If you enjoy quality Italian food, or even just Italian food, please do not come here. Every item we ordered just didn't meet the mark. The penne someone at our table ordered looked stale and my gnocchi tasted bland. It was loud and the service was slow. Also, we had a member of our party with a food allergy. We enjoyed this restaurant very much, it was nice to find a place on the island for a "normal" meal, what I mean is that if you are eating out every night for over a week not every night has to be a gourmet meal that will break the bank. We had a simple meal of meatballs and pasta and a couple of glasses of red wine. We had more than enough to eat even without appetizers and dessert. Our waitstaff was friendly and attentive. The price was like a breath of fresh air, our financial situation is comfortable but even we need to take a break from 7 night of prices that make your blood pressure skyrocket. I read several reviews on here where dinners complained of rudeness, I don't think I have ever experienced rudeness on the entire island in 40 years, I think some guests leave their manners at home when they come on vacation, try some politeness along with a smile.....it goes along way. Our group of 12 went here this evening hoping for a decent fun family meal. Unfortunately (for me? for them?) it was not fun, and barely decent. Problem 1: no reservations. On a foodie island such as this and as busy as this, any place that doesn't take reservations you should steer clear from unless you're willing to put your name in at 4pm the afternoon before you eat. We called saying we were coming and the owner, Stacey, told us that she'd be able to seat us around 8. We arrived at 8 and checked in at the hostess stand every ten minutes following; we did not sit down until after 9. An hour-plus wait with a party of twelve including 4 young kids is not a good combination. Problem 2: service. To put it bluntly, the service sucked. Yes, our waitress was nice, but clearly had no idea of what she was doing and who was ordering what. To request an ice water my grandmother had to wait 20 minutes and then another 10 following that to receive it. We asked for napkins three times before our waitress truly received the memo, and we all had to explicitly request another drink rather than being offered one. Upon arrival, the place was packed. However, after waiting an hour to sit, it completely emptied out and thus someone would expect our servers to be at least somewhat committed to our table. Unfortunately, this was not in any way the case (and according to other reviews I've seen of this place, is not usually the case). Problem 3: food. Although this wasn't really a problem, the food didn't blow anyone away. Boxed, somewhat overcooked pastas and slightly charred thin crust pizzas scattered our table. They were fine yet could have easily been made (albeit even better) at home. There is much better Italian food to be found on this Island (Ventuno isn't bad). Although I like the family/generational idea, I think a little more thought into their menu (maybe MAKE your own pasta?) would go a long ways in this venture. Clearly none of this seems to be a problem because when we went on a Wednesday night the restaurant was packed. And as some others have said, maybe we went on an off night. But if you're planning a family or intimate dinner on the Island I wouldn't recommend Fusaros. read more

There is a reason why there is a mile-long waitlist on summer nights at Fusaro's. The food is fresh, the menu is extensive, the bar is home to the best bartender on island (Melissa) and the chef is tireless and talented. For diet-friendly patrons, the pasta in any dish can be replaced by zuchetti (zuchini noodles) and gluten-free pizza crusts are always available. Pretty much any item on the menu can be customized. I have never had a bad experience here. The service has always been prompt, curteous and thorough and the food has always been incredible. Don't believe the grumpy summer folks leaving bad reviews here or the people leaving reviews for the wrong restaurant. (lol) read more

We dined here on 8/7 to celebrate my son' s wedding engagement with his lovely lady, Ana. They seated the four of us at a perfect outdoor table amid plants and a water feature. The meal was delicious, old school Italian. Just what we needed. The staff all sang happy engagement as they presented couple with delicious cheesecake with raspberry glaze. After we ordered, it took 1 hour and 15 mins to get the food. Server checked on us once in that hour and fifteen minutes. Food was ok, but certainly not worth the wait or the terrible service. The food is a solid 3 stars, decent Italian fare. The olive oil was good, bread was solid, and my bolognese had a healthy portion of meat. The pasta was a little overcooked for my taste, though of a good quality, and I can't imagine I am the only one with picky tastebuds on the island. Our service was good, accommodating, and attentive, though I can imagine that the reason this place is only 3 stars is that, with only average food, the service is not quite worth the wait. I'm not sure if this restaurant just doesn't hit the mark with their seasonal workers or what. The two owners(?) were friendly and attentive. I have no idea why this place has only 3 stars. It is on par with equivalent island restaurants of this type - i.e. family friendly comfort food. A typical pasta dish is about $23 so it isn't cheap. I wouldn't eat at a restaurant if there were plenty of other options, like on the mainland. But on Nantucket, it will do. Consider it a little better than Olive Garden. So family friendly atmosphere and decent enough food. The pizza here, while mediocre, is definitely better than other pizzas I've had on the island so far. (Which is why when we want pizza, we go to Stop and Shop and grab whatever frozen pizza is on sale - 1/4th the price and tastes just as good.) If a simple pasta dish (portions here are small) didn't cost $23, I'd eat here more often. They should double the portion size or cut the prices in half. Decent in comparison to other island restaurants, and you could do worse. For italian, count it as an option if you want to eat out. Frankly, we eat here when we're too lazy to cook, but you could make the same stuff yourself with basic cooking skills at 1/10th the cost. So I'm contradicting myself. For an island restaurant this should be 4 stars. Anywhere else, I'd give it 2.5 stars. read more

