Since my wife says that she's not as hungry we got their watermelon fruit medium sized fruit salad this time. The fruit salad always comes well made. Just the way that I like it! They make them reasonably fast never slouching on quality or ingredients. It's usually pretty quiet unless there's a larger crowd with kids. I'll always make this my go to for the fruit salad. So overpriced and mid service! Do not recommend. I paid $16 for their largest size of fresas con crema (they had like 5 size options) and believe it or not, that was the standard size for fresas con crema where I'm originally from (Palo Alto) in all places like this! And to be honest, I wouldn't even consider that a large, it was more like a medium. The service was so mediocre, and the fresas con crema had this very peculiar taste, not smooth and creamy. I also added coconut shavings for $1.25 extra and he just sprinkled very little of it. (Coconut shavings has always been included in all the fresas con crema ive ever gotten from different places) and the granola was the cheapest one. Please listen to the bad reviews and don't risk coming here! I ordered the largest size of fresas con crema which came out to $16, the granola was so basic, and the condensed milk and yogurt did not have a good taste. Upon receiving my order I realized that the fresas con crema I order back home only comes in one size and is about $10 o which was the same size of what I just paid $16 for. Smoothies here aren't always the best. One day it's good and good day it's not. I understand they use fresh fruit so it might taste different but it shouldn't be completely different where you see the contrast like night and day. I also ordered their corn in a cup without picante since I can't handle spicy. I don't understand how they could have put this "soup" together, closed it up, put it in a bag and gave it to me. I've had elote and corn in a cup for over 15 years. I don't know what they gave me but it didn't taste right. I had to dispose it without trying more than 1-2 spoons of it just because I was afraid of a stomache. Regarding their COVID-19 protocol, everyone is in masks and have gloves, they have sectioned off their shop so it is currently take out or delivery only. But kinda stopped going after an employee yelled at me for thinking I was taking a pic of her. I tried explaining to her that I was just playing "Pokémon" but she kept on being rude even after I told her. The second time I tried talking to her she got all defensive. Okay so two years later and I am still a regular! This time I'm writing this review married, five months pregnant and hardly ever leaving the house (no) thanks to COVID-19. Naturally Postmates has been my BFF, so you best believe how happy I was to see my favorite fruteria on Postmates! I have a few allergies and being pregnant, there are additional foods I'm avoiding ontop of that. So I always have to use the special instructions...and we all know 95% restaurants on Postmates don't read it. But nope, not Fruitilandia! They ALWAYS get my Postmates order down to THE T. Nearly a year in a pandemic and ordering, you would think they would have slipped at least once. I also hate being that person who places an order minutes before a restaurant stops accepting orders, but I couldn't help it. I took a very long involuntary preggo nap and was too lazy to make dinner. They ALWAYS accept my order!! Most restaurants will cancel because... I get it (sometimes lol), who wants to be making an order before closing. The fact they accepted my order and I opened my food up to see all the instructions were followed, I got emotional and wanted to cry from the appreciation of this business (queue preggo hormones). My previous review was for the old location a few blocks from my house. I've been to the new location several times. The place looks a lot cleaner than before and they have new menus on the wall. The prices did increase since the old location. One thing that did not change is how tasty it is! I still order the fruit waters. They're absolutely refreshing. The fruits are still sweet and fresh. Service is also still friendly and quick. Although there's a new fruit location in place of the old Frutilandia. One thing it can't top is the fruit water. Mango and watermelon are always favorites among me, my friends and family. I love the small bits of fruit in it :) read more

This place is great! I love there fruit salads, tortas, aguas frescas etc... The reason why I'm giving it a 3 star is due to their lack of customer service. The guys are nice, but the ladies are not. They don't smile and just don't seem to care about working there. There is one girl in particular who just has a terrible attitude. She wears heavy make up and when I smiled at her trying to break the awkward tension she kept giving me the nasty look. Y'all need to do better. Train your employees to do better. read more

