After no further word on shipment, I followed up today by phone. James told me the part would not be available for 10 more months. That's a breach of contract. They committed to performing, took my money and didn't perform. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was transferred to Jose in Parts who actually laughed at me when I asked to speak with a manager. This is beyond bad customer service or bad business. We placed an order online with this company. I guess because we created a business account online we received a courtesy email from their National Sales Representative, Josh Youngblood. It was a super nice email, stating "I thought I'd offer myself up as a direct contact for whatever you may need relating to what we carry. I would be more than happy to make sure to help you get what you need, when you need it, at the best possible price." Super cool, right? A direct line to someone alleging to want to help. Anywho, it turns out that they were going to ship via UPS, which means we are not receiving our package...period. So, I reply and say, "If you ship UPS, we will not receive our package." Well, the super courteous email we received from Josh was just plain lip service. If you want your package, now you will have to pay to get it to you and make your own arrangements. No Josh, we don't. If you can't be bothered to use another carrier so we can get what we paid for, we don't need to do anything with your company. Don't offer unsolicited help to your customers unless you mean it, Josh. All of our other suppliers, including Amazon, have gladly complied with a simple request. I rarely post a review, unless service is exceedingly good, or exceedingly bad. I wish I had read the reviews before dealing with this company. Luckily, I did not order anything, and will not. I can't tell you how bad my experience was - it would take too much time. At one point I think I did hear the music from Twilight Zone. I will try to hit some highlights. Again, the only reason I am writing anything at all now is in hopes it will save someone else the time and hassle of dealing with this company. I spoke with two salespeople. They both acted like I was an idiot - thinly veiled condescension. They should take basic sales classes again - if they ever did. They need reminded that the customer doesn't know what the customer doesn't know (true of everyone), and it's their job to help the customer try and figure out how to meet their need, which I endlessly explained. I talked with the first salesperson for 45 minutes, and nearly every question I asked I could barely get a straight answer. I never really did end the conversation feeling like I got the information I needed. The second saleperson kept asking how he could help me, as I was asking did he want the confirmation number or something like that, seeing how I had the quote right in front of me. Went round and round with that. Then he just transferred me to the guy I asked for in the first place. So much for helping me. I was actually hoping this new guy would be a better experience than the first guy. Yeah, no. Must run in the company. On the whole: rude, unprofessional, lacking in basic customer skills. Lost over $3k in business from me, as I was shopping for my school. As I said, I wish I had read the reviews first. I guess I'm naive - I wouldn't have thought there were companies this bad. I did chat with an employee online and he seemed to be very surprised that there was a difference and he would pass it along to the web crew. I then told him i had screen shots of the ad and cart price he then offered his email to forward them to him. I did forward the screen shots and he ended the chat with no offer or solution. However i checked on other posted items from their site and i wasn't surprised to find this wasn't the only item from their site posted with lower item price than their competitors and low shipping rates, However they more than double their advertised shipping rates at the final checkout. I ordered from Full Compass Systems in mid-May 2020, and the item was still back-ordered a month later. The issue is that Full Compass charged my card when I ordered, not when they shipped. Every other merchant out there charges when the item ships, not when ordered. It's not Full Compass Systems fault that I ordered a back-ordered item and I would have been willing to wait. However, because they charged my credit card when I ordered I would eventually lose my credit card chargeback protections and then I'd have no easy recourse in the event that Full Compass never shipped or the item arrived broken. Full Compass was responsive to my inquiry, but in the end they said they have to charge when the order is placed. For that reason alone I would suggest not purchasing from Full Compass unless they ship within a reasonable time after you place the order. Full Compass: It's not cool to take interest-free loans from your customers. You need to change your process so that you only charge customers once, or right before, you ship the item ordered. read more

