I love Fry's Food Stores. The 3.5 star rating for this spanking new Fry's is undeserving. It's clean, open, the staff are helpful and nice. During lunch time 11-1 it can get pretty crowded in there, like many placea downtown but I think they handle the crowd with ease. I throughly enjoy the salad bar. It would be helpful if the same items were on both sides. There's not really any order to the salad bar. There's lettuce, spinach, mixed greens and kale on both sides of the bar, not both sides have different ingredients so folks sometimes get in each other's way. No big deal to me. Also, as of today I noticed most of the ingredients are now chopped instead of sliced. The cucumbers, onions, eggs, red and green bell peppers are all chopped now. I like that! The wing bar is pretty popular as well and can get pretty busy. I've tried a few and they're a little to slimy for me so I'll stick with the awesome salad bar. Great spot for getting a few items for my hotel room while attending a convention. Very easy walk from the Hyatt! Lots of good foods, salad bar, lots of liquor. I only needed some reasonable water, a few fruits and yogurt for breakfast. Also has a Starbucks and many Organics. Go here if you are in the downtown! My taxi driver told me about it or I never would have known about this place and would have spent much more money for very simple supplies for my hotel room. read more

I came early for my jury duty today and I need to use the restroom. NO BODY KNOWS THE CODE FOR THE bathroom. The cashier said ask the customer service and the service customer said ask the guards. Parking entrance is bright. 2 hour free parking with purchases. Take one of three elevators to the lower level which is where the store is. Store is big, clean and so much products to choose from. Cheese, wine and alcohol sections are huge. There is a chomped, chickens and other restaurant "take out"in the store which is cool. Starbucks and places to sit. It's a beautiful store and I'm really glad it's a Fry's. Fun is the end caps are scrolling digital end caps with sale items. Absolutely top quality store! Strolled through during the grand opening and the place was abuzz. The entire downtown community will be so much better off with this store. For something as simple as a grocery store, there was an incredible degree of excitement for the opening. The store has many unique offerings that I haven't seen in other Fry's, even their Signature store on Shea. The Chompies inside looked mystical and alluring. The wine bar will have to be examined further after work on Friday. The salad bar perhaps was offering a promotional price at $4.99/lb... what a great price. The grab and go food looked great and will be a great go-to. I even saw a $4.47/lb ribeye (promotional price?) that makes me wish I had a BBQ grill at the office. Fantastic addition to downtown Phoenix! And a parking garage! (Validate at register) The unique glass elevators will take you from the garage to the entrance and lead you to the checkout area and on around to Starbucks, Chompies, Murrays and a Wine Bar. There is also a Pharmacy. Also, if you want to order online and have your groceries brought out to your car there is a pick up area just for you! It has a large area with tables and chairs so if you're in awe that this store is really here you can sit down and take it all in or just be normal and enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner. I didn't wander through the whole store, as I had one major goal: their cheese counter! It wasn't as large, I think, as some of the other Murray's counters at other local Fry's, but the selection was still fantastic. I loved that they had full baskets of little pieces of cheese for under $5, plus several other kinds that were on clearance. I am so glad this Fry's is in downtown. I stopped by this location today for the first time to get my Covid shot. I had a 12:15 appt and showed up earlier than expected and was let in without having to wait. There was an Indian pharmacist on duty who administered the shot. He was skilled as the needle only felt like a prick. There was only one customer waiting right after me, and he took a picture of my getting the shot. Overall a satisfactory experience. Afterwards before leaving, I walked around this new-ish location and definitely got the downtown feel. Since I don't live exactly in the area, I won't be a regular (I was actually only there because it's the closest location to my home to get the shot) but may stop by in the future, if I'm in the area for whatever reason and me need to stock up a few items on the way home :) read more

The downtown Fry's is kinda awesome..... It usually isn't busy, they have lots of items on clearance (fancy cheese, yes please), and parking is validated. I have gotten their curbside pick up many times and have had mostly positive experiences with that (except for almost always having some kind of banana mix up lol). This isn't the largest location, so they may not have everything you need, but they have most items and are the only choice for downtown groceries. read more

This is a pretty exciting Fry's . A lot of good experiences here. For the last 30 years I never remember a grocery store in downtown Phoenix. There's been a few little groceries. You try to support them but ,many times they had outdated food, little to no parking, and overpriced items. However, this Fry's ticks every box. If you have never visited before you'll probably need to map it out a little bit. Due to the one-way streets in downtown Phoenix in the entrance to the parking garage it could be tricky. But, once you get inside it's all good there is covered parking in a parking garage. They will stamp your parking ticket, so it is a complementary parking experience for shopping . There are ample spaces for many cars. Also accommodates trucks and large Vans so you don't have to worry about that , as you do in many parking garages . The Garage is brightly lit ,with inside access to the grocery store. They do have security inside the grocery store which is also very nice. The store itself is incredibly clean and well-maintained. It's a huge store ,with lots to choose from. Including fresh food ready to eat, hot food ready to eat ,and a full grocery store with lots of produce and baked goods. If you live downtown Phoenix, it's the best thing that's happened down there in a long time. A great shopping experience. read more

