price. I've had their sushi which was very good. I was surprised at the quality of the pad Thai. I gave them 3 stars instead of 2 because the host who greeted me, checked me out, and brought me my order was so incredibly nice. This is exactly yelp's description of 3 star- an "a-ok" restaurant. Food is pretty standard. Nothing (in my opinion, obviously) is particularly outstanding. That's not to say it's bad, just not amazing. I prefer toro's menu, particularly because there are better vegetarian options and toro has tofu. Among many other dishes, I've had the veg pad Thai twice and it's not what I really expect from pad Thai. Flavors fall a little flat. My dad and brother are regulars and we came in last week, were seated and no one came to even take a drink order for about 20 minutes. Someone who looked to be a manager was standing 2 tables away chatting up some woman. Anyway, we walked out and another manager actually came out and apologized, saying we were his regular customers and our meal was on the house. It was a really nice gesture. Decent food, poor customer service. We went there a couple days ago with a party of 10 for hibachi. The food was alright, kinda that good but not great line, I expected better for what we paid. I got the fillet and scallops and my fillet was over cooked a bit and the scallops were undercooked. Everything else was on par to what you should expect with hibachi. Our server was attentive and always made sure we had what we needed. However once dinner was served it was a massive rush to get us to eat and be finished. We were all still eating dinner when they asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu and when we said no the check showed up and the server hovered waiting for us to pay. We paid and while we were waiting for the card and slip to come back they packed up our food that some were not completely done with. We got the check back, signed, handed it back and were just finishing our drinks when the server came over and asked us to leave because they had another party waiting to get in for hibachi. I was pretty upset about that considering we were there for only an 1 hour 15 minutes from the time we got out of the car until the time we got back in it and there were a bunch of other hibachi tables that were there before us and still there when we were asked to leave. Not to mention we just dropped just shy of $400.00 you would think we would have been able to finish our drinks. Thanks for no thanks, I do not think I am going to come back. We went here because Groupon was advertising a deal on it. Also, our previous favorite fusion restaurant in Ridgefield closed, so we needed to find a suitable replacement. My husband and I decided since we bought the Groupon we had to try it some time- that and I had cravings for special rolls. Well we were certainly very satisfied with our experience! This place is great for lunch or dinner. I'm a vegetarian and I love the vegetable hibachi meal. At lunch there isn't anything special except that you get a double portion of the vegetables that everyone gets. At dinner they make an effort to give you a portion of different vegetables, in addition to the regular ones. My son loves the filet mignpn. He says it's cooked perfectly every time. Worse hibachi we ever had. The chef had no personality, we were rushed, the food was mediocre at best and not cooked well. They started with the typical soup and salad but this was not as good as usually served at hibachi restaurants. I had steak and scallops, some of the steak was so tough I was thought I was not going to be able to swallow it and it was thrown so quickly on our plates that two of us had grease splash on our clothes. Not all the scallops had color to them so I didn't finish them. They do give you a huge amount of rice, they charge extra for fried rice, and large portion of noodles which were my favorite part of the meal. Not going back here again. read more

There are three Asian restaurants in Newtown that are worth visiting- Toro, Sweet Mango, and Fusion 25. Their sushi is probably the best of the three. Most other dishes aged on par with the rest. I enjoy their Pad Tai- there are two types- the thin noodles and another with very thick, dense noodles too reminiscent of worms to be enjoyable. Only down side is the fat pricing if top shelf drinks- $10 for a Hendrik's and tonic? Normally $6-7 elsewhere. Also like most Asian restaurants, the constantly hovering wait staff can be annoying. read more

Nice spot, pretty much your typical multi-asian, Americanized restaurant, straddling Chinese, Thai, Japanese and other pacific styles. Food is fresh, imaginative and the menu is extensive. Very good crispy snapper with that endorsement coming from a guy that doesn't jump at fish dishes often. Service is very polite and attentive. Pricing is up a bit, serving are nicely generous and atmosphere is lively, but not loud at all. Hibatchi is available, have not tried it yet. But Fusion 25 is a safe frequent visit that doesn't disappoint or have off days. read more

We love hibachi however we were thoroughly disappointed. We made a reservation for five people and were stuck on a piece of wood that connected the two counters BEHIND THE CHEF. They failed to do the proper portions and split the final portion of rice between two people. We spoke with management but they did not sufficiently address the issue.
