It's not funny. When I finished the course and wanted to take the quiz that it said was mandatory, it replied: "You cannot take the exam at this time. Please take your break and return after 60 minutes." I waited 7 hours and returned to take the quiz, and it replied the same message. Avoid this online course at all cost. read more

She is incredible the class goes really fast and she shares some very valid and informative information regarding being pulled over, insurance information and she is really really funny!! This place is run by idiots. First of all DO NOT get your driving record through them. Huge rip-off! Second, Funnybone will charge you an extra $20 if you want your certificate immediately after class....you must wait 3 weeks to get it. Once you get your certificate and show up at the police department to clear things up for closure.....Funnybone has NOT filed the paperwork on their end. I'm taking the online course to excuse a speeding ticket. I expected it to be funnier and more entertaining, with demonstrative skits by a comedy troupe. It's just a very animated woman, Megan, in front of a green screen who matter-of-factly speaks about safe driving procedures and presents a few dated (besides one about texting) short films from different sources. The course is very informative and makes me rethink some of my driving habits. I just thought it was going to be more fun and engaging to watch. It took me 3 days to take the course, but that's just because I didn't have a lot of time to do it until the weekend. I got through chapters 3-9 in a few hours on a Saturday, so can definitely get it done in a day if you have about 6-8 hours free. After watching all the videos, you have to make over 70% correct answers on an untimed 20 question comprehensive quiz to pass the course. You can log out and in during the quiz. You have 3 chances to pass the quiz. If you fail after 3 chances, you have to reorder and retake the entire course. The quiz questions are pretty common sense questions, but you have time to research it if you can't remember or don't know. Make sure to read everything carefully, including the answers. I answered too quick on one and got it wrong because answer D was "Both answer A and B." The course is very thorough and informative, but it's also boring at times and I find myself zoning out and then getting surprised and flustered when a question comes up. I fell asleep during a 20 minute video 2 times and had to rewatch. If your computer shuts off for some reason you have to rewatch the entire video over. I don't like how some videos are split in two, but I guess that helps with the having to rewatch the entire video problem. There's 9 chapters with varied subtopics. In every chapter there's a timed surprise question to validate your identity. It's handy to have your insurance info, vin number, license, and registration info nearby for when these questions come up. If you miss 4 answers you're locked out. After every film there's an easy untimed question about what it was about. As far as the humor, it's pretty tame and at times annoying because I'm totally aware of how flat the jokes are and how they're eating up time when we could just be getting on with the program. Instead of incorporating humor into the lectures, the instructor goes off on unrelated trying-too-hard tangents and then some uptight angry man off screen yells at her. It's not my taste of humor. Maybe others find it funny, but I think they could have thought up a more effective and funny way to present the course. The one thing I did find funny was her pronunciation of "rural." I do think she's a good speaker, though. I'd probably appreciate her approach a lot more if I didn't come in to this expecting the course to be funny. I will admit I am a snob when it comes to what makes me laugh. (My ideal hosts for this course would have been equivalent to the Kids in the Hall, or the cast from The IT Crowd.) Despite the lack of funny jokes, the course got the job done for just $25 (minimum amount by Texas law to be accepted for a driver safety course) so I guess that's the most I can ask for. read more

AWFUL TECHNICAL PROBLEMS! So, Texas law requires that you watch 6 hours worth of videos. There are a series of videos that you watch/click thru etc. Close to four of the videos froze up and I had to refresh/log back in, which meant I had to RESTART these videos. One of them was a 21-minute video that froze three times, when it had 3 or 4 minutes left. This did it on 2 different browsers. It finally went through on Safari, although the pic skipped, then another video did the same thing. I did not have any other connectivity issues with any other sites etc, so I know it was not my connection. Extremely frustrating. Took and additional TWO HOURS to complete because of this. I ordered this because i needed it so this speeding ticket the name and ,funny bone, and the convince of doing my hours at my own pace.. there was nothing funny about it.. it actually got on my nerves listening to hours of the same high pitch voice. I thought the man at the beginning was the comedian who would give the class. False advertising is the thought of the day. Abort!!! I recently received my first speeding ticket in about 10 years. I chose this site to do so. The lady is rather boring and the comedy (questionable to label it as comedy) is cheesy at best. What really bothers me is that I've had to re-watch the same videos repeatedly because the site logs me out at random times. I'm sitting here watching and it, not starting and leaving it. It's defensive driving - might as well be somewhat enjoyable. The food was actually pretty good and there was a really good selection. I had the chicken sandwich with bacon (and they have Pepsi, which is a plus in my book!). You can drink soda all day for $2. Collin was pretty funny. I enjoyed (as much as one can enjoy spending a Saturday in defensive driving) Collin. If you have to go, might as well laugh it up a bit. Take this one. read more

