If you're in the Salinas area, this is a great spot for teppanyaki! I was in town for a work trip, and this place is conveniently located near the hotel I usually stay at. We both went with the teppanyaki dinner, and it did not disappoint. The meat was cooked perfectly, and the chef added a fun touch with his humor throughout the meal. Beer is nice and cold! One thing to note--the lighting in the restaurant is extremely bright. It's almost blinding. They could definitely benefit from dimming the lights a bit to create a cozier, more relaxed ambiance. That said, the portions were generous, and we left feeling more than satisfied. I'd definitely recommend this place--especially in Salinas, where dining options are somewhat limited. Cheers!

A mouse was eating scraps on the floor AFTER I ate. They didn't even offer a discount at all. I literally feel like vomitting. Please try cleaning the restaurant!!! This is not okay.

If you looking for a good place for sushi or a place to celebrate with your families, I highly recommend Fujiyama. I've been there ones a week for years now and still looking forward for my weekly dinner at Fujiyama.

I really enjoy coming to Fujiyama for several reasons, so I will try to sum it up in this review. Fujiyama is a great place for a nice family outing in Salinas. There is plenty of parking in this lot and you have the option to sit in the hibachi or sushi section. The chefs will be sure to make you laugh with their amazing tricks like a steaming onion train and impressive broccoli tosses ( I caught mine). The portions are huge and you'll definitely have to take some leftovers home. They have really neat deals that I'm sure your pocket will love as well. I would really recommend this place if you're looking for a nice outing with friends or a casual date.

Came on a Friday evening with a group of 11 to have the teppanyaki experience and celebrate some special occasions. Policy is that the entire party has to be present to be seated, with a 15 min grace period for your reservation time. The restaurant is sectioned off with a wall into a regular dinner and bar area on one side, and then down a narrow corridor, the teppanyaki side. The room we were in had zero decor and all the blinds were closed, so the ambiance was lacking. The soup was a tasty broth with mushroom slices & green onion. I waited & waited for salad that was supposed to come, but cooking started & I just took the miss to continue with the meal progression. The veggies were flavorful--a mix of zucchini, broccoli, onions, & mushrooms. The noodles & rice were lackluster--basically just the taste of soy, butter, & garlic. The fried rice only had a scant amount of eggs as an addition, no other mix-ins. The proteins were awesome, very well cooked & tasty. I tried the streak, filet, shrimp, & scallops. The 2 sauces were also delicious. Others in the party enjoyed some other kitchen & sushi items as well. Chef Paul was great!!! He was fun, funny, lively, personable, and did some different tricks versus the typical shows. He was invested in making sure we enjoyed our food & experience. We had very good customer service. Staff was attentive, helpful, & took photos. Our celebratory guests of honor all got balloon hats & vanilla ice cream with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, & a candle. Birthdays get sung to, and when the ice cream comes out, there's a moment of colored lights that flash to loud club music. Depending on your mood, this can either be received as fun or obnoxious. Overall, a good time and a lot of tasty food to be had.

Fujiyama is one of our favorite places!! They have amazing hibachi where they cook in front of you. Perfect for a celebration or birthday!! We also love their sushi or getting food to go. The sushi is always fresh. They now have an all you can eat sushi menu that has lots of options.

We were in the mood for sushi and decided to try a new spot. This place offers hibachi but we wanted sushi. Our server, Bryan, sat us and took our drink orders. We ordered Sapporo draft beer and he offered "large or small", where we went with large. Shortly after he brought out one large pitcher of beer and one large bottle of Sapporo. Needless to say we were very confused, and I think he was too. We ended up keeping the pitcher and sent the bottle back. We had a lot of questions about the rolls and asked for white tuna with the sashimi dinner. Bryan checked into and answered all our questions. We wern't impressed by the roll options on the menu and were struggling making a decision. We were craving a roll with tempura inside but a mix of fresh fish on top and surprisenly they didnt have much to offer with that combo like most places. We opted for the Crazy Friday, Hulk, and Angel rolls. The soup served with our meal was disgusting! Literally was the worst miso or whatever soup it was we've ever had. It tasted rotten and smelled like old seafood. We asked Bryan to please get it away because it smelled so bad. The rest of the food came out pretty quickly and thankfully tasted fresh. The Angel roll was the best out of the three rolls. The sashimi was fresh where the white tuna I wanted was delicious. We wern't super impressed with the Hulk or Crazy Friday roll. The Crazy Friday had more flavor and was decent, but the Hulk was boring and wouldn't order again. Eventhough we could tell our server was probably newer he was really nice, really tried and gave us good service, which we appreciated. The food was just ok, where I might come back again but wouldn't be excited about it if so.

