Chili oil next to store-brand one for comparison
    Alex S.

Have you tried the chili oil from this place? It's out of this world!!! I recently discovered the wonderful world of chili oils. I tried the mass-produced gateway chili oil that you can easily find in the grocery stores but the one that you find here is homemade by a local lady. It's tasty, it's spicy, it's fresh! Try it for yourself. It is pricey; a small jar (see picture for comparison) costs $7.50 but it's money well spent!

Really great selection of fresh produce plus snacks, nuts, sauces, dressings as well as firewood. Super nice people. Little gem. Definitely recommend.

My husband and I LOVE going here to pick up our produce. Everything is so fresh and reasonably priced. This bounty you see in the photo - only $31.00 for everything! That would've so much more at like, Sprouts or Trader Joe's. AND, if you hate TJ's overuse of plastic packaging as much as I do and are looking for a place that just has everything out in the open to pick from, The Fruitstand will not disappoint. Worth going to if you live in mid-city SD and want to get a Costco run in at the same time, since they're close to each other on Morena.

Tucked away between some comercial buildings this a hidden gem! I love supporting the local businesses! They had everything from different local Jared sauces, salad dressings, honey, dried fruits and Loya of other amazing finds. If you are looking for fire wood in bulk this is the place to be! I found everything I needed and the prices were great! Nothing like finding a hidden gem without traveling far to get local produce or having to wait for the next farmers market. Looking forward for my next grocery run!

    all for only $17!!

Found this place on yelp since I've been looking for a produce stand! Tucked away near Costco on Morena. Super affordable and a great selection! Very natural and they have a selection of artisanal food products as well. The woman at the register was super nice. Definitely recommend.

    Perfect peaches!

I absolutely recommend this business! I got such good fruits and vegetables there on Wednesday. Some of the juiciest peaches I've ever eaten and the creamiest avocados. The people working there were so helpful, and I will definitely be returning.

Found this place on a whim and it's cool as hell, needed some fire wood for my party stopped there and we got a wheel barrels worth for 25 dollars. We stepped inside and they had treats for everyone they had jerky, dried fruit, salsa, chips, nuts and fruits and vegetables. This is a one stop shop for snacks good and bad.

Other than its sister store, Iowa Meat Farms, Tip Top Meats in Carlsbad (yes, they have returned), and the Wise Ox, also in Carlsbad, there are hardly any real butcher shops around. But these guys know what they are doing. Try their burgers and meatloaf. They are easy to cook at home. Try their steaks. You can get a legitimately excellent steak here for a fraction of what you would pay at a steakhouse and it will be BETTER than the steakhouse version. Make sure you ask the counter guys to season it for you before they wrap it up. Try their freshly-made sandwiches. Make sure you try their beans behind the deli counter. Their pimento dip in the refrigerated area is legendary and more addictive than crack (or so I have read). They have interesting sodas, craft beers, different mustards, El Indio chips, fresh breads, and a small but very well-curated wine selection. Is there anything they do not do well here? "No," is the answer to that question. They do everything well here. They have their own parking lot but it fills up quickly. There is not much other parking in the area. In the past, I have walked several blocks away in the residential neighborhood to get to the store when there is no parking available. And it was worth it.

This what was advertised and this is what I got. GOOD, but looks nothing like it's advertised.read more

Farmers' markets bring me absolute joy and this is one of the very best we've been to! It's huge…read moreand spacious, organized and there were so many vendors around! From delicious food, to fresh produce, to the most gorgeous and vibrant flowers, to beautiful pottery, to unique clothes... you name it, they have it there! Make sure to come early as parking can be a bit tricky, especially if you want to park closer to the farmers' market. Once you get parked though, everything is a breeze. They even have tables and chairs around for people to eat at. There's also a playground for families who have little ones! I could never go to a farmers' market and leave without fresh flowers, so of course I had to pick up some from Hidalgo Flowers. They always have the most colorful and stunning arrangements, and for a decent price too. This time, I got a bunch with the prettiest sunflowers. We also picked up the sweetest and reddest strawberries from this one vendor. I highly regret not getting their name, but I will definitely be on the hunt for them the minute we go back. We got a cup of strawberries with some dark chocolate sauce from Strawberries and Chocolate. That was sooo good! We devoured it so quickly, we didn't even get to take a picture of it. One of the standouts for me was the Pork Sisig Rice from Baryo Eats. It was AHHHHMAZING!! It's the best kind of pork sisig that I love to eat--the taste was so good and nostalgic, it took me back to my college days back in the Philippines! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We also got some Paella from Driana Catering/Taste of Spain. It was so flavorful and the rice was cooked to perfection. We were just sad they ran out of shrimp by the time we got some, so we were left with chicken only. We got some goodies from It's Cafe Thai as well--Milk Tea with Boba, Taro Thai Coffee, and the Mango Sticky Rice. All of them had just the right amount of sweetness and hit the spot for us. Lastly, we had some of the watermelon and the cucumber lemonade refreshers, and the chicken and pork tamales from Gourmet Tamales. They were so good, we even took some home for later! Overall, I'm already looking forward to the next Sunday we can stop by this farmers' market!

Stars off for parking and crowds, but we lucked out on great parking and were on the way out when things were getting peak crazy. Now - all my treasures. There was a bread guy. Great breads. Focaccia. Banana bread. Sourdough. Looked beautiful, but unassuming. The deliciousness level - wow! Broccolini, squash, carrots, celery, onion. Then, the berries! Look and try. You'll know the ones you want. Oceanside? Carlsbad? I am on strike as of now and will be hard pressed to make due with a Driscolls berry. Oh - and this magical little orange. I should have bought 5 pounds. I drank fresh OJ while we were there. 11/10. I'm so happy that after an awesome vacation of vacation dates and treats we get to keep it going with some lighter meals. I made tuna salad with celery and onions. Well have grilled veg with dinner. Magical berries all day. The special grilled cheese with gruyere, honey, mustard and all the other little meals il weave my Ja Jolla open air marked finds - incredible. Then, all the things I didn't buy because they wouldn't have survived in the car. Salad. Flowers. Tomatoes. All beautiful.

Don't let its size fool you. The owners of each both are all friendly and with the less crowds you get more time to shop and learn out what they are offering. Farmers markets are where I prefer getting my eggs. Plus the fruits are always so much sweeter. I love also n being able to try new varieties typically harder to find in the large chain grocery stores. On this trip I was delighted with Simone's vegan Caesar dip which a staple while I was snacking on veggies and over my salad. I have also enjoyed it on my wraps. I also loved that they have made a program where if you return the jar they give you a discount on your next purchase. Another favorite is Majestic Sprouted Hummus specifically Cilantro Jalapeño Í have used in so many dishes and wish they sold larger tubs of it. All the fresh veggies were used to feed the sole and love that it's later in the evening. I did cut it close arriving close to closing so I didn't have much time to shop around.