I arrived at 8:50am for the Saturday class at Casa Chapla. This same day about 11 other people showed up and when the restaurant opened at 9:00 we were told where to sit at. We waited, and waited, and waited. I sent an e-mail, called several times, asked the restaurant manager if she had a phone number for anyone and she didn't. The instructor never showed up! I ended up leaving around 9:40am along with everyone else. Nobody from the company ever contacted me to apologize or offer another class. Thanks, Funny Bones for wasting my morning. read more

I am usually fairly sympathetic to poor service and unprofessionalism, but this was a huge inconvenience; so much so, that I feel the need to take the time to write a review. Apparently, Funny Bone Defensive Driving has undergone quite a few changes and failed to update their website to reflect changes in their class days, times and locations. In fact, not only were the changes not reflected, but their website allowed me to sign up for a class that's no longer offered. I received a confirmation email confirming it all - days, time, location. When I went to the address that was listed on the website, there was a handwritten sign posted on their door that the location had changed. I found the "new" restaurant location and when I went in, the restaurant staff there had no clue what I was talking about when asked about a defensive driving class. I am completely baffled as to how I was able to sign up for a class and receive an email confirmation for a class that they no longer offer at a incorrect location. In addition to that, the day I signed up, I called and spoke with someone to ask a question - I specified that I had just registered for the Monday/Tuesday class. She answered my question, and not once did she mention that they no longer offer a Monday/Tuesday class. My impression of this company is definitely one of unprofessionalism and disorganization. I really hope they get it all straightened out, but I will not be utilizing their services. If you decide to rely on them for your defensive driving, I recommend calling to confirm the day and time, do not trust their website or confirmation email. read more

Horrible. Watching 6 hours worth of videos took ten hours because of the site's substandard computer servers. Like other reviewers said, the videos freeze up so you have to refresh & log back in, which means having to RESTART the videos. It does this on several different browsers. I have No other internet issues except with this site and its slooooooowwww servers. The course took several hours longer than it should. Use another site / school. read more

It is everything you would expect. Lots of statistics, some very dated films and a bit of campy comedy thrown in but it is what you have to do. Honestly, a few of the segments were good reminders so I didn't hate it. I had no computer issues (worked on MacBook laptop) and requested overnighted certificate and received it perfectly. The class was borderline horrible. Its 6 hrs and I didn't expect it to be pleasent. I ordered my overnight shipment and it didnt arrive in 4 days. I called LSO and they said they didnt know where it was and to contact FunnyBone. FunnyBone resent it with the advertised overnight. It did not arrive. I called LSO and they said it was shipped 2 day and not overnight. I demanded a refund of my overnight shipping and received an email showing the transaction. It had now been over 2 days and I still have not received the shipment of my certificate. I'm honestly starting to think this place is a scam. They communicate through text and would not return my call. I've done defensive driving once before with another company and never had these issues. My next complaint will be with the state and I'll have to take the course somewhere else to receive my certificate. Steer clear of this place! read more

I took this course to dismiss a ticket I got from being in an accident (by myself, which was stupid to begin with). I took the online course and it was EXTREMELY outdated. By outdated, I mean I was watching videos that were released before I was born. They also "update you on new laws" and these "updates" were outdated as well. You are also periodically asked questions after videos and I was told my questions were answered incorrect multiple times (which made you watch the video again and answer a new question). It was when I was watching the video (again) that I realized my original answers were CORRECT! I also have been logged out randomly multiple times. There are a ton of site glitches. If I would have read these reviews before giving them my money, I would never have signed up for this course. read more

I am reviewing the online driving course. I recently took it to excuse a traffic ticket. It was my first time doing an online class, and I thought it was easy and even kind of silly at times (funny). I actually liked a couple of the videos and learned something new - I thought the video about texting and driving would be very helpful for teens so I hope it helps other drivers. Got through it with a couple of weekends and then ordered the expedited certificate! Easy peazy! read more

Paid for overnight shipping, here I am 3 days later, I still don't have my paper work and I'm supposed to be turning it into the court today. I signed up for a Saturday class, there were 10 or 11 of us but after a half hour of waiting people started to leave because instructor never showed up. 3 of us waited for an hour and then we left. I was very disappointed that we didn't even get a phone call to let us know instructor was unable to make. I feel like they had no respect for our time and I will be going elsewhere to take class. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE! Not only was the online portion boring seemingly dragging on forever and the comedy made you want to cringe into your couch cushions, but their overnight shipping information is completely false! They do NOT send via Fedex, as they site says, but they send their overnight shipments using a company I've never heard of before called "Lone Star Overnight". They apparently delivered the letter to my front door, even though neither me or my boyfriend heard not even a knock or the doorbell while we were at home all day. While I can easily call Fedex now, I can't talk to his other company until Tuesday due to the Memorial Day coming up. I have to turn this in by Wednesday! WTF??? Don't even bother calling up their customer service line. They don't answer 95% of the time, and when they do, they don't even help with answering ANY of their questions. They didn't even say over the phone which shipping company I was supposed to call! The just expected me to know, which is why I called Fedex at first. I highly advise not taking this course. There are many others that are more worth your time and money than this. read more