Overpriced in my opinion. BEWARE!! The tip is added into your bill under service charge!!!

The place could use a good deep cleaning. . The table was greasy and around the hibachi area didn't look too clean either. Made me loose my appetite. I hadn't eaten all day then tried this place. Good diet plan but waste of hard earned money. Fried rice was skimpy on additives ie green onion and egg. Salmon was ok. Wasn't aware teriyaki sauce was smothered on top of it when it was too late. The meal was nothing to call home about. For this price I'll go to the store and cook at home.

Needed something super quick before my next work session! I wasn't feeling anything "fast foodie"…read morerelated and have been wanting to increase my protein intake sooo.. ofc I naturally went for Teriyaki Madness! Did I need or want the extra veggies with the rice? Nahh.. i'm particular in how my veggies are cooked. But, just the teriyaki chicken with rice in a junior bowl was enough to fulfill my lunch slump hunger! I didn't even need the extra sauce it comes with! Ooh! a tip on adding veggies though that I think would be amazing IF they had shredded lettuce as a veggie side since it would soak up that yummy teriyaki sauce! Teriyaki madness, ya feel me on that? Lol not sure if that's already a thing here~ Definitely go here for that quick, eatery vibe! they have some other proteins like salmon, tofu, steak.. yup definitely coming here for that protein fix- and if i'm feeling wild.. maaaybe adding veggies next time hehe.

We got a table for 8 and sat in the outdoor patio, which was covered and had heat lamps for the cooler temp- perfect and spacious enough with our 4 kids in tow. Menu has a good variety, even a separate vegan menu. I got the fish sandwich with Caesar salad (ok- but bread overpowered the fish), mac and cheese (really creamy and cheesy) for my toddler and my hubs got the vegan cashew kale salad with vegan chik'in. We got calamari, which was abalone style and kinda bland. Rest of the table got burgers and fries which overall had good reviews. Service was a bit slow but it was Memorial Day weekend and it was pretty busy.

I don't think I've ever met a $30 omakase. The sushi rice was nicely blended. Strange how there wasn't wasabi instantly included in the nigiri. Fake wasabi provided on the side. Yellow ginger. Nice cuts of fish. Tonkatsu very dry. Completely disliked how the sauce was automatically included on top... I wished it was given on the side. Wished there was a lemon slice provided as well. Miso soup was not good at all. Salad dressing was very appetizing. SERVICE: Simple and straightforward. No trouble given. VIBEZ: Typical modern Japanese decor with the added touch of figures. Casual. I…read morerecently heard they were serving Fish N Chips, and as I am forever on the hunt for the best fare of this persuasion I just had to try the newest offering at Cong N Go. I actually was not that hungry but after discussion of the dish with the owners I just had to sample it right then. I ordered it to go but not even kidding I almost ate all three pieces it was that good. Oh my goodness, hands down some of the very best Fish N Chips I ever ate. Nice plateful with three good size pieces. The batter is flavorful with just the right amount of crunch. The vinegrette sauce with aioli mayo and a mix of spices makes the fishes flavors blend very nicely. Cambodian crunchy slaw is a very tasty pairing. Maybe just a tad on the salty side but otherwise perfect. A good helping of narrow fries as well. Definitely enough food to be shareable if you are able to or even want to. I will be looking forward to returning for the light flavorful Alaskan cod at Cong N Go as long as they continue to serve it. Thanks so much for an excellent and very enjoyable afternoon meal. The food here overall is amazing and all of you looking for a change of pace have to stop by and sample the menu.
