I've been coming to this little market for at least 14 years I used to live right around the corner so it was handy if I had to grab something in a pinch. I wanted some oranges today I decided to go get them from Leon because one orange nowadays at Vons or Ralph's is like 2 to $3 Anyway I noticed they had some organics which was nice because I don't think they have that before or else I never noticed it anyway I got container of organic tomatoes and a big bag of oranges for like $5 and I'm like holy shit that's a great deal just telling the clerk you can't even get an orange for $2 at Vons and a container of those organic tomatoes are minimum $5 I would give it five stars but there's just a very limited selection and some of the produce isn't the best but that's what you get when you're in a little hole on the wall grocery in your neighborhood. read more

Leon Produce - All these oranges and organic tomatoes only cost me $5 I can't pay $2 just for one orange at vons so great deal - Fruits & Veggies Near Me - San Diego, California

I love that this market is in the North Park / University Heights neighborhood. They carry a good range of fresh produce and pantry staples--including alternative milks and soyrizo for any folks like myself who lessen their dairy and meat intake. They've saved me from having to make another trip to the grocery store many times, and price are pretty decent. The folks that have helped me out are always friendly! read more

This a little store next to Senor Mango. It has different type on food and drink, and has fresh produce. So why would a little store get 4 stars, because the drinks are cold as ice. The best thing about little stores like this is if the drinks you want to purchase are cold, and there were really cold. Also, the fresh deserts and really good. read more

I moved here from LA where little stores like this are a dime a dozen. Not the case in SD! After searching and searching, I finally found my tiendita! I almost cried tears of joy, leaving this place. Thanks, Leon produce. read more

Love this little hidden gem, it's perfect for when you are missing a couple things for dinner and need to make a quick stop. Produce is fresh and they have pretty much everything you need. read more

Great service and food. I love how it's a local business. Workers are very friendly and helpful.

We love coming here and supporting local business. It's family owned so it's always nice to say hi to the different family members running the show that day as they're always super sweet. There are limited items here so if you're looking for anything specific I would call beforehand. They own the the frutería right next door & that is also 5 stars! read more

I like this little store right next to Señor Mangos. It's a small produce store that also offers pan dulce, tortillas, Mexican candy, spices, homemade salsas, cheese, eggs and Mexican Coke!! This is my "emergency" go to place. If I'm cooking and I need an onion or I ran out of tortillas, I can quickly walk to this cute little store and get the onion that I need and most of the time extra stuff ( candy). I can always count on them to have ripe papayas and avocados. They have decent prices and at times great deals on fruit and veggies. read more

Wow, this store is so amazing! The fruits and vegetables were organized so beautifully. Makaela, knew so much about the store she was able to help me find everything I need. She bagged my groceries perfectly and we had such a fun conversation! You should give her a raise!!! read more

I come here almost every day with my partner to buy produce, milk, and soda and occasionally bacon, eggs, and soyrizo, but regardless of what we're buying, they always have whatever we need and it's never overpriced or too expensive. We love to support small business in our neighborhood and their family is very kind and helpful. Please support this little market! Thank you for being open! read more

I love that this is right around the corner from my house! Super convenient and they are always stocked. They have produce, tortillas, fresh salsa, canned goods, and some home paper products. Everyone I've encountered has been so nice. read more

I love this little market in the heart of north park. This place is old school in the best way. They always have the best mangoes at the right price just under $1 a piece. I like to buy my strawberries, pineapples and papayas here too. Great value! Go support this local business read more

I live 2 blocks away from Leon's produce. It's great having this locally owned produce store in the neighborhood. Their prices cannot be beat. Every time I come I spend 3 times less than I would if I were to go to Vons or other stores looking for the same produce. They also have the best mangoes! If you stop by make sure to grab one or ten! read more

Great neighborhood convenience store/market. This is my go to spot when I run out of stuff in between in between grocery shoppings. They have a lot for such a little place. Their prices are reasonable for a small business as well. The people who work there are nice and friendly too. If I don't feel like doing a full grocery shopping sometimes I can get through the week by just shopping here. Love having this place on the same block as me. Highly recommended! read more

Great local spot for fresh produce and miscellaneous staples for the house. Great customer service. Delicious tortillas!

Old school "Mom & Pop" produce market. Small, but inviting. Very helpful staff with zero attitude. Convenience during the virus outbreak, no crowds either! read more

Awesome place with lots of produce and good prices. The people are super nice and the produce is fresh.

This place is awesome for my neighborhood veggie and some grab and go. You need to lol at veggies because they are are ready to use and ripe so sometimes a few are past their prime . The tomato are always the best. Better than sprouts or any of the other stores. Their eggs are always fresh and a good price. I usually do my produce shopping here instead of the market. They have fresh tortillas and bread as well. read more

Stopped in to get items to make tacos and picked up the red and green salsa and crema. All three were authentic, fresh and full of flavor. I may be a regular now just to get the salsas. read more

Go support your local bodega! Everyone is very friendly & they're usually stocked with well-priced produce. They've also got fresh tortillas, some cheeses, Mexican pantry items, eggs & Mexican candies. read more

Good prices and great selection for such a tiny shop. Also, love the fact that they sell local delicious tortillas. One more thing, it's also one of the few spots out here that sell bags of peruvian beans. read more

