Catfish and green beans
Jane L.

We've been wanting to try this place out for a while and we finally did tonight and we will definitely be back! The service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious. I had the catfish with green beans and macaroni and cheese and everything was perfect. The green beans were fresh and Sautéed with a lot of onion just the way I love it. My husband had one of their burgers and said it was the best burger he ever had! We will be back!

Cobb salad with bacon on the side

A random stop but so glad I got to experience Frumpy Joe's. -The beef steak was delicious and such a generous portion, topped with mushrooms and onions. Came with two sides which I also enjoyed. - Cobb Salad: You know me and my salads, had to get one as a side. But this portion was also very generous. Possibly shareable depending on your hunger level. They have a very large space, but we were one of 5 groups in there so felt amply spaced out in our booth. Chatted a bit with the waitress, such a nice lady. Hope we can come again soon.

Had to take my turkey club to go! It was da bomb!

Best Turkey Club sandwich ever! It was done and made to order in less than 5 minutes and it was delicious! Their homemade chips were the best ever, too! I may stop by again on my way home! Not very big as space but with plenty of tables and also plenty of high chairs by the bar area. Ample selection of beverages and their menu has everything for everyone. They prep and make a lot of the food themselves, not the frozen stuff you get everywhere. Stop by and decide for yourself and don't get bogged down by some petty complaints from petty people.

Happened to stop in on fried chicken day, and, oh man, am I glad we did! It was deliciously light and crisp and the accompanying green beans were fresh and oh-so-tasty! The owners told us the story of rehabbing the place after they bought it - they definitely take pride in the cleanliness of the whole restaurant and the quality of the food!!

Rustic on the outside, delicious in the tummy!

We took time to stop by for a late lunch on our cross country drive. We can tell these guys take pride in their housemate recipes. Breaded chicken items and sauces on the menu were delish. We took away some homemade desserts. Can't wait!

I searched "country fried steak" & "chicken fried steak" and both results led me to this place…read more I am a big chicken fried steak breakfast person. My fiancee and I decided to check this out because she wanted pancakes. We mapped our way to Hwy 47 Kitchen - and as we pulled it, it was a gas station. I immediately was hesitant. We pulled around the back where it looks like they had a drive thru once before. The signage was all missing - i was considering turning around and going home. We parked, walked in, and it was packed... so, i thought okay maybe the food is decent. We sat down, were given water and menus. We both picked our breakfast entree and opted for coffee. The food came out fast, our waitress was nice and quick. Her pancakes were very large, they came with bacon, hash browns, and eggs. It was more food than she knew what to do with. She ended up getting half of it to go. My chicken fried steak was crispy, tasty, and had a decent amount of gravy on it. The eggs were obviously cooked on a flat top, and they had a nice texture to them. The hash browns had a bit too much butter for me - i had to over season them because they were soggy. My only other complaint was the amount of flies buzzing around. Other than that, it exceeded my expectations. I am glad I didn't judge this book by its cover.

And very much worth the wait. I wanted to recommend a dish, but to be truthful, all their entrees are delicious. I will add that their wait staff are excellent. They do yeoman's duty filling orders. Please leave generous tips. They earn it. Please visit Ainsley's. I'm just a Hermann native fortunate enough to eat there every chance he gets. I promise you'll thank me.

We had walked from Hermanhoff winery, specifically because we have loved Ainsley's in the past. Our fifth member was joining us from our second-street rental as soon as he dropped off our purchases. We were not allowed to sit until our fifth member arrived. Fine. We stood in the entrance. But my sister is in her late '50s and was overcome by heat from the walk. She sat down briefly so she wouldn't throw up and so she could catch her breath. The young woman running the restaurant immediately ordered all of us out. We appealed to her compassion, but she kept quoting The Rules, and insisted we leave. This had been one of our favorite restaurants in Hermann until today. My sister left in tears, humiliated, and struggled to get back to our rental. She is still crying. And thankfully did not collapse on the sidewalk from heat stroke. I will never forgive the young woman or Ainsley's for treating my sister badly. Shame on you. Shame on you. Shame on you.

When we arrived, the restaurant did seem a little understaffed, so service was slower than usual, but thankfully I had made a reservation and we had no trouble getting seated. Even with the wait, the staff was kind and doing their best, which was totally understandable. I ordered the Zydeco pasta with crawfish, and we also shared the jambalaya casserole. Both dishes were fantastic. The pasta was basically like a rich, flavorful lobster mac & cheese -- absolutely delicious. The jambalaya casserole was topped with this amazing cheesy sauce that made it even better. The restaurant itself was such a cute spot, with way more seating than I expected, including an adorable patio in the back. Overall, such a charming place with amazing comfort food. Definitely a spot I'd come back to 100%.

The dining area was clean with a nice stamped concrete floor, had loads of natural light with huge windows in the back, and it had a beautiful New Orleans mural in the back. We wished for a bigger dish for the small cups of gumbo and red beans and rice because they were so good! I'm sure they'd come a bit more seasoned or spicer in the south, but in MO, they seemed to tame it down a bit - still delicious though! (And there are two hot sauces and a Cajun spice blend at the table.) The wedge salad with the homemade blue cheese dressing was delicious!! I'd order the dressing on the side though - our salad was swimming a bit... Enjoy your stop!!

There is not a wait list but we got there around the middle of the Sunday morning brunch rush and were seated within 5-10 min. The hostess was not in a great mood but we didn't let that hamper our spirits. The menu is huge. You can have brunch or Mexican lunch. They have your typical breakfast items with a Mexican twist or they have Mexican breakfast items. I chose the build your own croissant sandwich while my hubby got an omelet. Lots of staff trying to coordinate getting people seated, and food/drinks going. We only waited a few minutes before getting seated at a table in the bar area. Server came by quickly to ask about drinks and food orders. We needed a couple of minutes, and while we worked on it, a different lady brought a couple of pastries. They were tasty and not as sweet as they looked. We ordered a seasonal breakfast special and a birria dish, along with chips and queso. Food came out after about 15 minutes, and we assumed our server forgot to put in the chips. No worries, as the dishes are huge portions and very tasty! She realized as we were about halfway through eating and asked if someone had already brought them out. We said no and she went and got them. At that point, we could have skipped it. The queso wasn't great and tastes like melted American cheese with some peppers in it. Not at the same level as the other food. Restaurant is noisy, and the walls and ceiling don't help dampen it much. Would come again if in the area, just would make sure to budget more time and check on the appetizer early!
