I love their Asiago Alfredo when the right cook is there...it's definitely a hit and miss!! But when it's a HIT

When I heard I'd have to spend a day in Fulton for work, I wondered if there would be anything decent to eat for lunch or if I'd be doomed to the typical fast food options that make up most of rural Missouri. Thanks to yelp I heard about Beks, and I've got to say, Fulton has a real gem on their hands. First of all, Beks is in the adorable historic district near the town square. The streets are paved with red brick and the old buildings are painted beautifully. Beks itself is quite nice inside. It strikes a balance between old and newly trendy. The ceilings are high and pressed tin, while the floors are well worn hardwood. The walls are adorned with art (for sale?). The lunch menu has a nice selection of salads and sandwiches, as well as an extensive wine and beer list. I had one of the specials, a steak gyro with tzatziki and grilled asparagus on the side. The sandwich was delicious. The steak was tender and there was a lot of it! The asparagus was grilled well, still crisp but fully cooked. I was quite stuffed by the end of the meal. My only complaint would be that the portion of asparagus was skimpy, considering that it cost $2 extra. On the other hand, the sandwich was huge, so it's not like I left hungry. Beks also has a variety of desserts, but I was too full to even attempt it. If you find yourself in Fulton, this restaurant is not to be missed. read more

As a local, this is the place I would recommend to ANYONE visiting the area. The atmosphere is nice-casual, but definitely can be dressed up for a nice date night. They're known for their parm artichoke dip, but their bacon wrapped jalepenos are another go-to for an appetizer. Their steaks are always wonderfully cooked, and their salads are interesting and delicious. My favorite item has always been the chipotle chicken sandwich with chips and two dipping sauces. So simple, but the best chicken sandwich, period. I'd really eat anything on their menu and be perfectly happy though, including their specials (always creative, changing, and excellent). Make sure to check out what drinks they have, they change often and the servers are usually very knowledgeable and can help guide you to what you like. Finally, every dessert I've ever gotten here has been fantastic. Get something to go if you don't have room, because it's worth it. read more

So appreciative of Beks and this rare find in a small charming place I grew up called Fulton. Since moving back home from living in Houston,TX for 30+ years where there was an abundance of esteemed chefs and restaurants around every corner, I can't believe Fulton has this gem in Beks. I had "surf and turf" tonight. Don't usually eat out for dinner during the week, but after a long day and seeing this as a special for only $24...I just had to try it. The beef tenderloin was some of the most tender and flavorful I've ever had and cooked to perfection. The lobster crab cake was Delish and zucchini and mash delightful. Super impressed with owners Garry and Rebekah Vaught and their head Chef Danny. They always have such creative menus. Also kudos to the seasoned waitress, Mandy Bowlds who serves with a smile and ever so efficient. Along with the other staff I usually see during the lunch shift so a shout out to Heather, Kayla, Garrett, Logan, Morgan, Jessica, and upfront Kaley, Taylor, Paul, Betsy Cravens and all the others and sorry as I know I missed some names. Always consistent outstanding service and love the vibe of this place. Fun soft jazz music playing in the background and unique artwork on the walls peppered in with rare antique pieces around the two rooms with a few pieces showing Garry's love of mushrooms/ morels decor. Great historic surroundings with a pirate theme, got the special after we ordered but overall well worth a drive to Fulton, was 30 minutes for us but you won't regret it! Beks is great for a meal out with friends, a place to take a little break, or for a special occasion. We had our rehearsal dinner at Beks and they did such a fantastic job with everything! The food was delicious, the way they set up the area on the 3rd floor was beautiful, and everyone had a great time. They really made the whole process of organizing the dinner really fun and easy. I would recommend Beks to anyone who is looking for a place to have a special event. First off I gave this 3 stars because A) Yelp said this was a vegan / vegan friendly restaurant B) I called and asked TWICE that they had food with no animal products and was told yes, once arrived and before being seated I asked the to please be sure before we sat down and she said yes . I finally insisted and asked why there was only meat / animal products . she just said "yes we should have vegan food - then admitted she did not know what that meant ) So the manager came out and was very helpful and cleared up although they have one veggie(bean) burger there is cross contamination and pointed out another place that might be okay for us . I rarely give out 2 star reviews, but there really was no excuse for the quality of food we got at Bek's. First, I probably would have had lower expectations for a restaurant in Fulton if I hadn't been told by the owners of the B&B where we were staying that Bek's was one of 3 places in town with a real chef running the kitchen. Everything started out good. The decor is trendy and hip...completely different than everything else we saw in downtown Fulton. We were seated immediately at a nice table near the entrance with a good view of everything. Our waitress was adequate, not great. She just didn't seem on top of everything. Which was confirmed as we watched everyone scramble at the large table next to us a bit later in the evening because a credit card got lost between the time when the waitress took it and when she tried to return it to the table. The menu looked good. Several choices appealed to me. Then came the massive letdown. The food arrived almost cold. Not good when you order a steak. I ordered a ribeye...not a steak I normally order but they didn't have a strip or sirloin, and the filet was wrapped in bacon which I didn't want. I like the ribeye steak sandwiches that I've had in the past. This steak, however was fatty and cold. I ordered asparagus as my side, the veggie of the day. They were way overcooked and also cold. My date ordered a pork chop and asparagus. I got twice as much asparagus as he did...which didn't really matter since neither of us ate it. He didn't like his chop at all. Neither of our plates would pass the chef presentation beginner class at culinary school. We were seriously disappointed. If you are in Fulton, pick another restaurant. read more