I was going to leave a great review because this place has everything! Including a wonderful selection of alcohol, prepared foods, and snacks at a reasonable price. Patrons are 50/50 masks and no masks here, and my hang up was that I was stopped by security after checking out for the bottle of glenlivet I paid in full for (and the security tag was disabled) and searched against my receipt after leaving the cashiers. We were wandering around downtown Phoenix today and saw this Frys. I wanted to peek inside to see what it was like, thinking it might be a small city grocery. Walking inside was magical! It's huge with everything you would ever want in a grocery, plus more! I imagine that this store is a very welcome place to people who live downtown. There is parking available above the store. There's a nice wine bar, Chompie's Deli, and sushi bar if you want to stay and enjoy. read more

The worst experience parking in my entire adult life, went in to do my shopping as I usually do I live downtown, parked in the garage got my parking ticket did my shopping like always spent close to a few hundred dollars typical these days, when I went to look for my parking ticket I must have dropped it somewhere ,I'm sure in there store I explained this to the women checking me out and they are so money hunger for there 35.00 parking money they were so nasty and rude saying oh well to bad your problem, I was so pissed I left all my grocery's paid another 35.00 so I could get out of there and will never go back!!! everyone knows they don't care but if I can get the word out how they treat people their customers who mean nothing I did my part and hopefully saving someone from these crooks!! take the time and look for someplace else to spend your hard-earned money!! read more

I thought it was nice to finally have a grocery store downtown but I'll commute for a better experience. Our Experience in a Nutshell: -Received inaccurate from this locations automated line about closing time yesterday but they closed 2 hrs early. (Update 5/24/20 : Checked last night and again this afternoon, still states 6am-11pm) -The security guard (provided by "American Guard Services"), tried to educate us on what stealing is and suggested we were considering it. -DONT USE THE CHECKOUT MACHINE NEAR CLOSING TIME. (Who knows when that is though so aim for 8ish?) Our Detailed Experience: I called the phone number (via Google maps) to Fry's downtown location yesterday to confirm the closing time. The automated robot stated "11pm until further notice". By 8:40pm my fiancé and I arrive at this grocery store. 20 min into shopping, I hear the speaker alert the customer in the store that it is now closed. Believing I misheard the time when calling, I hurried to the checkout to avoid being one of 'those' people that linger well after hours. We started towards the checkout lane but a Fry's staff member shouted "self-checkout" as she quickly closed up the registers. Umm ok. We made our way to the self checkout as the staff disappears. Of all the times for it to happen, the machine we used to checkout produced an error halfway through scanning. It began flashing "Help is on the way". No help came but after a few moments we noticed a security guard watching us from the customer service counter. "They all rush out of here as soon as 9 hits, man". A staff member walked by and the security guard did ask him to help but he had clocked out for the night and was unable to assist or contact anyone who could. Okay, no problem. Since the issue was occurring with that particular machine we could go to a different self-checkout machine and just start over. Wrong. The security guard told us we couldn't do that. Unsure of the problem, I asked him why? He said because if we left the machine with the items rang up, it would be stealing. I reconfirmed the definition of stealing with my fiancé and looked at my cart filled with as many groceries/essentials that we could grab within 20 min. I asked him "...and you want us to put all of this back?". He replied "Well, you don't have to, man, but...". Before he could finish, we began walking towards the exit. He kept mentioning the store is closed so I told him "fine, Then we'll leave". He muttered things under his breath as we walked towards the exit. There was no point in escalating since apparently all of the staff is gone "as soon as 9pm hits". On the way out, a group of frustrated customers waited outside of the door. While waiting 15 min for a surprise on-the-clock Fry's staff member to appear and validate parking, we overheard some of the other customers frustrations ranging from staff commonly caught saying rude/derogatory things about customers within earshot and many other occurrences of sub-par customer service. I can't speak for their experiences, however, this was ours. The good news is that after following this customer service experience, the hide'n'go seek staff member did validate our parking. The bad news is I work late again tonight and still don't have groceries. read more

