Came here for the first time to pick up Brown Hound Pet treats as they are one of the only spots in town that sells them. We did not realize that they had a large retail store in addition to their grooming services and were pleasantly surprised by the large variety of toys, treats, accessories, etc that they had in store. We will definitely plan to return the next time we are in the area with our pups, as even though our one pup is a little energetic the staff took it in stride and he loved all of their attention. read more

I have been bringing my 7 month old puppy to Spaw for day care at least one day per week, since he was about 3 months old. I have always had positive experiences with the staff - they are friendly (to both dogs and people!) - and always provide feedback on how he played with the other dogs throughout the day. Best of all, my puppy is all tired out and ready to snuggle by the end of the day because he had so much fun! I would definitely recommend Spaw! read more

My pup got his first groom here. I was nervous of course.. probably more than he was. My dog is a 3 lb chihuahua so I was concerned about him being with the other dogs and in such a new environment. The staff were very understanding. Andrea did a great job and he came hopping around the corner looking so handsome. They also have almost everything you could need in a pet store! Love that you can come pick your dog up when you're ready and don't get charged for being late. We will be back! read more

My dog has been groomed at Spaw a few times now, and every time we leave, she struts out the doors because she knows she looks good! The staff at the new retail store are always really nice and helpful, you can tell they really love dogs. My little furry gal is very finnicky, and they were able to help me find a treat that she loves- she actually waits for one every time we come in from a walk! She can be a difficult little lady to groom, I've never been able to do much more than brush her, but the groomers at Spaw have never voiced a complaint. When I called to book her fist groom, I was disappointed that they day I originally wanted was booked up, but I was offered a Sunday appointment instead, which actually worked better with my schedule (it's so hard to find a weekend groomer!). When I brought her in, I was able to meet with the groomer and go over exactly the cut I was looking for. Initially, the cut I had asked for was better suited for a different type of dog (I brought in a picture I found online), but the groomer explained to me a better-suited 'hairstyle', and the end result was fantastic. The couple grooms I've had since then have been with a different groomer (I think her name is Megan?), but the cut has been consistently bang-on. read more

I have been going to SPAW for years and I will not be spending my money at this business any longer. They have poor customer service, a lack of empathy for other people and the groomers are average. Eve the owner and her staff are not there for your animal's well-being. They are there for your pay cheque and customer service is inadequate. Especially a customer that has been going for the grooming and pet products line for years. They quickly groom your dog with small attention to detail are insanely expensive and work like an assembly line. At almost 115$ a groom with a tip I think I'd rather spend my money where I see appreciation for customer loyalty. read more

We have been taking our Maltese Poodle mix here for 2 years now. It is expensive, but they take care of everything and always do a good job. Doggie daycare is included so if I'm out running errands and need to pick him up a couple of hours after he's done it's not a problem. He is always happy to go there which is very comforting to me because he has separation anxiety so if he's happy to be there then I'm happy! Obviously he is treated well and we always like the cut. read more

I have been taking my pups to Spaw since Eve opened her business as the daycare downstairs and grooming upstairs, I will never go anywhere else. It's been about ten years and I can't say enough good things about the daycare (where my two go everyday), the grooming (where they are regularly beautified) and the boutique (where their gear is kept up to date) - honestly it's one stop piece of mind for a busy pup parent like me. When my older guy passed away almost two years ago, their kindness was huge and Hannah at daycare helped me navigate the process of adopting my new fur baby with love and support. Rosie and Rufus will never go anywhere else and I trust them implicitly. When the dogs are excited to get inside everyday, you know it's home. read more

I've been taking my French Bulldogs Tank and Pepper to Spaw for a few years now. They love daycare and I trust leaving them there for the day they will be safe and have fun. All the staff are so friendly. I also take my dogs here for nail clippings; my boy Tank really hates getting his nails clipped and they are wonderful and patient with him. I highly recommend this place if you need somewhere for daycare and grooming for your dogs. read more

I took my Pomeranian, Sasqutach to Spaw for grooming after having a bad experience at two different top end Toronto grooming shops. A Pomeranian has a special double layer of hair that shouldn't be cut too short. The groomer at Spaw understood this (apparently she has Poms herself) and did a great job. Sasquatch came back fluffly and happy. read more

Gave this place another shot once my dogs hair had grown back and the groomer took the time to sit down with me before she cut my dogs hair and then I went stood with her as she cut his ears and then she did his tail. I did have to modify his tail a little once we got home but overall it was a big improvement from my first experience here. I appreciated the extra time that was taken to ensure that my dogs ears were the right style I was requesting. read more

I have been using this place for years. I have tried other places as I no longer live in the area, but it's the best and worth the trip. The groomers always take the time to chat with you beforehand about what you need, and if you can't rush back to get them right after the groom, your dog can stay upstairs until you come back. One of my dogs was dealing with a form of skin cancer. He still needed to be groomed but had special needs. The owner met with us and personally went over everything. I really appreciate the time they spend and their friendly, laid professional attitude. read more

