We would think common sense would imply to bring the check after we stated we were finished and asked for a box. However, near 20 minutes passed before the check was provided. The next day there was charge for more than half of total with tip from the restaurant. There is no reason for any employee in hospitality, and food and beverage should get a receipt and purposely increase the approved total from the customer. I understand mistakes happen. But charging an additional 52% on a signed receipt just indicates the employee(s) do not have integrity. read more

When their breakfast tacos are good, they are so good. Unfortunately, they're very inconsistent. I'm giving them 4 stars because I order breakfast tacos from them every 2-3 weeks, so I clearly rate them above 3 stars. And when they're on, they are easily 4 stars. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to get 2 star tacos from them :( Sometimes I get mostly egg, or the order is incorrect, and they don't seem to give out green sauce with them by default anymore. I order through Doordash usually so I can't request the green sauce. Their drive-thru is always pretty quick and friendly. As often as I've eaten here, I haven't come to this location for lunch yet. It took 10 minutes to get JUST our drinks, another 10 minutes after that for our waitress to come back and take our food order. In the mean time another customer came in and seated himself ordered his food and drink and got his stuff before the same waitress that took his order came back to us. After I waited for 15 minutes for a drink refill (my mother Had to ask for across the restaurant) the bartender came and brought me a refill. Never refilled hers. We waited 15 minutes for food and then another 10 for the tortillas that went with fajitas, asked for somemore Diablo sauce and waited another 10 minutes, by then our fajitas had started getting cold. $46 worth of food and crappy service. Good late night eats! This is one of the three locations in Temple. Their plates come with all you'd expect: rice, beans, and pico de gallo. We had a barbacoa plate, chile relleno with a shrimp enchilada, and chicken enchiladas. The barbacoa was on the oily side, but it had the best flavor among our platters. I'm not sure what the darker sauce was on the shrimp enchilada, and it wasn't enhancing the flavor. Anyhow it was still edible. There's a nice variety of Jarrito soft drinks! I love how the beer mug was chilled. There's a great looking bar with televisions around. The space is great with lots of seating. Including our table there were only three occupied. I'm new to Temple and had no idea where to get Mexican food so drove by this place and decided to pull in a give it a try. Didn't read reviews or anything prior to coming here. I thought the food was pretty good. I had 2 breakfast tacos and thought they were pretty good. My son got an enchilada plate and I tried it and liked it and so did he. My husband got the American breakfast plate he liked his food as well. Service was good and so was the sweet tea. Also we liked the chips and salsa. read more

Went there to get queso compuesto after arriving to my home I noticed a chip inside of my queso. I called back due to be unnerved by given used cheese. I asked to speak to the manager the young man that answer the phone gave me a quick answer like oh the chip must have accidentally fallen in the Queso when they are served separately and quickly hung up in my face. Horrible customer service and nastiness of used cheese. I have been a great customer of this establishment but, this experience of getting used food is not cool. read more

This was a messy tasteless set of plates. There wasn't a hint of the richesness that Mexican food affords. The chimichanga was soft , cheese slid across beans and rices like orange wax, the rice had a good texture, the dab of guacamole amid the orange goo was wholly inadequate and flavorless. Not sure how this place is still open. It is next to impossible to get service while seated anywhere including the bar. It seems to be hit or miss on if you will get someone who actually cares about ensure the service and food are up to some sort of standard. Sad part is, while recieving horrible service at the bar, the owner was sitting at the table behind us and they had no problem ensuring he was happy. I love this place! They serve a wide variety of fresh Tex-Mex, and they even offer a mushroom quesadilla served with guac and great breakfast options for vegetarians. Food is always fresh and hot, restaurant is always clean and welcoming, and the service is always quick and friendly. Music is great, the decorations in the back are great- warm and inviting. I have a lot of fun there. I usually get the quesadilla plate. Other than that, their food if so so, nothing spectacular. Great Mexican food! You can dine in or drive thru. Full bar with several beers on tap. The enchiladas were fresh, liked the gravy sauce. The crispy beef tacos were crispy, not greasy. The chips and salsa were good, salsa made fresh in house. Will be back! read more

