Went to a birthday party there and I can't remember when I tasted food so horrible. The "salsa" tasted spoiled and the cheese dip wasn't much better. I ordered the crispy tacos with beef. The beef tasted, and looked like it had been cooked several times over several days. Even the refried beans tasted off. The service was ok, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There are many other Mexican restaurants that serve better quality food. Spend your hard earned dollar somewhere else. I gave it one star only because of the service. read more

Terrible lunch. Waitress couldn't speak english. This is Texas. In America. The water was good, so were the margaritas. That's it. Ordered two lunch size taco specials, only one arrived. We had ordered a beef quesadilla, and split that, then there was no more food coming. WTF? Had 3 waitpeople, one guy had dark shades on. Is he with the cartel? Pretty standard Tex-Mex restaurant with a very modest atmosphere. There were regular flies and fruit flies alike. I had the chimichanga plate with shredded chicken, and it was really flavourful. I enjoyed it. The beans were not very appetizing though. We got the bacon wrapped shrimp as an appetizer, and it was alright. My friend liked it much more than I did. The chips and salsa were unfortunately so mid that I think I only ate three before I gave up. read more

Overpriced. I got the carne guisada plate and the majority of it was nothing but green bell pepper. They charged us a large party fee because we had 5 people. Then a 3% surcharge because we used a credit card. Definitely not worth the price. On top of that, we got all of our food but my son had to wait for his plate for a while. read more

Attention! Immediate opportunity to open a sit down Mexican restaurant in Temple, Texas. Not exactly sure why finding good Tex-Mex cuisine, in clean surroundings with reliable service is such a challenge. But it is. We skipped our old favorite Tex-Mex spot this trip due to a string of terrible reviews and went searching for a replacement. Our search led us to Sol de Jalisco. Side note: Sol de Jalisco means "Sun of Jalisco", Jalisco being the area in Mexico where the tequila comes from. Sounds like a lovely place. Anyway...Sol de Jalisco it was. The architecture is interesting. The entryway is designed to look like a castle parapet and drawbridge. Who knew that castles are a thing in Jalisco. ‍ Verily, apparently they are. So we navigated the dragons in the moat around the restaurant, went inside, and were promptly greeted by a nice friendly gentlemen who sat us immediately. This was the last thing that happened immediately during our visit. Our server was a friendly young lady who offered to take drink orders and attempted to recite the types of margaritas offered when we asked. After a valiant try, we rescued her from this pop quiz and requested a drink menu along with some chips, salsa, and queso. Several minutes passed before we began looking around for her to check progress on the order. Thank heaven that she had not fallen prey to one of the moat dragons...there she was, across the restaurant, taking the order of a group that just walked in. A friendly lady appeared from the kitchen with chips and cheese dip. Neither were housemade but both were tasty. We continued to wait for our drink menus and for the jousting match to begin. At last, the drink menus appeared and we took advantage of our server's presence by ordering two 1800 top shelf margs and our entrees: beef fajitas and carne asada. The margaritas were a generous size and contained just enough alcohol to cause them to fail admission to an AA gathering. The chips at last were consumed and we asked for more. After several minutes, our kind server noticed us, approached, and took the order for a refill. The refill of chips arrived in time, and also our entrees. The fajitas were indeed beef but did not arrive sizzling as you might expect at other Tex-Mex castles. The carne asada was in fact cooked medium rare, just the way us Knights of the Round Table like it. It also was generously garnished with cactus which was a welcome bonus. Our check was delivered and offered a discount for cash. Forsooth, I had just come into some cash earlier that afternoon from a legal transaction and decided to take advantage of said discount. Our server disappeared once again, having no cash available to make change. A line formed behind me of other weary knights waiting to pay. My change was delivered in mostly singles, which required the removal of shoes to count. In summary, the food was tasty and the experience was interesting. I do much appreciate them cooking my carne asada to order and I do legit like prickly pear on that dish. Authentic move. The place was clean, including the bathrooms, which is always a positive sign. The service needs some work but the people are pleasant and polite so they're probably not far from four and five star reviews. For now... I will return with Chef Robert Irvine visits to shoot an episode of Restaurant Imposslble. read more