Recent inquiries have left me wondering if those employees all left and they rehired new, inexperienced, less compensated people. Now, it's too often a lackadaisical response out of the sales staff and prices no better (sometimes worse) than anywhere else. I a little surprised seeing some of the negative ratings. I've used them 3 times and it's been stellar every time. Particularly my last order where I had placed an order on a holiday weekend. I forgot to add an item and sent an email asking to add the small item to the order. I got an email beck on the Monday saying it has been added and the order arrived in perfect shape. Im still waiting on an order I was told was shipped last week yet the tracking number given says its awaiting shipment. Customer service blaming USPS. Eventually, all 8 mics were sold at the sale price. But the next business day, I received notice that the mic was no longer available and out of stock. I checked the Full Compass System website and the exact microphone was still listed in stock for their regular, higher, price. I don't know what's happened to this place. Seems like as their facilities have grown their service shrunk and there are a lot of negative reviews. I've shopped them since they were pretty much a "ma-and-pa" (literally) one-room operation on East Washington Avenue. Great place for AV parts, etc. They grew and opened an awesome place on the west side. Now they have an industrial-park type building in an out-of-the-way place that's being developed. Went in there and it looked more like a Guitar Center. Waited a bit to get waited on. They have a lot of inventory that's not on display and frankly many people might not know they have. If you need it and they have it and you can walk out with it I would have no problem doing business here but, wow, it would be nice if they would return to their roots. read more

I have been a satisfied customer since 1981, but have noticed a HUGE absence of customer service since about 2014. I have switched reps more times than I can count. They either quite or on constant vacation, so it makes consistency difficult. The owner used to be approachable and VERY helpful, but not since they moved to the new facility. I used to never shop around for tech gear, I just automatically ordered from FULL Compass. Not any more. It's a competitive marketplace these days and what made the difference was the customer service. That's practically non-existent now. I've been in twice now to pick up components for my stereo system and both visits have been very pleasant. First time in I was immediately directed to the cables I needed and the interaction quickly escalated to a friendly chat session with the employee that lasted for a half hour. Very cool and knowledgeable guy. The second visit had me pick up an online order. I was in and out with ease. The item ended up being incompatible with my equipment and, when I brought it in, the associate went out of his way to try to figure out why I had the incompatibility, including taking the item into their tech shop to test it and some online research. When we decided the problem was probably somewhere in my equipment he gladly took the item in as a return. My company called ahead to order some gaff tape and we were told it would be ready for us at the pickup counter. We rolled up and the first counter of guys didn't have any idea what we were talking about, but pointed us towards another counter. When we got in there, the guy at the counter also seemed confused and spent a good 10 minutes trying to find our order (nothing had been pulled). Once he found it, he told us to grab the tape ourselves off the shelf and bring it up from to purchase. It's unfortunate that this is the only place to get gaff tape in the city because their customer service is not great. read more

This used to be a much better place. I've been a customer since it was literally located in one room on the east side of Madison. This week I needed a special cable that was in stock (a lot of stuff on their site isn't in stock but a lot is as well) and they say that if you order by 2:30 p.m. it will ship the same day. That's been my experience with them but not this time. Instead of arriving today it has yet to be shipped and you can't use what you don't have. Because of the failure to be a reliable source I cannot recommend as highly as I have in the past. They also have limited hours, including no Saturdays. Do they think we have no needs on the weekends? Full Compass is only as good as the service it provides and instead of improving as it has grown it has gotten worse. I've bought two acoustic guitars from this store this year. One of them had a burr on the tuning machine which kept busting the string. I brought it in, and they fixed it for free within 24 hours. The employees have always been super-friendly, and not in a creepy, I-smell-commission-in-the-water way, either. The store's atmosphere is unique and fascinating; I couldn't begin to describe it. Contacted via chat before placing the order to be certain product and registration key would be available, as advertised (downloadable), and was assured of hour turnaround, 12 hours tops. That was four and half days ago. Full Compass says they're waiting for download key, the manufacturer says Full Compass won't return their call and has no order from them. EXtremely disappointed. We consider ourselves an "essential service" and didn't receive the service we were led to believe we'd get. read more