Second visit to this new restaurant and a bit disappointed. Invited several friends to join us after bragging about the food and service from this past summer. The place was packed on a Saturday night so we were glad that we made a reservation. Service was very good, but the food didn't meet our expectations. The eggplant fries and meatballs were excellent, but everything else was A-ok. The menu is much different in the restaurant than what they post online. I love the food from Fusaro's but will never order again after they gave us the worst customer service EVER today. We ordered takeout at 5:25pm and received an email back saying order would be ready at 7:30. I called 10 TIMES to cancel the order but no one answered. It was a $300 order for 3 families so I was stuck waiting 2 hours for dinner. Then I was ready and waiting at the restaurant at 7:30 and food wasn't ready until 8:15. I understand restaurants are overwhelmed with reopening right now but people were RUDE and blamed me that my order was too big! They had 2 hours to prepare!!!! read more

Fusaro's is a nice, family-friendly restaurant that you wouldn't know existed unless you knew the island or happened to pass by due to its location. It's nice to get out of the hustle and bustle of Town, and they have a decent sized parking lot. It's not far from the bike path either. The decor reminds me of an older Italian restaurant (circa the 90s but not in a bad way), but the ambience is pleasant and not too loud. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She gave us good recommendations and never pushed us to order more. The veal parm was sizzling hot and incredibly tender. This was definitely the highlight of my meal. The accompanying penne was decent (not al dente though), but I definitely preferred the sauce over the pasta. The sauce had a good consistency, texture and flavor. The pollo al limone was good as well, but my companion would have preferred pasta over the zucchetti. We also shared the charred cauliflower (nice flavor, but I did wish that some of the pieces were a bit crunchier) and cannoli for dessert. The cannoli filling is made in restaurant while the shell is not. The filling was not overly sweet or ricotta-y and while tasty, seemed like it was missing something (perhaps the chocolate chips were too soft from being in the mixture?). Prices are surprisingly low given the portion size and location - Nantucket is not cheap! Most entrees were below $25 which is a rarity this season. This is definitely a place to bring a group of people. I will come back and try some of the appetizers next time! read more

Fusaro's - Cannoli - Italian Near Me - Nantucket, Massachusetts

I've been here twice now, and both times were fantastic. When it comes to Italian food, I mostly keep it simple with what I like, and almost every time I am going to order Chicken Parm, which I once again did at this gem on Nantucket. Here are a couple rules to eating out on Nantucket that if you understand, you will enjoy your time. 1. You are going to wait for a table. Most restaurants on Nantucket are small, meaning you will wait to eat, especially if like Fusaro's they do not accept reservations. 2. You are going to normally pay a bit more for a meal you could get on the mainland so you have to take that into account when dining (you will see in my other tip for Nix's Brewpub, that their are limits to what you should consider acceptable) If you understand these two rules, you will enter Fusaro's with the correct expectations and thoroughly enjoy your meal. For this venture, we arrived with a party of 6 and waited about 45 minutes to be seated, but were able to order appetizers and drinks at the bar while waiting for our table to clear. I got the Fried Mozzarella as an appetizer and as a connoisseur of fried mozzerella appetizers, I can affirmatively tell you that you will not be disappointed if you order this. The cheese is fresh and the marinara is zesty and light. For the main course I ordered the Chick Parm, naturally, and my sister, a regular decided to order a buffalo chicken pizza. My chicken parm was easily on the top 5 that I have gotten at a restaurant. Similar to the friend mozzarella, the ingredients were fresh, zesty, and the portion was excellent including a side of linguine. Overall the restaurant was reasonably priced, especially for Nantucket, and the food was very good. I would not recommend going with very large groups seeing as there is limited seating, however on a normal summer day they have an outdoor patio; I happened to eat here in the winter, and on a very rainy day. read more

My husband and I are on our "baby moon" and it is our first time in Nantucket. We ordered the 'Carolina' pizza that was on the online menu and told that they do not make that pizza anymore. So we ordered green peppers and bacon. We were disappointed to be paying an additional $6.50 for approximately 12 bits of bacon and maybe 9 thinly slivers of green pepper spread onto the pizza VERY unevenly. We had to redistribute the toppings to have some on each piece. We would not return. read more

My friends and I were in Nantucket for LDW / one of our birthdays. We found this restaurant on yelp and decided to give it a try as it wasn't in town and close to where we were staying. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a friendly woman up at the front. She sat all six of us right away. Right away we knew it was going to be a good experience. She sat us and told us our waiter would be over shortly. He was delightful. He was joking along with our group and made the dinner a fun experience. We sat outside on the front patio with another large group for someones birthday and a few other smaller groups. It was a great at atmosphere and a perfect pre-going out dinner. Good food, reasonably priced for the island, but compelled to report an aggressive waitstaff for a restaurant that calls itself family friendly. Yeah we get it you put us all in the corner but we are reasonable adults and can handle simple things like fake plastic candles. The server physically ripped the candle out of my son's hand, and it was aggressive and startling to all of us, especially to a child. We've been coming here for years, what a shame. read more

