Lastly, the rings were thicc and GBD. Unfortunately, we sat in traffic for 3 hrs from OC, when it normally takes 1 1/2 hrs: We were really hungry, and Hodads met our needs. Regarding the ambiance, its a bit grunge but np for me. The name has a whole lot of nostalgia in SD. The service was friendly & warm. Our food came out quickly. I ordered a latte and neglected to tell them it was for here so I was given a paper cup, but they give real cups if you ask. The latte was good, and my friend bought a kitchen sink type cookie with chocolate, coconut, and macadamia nuts. It was warm and gooey good! Another friend tried the gelato and said it was very good. There are a few tables inside and tables out in front outside. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful San Diego weather. The decor and tables definitely gives you an old school Italian neighborhood vibe with Italian markets right next door. If I am in the neighborhood again, I would definitely come back here to try the gelato and/or a piece of an excellent looking lemon pie bar I spotted.

They tasted very freshly cooked just as they would as if I had cooked them myself at home. I was there about 1245 on a Monday and there were a few people there and they had some takeout orders so my order took about 10 minutes before I could walk out the door with it. They had a nice condiment bar where you could pick out some yogurt with dill sauce and then they're famous garlic yogurt sauce, as well as a jalapeño sauce And another spicy hot one that I would never try. When I got back to the jury room to eat my meal, I saw that there was a nice quantity of the fresh salad and the grilled vegetables but the meat was piled high! We substituted one of our coleslaw for potato salad, and one of our fries for onion rings. We definitely will continue doing so because it is nice to try out so many different dishes! As always, order the fries well-done for nice crispy fries. It's still on our to-do list to try the chicken parmesan since we've heard so many good things about it, but I really do like my Must Order dishes (listed below). Also ordered their basket of thinly sliced crisp hot onions rings, so good including a really good sauce with a slight kick. My daughter ordered the shrimp cowboy sandwich, rhe bread was so soft, yum. Everything was freshly made and hot when it arrived, the way I like it. Not salty, ehixh is fabulous.