I don't always write reviews for restaurants... but when I do, it's usually because my experience was awesome or terrible... thankfully I had an amazing experience at Beks (did you feel the suspense?!)! Beks has a great atmosphere- it's dim, but has a cool gastropub feel. They have a wide variety of beer, wine, and mixed drinks. I got a bottled oatmeal stout that was very flavorful and smooth- it went perfect with my entree. I ordered the teriyaki salmon salad with poppyseed dressing. The salmon was cooked at perfectly medium-rare, so it was tender at the middle, but still flaked off. The teriyaki sauce burned a little bit on the salmon, but it added great sweet, savory, charred flavor to the salmon. There were also some roasted red peppers and asparagus on the salad. MMmmmmm. Finally, the staff is courteous and attentive. If I were not just passing through Fulton, I would definitely eat here more! read more

Me and my old lady ate here the other night. Food was pretty good. The appetizer of artichoke dip was good, so was the chicken tortilla soup. My old lady got the chicken spicy pasta or something, not bad, had pasta like it before. Nothing new. I got the salmon. Salmon alone got most of the points for me.. Very impressed with it. Beks is hands-down my favorite place to eat in Fulton. Located in the historic Downtown District, it offers an unexpected and unique dining experience for patrons of mid-Missouri. I've worked in Fulton for six years now and have eaten at Beks many times for lunch as well as a baby shower, dinner, and a catered workplace event. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The building itself is an older brick building, and the inside decor is trendy. The combination of old and trendy gives it an eclectic charm. There is a lower- and upper-level dining area. They have recently renovated to add more space to the lower-level. The food is great! I typically order one of their croissant sandwiches or a salad for lunch. For appetizers, Bacon-Wrapped Jalepenos and Artichoke Dip are always fantastic. If you like beer, it seems they have quite a variety to choose from and a nice selection of wine as well. When we used the catering service we ordered Chicken Marsala off of the Special Events Menu, along with Spicy Hummus and toasted pita chips. Everyone enjoyed it. Beks is a very cool restaurant hidden away in downtown Fulton, which is itself a pretty charming little spot. We stopped in on our way to the Lake a couple of weeks ago (tip, take maybe the third exit off 54, not the first one, especially if you're in a hurry). This is a pretty spacious place that no doubt serves as a special occasion restaurant for the region. At least we didn't see any other place that seemed this upscale in town. The décor is very nice with a mix of antiques and contemporary art (some very good, some pretty awful, but all fun to check out). We picked a couple of wines from their by-the-glass list and they were both great, which is kind of rare for us, so kudos to whoever put together the list. For dinner, we had a steak salad and a blackened trout special. Both were pretty good; well seasoned, but a couple of bites of fish were a little fishy, which usually doesn't happen with trout, at least for me. For dessert we had turtle cheesecake and it was exceptionally delicious and creamy. It was obviously homemade and maybe the best cheesecake I've every had, which is a pretty big deal for me. Stopped in earlier this afternoon for lunch. Had the Beks burger which is ground brisket with smoked Gouda and caramelized onions. Delicious. My coworker had the chicken sandwich with pesto and loved it. We liked it so much we came back for dinner. My coworker for the chicken drumstick with risotto and it was amazing. Some of the best risotto I have ever had. They had a special Thursday night of a smoked pork steak and it was incredible! All the staff are great and the owner is a really great guy. We have to leave town tomorrow but will be going back for lunch, and definitely returning next year when we come back for work! read more