This Fry's is NICE! Almost as Fancy as AJ's. Lots of hipsters and rich-looking elderly people. It feels super spacious like being in an airport food court. I didn't notice any price differences as compared to other Fry's in less urban parts of Phoenix. The only downside (for me at least) is that you must park in a parking garage. Don't know about other people reading this but at my age, having worked in Vegas and Chicago and San Fran and Philly, I am so OVER parking garages and don't care if they are free or not. But I admit to being impatient without apology so go ahead and take this review of Fry's as 5 stars if parking garages are awesome for you. read more

This place is a goddamn JOKE. Could they have built a slower elevator? Parking is a mess! An absolute nightmare! Remember to get your parking ticket validated, because the cashier sure as hell won't ask. Then, IF you do forget you'll have to hoof your cart full of groceries back down the granny speed lift. Seems like the return policy depends on who brings the product. Very disappointing brought my receipt and was within return date. They refused, will never go back to this location. First visit was very pleasant and then it started to happen.... Produce looks nice, but somehow never seems to be as fresh as 20th St location. We have gone back several times and it's just a let down. Having a nice and new building I guess makes up for old, wrinkled produce (several visits and everything from apples, tomatoes and broccoli have seen better days). How about that service? Feeling like I'm an annoyance to the cashier every visit is a great feeling to have. I'm sorry I was an interruption to the more important conversation going on between the teenage employees. Coming from a retail background myself I know how customers should be treated and being walked around instead of greeted and having kids at the registers give attitude is not the way. Your ticket is validated for two hours. It may be a smaller Fry's but it offered a Starbucks, Murray's and a Chompies. I am sorry to say, employees that did not seem to care, to being the most ghetto Fry's I have ever shopped. There was a man walking around with a gun on his belt. We feared for our safety here. AT A GROCERY STORE! Not a good feeling. From the employees I spoke / dealt with, to it's disheveled, dirty, Just plain nasty feel. Not to mention the restrooms. Disgusting! No toilet paper, no paper towels. The soap was sitting on the sink. Someone vandalized the soap dispenser. Floors were absolutely disgusting and the smell was horrific! Pee on the floor, trash all around. I actually slipped on the pee floor. I spoke with two different employees and they did not seem to care, were very rude and ghetto as if I were an inconvenience to them. It was our first and last time shopping this Fry's. Being this store is in a "prime" location (downtown on Jefferson) I would have thought it would have been nice, clean and beautiful. Looking at the web site it looks amazing. A great addition to downtown Phoenix! I like this Fry's store. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's very convenient... They validate parking for the parking garage above the store. They have all the basics including bakery and deli and an extensive beer/alcohol section and some extras, including freshly made sushi, a Chompie's, and a wine bar inside the store. It's very clean and well-stocked. This is a bit smaller than some other locations I've been to... Not surprising given downtown space limitations. Probably as a result of that the aisles aren't as wide as those you might see in more suburban locations. But they aren't so narrow that it presents a problem. Came here for the first time last week (first Fry's in general) and the employees were so helpful! They gave me helpful tips and greeted me with a smile. It looked like the security they have is pretty good too which is super nice since it's downtown. The parking was easy to find and it's nice that it's free. I love the fact there is a grocery store downtown even though I don't work or live downtown but it is convenient for those that do so that is good. There is a parking garage for it accessible off Washington Street. Make sure you take your ticket to get parking validated otherwise it is 25 dollars an hour or I think they said maximum of 50 dollars for the day. You take the glass elevator down to the store and you walk right into the store from it. The store is very nicely organized and includes a wine bar with televisions, a fast food type of restaurant called Chompies that offers breakfast and lunch/dinner options as well as a nice seating area to enjoy your food. Aisles are well stocked. Attractive displays. Make sure you get the code if you need to use the bathroom. The store and merchandise and displays get a 5 star rating. Customer service gives it the 3 I rated. Our cashier did not greet us in any way and talked to a fellow employee most of the time he was ringing up our order. He only engaged with us when hubby asked how his day was going. Lots of other workers around throughout the store. Only 2 made contact with us. One an older man did smile and say hi. Another man did ask us how we were doing. We will be back if in the area and need something. They need to work on customer service. Oh they have a great salad bar! read more

So happy that there's a Frys now right in the heart of downtown Phoenix! Gives us a real city feel now. Came here for drinks at their bar before our Suns game across the street at talking stick resort arena. Definitely won! $4 drafts?!! More than half the price discount of a beer your would get at the game! And they had a wine flight for only $12. I know they just opened, but I can predict they will need a larger bar area soon because this spot is going to be popular before games. We also bought some bread and cheese and ate it at the bar to compliment our drinks. Overall very happy with our service. We will be back for sure! read more

When you walk In you are greeted by an amazing looking vegetables! Everything looked fresh! I checked the price of Jack Daniels and it was $5 cheaper than Safeway!!!
