The server was polite and prompt, as usual. The goddess chicken salad sandwich was honestly amazing. The chicken pieces were large and generous, and the sauce was so flavorful. The brioche bun was also quite good, with very green spinach. The side apple cabbage slaw was very fresh, but a little bland, and I feel it could have had a slightly more bold flavor (either more vinegar or spice, depending on the desired direction). We will continue to enjoy and appreciate this little slice of Washington.

The highlight? Eggs over easy were cooked to PERFECTION. All the whites were completely cooked and the yolks were completely runny. That takes SKILL, people! My husband's "pony" was good. The gravy was rather bland, like mine, but he did enjoy it. I tried his biscuit and didn't care for it at all as it was on the bland side. He ordered poached eggs and they were cooked *perfectly*!! If you have mobility challenges, park in the back, enter through the ramp and you'll be directly in the main dining room without having to deal with any steps. The establishment has such a fun vibe. It's located next to railroad tracks and embraces the train ambience detailed decor. The dress code is very casual. I was greeted warmly as I entered, and shown to a table. I was pleasantly surprised to not have to wait for a table on a Saturday night, even though they were rather busy. Service was top-notch throughout my visit. And we were even reminded of the "whistle stop" which is when a freight train rolls through unexpectedly and many drinks are half off during that time. It happened once during our 2+ hour visit. This is a barbecue place with many options for carnivores. During Lent season, they have a delicious fish sandwich available. It's really limited options though if you're vegetarian. That may change when they add some Mexican food to the menu soon. I hope. We chose to visit on a night when performer Terrance Wafer was playing. He played known top hits on an acoustic guitar with incredible vocals. We really enjoyed listening to him. I'm already looking forward to returning here.

Although it is basic diner food, I was left filling full. I was happy to see a large chocolate milk on the menu. I was also happy to see they source locally as much as they can for their products. There is table, seating booth, seating, and bar seating. They need to update their check-in counter as simply yelling names is not sufficient in the large space due to the amount of noise coming from the diners a simple text or pager system would do this restaurant some good.

I stopped at Big Boys Subs in Washington, MO on my way home from a weekend of camping and I'm so…read moreglad I did. When I walked in, I was greeted right away. Super friendly staff and the place was BUSY (always a good sign). I could tell a lot of locals eat here because people seemed to know the employees, and one guy was even piecing together punch cards to score a discount . Inside there are tables, chairs, and even a little bar to sit at. I ordered the Cod Sub, the Buffalo Chicken Sub, and the Raspberry Chipotle Chicken Sandwich (mine without bacon because of a red meat allergy). While I waited, they offered me a glass of water which was a nice touch. The smell when I opened my food in the truck was AMAZING. I went straight for the Raspberry Chipotle Chicken Sandwich--grilled chicken, cheese, that sweet & tangy chipotle raspberry sauce, all on one of the freshest buns I've had in a long time. Juicy, flavorful, and came with fries that were seasoned just right. Honestly, I wish I had a side of that raspberry chipotle sauce just for the fries because the ones that caught extra sauce were SO good. The other two subs had to wait until I got home that night, but even a few hours later they held up. The Cod Sub was thick, flaky, and perfectly topped. The Buffalo Chicken Sub had good flavor without being overwhelming (and I'm kind of a spice wimp, so if I can handle it, it's definitely on the milder side). And can we talk about the bread? SO good. I don't know if they bake it in-house or get it from somewhere special, but it's not your standard cheap sandwich bread. It really makes the difference. Overall, I'm super impressed. Great food, great service, and clearly a local favorite. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town--probably after my next camping trip. If you live in Washington and haven't tried this place yet, you're missing out. And if you're just passing through on your way to I-44, do yourself a favor and grab a sub to go.

We also remembered these subs which were catered as late night snacks at their wedding, so we knew they were going to be good. Oh man. Even better than we remembered. The toasted raviolis were FIRE! I went with a shrimp po boy and my hubby went for the spicy Italian with a side of wings. We both took a bite of our food, looked at each other and said, "yum." Even the wings were impressive. They had the right crisp that a good wing should have when you take that initial bite. The meat was juicy and the flavor of the buffalo was on point. The subs had such good bread that we agreed that it must be made on site. Now if that is true or not, we do not know nor does it matter. But it is goooood. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. We will def be back next time we visit.

Lots of staff trying to coordinate getting people seated, and food/drinks going. We only waited a few minutes before getting seated at a table in the bar area. Server came by quickly to ask about drinks and food orders. We needed a couple of minutes, and while we worked on it, a different lady brought a couple of pastries. They were tasty and not as sweet as they looked. We ordered a seasonal breakfast special and a birria dish, along with chips and queso. Food came out after about 15 minutes, and we assumed our server forgot to put in the chips. No worries, as the dishes are huge portions and very tasty! She realized as we were about halfway through eating and asked if someone had already brought them out. We said no and she went and got them. At that point, we could have skipped it. The queso wasn't great and tastes like melted American cheese with some peppers in it. Not at the same level as the other food. Restaurant is noisy, and the walls and ceiling don't help dampen it much. Would come again if in the area, just would make sure to budget more time and check on the appetizer early!
