Healthtrax is an excellent gym with varied classes, a sauna, steam room, whirlpool, new fitness…read moreequipment and water massage chairs. The staff are what makes this gym different. The instructors include modifications for higher or lower intensity and are helpful with personal questions. I always feel like I have had a workout that not only was excellent for aerobics, muscle strength and or stretching but maintains and improves mobility for daily activities that I never think about. Love the social aspect too!

At first glance, I thought Healthtrax would be a good place for me so, as a senior, I joined…read more Overall, the gym facility is nice. However, my experience was with personal training. I was assigned to a trainer and I was very clear of my limitations due to a knee replacement. The personal training and its exercises, exacerbated my condition and I begin go experience lots of knee pain. My physician indicated I should pause the training. I spoke with the trainer, and emailed Linda, the facility manager requesting, either another trainer more suited to my needs, or a refund. The trainer got back to me and said there was nothing they could do. When I canceled my membership, Linda, eventually got back to me months later, said she would look into and call my back. Again, I heard nothing from her. Instead, she delegated to someone else who did not resolve my issue. It was more important for them to hold onto a mere $53, rather than try a retain a customer. Customer service is just as important and the product so I would not recommend this gym or its personal training.

I recently began swimming laps for the first time in years. This location has an 8-lane indoor pool…read morethat is open year-round. It has all the equipment you might want or need such as aquatic dumbbells and kickboards (a favorite when my shoulders are sore from weightlifting). Each locker room has both a sauna and steam room. Further still, there is a coffee and tea station right outside the locker rooms. They offer large towels for swimming and showering which is very convenient. Swimming, sauna/steam room, hot shower, cozy & dry clothes, and a hot cup of coffee on the way out is the best combo ever. I don't have experience with their other gym equipment currently but with a membership, you get access to 19 YMCA locations. The only thing I have noticed here that I haven't noticed at other locations in the Triangle is even in the middle of the day on weekdays, it can be quite packed and people tend to seem a lot more impatient about getting where they're going than I'm used to.

4 stars feels right. I've been to 3 YMCAs in my life thus far and this one has what you need!…read more Older Adult Programming classes (THRIVE), Summer Camps, Water Aerobics, Group Fitness and more. Couple unique features: - Bottom floor walking track that goes around the gym - Flavia Station (free coffee/tea) Problem areas: - Incline bench needs to be replaced (it's angled oddly and one of the worst I've used) - The pulley machine near the punching bag has some issues with the pulley catching - No decline bench here This YMCA feels fairly old but I'm a fan of how every YMCA is uniquely built. There's ample parking but peak times will have you walking.
