Not the best Migas rancheras I've ever had but not awful, I'm pretty sure sliced cheese was put on top so it dried fast. Salsa is the best that I've had

Jaliscos has a lot going for it. Cute space with that expected, "upscale-ish" Mexican restaurant vibe, patio overlooking the creek, plenty of parking available. I've been twice now and service has been good both times. Not great, but prompt and efficient. There wasn't a lot of proactiveness (offering boxes, asking crispy or soft taco, refills, suggestive selling), but they got the job done. The food is pretty good. I've had better, but I haven't been disappointed. Tortilla soup, fine. Chicken enchiladas, great, but amount of sauce on top, lacking. Ground beef and salsa, both have a weird spice that I can't quite place but doesn't quite work. Is it rosemary? Is it entirely too much cumin? I can't tell. The exception to the "fine" food rule is the queso. Jaliscos has the best queso I have ever eaten in my many years of eating queso. When I brought my husband here for the first time, I said "this is the queso I've been trying to find for you for 5 years". He thought he loved queso, but on this day, he learned what queso truly was, and it was a glorious day. My mother ate it and it reminded her of the queso she had fallen in love with 35 years earlier at her first restaurant job. Jaliscos doesn't need anything else to be good as long as they never change the queso. I also wish they had a better bar. Walking into this place, I would expect them to have a really nice bar with a fun environment and drink specials, etc. Instead, they have a bar area that doesn't really look designed to be sat at. You're kind of behind the drink machine, there is space for about 3 people to sit there, and the bar is too deep to really reach across it for service. I don't need to sit at a bar, but it would be a nice addition.

Went in for lunch on a Sunday, it was very crowded but no wait on a table. Our server was quick and attentive, salsa and chips were very good as was our food (chicken Jalisco & mini tacos). Inside was clean, very noisy but like I said it was crowded. I Will definitely come again!

Food is delicious! I highly recommend this Mexican restaurant. The food was hot and delicious. Mario is very attentive and courteous. The place was super clean. I will be returning soon!

So far so good. Love the hot sauce. The service friendly. Very clean and modern for what appears to be an old Pizza Hut. I'm gonna see if I can get some of the hot sauce to take home. It's damm good!

We really enjoyed the food and service from Maribel. My wife had the chimichanga plate with rice and beans and guacamole, the guac was just average but the chimichangas were the best, the best part was she shared these goodies with me!..I enjoyed my chile relleno plate almost as much as the chimichangas.

Food and service were good ... authentic restaurant with a large soup selection. The soda glasses were the size of a 2 liter... everything is bigger in Texas! I had the chicken fajita taco and it was seasoned perfectly. The queso dip was bland but I definitely crushed it!

Tomatoes and avocado I didn't ask for!

Longtime Belton resident here. TMG has been the go-to Mexican for late-night, fast great service &…read morefood over the years. They've even expanded their parking lot over the past few years to accommodate their popularity, including a second drive-through lane. But for the past several weeks, it's had a cone blocking the second lane rendering it unusable. Why have it if it's not going to be utilized? Here's why they're getting a 2 star from me tonight. See, I hit them up for take-home a lot using their drive-through including tonight. The service is kind, usually speedy & the food is consistently great quality - absolutely not mediocre Mexican. However, tonight was the FIRST time I've seen a major change for take-out & it's not good. This is why even after all the good times & food, I'm submitting a review & a less-than par one at that. I did voice my concern with the drive-through facilitator who confirmed this was a brand new adjustment they've made & offered to change it to the same old. But I refused to waste more time & resources. Let me elaborate specifically on the major issue of change here: First & case in point, look at the picture of my order & ask yourself, where are the beans?? They have always used the typical dinner plate styrofoam box. Tonight I got, for the first time, a round aluminum plate instead. You typically get these at Italian restaurants where there is one take-home entree. So now, you CANNOT get your food separated/quarantined. YES, this keeps the order hot, much appreciated. But when you have an entree, and what should be distinguishable sides such as refried beans, rice & salad, WHO wants it all congealed together as if it's one entree? Additionally, I know that many people would have a problem with their food being basically mixed together without diner choice control. Not only that, to prove the point, I opened mine to basically not even SEE the beans. Yes, they're UNDER all that....somewhere! What really irked me too is that with the change, though, not by much, the receiver is presented with seemingly smaller portion sizes for obviously the same price. What gives TMG? Keeping it hot sacrifices some common sense eater preferences/ mix rights & makes me feel like you want to cheat the customer a little bit to save costs too. I'm all for GOOD & REASONABLE changes, but I think this is a bad move.

It took 35 minutes for me to get chips and salsa to the table, I was later asked if I needed anything else, I said can I order a drink. I ordered a sweet tea and when it came back they asked if I needed anything else, well being I had sat so long, I was beyond ready to order my food. I ordered a regular shrimp cocktail and seafood tacos. Food came quickly, the shrimp cocktail was insanely sweet and I cannot even begin to explain why, I ate 4 bites and had to leave it alone. The shrimp tacos were okay. Nothing special. Over all, I did not clear any one item from my plate. They did voluntarily take 25% off both items which I was grateful for. I did however extend it back in a tip. Not sure I would go back but there is a first time for everything. I'd say the best thing about the meal was it was raining on the tin roof I was sitting under and watching the creek free flow in front of it.

The margaritas (mine were on the rocks) made to perfection. Finally a place that has "Hot" salsa. Great taste, great amount of heat. Only miss with all of this are the chips. My personal preference is for a thinner chip. Some like the thicker ones and try this place regardless of my chip preferences. I ordered the Steak Fajitas with Corn tortillas. Great portion size. The sides were portioned to complete the meal. I did ask for sour cream since the menu did not say it came with it. Well it did and the waitress did not let me know that and so I got charged for an extra sour cream. Not a big fan of refried beans, however that was what they had. They tasted good and I believe if you are a refried beans type, they would be considered great! The restaurant itself is modern meets industrial vibe. Cozy but not tiny. The staff could be a little more attentive or at least more personable. All in all, I would eat here anytime I am visiting the area and wanting Mexican.