When I booked my 4 & 1/2 month old puppy to come in to be groomed I was told it would be no problem to pick him up at the end of the day as it was included in the service. I booked my day accordingly only to to cancel everything because they called 7 hours before closing and told me to come and get him. What a shuck and jive! When I took a taxi from the other end of the city to get him there was no apology and no discount for not providing what they had promised. I brought a chew that always keeps my dog well occupied and it was dry when they gave it back to me so they had not given it to him. I will never go back! What a rip off. Also, they cut his fur around the face when I told them not to. Lazy, greedy, poorly run business . These people have no business being in the doggie business. read more

Took our giant 18 lb cat Rory there twice in the last 2 years. He's a maincoon (possibly mixed with ragdoll because his fur feels like rabbit hair). He's fur gets matted easily and he ends up having sanitary issues, even though we comb him often. Anyway the big guy is very emotional, gentle cat and Spaw Boutique is the right place for him. He gets a lion shave each year and when he comes out, he seems no different in attitude. Infact last time he walked around the store being curious and sniffing around. He smells wonderful each time after the grooming. The service is pricy ($100-125$ + tip) but it may be worth it for the peace of mind. I am going to look around for cheaper places though. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars. read more

My dog Sophie got a groom here today and the results are amazing. Most groomers that Sophie has been to leave her looking like a rat but not Spaw. The staff is also super friendly and efficient. I'm very satisfied and Sophie and I will 100% be returning! :) read more

My pup had been going here for about 6 months. He is anxious and displays as overly excited with people when you first greet him. He was also learning his boundaries with dogs as he was less than a year old and would try and play all day even if the other dogs were over it. Spaw told me they put him in a separate room by himself as he was too excited to interact with others and that it was becoming hard for the staff. Of course my husband and I took this critique to heart and asked what we could do better to make it a good environment for all. Ultimately we left Spaw and found a new neighbourhood spot as well as a 2nd spot across town. To date, from the new places we have not heard any of the type of feedback we did from Spaw even though we've asked directly about how our pup behaves as we were conscious of it. I'm still not sure if Spaw did anything wrong, but clearly it wasn't a good fit for us and communication about the matter wasn't super thorough. Maybe they don't have the patience or set up that is right for all dogs. Plus something I can live with but I found annoying is that they tried to upsell a grooming appointments when we picked him up, even when he was brushed out, fluffy and bathed. I brought my dog here for the first time this week. Both the groomer and the receptionist were very friendly. I picked up my dog 3hrs later and he looked and smelled great with no signs of being stressed out. Its a little expensive but worth it. read more

I take my mini-poodle here 3-4 times a year since I live close by. They are always friendly and do a great job. Sometimes they miss hairs here and there but overall they are great and I would recommend them. I appreciate being able to drop him off before work and pick him up after, too. read more

Very satisfied with the Spaw experience. Took my very wiggly 5-month-old cockapoo here and she looked great after. She has wavy hair and always looks like a ragamuffin, but she emerged so beautiful and happy after spending the afternoon here. The cut was thorough and detail-oriented; collar was washed. The staff was very personable and professional--they clipped her exactly how I requested. They keep your info on file (stylist, last cut description, misc. dog notes), so you don't have to remember your preferences next time you're in. It's a bit on the pricier side, but was worth it after paying a bit less somewhere else (Timmy's) and not being that impressed with an uneven cut. I like that they keep the dogs a bit longer--good babysitting! read more

Very kind and patient staff with my scaredy cat English bulldog mix, Marley. This is the only place in the city we trust for a quick and perfect nail clip every time. Also a cute shop with adorable accessories and a good selection of sweaters, food and treats. read more

I have tried a lot of groomers in Toronto for my Ganaraskan Chloë and Spaw is certainly the best. They always cut my little muffin exactly as I ask, and she has a lot of fun hanging out with the other doggies when she is done. Best of all, Spaw doesn't take the whole day for grooming, which is, I find, the norm elsewhere. read more

Awful customer service. It's their way or the highway when it comes to the type of style you'd like on your dog. Very rude. The groomer was careless and didn't read the instructions so I had quite the surprise when I picked up my dog. It's a convenient location but I'd go anywhere but Spaw Boutique. read more

Terrible experience. Although my dog often took far longer than I was told, and the cut was often not what I asked for, I continued to be a loyal customer and took my poodle here every 4-6 weeks. The price was the same every time, until one day my husband dropped her off and confirmed the price. I was shocked when I went to pick her up and they told me it would be $15 more than usual and more than my husband was told. When I asked what changed they said I had always been undercharged and this was the new price. When I explained it didn't seem fair to increase the rate when I picked her up from what I was told when I dropped her off earlier in the day the staff was incredibly rude and only eventually conceded to let me pay the price I had been told. I will not go back and suggest everyone avoid this groomer. When I dropped in at another groomer (Timmie's on Queen) I was quoted a price $40 cheaper than I had been paying at Spaw for over a year so I suggest trying there! read more
