First time there, great experience other than getting my salad WITH my meal. 2nd time there, service was bad, got my salad AFTER I finished my meal! Today I requested my salad before my meal, barely got it before. She dropped our meal off and never saw her again. She was more concerned about writing the daily special perfectly on the board. I heard good things about this place. All the waitresses seem like there on top of things. I ordered the Fry's breakfast. I was very specific about how I wanted my eggs. I hate runny whites. I jokingly told the waitress that it grossed me out. Well they came out super running to the point that the whites were clear. Nasty. :-) I showers it to her. She apologized and offered to replace them. I declined. I don't like to send food back. She said that was the 2nd complaint and that she would let the kitchen know. New to town and I gave this place three chances; results progressively worse each time. Food is often cold, service very sporadic, and they never seem to get the order right. I'm sure they are nice people, but FFS trying to enter an order correctly on their cell phones (yup, that's how they roll) is asking for mistakes. We've been coming to Fry's since we moved here five years ago. They changed management a year or two ago and things just aren't the same. You can't substitute anything, you can't get regular toast (who wants thick TEXAS toast with their breakfast??). I wanted to add a pancake and our waitress said "my boss is here so I probably can't even get that done"....I had to point out that they had individual pancakes on the menu. Exactly what I wanted for breakfast. I got the combo meal which was eggs, bacon, sausage, string style hash browns, and two buttermilk pancakes. Coffee was delicious. Food arrived timely and perfectly cooked. I would be eating there every weekend if it were located in Austin. I don't know what the experience would be if it was busy though. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I love a good old school diner with classic American fare after church on Sunday. On the up side the food was really good. The floor is dirty. They seem to be understaffed which may account for the lack of cleanliness and the horrific service. Our server came for our drink order. I asked for water. She left and brought back water for everyone at the table without bothering to ask what anyone else wanted. Strange experience. It took her forever to come back for our food order after delivering a table full of waters. When she did come for the food order she typed it in on her phone which is just weird to have a cell phone out when you're working. She had a really hard time understanding what we ordered and we each had to repeat our order 2-3 times very slowly. The food took a reasonable amount of time to come out but I asked for water refills twice before we actually got a refill. We had to hunt her down for the check after promptly asking for the check as soon as we received the food. Went to pay and the man at the front tells me how much to pay without bothering with a check. The whole experience was odd and seemed very disorganized. Waiting tables just isn't rocket science and it required way more effort on my part than I'm willing to put forth a second time. It's a shame because I really liked the food. read more

After 3 visits hoping for better, it actually got worse. The service is horrible. The wait staff may or may not notice your arrival and even then, they completely ignore you after you get your food. (I hope your order was right, and you didn't want a refill on drinks.) The salad has never come before the meal and even came after on one trip. When Fry's first opened, the prices, service & food was great! We ate there all of the time and recommended to everyone. However, the only reason we go there now, is because they are the only diner food in town, if you don't want pizza, fried chicken or Mexican Food they are your only option. If they had some competition, they would have to up there game. Their hamburgers & sandwiches use to come with sides, now sides,even chips, are $1.99 additional but hamburger and sandwich prices are the same if not more. What get's us the most is their no substitution policy, if you wont eat something that happens to come on the plate, it's just tough, they will leave it off, but will not substitute regardless if it is equal or lesser value. read more

I came here with my family. We all ordered the sirloin tips. The waitress hardly spoke english and didn't understand basic questions (can we please get a steak knife, etc.). The salad was spring mix and no where on the menu did it say what was on it and that it was not just lettuce. Both me and my father ordered our meat medium rare but the meat was cooked well done. The onions were served essentially raw. The fries that my dad ordered were from frozen. The manager (or at least who i assume is the manager) said oh I'm sorry when we told her that the food was not right. Theres a sign that says the managers can not discount or refund food. The food here is mostly typical local diner fare for Texas. The food is good. I got one of the "signature plates" which was 2 crepes stuffed with eggs scrambled with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and jack cheese. The crepes were topped with cheese sauce. It was also supposed to be topped with diced tomatoes as well, but my serving didn't have any tomatoes. The crepes looked packaged, not made from scratch. The dish was rich and filling. My husband and I ate at Fry's for the first time yesterday (Saturday noon) and found it a very good experience. The place was clean and looked good. We found the service to be fast and efficient. The waitress came around several times to ask about us and refill our drinks. I had the Shrimp Poboy and it was really good, big shrimp in a light batter, fries were also good. Hubby had the chicken fried steak and he also enjoyed that---I will have to try it to make sure, lol. It did come with gravy on top which is the norm but I would prefer it on the side. I used to like this place when we first moved to Belton 2 years ago. Now they increased their prices a lot, changed their menu a bunch. My husband and I were craving fish fry/catfish. We went there about a month ago & it was awful!! I believe it was 13.99$ a plate with a few tiny pieces of catfish that were awful & 2 burnt hush puppies. It upset my stomach later. We also went maybe 3 months ago & it was not good that time either. Breakfast is pretty good. Over a year ago I really enjoyed the food. Now not so much. read more
