Hamburger Steak was a freezer burned hamburger patty served under a mound of gelatinous blob of brown gravy. First really poor meal I've had at Fry's. It was a standard in our restaurant rotation - but not any more! It will be a long while before we will be back. There was a sign on the door apologizing for the temporary increase in prices. Found this place while at a baseball game Out of town. What a hidden gem. Clean interior. Friendly staff. And food was presented well. Really liked quantity for price. And quality of food was very good. Had catfish basket which had delicious catfish tenders cooked in a cod meal/flour batter making them nice and crispy. I thought I got a chicken tender in there by accident until my son got one also. What a treat. We'll see next time Hamburgers are really good also. We also experienced the breakfast burritos. She's hard to please when it comes to breakfast and she loved every bite. Everything tastes scratch homemade including the delicious fried pickles we tried. They only get a 2 star simply because there pancakes are seriously to die for being that I am a pancake guy. My seriously only complaint is one of the waiters and the fact that we ordered a meal asked for a substitution of ham foe bacon and were charged for the bacon. There answer was they can't substitute the meal , which okay I get it then I'm charged 32.00 dollars for pancakes eggs and cheese, the Fry's special , coffee, and tea. Oh wait and bacon!!! She not once refilled the tea or checked to see how we were doing! It's not about the money I've spent more at places I think the simple fact that we ordered a meal that came with hash brown and ham , and because neither one of us didn't want it doesn't mean don't put on the plate with the meal I ordered! Ordered food for my mom. Here is how that conversation went. "Can I get a blueberry waffle with no whipped cream" "okay" "and fried mushrooms and home fries" "okay do you want a stack on the pancakes?" "no. I want a blueberry waffle." "so just one?" "yes." They ended up charging me randomly for bell peppers and without asking me if I wanted a refund on my card, they walked over with $1.50 cash. I don't carry cash, I would've liked the refund on my card. When I brought the food to my mom and found that it was STILL A PANCAKE, I called and asked for a refund. My mom hates pancakes. Their reasoning for not giving me a refund was that they "repeated the order twice" (no they didn't) and that a waffle costs more than a pancake. Okay??? I would've paid for the waffle if I ACTUALLY GOT THE WAFFLE, but I received something I didn't pay for. That's the entire point. My mom called the restaurant herself and for the THIRD time they got pancakes confused with waffles. Cris does not know how to take orders, make SURE to get your receipt and read it thouroughly. Well, I had a great experience the FIRST time the wife and I had dinner there. Then we decided one Sunday to try breakfast. It's a 25 mile, one way trip from our place, but we took a chance. They have far too many employees and it was $44 for us to have a regular breakfast and a couple of pancakes. My wife and I are both seniors but no discount. We ate half and took the rest to go. We won't be back. There's absolutely no reason for a breakfast for 2 people to cost almost $50. Goodluck Fry's, you'll need it at your prices. Fried pickle were good. Not the best. But good. The bathrooms are very clean. The decoration is very homey. We ordered pancakes and added eggs and bacon along with sausage gravy and biscuits. The waitress was very sweet. I would recommend adding more salt and maybe Cheyenne pepper to the fried pickles. The pancakes are big. The price was about 17.00 Quick service. To start we came here to eat on duty working for the local ambulance company to which we might have to get up and leave at any time. We sat down order or drinks and it being super hot today we just got waters but then we never had a waiter come take our food order. After being there for 30 minutes and having two parties come in after us that got their food orders taken, we left. When leaving without ordering food or anybody working here acknowledging us my partner went to ask for the manager and when he told the hostess that we didn't even get to order she just laughed. We just moved here and today was our second visit! Last visit was dinner time and the chicken fajita quesadilla was DELICIOUS. Today was breakfast and our waitress was nice, Sunday morning diner full of regulars, and the food was great. The decor was average but we were really surprised at how well the food tasted seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly. Went there for the first time for breakfast (IMO hardest meal to mess up). Place is old and showing it age; could use some TLC or at least a good cleaning (cob webs and other debris noted). Ordered their English Breakfast and it was as expected for a breakfast platter. Coffee could use some help...definitely not Starbucks (or anywhere close).