I visited this this restaurant with my girlfriend last night and it is absolutely horrible. It's packed tight with no A/C that I noticed but we figured it would take too long to get anywhere else and decided to sit down. For our appetizer we had the "Mozzarella Fritta" which were quite good but not what I expect when I order something with such a fancy name. They were glorified mozzarella sticks but quite good. They came out quickly as did our drinks. However, after this our waiter went MIA due to overcrowding and being understaffed. When we did finally order our food, it took about a half hour to come out. I got the chicken parmesan with penne (topped with a marinara). The marinara was easily the best part of this meal. Quite good to be honest. However, the pasta was overcooked to the point where it was practically a liquid and the chicken, well let's just say I've had better freezer chicken parm dinners. After choking down about 1/4 of my food I asked my girlfriend how hers was because mine was inedible and she agreed that her pasta was overcooked but the sausage in her dish was actually okay. So we continued until we'd both forced down about 1/3 of each of our meals. Finally, when the waiter came back around (40?) minutes later, I told him, "Sir, I really don't mean to be rude and I know it certainly is not your fault, as I too work in a restaurant. But this food was truly inedible. The pasta tastes identical to that served in a public school cafeteria and the HungryMan chicken parm dinner tastes a hell of a lot better." He responded by apologizing and offering to bring us something else. However, we had already been there over 1.5 hours and weren't trying to sit and wait another hour for the chef to bring us another shit dinner. So I informed him that we were in a bit of a rush and that we'd just like to pay what we owe and leave. Well working in a restaurant, I assumed (but did not request) the chef would come out and make an apology and maybe offer us a free desert or something to make nice. Instead, we were greeted with our waiter and a bill for the full price of a meal that we consumed only a 1/3 of. Maybe we were just there on a crowded Saturday night. Maybe this isn't how they always are with the hot & loud restaurant, shit food and slow service. But I sure as hell wouldn't bet on it. You could not pay me to eat at Fussaro's again. read more

Then had a prosciutto, spinach and fontina stuffed veal with polenta that was so good, and this is coming from somebody who isn't necessarily the biggest fan of polenta. We had a very nice meal there last night. We were tired, hungry and in the mood for some Italian comfort food and Fusaro's delivered. We split an eggplant and tomato app. Our main courses were linguini with clam sauce and the Bolognese adding a couple of meatballs on top. Food was great. Nice portions and cooked perfectly. Our server Christina was exceptional. Cheerful, attentive and helped us with the menu. We got there early (6ish). Went to Fusaro's for dinner with our family and friends. There were 10 of us. We called ahead to give them notice of our large party. When we arrived, we were greated by the owner at the front desk. She scolded me loudly in front of a roomful of waiting patrons announcing that we were late and she had been waiting for us. Then she rudely asked if everyone in our party was there. She said this in a very angry and rude voice. I might have expected such behavior from a novice hostess but not from a restaurant owner. We had visited the restaurant many times before and had brought multiple guests with us. They proceeded to make us wait almost an hour for our salads. We were fairly certain we were being punished. By the way, we were only a few minutes late. Food was not worth waiting for, and we will not be returning. Certainly would not call this "family friendly." read more

My 2 trips warrant 2 stars but everyone else I have been with has enjoyed, so will bump up to 3. Trip 1: seafood stew was satisfactory if not special until I bit into a foul clam. Gagged and almost got sick. Left a terrible taste in my mouth for the rest of the night. When the owner came by and asked how the meal was I was honest and told him ok until a bad clam ruined the dish (which coincidentally he recommended). I would have expected some sort of comp- of my entree or a round of drinks or something- but got only an apology. He seemed pretty indifferent about it. Trip 2: pork tenderloin entree. Butternut squash was terrific. Potatoes were underseasoned and undercooked. Pork was extremely dry. The flavors were there if the meat had been cooked properly, but it wasn't. My family enjoys it, so I'll go back if others choose. But I won't be choosing this place over the myriad better options on the island. read more

We called Pi Pizzeria to get takeout. They said it would take 2 hours. Plan B, we called Fusaro's and they said 25 min, so we went with that. The parking lot was overflowing, line out the door. Food took a little longer than 25 min but it was great. The large cheese pie had a thin crispy crust, tasty tomato sauce and the buffalo wings were delicious, not too spicy. They seated many couples who arrived well after us rather than putting 2 tables together for our party of 3, which was weird. Sangria while waiting was the worst I've ever had , bar service was brusque and harried. Food was below average and nothing special. They do not take reservations. I called from less than a block away to see if they could take my party right away. They said yes, if we came now they could seat us. Less than 2 minutes later we arrive and are told that they did not have a table for us. They said 2 tables arrived sin e I called. I did not believe that for a second. We had literally called and were there Inez's than 2 minutes. Clearly they were packed and had no intention of seating us. I guess they thought if they told us to come we'd just wait 30 minutes.