There really isn't a better place to enjoy a nice meal in Fulton than Beks. I went to college at William Woods, so I love to come here when I'm back in town for a visit. You can't go wrong with the parmesan artichoke dip! I've never had better anywhere. The steak salad is also very good. Most recently, my boyfriend and I were in town for alumni weekend and I was surprised we were able to get a table during lunch on Saturday. We came right before the rush but opted to sit at the bar so larger parties could sit at the tables. We had great service! I often find that sitting at the bar gets better service than tables which seemed to be true here. Beks has a large wine selection and pretty decent beer selection as well. I really wish this place would come to OKC! Fulton is lucky to have such a fantastic restaurant. First, I was diggin' on the atmosphere. The staff were very polite and attentive and I never had an empty beer glass, which was impressive because it appeared that everyone in Fulton was in the restaurant. I started off with the Parmesan artichoke dip appetizer and let me tell ya...that dip is some of the realest in the game! Perfect consistency, great flavor, and served with some delicious pita bread. Honestly, I could have made a meal out of the dip alone. However, I wanted to see what else Beks had to offer so I decided to have the Waldorf chicken salad sandwich, which was chicken salad with red and green apples, toasted nuts and served on a croissant. I don't know about you, but I prefer all of my sandwiches to be on croissants so I was ecstatic to see that the Waldorf was served on a croissant. The sandwich itself was fantastic and I really enjoyed the addition of the red and green apples. I also had ordered a side of coleslaw and enjoyed it as well. My overall impression of the food was that it tasted extremely fresh. Finally, the bar. It's a nice little bar stocked with liquor, wines (some local) and beer (some local). Being the beer snob that I am, I had a couple of their local brews and was quite impressed. It was also nice to have a bartender that could answer a few questions about the beer. Excellent meal tonight! They were extremely busy, but the staff was experienced and the food and service were excellent! Logan was our waiter- funny, friendly and efficient! We started with our favorite appetizer- a generous serving of sweet potato fries with a creamy horseradish sauce. Husband ordered the "Bek's"burger, cooked perfectly, juicy and medium with smoked Gouda cheese and caramelized onions. Served with fresh thin green beans and a side salad. I had the Caesar salad topped with tender seasoned salmon that flaked apart with the slightest touch of my fork and a side of fresh made warm sour dough bread served with pats of real butter. Logan checked on us frequently, not so much to bother, but often enough to refill wine, coffee and water. We made the 45 minute drive from home for a nice meal and their famous carrot cake. Since they were so busy we worried that they would run out of carrot cake, but Logan reassured us that they Never run out of it!!!! We happened to end up in Fulton for dinner on a Friday night, and the Yelp reviews looked solid enough to try Beks. I will say this first off - it's a nice place to sit - high ceilings, wood floors, with high top tables and booths adding interest as well. As for the food, my boyfriend and I both enjoyed our meals. We started with the spicy hummus, which wasn't too spicy, but had a nice chipotle flavor to it. He had the chipotle chicken pasta and enjoyed it very much, while I had the steak salad. My lettuce was crisp and fresh and the balsamic vinaigrette tasted homemade. The portions were good for the price and we both enjoyed our entrees. The warm sourdough boule was delicious, too. The service was a little weird. The waiter just left the specials card on the table with us instead of taking the time to explain each dish, plus he could have refilled the water glasses more. The most mouth watering bacon wrapped filet I have ever had! The salad was piled high and had home made croutons. The pork chop was juicy and absolutely amazing. Such a great place for lunch! We stopped in after visiting the National Churchill Museum, at the recommendation of the young woman who checked us out at the gift shop. Lovely space, with exposed brick, lots of natural light, and artwork from local artists on the walls. We started with a Caesar salad that my daughter and I shared. Outstanding! Crisp greens, room temp Pecorino-Romano, crispy croutons, and just right, house made dressing. You can taste the anchovies, but you don't feel like you've licked the can. Next came fried dill pickles with ranch. Generous portion, and very good with ranch on the side. We both had Bek's burger as the entree. What do you say about a medium rare burger cooker perfectly (pink but cooked!) Topped with caramelized onions and smoked Gouda, on a Brioche bun? Perfection! Skinny fries like SteaknShake serves (not too skinny, still taste like fries!) on the side and dill pickle planks complete the plate. We want to visit the museum again with my husband; we will be stopping in again for lunch! read more
