I am a local member of the St. Louis Model T Ford club, and every summer we have an overnight tout to some destination. This year brought us to Fulton. Our tout chairman was adamant that we dine here. I know why now. It is located in the brick district of town (we loved having our cars lined up on the brick paved streets) Our reservation allowed us to be seated right away and the service was great. They allowed us separate checks event though they were busy. The menu has lots to choos from but make sure to look at the daily specials. I ordered the baked chicken thigh trio on risotto and my husband had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken added. The sweetest waitress recommended the Asiago Alfredo to me but I really wanted steak, and I told her that so she told me to put steak on it because the Alfredo sauce was that good. Grabbed dinner here with my family. We went at 4:30 on a Saturday and it wasn't packed, but wasn't dead either. The place is big and the tables are spaced out. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and the Parmesan artichoke dip to start. The dip was delicious. I would come back just for it! My husband ordered the pork chop and I got the garlic marinara pasta. They are both just ok. The pork chop had a sweet sauce, which I wasn't a huge fan of. And the pasta was VERY tomato-y. Like almost tasted like tomato paste. Beks was so impressive. I went with family/a group of 4, after visiting the (very impressive), Churchill museum in Fulton, MO. (a small town), and much to my surprise and delight; it was absolutely packed! And rightfully so. We ordered 4 different things, and every dish we had was fabulous. I loved my pasta, and they customized my order for me, make it a rose sauce vs. White. I was amazed at the crowds, and the charming, quaint, exuberant vibrancy of the town, which is basically in the middle of nowhere in MO. I'm not one to complain but this is the second time we went to Becks and the food was horrible. The spinach dip is the best but everything else was disgusting!! Service was so slow. My margarita was straight alcohol!! She finally brought boxes for those that wanted them and never brought the check. If you are ever in quaint, small Fulton, Missouri you might actually want to sit down at a nice restaurant. Then make your way over to tiny but cute downtown Fulton and find Beks restaurant before 8:00pm. The food is consistently good, drinks and wine exceptional and service is good depending on who works there at this time. So really there is nothing bad on the menu and the ambiance is above grade for such a tiny town. There is a Brooklyn pizza joint and a Chinese restaurant also serving this little college town right there. They get a passing grade but cater mostly to the College. Beks only needs to expand their menu successfully to achieve a higher grade that 4 stars. read more

We stopped in here on our way to Illinois. It's in the middle of a town straight out of Norman Rockwell's world. Brick streets and buildings dated 1884. The food was great. I ordered the steak salad which had a 4oz fillet and it was cooked a perfect medium-rare. Blue cheese and wonderful tomatoes. Others had burgers and a Tuscan sandwiches. 7 out of our 8 thought it was fantastic. One guy said it was just a burger. In town for the day so I decided to do a quick google search for places to eat in Fulton. Stopped by this place since the ratings seemed so positive. I ordered to-go a black bean burger with sweet potato fries. I specifically asked the hostess what fixings the burger came with, and she told me (lettuce, tomato, pickles on the side). I also mentioned that I didn't want any garlic aioli or horseradish mustard--only ketchup and mustard. My food was ready to go in about 15 minutes which was very nice. The staff were all pleasant when I entered which is always good. I paid for my order and was out the door in minutes. I don't have any complaints on my experience while visiting but I am unhappy about my order accuracy. Normally I always take the time to review my order before I leave since I have specific dietary needs but I figured that a simple burger would be fine. The burger came completely plain, no fixings at all and stacked right next to the burger and fries was that horseradish sauce I specifically said I did not want and cannot have. If I'd had the time to double back I would've allowed them the opportunity to rectify the situation but that was not possible today. The sweet potato fries were fresh and salted. The plain black bean patty was also good and had loads of flavor but I'm sure it would've been even better with all the fixings I'd asked for on it. read more

Ah Bek's...Oh how I have missed you these last 4 years! First let me say that this was always a "go to" for each and every celebration we had while living in this little area of the Midwest. They were the FIRST establishment that reminded me of home/California and 4 years later they did not disappoint. First the food...have never been able to find a spinach/artichoke dip that compares to Bek's. Oooey gooey cheesy and just like I remembered. Their portions for the price are on overload. Menu has not changed much since I was last there but why fix something that is not broke! I am still dreaming of the in-house smoked turkey sandwich piled high and mouthwatering for sure. Bek's burger..always cooked to perfection. Our server recommended the local brewed Crown Valley blackberry cider and now I am on the hunt at home for more. Let's talk about the service...you WILL NOT find a better place for service in the area. The owners take great pride in their little piece of heaven and it shows. One of my favorite places to visit when I'm anywhere near mid-Missouri. The artichoke dip with pita bread is the best I have had in my travels. Go for the art dip, but grab a coffee and any of their baked goods - the yellow cake with buttercream frosting is fantastic! My friend had been here before and wanted to take me there. I liked its casual atmosphere and it's very spacious. At her suggestion, we split an order of sweet potato fries--very generous portion. It came with a side of apple-cider horseradish sauce but that was a little disappointing. I would have never known about the apple cider had it not been explained on the menu and I like a touch more horseradish--it was simply too bland and too close to mayo. When I heard I'd have to spend a day in Fulton for work, I wondered if there would be anything decent to eat for lunch or if I'd be doomed to the typical fast food options that make up most of rural Missouri. Thanks to yelp I heard about Beks, and I've got to say, Fulton has a real gem on their hands. First of all, Beks is in the adorable historic district near the town square. The streets are paved with red brick and the old buildings are painted beautifully. Beks itself is quite nice inside. It strikes a balance between old and newly trendy. The ceilings are high and pressed tin, while the floors are well worn hardwood. The walls are adorned with art (for sale?). The lunch menu has a nice selection of salads and sandwiches, as well as an extensive wine and beer list. I had one of the specials, a steak gyro with tzatziki and grilled asparagus on the side. The sandwich was delicious. The steak was tender and there was a lot of it! The asparagus was grilled well, still crisp but fully cooked. I was quite stuffed by the end of the meal. My only complaint would be that the portion of asparagus was skimpy, considering that it cost $2 extra. On the other hand, the sandwich was huge, so it's not like I left hungry. Beks also has a variety of desserts, but I was too full to even attempt it. If you find yourself in Fulton, this restaurant is not to be missed. read more
