This unassuming take out restaurant is consistently top rate. Food is fresh, vegetables perfectly cooked. Open kitchen is spotless. Staff is all business but with a smile. We have never been disappointed. A must for your take out rotation! read more

Food was fresh, hot, fast, not dripping with grease, the portions were perfect and the price was right. Everything we ordered was delicious and still nice and hot when we arrived home which was a (20 minute drive due to rush hour traffic) Orange chicken combo, sm barbecue spare ribs, general tso combo, beef & broccoli combo and an order of their Chinese donuts. This is our new favorite Chinese takeout since moving from NYC to CT. Please take note: the parking lot is small, fills quickly, is on an angle and a hill, the parking can be treacherous use caution read more

Many Chinese take out places have declined in the Danbury/Brewster area, but Moon Star has remained consistent in turning out great food! Whenever I call, the nice woman who answers is friendly, calls me by name, and demonstrates her appreciation for my business. Yesterday afternoon, 2/13/25, I placed a big order: Wonton soup, pork fried rice, bbq spare ribs, steamed dumplings sesame chicken, and chicken with broccoli. Everything was delicious, cooked freshly, and portions were generous. Some places cut corners by giving less chicken, but Moon Star puts plenty of chicken in the meals. I was allowed to take a 2-liter bottle of soda for free, and to our surprise, there was a HUGE portion of freshly-made fried dough (my wife's favorite!) If you are looking for a good place to order Chinese take out, Moon Star is it! read more

Best Chinese takeout in the area! Staff is super friendly. Food outstanding....fresh high quality ingredients and freshly prepared. Dumplings, both vegetarian and pork, are made by hand in the store and not mass produced by a supplier. Singapore Mai Fun is best Ive ever had anywhere. Szechuan beef, Ma La chicken are my favs! read more

Service was fine; food was mediocre at best. Portions were large. Wonton soup had an unusual flavor to the broth. Lo Mein looked awesome. My cashew chicken just had cashews sprinkled on top of a chicken basic veggie dish. Egg rolls very doughy. Will go again for the lo mein!! read more

Amazing food and great service if spend $50 or more you get free fried donuts $ a 2 Liter of any

I passed by many times. I hesitate to order Chinese take out from an unfamiliar kitchen in Connecticut, as I have found the quality varies within a short radius. Prompted by two local teens who raved about Moon Star (!), I gave Moon Star a try this afternoon and ordered my usual go to of shrimp and broccoli with white sauce. It was the best I have experienced! Proportions were more generous than found elsewhere, and the size of shrimp was larger and cooked to perfection. (One caveat -- I ordered the same as a lunch special once and the shrimp were much smaller.) There is a small attractively decorated seating area. Parking is easy and the location is near popular shopping destinations for those in eastern NYS and western Connecticut (e.g. Costco, Stew Leonard's, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Home Depot) and a major hospital (Danbury). A quick swing off the I-84 Exit 6 ramp. read more

I ordered my food to go and it was ready within 10 mins. I used to love Chinese food back in the Bronx and Mahopac. Up until this moment I haven't found a restaurant I would recommend that sells Chinese food. I'm thrilled to tell you, I have!!! The best - Shrimp rolls - Wonton Soup - Sesame Chicken - Steamed Vegetable Dumplings - House Special Fried Rice. I literally went back the next day. This place is only setup for pickup so don't expect to sit down. read more

Still a five star experience, after all these years. I actually moved to California for like a year and recently moved back, and it's the first place we came back to when we arrived from our cross country trek! My wife and I still consider Moonstar our go-to Chinese takeout place in all Danbury. It suits our tastes of toasty, generous portions without the grease that weve experienced at other takeout joints in the area. Some people actually like their food more saucy and oily, though. If that's you, try the one up the road a bit. Emily works regularly at the front and is the sweetest person!!! read more

This is our go-to Chinese place. Good food. Decent prices. Quick service. I typically order the same things and have a consistent experience. That is really important. read more

Best service. Good food, good price. Very friendly people. Love to go there. Kids love general sauce and garlic sources.

Overpriced and not good at all. By far the worst black bean sauce dish I've ever had. Very low quality Chinese takeout.

Wife loved healthy ingredients. Looked and tasted great. Out of the way but worth it.