My mom and I stopped by senor mangoes to get our juice fix, so we stopped in here while we waited. We were making a flan, and salsa for later on and we also needed some tortillas. We were going to stop by another larger Mexican market on the way home but Leon Produce had everything we needed! They only sell produce you would need for Mexican dishes like tomatoes, cilantro, mango's, onions, garlic etc. There not much selection but they had everything we needed. Everything looked fresh, and tasty. They also had bags of rice, beans, chips, tortillas from a local tortilleria and a select few canned and boxed goods. They have a nice looking candy section, as well as some bimbo pastries and chips. If I am ever in the area and need any Mexican goods I will definately come back here. It had a very home-y welcoming vibe and everyone was super friendly and helpful :-) read more

I love this place because it's within walking distance from my apartment and really convenient when I'm cooking dinner and notice I'm short on something like an onion or tomato. They usually have good deals on fruit as well. There is also a refrigerator with eggs and milk, so it's just really helpful to get the basics at a small mom and pop shop without having to trek over to a supermarket. The door is always left open, so wash your produce thoroughly at home...then it's all good! The people that work here are super nice and it's right next door to one of my favorite places, Senor Mangos...mmmm! The prices are affordable and I can always grab a guilty snack, like a bag of Mexican candy or Fuego Takis. If you like Hot Cheetos, you need to try these spicy chile/limon mini taquito looking chips. My 3rd grade students eat them all the time, so I know they are legit. Super spicy and not found in your regular grocery store. read more

Love this place, local business with lots of a great products that make great dishes. The fruit and veggies are more affordable and they have great options. I love coming here. read more

So I just went to this place. It closes at 7pm !! on a SUNDAY that is pretty darn good for a neighborhood "MOM N POP" produce store. The people or family were very nice and friendly. CHECK THIS OUT THEY HAVE BAGS OF CUT UP VEGGIES TO MAKE YOUR OWN VEGETABLE SOUP!!!! that is so cool. JUST add veggie broth and there ya go... just recovering from a cold so wish I knew about that a few days ago, but my Grandmother brought me over some soup so yeaH!!!! They have great prices on some things as well as some nice looking tomatoes for less then 70 cents a pound. NICE There are some bugs here and there but yeah its because the door is open. THEY EVEN HVE SWEET BREADS I took my little min pin with me and leashed him up outside he was chill and everyone else was cool with him. read more

Used to check this spot all the time when it was walking distance and i needed something i forgot to grab at the farmers market. They usually do not have much, if any, organic produce, but keep an eye out for when they get the mass quantity of mangoes in.....so cheap, and theyre organic! Its usually a garlic run, which also becomes a plantain run....and a mexican baked-good run, as they carry a bunch of different, delivered fresh daily, baked goodies that go great with a Senor Mangos vampiro juice! Price, convenience, and friendly folk is why i continue to go back. A good neighborhood joint. read more

Leon Produce - the front of the store - Fruits & Veggies Near Me - San Diego, California

This place has all your procduce needs... mostly. Sometimes the stuff is a bit ripe, but it's all locally grown and well priced. They have awesome authentic tortilla chips made up in Escondido... the brand is Tortilleria. They were a hit with fresh Caribbean salsa that was made with ingredients from Leons Produce and Fiesta Market, because Leon's was out of red bell peppers, but hey... they had a habanero chile for me so I appreciate that. read more

A nice stop in for some quick items. Grabbed some pan dulce at night (selection was minimal) and that pink cake they had was incredible!! Pretty sure they don't make it there. Everything's pretty cheap and I'm convinced they are the same people who run Señor Mango's. I love to support this small business - they're so nice and it's just a well equipped place. You can get snacks, Mexican candies, drinks, and produce. read more

This is a cute local produce stand, and all the food is very reasonably priced. I choose this over Vons produce every time.

We love Leon's! They have the best avocados and for almost half the price at what you would pay at a grocery store. Their hours are awesome as well. We love getting our produce there. read more

This is a little produce stand that sells fruit, veggies, and some Mexican food items. Parking is difficult to find. They have good deals on lemons, limes, chiles, but most of their produce is not very fresh. The fruit is usually overripe and has fruit flies. The owner and employees have been friendly, but the other customers there are hateful. read more

dude, the fruits and veggies are often swarmed with flies. on occasion you will find something good for cheap. i mostly come here for my mexican candy fix. =) read more

Super friendly people and I have found their prices to be very reasonable. Last week Vons had lousy looking celery for $1.99/bunch and mushy cucumbers for 99¢. I stopped in at Leon's on the way home.....cukes were only 50¢ and celery bunch was only 79¢. read more

Leon's is a great local shop! I buy my corn tortillas from here which are handmade in San Diego. Also one time I told them I wished they had smaller cabbages since I can't finish a whole one, so they sold me half of a cabbage! "Don't worry, someone will buy the other half," they told me. Wow! read more

I live a couple blocks away, and it has everything I need at prices similar to the farmers market. A lot of Mexican ingredients too, that I've been having fun experimenting with. My kids love trying the Mexican candies. Nice little locally owned business that I'm happy to support. read more

I love this place! It's only three blocks from my house, and their prices are great as well as it being a nice family run business. The only downside is that there's not a ton of variety, so it's just the basics of fruit and veggies, and there are sometimes a lot of flies in the store. But the pros outweigh the cons for me in all of the ways that count. I will continue to be a loyal customer of Leon produce for basic fruit and veggie needs. They also have really amazing salsa, super hot and homemade! read more