We ate at Sol de Jalisco on West Adams, across from our neighborhood. It seems on the surface as a nice hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant. I felt I should review it here. The points (or criteria) I used to evaluate this place are as follows: 1. Reception 2. Atmosphere 3. Server 4. Food appeal 5. Satisfaction 6. Price 1-6 is my point system, each above-listed criteria equal a point. 1 = bad and 6 = good. 1. Reception: There was no real reception, we picked an empty table and sat. Then we were greeted and asked for our drink choices. It was obvious the waitress didn't want to be there. It wasn't because of English as a second language factor, but my evaluation of short, curt answers is combined with body language. We later discerned it was her birthday, so it may have been a one-time not wanting to be there thing for her and you may have a better experience. No points awarded for this requirement. 2. Atmosphere: There was construction going on and a lot of foot traffic in and out of the restaurant because of it. Also, I have my License to carry (Firearm) and although I was not carrying at this moment, I took a cursory interest in the regulations for it they had posted. They had two signs posted about it, but they were both in Spanish. I speak and read a little Spanish but it still necessitated my having a conversation with the waitress about it. By the way, if you are licensed it is totally legal to carry there. It was clean, they had tables with benches to sit on, and the walls were painted a nice color. I didn't notice any smoke in the room, and that's a good thing. The far wall had a T.V. surrounded with shelves that displayed all the beers and adult drinks that they had to offer. Half point awarded for this requirement. 3. Server: Like I said, she didn't want to be there, it was obvious. She had a nice smile though when greeting us, but just kind of threw the napkins in front of us. She was very nice and pleasant to talk to. She was very receptive but wasn't too attentive, it seemed like she was always thinking of other things. She took a while to do most things or didn't do them at all. The only exception was she got our food to the table rapidly, but she never refilled our drinks without prompting. Maybe it was because it was her birthday, but I still left her a 20% tip. Half point awarded for this requirement. 4. Food appeal: The food looked better (which is all too rare nowadays) than the menu. It got out to us quickly, in quantities, that from looking at the menu, one wouldn't have predicted. It also tasted great! The chips (homemade) and salsa (red and spicy) was awesome. We had to buy extras of chips and salsa to take home with us. A point is awarded for this requirement. 5. Satisfaction: The food tasted great, and filled me up, when I could eat the food, and have a drink to chase it with. Although the food was done very well, a person can only endure so much spiciness (salsa) without quenching their thirst also. The atmosphere could have been quieter. The server could have been more attentive. Great food. Very nice accommodations I'm sure most days. I just feel I was there on a "perfect storm day." Like I said, it was clean. Crazy bald guy cleaner clean. Half point awarded for this requirement. 6. Price Extremely reasonable for what you receive in return. The food was amazing. A point awarded for this requirement. Overall, I awarded this restaurant 3 1/2 out of 6 points (average). It wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't the worst either. If you love great food, I recommend this place though. read more

They Charged me 5.50 for Togo salsa and chips when I had bought 4 entrees. Salads all had plenty of meat, besides One not having the correct up charged fajita meat, but not nearly enough lettuce to constitute a salad. read more

I haven't ever stopped to eat in Temple, but this place will be where I stop for a while. The food was great, the chips were fantastic, and I don't know what the second salsa was, but it came out warm, and had some of the best flavor. The food reminded me a lot of some of the places I used to haunt back in San diego, but not so far away. I got the carne asada burrito, and yes it was covered in queso, but oh so good. The beef was seasoned well, and the beans and rice were very good. My wife got the enchilada combo plate and it looked great. My father got the shrimp tacos, and he ate everything that was on his plate. Next time we go I need to try the fajitas. The staff was so kind and welcoming. Family just moved to Temple, so we trucked on up to visit them. They recommended this place, it was the first place they stopped for a meal when they moved to town. The service was super friendly and prompt, and we were greeted with some of the most delicious limeade ever. The chips were fresh and delicious, and the main salsa was great - but apparently you have to ask for another one that comes out warm and its super smokey in flavor. Yum! I got the standard ground beef taco, cheese enchilada, rice and beans. It was on point. Great sauce, great flavor in the meat, everything was as cheesy and it should have been, but not over the top. Everyone in the party was thrilled with what they got - an oversized, dripping with queso, beef burrito, a plate of shrimp tacos, and a kids meal with enchilada, rice, and beans for someone with a small appetite.
