I ordered online for pickup here, and I was happy with the food. It was $13 for a chimichanga, which came with rice and beans. I got it with chicken, and it was really flavourful. It was filling and enough for two meals. They even gave tortilla chips with salsa, which I did not expect. I fear my experience may have been worse if I had dined in after reading the reviews, but I enjoyed getting takeout from here at a good price. It looks like a fun place for drinks. read more

We stopped here for breakfast after a visit to the Temple VA hospital. We had eaten dinner at the other location (#1) last month and wanted to try the breakfast here. We got right in and were seated quickly. Our server took our drink orders and returned with drinks and took our food order. I wanted the menudo and my wife opted for the scrambled egg quesadilla. Our order arrived in a short amount of time and we were pleasantly surprised at how large the servings were. The menudo came in a large bowl and was served with tortillas, chopped jalapeño, onion, cilantro, and lime quarters. I asked for some dried chilies which our server quickly brought out. The menudo was very tasty, had nice chunks of the requisite tripe and meat as well as posole (which some restaurants don't include) and after doctoring it up with the condiments, was delicious! My wife's quesadilla was served with potatoes and refried beans. She loved it! The only thing to add is that the cheese appeared to be American cheese (definitely should have been cheddar or blanco) and that added a bit of oily liquid under the quesadilla. But the flavor was really good, especially with the accompanying green salsa. All in all we were very pleased with the entire experience. First and last visit. Oh boy.... Salsas and chips delivered looked and tasted like were from a bag and jar not made in house. One star because the guacamole was halfway decent. The queso appetizer had pieces of meat - maybe pork? and very little queso. Odd texture and not sure what the rest was in the bowl but looked and tasted very unappealing. I have been here several times, usually for brunch or lunch which has always been good. I'd say this place isn't the most authentic, best Mexican food I've ever had, but it hits the craving when needed. The enchiladas verdes are tasty. The guacamole live was good, but felt like it had more onions and tomatoes than it did avocado. The ambiance is fun and family friendly. Burned food, Diablo Shrimp, and they offered to remake for a to go order, I passed as you never know what you get once you bring it to their attention... I asked for a local beer and he told me they had Shiner Bock and Miller Lite lol. Then he said they had an Austin beer and I ordered that. When the girl brought it, she told me it was a cider which I am not a fan of ciders. Our waiter came out and was telling me that's what I ordered. I'm like chill it's ok let me see what else you got. The girl told me I could get something else but I would have to pay for the cider. Usually the bar will take it back if you are not happy or satisfied. This place has inconsistencies. Last time Gringo Street Tacos (4) had no cheese and this time they included cheese. .The bigger issue was not fresh, as in the meat was rubbery and chewy. Tortillas tasted mushy were stuck together to the plate. Like they were microwaved. Salsa was definitely watered down. They have a comedian in the kitchen who diced up 4 onions for each plate. They will overcharge you if they have the chance they've been caught multiple times , I've been once with my family and we ordered a few things they ran out of, and instead of telling or asking us to order something else THEY CHARGED US FOR IT and brought out something else and when confronted they wouldn't take the food off our tab. Ended up here accidentally, twice! My GPS told me that I was going to Little Monterey's, it wasn't until the second visit that I realized that little Monterey's is actually next door. A beautiful mistake! The food here is delicious! The chips and salsa make a great first impression! The red salsa is pleasantly spicy and has a home-made feel. But that green salsa??? Fantastic! Also picky but creamy and delicious! It's gotta be avocado and jalapeño based, but really sure but it will have you licking the bowl clean and asking for me. The shrimp fajitas were plentiful and so filling! So much so that I'm pretty sure I tore the lining of my stomach by eating too much. The fajita marks are present and everything is marinated beautifully. You won't have any dry fajitas here. You get a very healthy portion of rice and beans, which's re usually lackluster but here?? At Mexican grill?? The beans and rice are worthy of praise as well! We had dinner here on 9-16-2025 and waited 20 minutes for queso and then 20 more for our entrees. Our waitress was inattentive and spent a lot of time out of sight or chatting it up with other workers on break Another waiter had to check on us and then hunt her down. The manager finally noticed we had been there forever and asked what was up so she went to look for her. The manager refilled the drinks and salsa. We finally got our order which had guacamole all over it which we asked to be on the side and the tostadas were swimming in enchilada gravy so there was no way to pick them up, Then the credit card machine wouldn't work and all three of them hung over our booth trying to figure it out which took a good 10 minutes. It was embarrassing. THEN to top it all off we were overcharged $10.75. I saw reviews today that said it happens often. RIDICULOUS! I had to call and confront them and am waiting for a refund. From the hostess who had a great smile and very informative, to our server April, she did a great job and so pretty!!! They were very attentive and kind. I stopped in for lunch with an old friend, who recommended the place, as I was traveling through Temple. The place had plenty of parking and the main dining area was packed with people. I took my daughter to eat at the Mexicano Grill 2 "restaurant" (and that's a loose use of the term restaurant) for lunch today. Let me say this, if you get that overwhelming feeling, you shouldn't dine once you walk in; listen to yourself. We didn't. The outdated dump was like walking into an old throwback Mexican movie from the 1960's. We ordered the chimichanga without meat. We asked for refried beans, rice, and onions only. Instead, we were served a tortilla stuffed with a soggy mixed veggie blend. I showed the server the chimichanga that had nothing we ordered. The server (asked not to be identified) stated "I spoke to the owner, and he said, "too bad, the dish is served the way you get it". The owner refuse to come to the table and speak to us. Once I informed her that I was a food blogger with 800k followers, she became very nervous and asked us not to leave and left to speak to the owner again. Upon her return, the owner refused to give his name, and we were instructed to pay. Folks, if you are looking for a good meal at a good price, then DON'T eat at this dump in Temple Texas. It is located on the access road off 31st street. Save your $39.83. The homeless could do more with it. read more

We ordered through Uber eats, and when the food was delivered, the driver obviously had dropped some of it, and there was red sauce all over the containers. Additionally, the food was not as we asked for it from the restaurant. We asked for chopped onions on our enchiladas and we didn't get them and then we called them and told them about it and they said well it's extra it cost more money, we would've gladly paid the extra to get our onions. What are the on orders was fajitas with beef and chicken and they sent two tortillas for that large amount of food. Also, they sent one small bag of tortilla chips for three people for three orders. We called the restaurant to tell them about the problems with our order and the food and they hung up on us. We called back and they still were very rude and arguing with us about it so I would not recommend this place especially if you're getting the food delivered from Uber eats.