Hands down THE BEST crab Rangoons I've ever had. I cannot get enough of them! I will travel 20 minutes to get to this restaurant for these rather than going to a place five minutes from my house. SO good! read more

Terrible! I had ordered my food like usual, made it clear and everything. i got my food and walked out, but once i got home some of the food i ordered was missing. So i drive back to the place and tell the lady what happened in a calm manner. Well the lady got Mad and started raising her voice saying i was a lier and that i was wrong. It got to the point where i just asked for my money back and she started slamming food and money onto the counter angrily and yelled "Do Me a favor and NEVER come back" Seriously would never reccomend this place since the people are not nice. read more

Solid all around. The egg rolls were bigger than normal Chinese restaurants and really good. The soups were flavorful and they gave extra crispy noodles without asking. The only reason for a non 5 star review was the flavor of the sweet and sour chicken order. It may have been a simple mistake but I ordered 2 sweet and sour chicken entrees and one of the orders was bland. Not overly so, but enough to recognize a difference in the orders. read more

I will literally never buy Chinese food anywhere else! The woman at the front is SO sweet (and sometimes recognizes my mom's voice on the phone ). Their food is amazing, and it's always ready in less than 15 minutes. I can't recommend this place more!!! read more

This place is !! Came to visit my family and wanted some good chinese food because it's been a while since I've had some. Ordered some shrimp and broccoli, spareribs and Mom had lemon pepper wings and it was soooo darn good!!! Everything was cooked perfectly and it wasn't full of grease either; bonus!!! Service was quick and staff was super nice. Before I leave CT I will make another visit to this place. Definitely satisfied my Chinese craving and surpassed my expectations . My family orders from here all the time and they told me it's the best chinese food in town and I agree. read more

My quest to find the best Chinese take-out place in the greater Danbury area lead me to Moon Star a few nights ago. It was difficult to find any information, but the reviews I managed to find were generally 4/5 and 5 star reviews. Well...I was totally dissappointed. To be fair, I only ordered one item, so perhaps the rest of the menu is better. I ordered the Sesame Chicken entree and subbed eggplant for the broccoli. First off, they upcharged for the substitution - which is understandable - BUT - there were literally 2 tiny pieces of eggplant in the entire dish. As for the appearance and taste - blah - just regular ol' take-out Sesame Chicken: dark, gooey, overly sweet, small clumps. I was really hoping for better than or at least on par to Jeffrey's Chinese Kitchen quality - which is nice orange, lightly fried, long strips of chicken, with tons of veggies and restaurant quality taste. Given that Jeffrey's is less than a mile away from this place - I would definitely recommend skipping Moon Star. PS: My runner up so far is Bethel Chinese Kitchen. Kind of pricier though. read more

The BEST Chinese food I have ever had. The spring rolls have chicken and cheese in them, totally Americanized but AWESOME. They make my chicken and cashews with sauce on the side no extra charge and their Cashews are so yummy (i think they might be from heaven). Their crab Rangoon are never too greasy and nothing has been over sauced (the broccoli is still crunchy). I would always recommend them to anyone in the area, seriously they are awesome. read more

Really good Cantonese food. I've enjoyed their egg foo young, house special fried rice, boneless spare ribs and their triple delight dish. All very good. read more

My absolute favorite Chinese take out in Danbury. For starters, they have a very, very clean kitchen. Their food is very tasty and they use no MSG. That's right, no MSG! That is unheard of for most Chinese takeout spots. Their fried rice is not that usual artificial yellow color, it's not drowned in soy sauce either and is probably one of the best fried rices I've ever had. Their boneless spare ribs are really broiled in the oven and taste superb. They have good quality ingredients and food, and they take the time to make it that way. If you're looking for greasy, old Chinese food, I suggest you visit other local Chinese take spots. If you're looking for fresh, non-greasy, tasty Chinese, this is the place! read more

Amazing food. My favorite in town! All their vegetarian options are delicious! Highly recommended.

I gave up on trying to find a decent Chinese food restaurant in Danbury, until someone told me about Moon Star. The food is delicious! Not that frozen generic garbage a lot of the other restaurants have. The restaurant itself is clean and has a nice atmosphere. The woman who took my order was friendly and very welcoming. My family and I will definitely have this place as our Chinese food go-to. read more
