Blind Hen side dish, a combination of green beans, bacon, carrots, apples and onions, drizzled with a sweet dressing. - A bowl of cooked green beans with carrots, potatoes, and onions is placed on a car seat tray, with a foam container and foil wrapping nearby.

Stopped into this place for the first time after wanting to try it for quite a while. This is in a touristy area in Hermann, so during the off-season (Christmas time through March 1.) some businesses shut down or abbreviate their hours, so be sure to call or check to see if they're open during the off-season. My wife and I both got a beef and lamb gyro On pita bread. It came out piping hot and was delicious with lettuce, tomato and tzatziki sauce. It comes with one side and we chose a side dish that they call "blind hen".It is a mixture of green beans, onions, bacon, carrots and apples in a sweet type dressing. It was pretty good as well. The Gyro was quite filling and will run you around $13.99, including one side. This is a walk up window type place as you can see the photos, and seating is outside under a covered awning, but our sandwiches were served in a Styrofoam clamshell, so you can always get it to go if it's too hot or cold outside.

This one of the well-known food trucks that travels around the St Louis suburb areas. Cheesesteaks…read morearen't horrible but they're not seasoned well and they're most definitely over-priced. Food is quite greasy and the menu is quite short. Drink options are non-existent. Majority of the time you end up waiting 20+ minutes for your order, so don't expect a quick turnaround. They don't provide any form of decor or seating options (other than your own vehicle).

I think they would do even better than they already are if there was a place to sit. An outside picnic bench or two would work too, even in winter. Personally, I hate eating in my vehicle, and let's face it, cheesesteak sandwiches are not too easy to eat without spilling a but here and there. My wife and I both ordered the mushroom version. All sandwiches come with the basic, grilled onions, peppers, steak meat (or chicken) on a soft sub roll that's perfect for this format. My wife left off the peppers and onions and I left everything one. To deal with eating a large messy sandwich in the car we more or less picked out the insides to control it better and ate about half the bread. We also ordered small tater tots as some of the other people waiting inside raved about them. The funny woman who took our order mentioned that the portions were large and she was correct. The tater tots were the only real disappointment. Oh, there was plenty of them, but they were overcooked and dark with way too much salt on them. We couldn't eat them because of all the salt. That was sad because they were otherwise good. Last, they do not have a soda fountain at the moment and only sell bottled soft drinks. As is often the case when small shops do that they have limited selections and this was the case here too. I personally hate diet coke but it's the easy and lazy choice of small business owners to stock. I hope someday they add a few more diet or low sugar soft drinks like Dr. Pepper Zero, Coke Zero, or Pepsi zero. Nearly any Zero drink flavors are far superior to diet Coke and they don't cost any more to stock them, just a bit more thoughtfulness. This is a good start, clearly, the locals love this place, everyone in line acted like their personal marketing and publicists ensuring we appreciated what we were about to purchase. They also have an eclectic and odd bit of nicknacks and things to buy; wresting themed action heroes, t-shirts, and other oddities. Give them a try but maybe get your drink at the nearby gas stations and find somewhere to sit down so you can enjoy the sandwich. Also, ask them to leave the salt on the side of the tater tots.

Cheese Steaks - The Original

It comes with a side and I chose onion rings. So this was pretty good. It was hot and fresh and the cheese was melty. There was a little too much bread for the amount of meat but everything was tasty and seasoned well. The onion rings were your basic frozen out of a bag. There are a few outdoor seats if you want to eat here. Most people were taking it to-go. The liquor store next door gets a lot of action. Reasonable prices. Ask for extra napkins!

As was the case last time, the food itself was delicious... it definitely handled the cheesesteak craving. I did find it off putting to pay a $.60 up-charge to add on mayo and then another $.60 for lettuce at a sandwich place. When I pointed out their menu indicated mayo specifically had no fee, the lady curtly told me that it did. As last time, the sandwich was very good, though a bit overpriced at $12-$13 per pop - especially if they're charging extra for just dressing their subs with lettuce and mayo. 4 stars for food quality. Minus 1 star for silly monetary practices, here. It's also worth pointing out that their original does Not come with green peppers, as their photo here depicts.