I've been coming to Frutilandia since it opened it's doors in the heart of City Heights. The tostilocos are great, very well prepared, and include everything you'd like in them. I've had the escamocha with everything, flavors are amazing, prepared to please the client. The fruit salads are big, the fruit is in it's best condition, flavorful, and presented very well. I've also tried their aguas and juices and I can honestly say I've never been disappointed. I worked across the street and it's very affordable so I was going there for lunch sometimes. I highly recommended, I'm a customer for life. The staff is friendly, bilingual, and very ready to serve you. O! I have driven by before, curious to know if it will be like a fruteria in Mexico sure enough it was. The have pico de gallo (fruit with cajun pepper and lemon by the way that is a Mexican thing) Ensalada de fruta with all sort of fruits, cottage cheese, granola, and honey on top. Also smoothies, fruit waters, and liquados. One of their specialties is escamochas. I thought escamochas were fruit ice shavings but they are not. To my surprise they put a bunch of different fruits in a big container diced finely with the knife, poured in a cup then they put some condensed milk (lechera), sliced almonds, granola, shredded coconut, and make a couple layers of this. OMG I could die for this! This could be a snack place or a lunch place. I also saw some people ordering tostadas de ceviche. I will have to yelp their ceviche some time. There should be a frutilandia in every neighborhood. If there was one within walking distance of my house, I would be there every day. Instead, I have to drive a few miles but I am still there at least once every couple of weeks. Frutilandia is a little fruit shop that serves fruit bowls, ceviche, aguas frescas (fruit water) smoothies, gelato, and randomly hot cheetos covered in nacho cheese (sounds healthy right?) My favorite things to get are the fruit salads, which come in 3 sizes: small, medium, and large. Think of it as a small would be a single serving, a medium for 2-3 people, and if you're getting a large you can probably feed a family of 4. The fruit choices are amazing, and I always go straight for the tropical salads: watermelon, strawberries, mango, pineapple, papaya, and coconut chunks. The fruit is so sweet and perfectly ripe, and I don't have to skin it or chop it up. Brilliant. I usually get a medium, which is around $5-6 dollars. It comes with granola, honey, yogurt, or cottage cheese, but I always like mine plain. If I want to get really decadent I'll order a side of the sweet cream to dunk it in (it tastes like frosting.) Other greatest hits: Their ceviche is no joke, $1.25 for a generous serving, plus tostada shells. Also, their aguas frescas are the stuff dreams are made of...try a strawberry and you'll be addicted in no time. One time I accidentally ordered a large and I was face to face with about 40 oz of sweet strawberry water. Cash only, no ATM on site, so come prepared. Don't be intimidated by the spanish words on the menu, they do speak english. This place is amazing, I hope it's around forever. read more

Maybe it's from the fruity sugar rush, but the employees/staff are very nice and upbeat, without the superficial hipster peppiness you might find at other fruity, juice places in a 10 mile radius. If you have more than 3 people with you, definitely get the large fruit bowl/salad to share! The portion is generous and amongst us three women, we only finished half of the portion and had to take the rest to go. It comes with all the fruits listed on the menu (too many to count). Was craving for a fruit salad and it was nearby so I stopped in. They had a menu with pictures that was very easy to understand unlike some Mexican fruit shops that have mostly Spanish writing. I ordered a SMALL PICO DE GALLO ($4.29) which had various kinds of fruits topped with lemon juice and chili powder. The small size was more than enough for me and the lady packed my box to the brim, so much that she couldn't close the box, lol. This place was awesome. Ever since they moved to the new location prices went up and the quality of the menu items has gone down. Recently they added the Acai bowl to their menu. And I have to say that for the price it's a pretty good size amount of acai. They give you the option of what kind of toppings you would like on it and very generous with them as well. But overall the quality of the acai you can tell is not up to par. It tastes really bland and flavorless. It almost tastes as if it is not acai but rather blueberries made to look like acai. I've had plenty others and none taste as badly as this one was. I went to not complain but let the manager and the owner who was also present, that their product was not satisfying. All I got was I can add some honey to it but that's about it and they do not offer refunds or exchanges. That's just rediculous. I'm sure that other places treat their customers a lot better and will go out of their ways to accommodate the customer. Even if it means remaking the product or offering an alternative product because they can't give a good product out. All in all I really hope they take my comments and try to change something because I am pretty sure I'm not the only one that has had a bad review on their acai bowl.
