Travel Tip, If you find your self traveling from Farmington north on Hwy 67 and like a great rest stop and a great, fabulous semi small but very nice and clean and friendlies servers ever, you need to dial in THE COUNTRY CAFE at 2561 US Hwy 67, Fetus, Mo. (I believe) they have a huge choices of all food taste and the home baked pies are to stay at the pie stand an drull and they taste even better. The one thing we get everytime we com through North and or South is the fried chicken dinners or stop and or call it in and pick it up. But you need to call soon as you know you time table because they sometime sell out, along with mashed potatoes veggie, ie corn, beans ect. I've been allover this country and bar ery few it's the best chicken or any I have ever had (sorry Mom, Grandma). I've lived here for 16 years. I don't eat out a lot because I'm pretty critical of restaurant food. My family of 3 had breakfast. The ambiance was typical local cafe. Nothing great but it was clean. The service was great and our server was really nice. Food however was questionable. My daughter had hash browns with biscuits and gravy. She liked the hash browns but the gravy smelled and had an unnatural shine. I don't believe for a minute that this was made in house. My wife had scrambled eggs she said was fine. I had french toast, eggs basted and bacon. Eggs were prepared well. I'm curious if the french toast was made at the restaurant but it was okay. My biggest complaint would have been the orange juice. I'd been craving a big glass of orange juice but this didn't even look like orange juice. It honestly looked like Tang or some other orange breakfast drink. Either way it wasn't good. read more

The country Cafe is a casual dress restaurant serving good country cooking. A wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and early dinner options. Large patronage of locals. You need to be there by 3pm as they are not open during normal dinner hours. No matter how busy they are, service is fast. Daily "specials" though Monday liver and onions is my favorite. Their Ruben sandwich is the best I have found in the state. I usually eat there once a week. Their cod dinner is very good. All their breakfast meals are good. I am fond of the big breakfast or their homemade biscuits and gravy, but they have numerous options. They have a wide variety of sides but their beets, cold slaw, cucumber salad, Okra, or fries are great side options. Their fried mushrooms are very good. Bread choices are dinner roll white, wheat and rye bread, and their rye bread is my favorite! Their pies and cheese cakes are special. I had a strawberry and rhubarb piece of pie the other day that was best I've had in years. They normally have a wide selection, that runs $4.50 a slice. Their pie varieties vary, depending on the season. Breakfasts and sandwiches are in the 10$ range Dinners are in the 12$ range. If you are looking for fancy, go somewhere else, but if your looking for good healthy country food reasonably priced and decent quantities this is a very good choice. Stopped in for breakfast on a trip down south from St. Louis area. Service was excellent, food was executed well. The inside is nothing fancy but the prices are very reasonable for the portions that you get. Special shout out for the biscuits and gravy . Went here after a weekend hike at St. Francois State Park. I've been there twice now and it's everything you would hope for from a place name "The Country Cafe." The service was great. Friendly and attentive wait staff. I had a delicious pile of fried catfish with fried okra. I saw a lot of people having the open faced roast beef and fried chicken. Both looked good. Every plate I saw had generous portions. I also had breakfast here early in the fall with my son, which was basic but really good. Decent hash browns, omelets and eggs. My hunch is the biscuits and gravy are also worth a try. Really, there are a lot of things in the menu I'd like to try. So I'll be back. read more

Home cooked goodness! Growing up in south east Kansas, for whatever reason there was a fight for the best chicken restaurants. In a small town, with 3 really really good options. Not the case in st Louis, or at least I'm not aware of them. If you like fried chicken, then make a trip here. Fantastic! Sides are just as good and truly have that homemade, thanksgiving at grandma's taste. It has a country small town diner feel, very casual and the best part. A display of homemade pies! Found this little place traveling from Johnson shut ins to home. Decided to peruse yelp and see what was around. Possibly the best decision we made all weekend! It's a little place in a strip mall with a pool store. We made it before the church crowd so the wait wasn't too bad. All meals start with homemade yeasty dinner rolls and apple butter. Fresh fried chicken and hand rolled chicken and dumplings. Just amazing !!!! The homemade sides were obviously made today and in just the right proportion to the meal. Great service, great food. I had an open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. The food was fresh, and it came in less than 5 minutes of ordering. The beef was top notch compared to most places. Normally you get some fatty roast beef with this meal. Not here. The toast and mashed potatoes were great as well. I also had a house salad. I love that we have never had a bad meal here. Today the meatloaf was perfect, just like home. The stewed tomatoes complemented the meal and the service is always great. The staff here is primarily mature friendly people ...not to take anything from the youngsters of course. Best thing about the Country Cafe is that it is now smoke free. Best thing they ever did. They have a large menu to choose from, and the servers are friendly and serve up your meals with a smile and a little bit of home.. everything is very affordable and they also have daily specials in addition to what is on the menu. be forewarned, the Sunday church crowd will fill the place quickly, so if your willing to wait, then a weekend visit is fine, personally I prefer eating there during the week early in the day to avoid the crowds... The chicken here was just as good as it gets! Freshly made at the time you order, it came out piping hot and delicious. The sides that came with the dinner were nothing fancy. Portions of everything very generous. The waitress brought out a hot roll with apple butter while we waited for the chicken to cook. We tried this local small town place tonight. We had a great Waitress she was funny and got our order our fast. Checked on us a lot making sure we had what we needed. We got the double cheese burger. Which was big and made with real ground fresh meat, with side of fries. House salad. I had the Mushroom and Swiss chicken sandwich with onion rings. Cherry pie. Everything was great.
