    Hot and sour soup
    William W.

New Wok is one of the few options for Chinese food in the area. This was our go to Chinese spa for quite a while and was never really that spectacular, but I feel like it has been declining a little bit and taste and quality. You have to be very specific on what you order here if you want it to be decent. They are fried foods like General sales chicken or sesame. Chicken is OK, it's a bit flavorless, but at least it's crispy. Beef and broccoli is very basic, and their other fried appetizers are a bit on the greasy side. Their fried rice is probably the worst I have had, it almost looks like white rice with vegetables in it. A lot of times we go for the hot and sour soup and a wonton soup for a cheaper dinner but honestly, the hot and sour soup is also one of the worst ones I've had. Even the crunchy noodles they give you are always stale. It is always disappointing unfortunately. It's not a whole lot better but oriental gourmet in Southbury is a better choice if you want to take a little drive.

Local restaurant with high quality authentic Chinese food. Always pleasantly greeted with quick service.

Sweet and sour chicken and steamed vegetable dumplings 5 stars. This is my favorite Chinese food place in Newtown ct.

We went for an early dinner. Because we had not had lunch, we were starving. This place is located in a shopping mall so there is plenty of parking. In fact, we've always gotten to park really close. Because we were so early, we were the only patrons and the waitress brought us to the front. It was cold, so I ordered wonton soup. My husband said he didn't want an appetizer or soup. They quickly served us nice hot jasmine tea, pickled vegetables and ice water. The soup was served quickly and smelled wonderful. I offered my husband a taste, but he said "no" and decided to order the scallion pancake, lol. Now I make wonton soup at home, so I have to say this was Wonderful wonton soup. You could taste they used roasted garlic and that the wontons were fresh. Yes, I thought they were a little light on the filling, but then this is an appetizer. My husband's scallion pancakes came out quickly too, and he finished them in a heartbeat. The entrees arrived shortly after and we dug in. I asked for mild spicy, and they delivered! Not too spicy, yet I could detect some spicy aftertaste. The chicken was nicely fried and the shrimp was sweet. It tasted almost like sweet & sour shrimp. There was so much, I could barely finish half the plate. My husband was able to eat more of his plate, but he did have to take about a quarter of his home. Normally that doesn't happen (he finished the Whole thing). And yes, he did like his very much. Unfortunately, I couldn't take a bite because his entree was Really spicy (the way he likes it). I thought the white rice was a bit undercooked, but that's my opinion. Overall, a good meal. As for service, I thought it was ok. I did have to call the young girl over a couple of times. But there was a waiter who took over after and refreshed our waters, albeit after we were done. We've been here a few times, and it seems like they are more of a take-out trade than sit down service. People were calling left and right and people were coming to pick up their order. When we left, another group had just been seated. So maybe service is a bit slow, but this is definitely worth the visit. The food is good and not more expensive than other places we've been (and we've been to A Lot of chinese food places). I don't think they use MSG (haven't been extra thirsty) and can't wait to try something new on our next visit! ;)

The undercooked Szechuan dumplings that I had to throw out because it was NOT EDIBLE.

Not edible...I thought it might be good based on the reviews but definitely a NO GO . I'm sorry but it was undercooked, greasy and the taste was awful.

Great service and above average Chinese food. This area doesn't have many options, so it was nice to find a place we would go to again. We had veggie spring rolls, General Tso's Chicken and Garlic Broccoli. All very tasty.

    Nice atmosphere

Best Chinese in Connecticut. Eat here once a week, twice if I'm lucky. I'm moving and feel so sad leaving them behind.

I signed up for an account just to write this review lol…read more My favorite place in all of Bethel! The food is very affordable and delicious. I've had pho from hundreds of restaurants and I would say Asian Kitchen is in my top 5. The usual Chinese American dishes are also a 10/10. I've lived in Bethel my whole life and I didn't know I needed this place until it opened. Will, the owner is a very charismatic person who's always so friendly and outgoing. Wish this place great success and highly recommend everyone give them a try. You won't be disappointed!

Stopped by for a late lunch…read more Open floor. No one was there seated, but it was around 2pm on a Friday. We were led to a table against the wall. Waiter was friendly and gave us some time to make our selections. I chose the egg roll, tangerine beef. Hubby chose the orange chicken. I asked the waiter if the soda came in a can. He said yes. We then waited for our meal. He returned quickly with my soda, in a glass with lots of ice. Not what I expected. But I guess I wasn't specific about my drink order. My egg roll was good. Cut decoratively in half at an angle, piping hot. Our food arrived shortly. Both plates were generous and came with white rice. Cut a portion in small pieces to taste with rice. Tasted so good, burned my tongue a little it was so hot. Ate a bit more, and that's when my mouth started burning up! The dish was a little more spicy than I expected. Tried to eat more, but it was too much for me. My hubby on the other hand was in his glory. He Loves heat. The spiciest the better. He tried mine and said it was just as spicy as his, which he loved. So, I just thought we would take mine home for him to enjoy later. I have to say it was good, before I had to cry uncle. So would definitely have to return for another try and let them know I can't take the spiciness. I did notice that the restaurant was busy with takeout orders. So I guess that's their main business. So I wouldn't say this was a cozy place. But the food is good. Lots of parking outside since they're next to a supermarket and liquor store. There weren't any 'lunch' specials, so this was over $50 with tip. By the way, lots to choose from the menu. I only took pictures of some pages.