I really enjoyed it. First time here, traveling on business. First noticed that is was very clean. Excellent, friendly, prompt service. Enjoyed the chili relleno and a taco. This is one of my fav mid week or need a Margarita places. They have such a good vibe, nice music, staff is always so polite and friendly. I've tried various things on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Chimichanga is probably my fav thing covered in queso and next is the enchiladas. I love that they have multiple areas of seating based on what you are feeling. I usually choose the bar area but the patio is equally inviting on a nice day and they've recently started doing live music. read more

Me and my grand daughters went to eat here on January 5, ran into some people I know, we sat at different tables, I was charged a the gratitude fee and it was me and my 2 young grandchildren!! I spoke with the manager about it and he assumed I was with them because I had conversations with them, I insisted that i wasn't with the party. I fly by here in the mornings during the weekdays and finally took the time to stop in and check out the breakfast scene, which ended up being a pretty good experience. It's very clean, quiet, 2 TVs up for your viewing pleasure. I opted to eat-in and took a seat and reviewed the menu. Lots of good choices listed and I couldn't make a decision so I enlisted help of my waitress, who said their omelets are popular, and her fave was the Mixed Omelet since it has everything in it (chorizo, ham, egg, veggies). That sounds good, let's give it a shot. I went to the bathroom to wash up and get situated (you know, do the hair thing, check the teeth and nails, etc...) only to come back to find all my food waiting for me at the table. Wow - that's faster than snowman running for cover on a hot Texas summer day. Chips and salsa were an extra $0.50 - - sure, why the hell not? It came w/ 2 salsas, a warm and cold version, both tasted very similar yet very good. I also got a different warm salsa w/ the omelet plate which also came with refried beans, hash browns, and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. The Mixed Omelet was very good, quality was better than expected, the plate was also clean and well presented. I think it said there were potatoes mixed into the omelet and I didn't get much of that, but regardless it was pretty tasty. I liked the chips - light and not stale, and both salsa were very good too. I also got a iced tea mixed w/ lemonade (Arnie Palmer) which the waitress was nice enough to give me a 32oz to-go cup of it for the road - - that's cool. I'd say if you're interested in a Mexican Breakfast that's pretty good quality w/ respectable prices, this would be my go-to place so far in the Temple area. They have Happy Hour everyday from 3-6p w/ drink and food specials, and the weekly lunch specials are $1 off the original price up until 3pm. I think I would definitely go back, probably to try their Jalisco Migas Plate. The waitress was very nice, accommodating and patient as well. read more

We had our Christmas dinner in their private party room on 12/16/22. We chose the fajita buffet with all the fixings for dinner. The room was a nice spacious area, very clean. The staff was friendly, food was good and their prices were reasonable. They have a really nice patio area I will be back to check out. The service when we first got there was good and we were seated very quickly, but the time that it took for us to get our orders in and get our food was quite lengthy. Once we did get our food and I started to eat, it was good at first but when I took a scoop of the refried beans I was disappointed and disgusted by the taste. Very nice, clean and food is fabulous!! Large portions and very reasonably priced. Wait staff are friendly and very efficient!! My Chili Relleno was definitely just made and not out of the freezer! One of the best I've ever had!! My husband had the Carna Asada and it was nearly bigger than the plate. He said that it was awesome and the flavor reminded him of the recipe he has used for years!! I really really enjoyed going here we went to have a casual night out to eat on a Thursday and a dj came in and changed up the whole atmosphere after we were thinking about hitting a club up for drinks we ended up staying there and things got really fun with people and music playing to our liking, this is definitely one of my favorite places to go to after I been here a few months living in temple and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that lives here and hasn't really been. read more

I asked for the ticket and after 20 minute wait my waitress told me to pay at counter. What?!
