The more I come here the more I love it. The breakfast is top tier, I like to order the farm breakfast because the eggs are sooo good and I appreciate that they have gluten free bread!! The coffee is always so good.

10/10 would rec to go out of your comfort zone and try a special latte that you couldn't make at home! This hummingbird latte sounds like a lot but this was AMAZING! Not too sweet, and best taste! Service was 10/10 and restaurant was clean and modern vibe!

Espresso martini... Small and overly strong
    Heather B.

We had called ahead as we had a large group of about 10 for a Saturday morning brunch. I don't think they were overly busy, maybe short staffed or just extremely slow waiter. We had called ahead to let them know we were coming, but they were not prepared. Once we were seated, they served us warm water with no ice. Took them about 15 minutes to come back to take our drink order, so noticing this we placed our food order as well and asked for ice. They brought half the table ice but did come back eventually with more for the rest of us. Our food came out before our drinks, basically finished eating before we were served our overly potent espresso martini. The food was delicious, at least what I had was. Had the cali toast with a small salad and side of bacon. Toast was cooked just right and everything seasoned perfectly. As for the martini, I would not recommend a drink unless you plan to be tipsy as you leave the restaurant... it was just that strong. Service and bartending skills could use improvement.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant ever since they opened the one in downtown but have not been able to make it until today. I am in a women's group that plans various brunch's lunches and dinners in the BIRMINGHAM area. One of the ladies made a reservation weeks ago so they knew that we were going to be at least a party of 12 to 14. It turned out to be about 12 when they got the tables together. There was just one full table of about eight people and then two other tables which weren't close to us so they ended up putting an extra table in so we could all sit together. Since it was a Saturday morning, it was pretty busy. Parking is a bit cumbersome. I pretty much had to make my own spot so that was a bit frustrating. I don't think I saw any handicap spots. I arrive there about 1015. We had to wait 15 minutes to get our table which wasn't too bad. When they came around to take our orders, we gave them our drink order and our food order. Several of us got some alcoholic beverages. I was a bit surprised that we didn't get our drinks until after we got our meals. I chose to get the vanilla French toast which came with spiced peaches, but I did not want that. I wanted strawberries which they told me they were out of. My friend next to me got a breakfast board and lo and behold. She had strawberries on there so I asked again for strawberries and the young man said they didn't have any and then I pointed to her board eventually I got strawberries and was charged five dollars for them, which I wasn't told before hand. I did get the espresso martini, which mostly tasted like vodka. It was very strong and not very tasty. Also, the glass was very small. It looked like they only had two bartenders if that you could definitely tell they were behind. All in all my experience, there was not very good. I don't think I will be back. I had a brunch plan there next month that I decided to change to a different location. Rachael was our server and she did you the best she could. She had no control over the drinks. I also asked for extra napkins, which I did not receive. It seemed like it wasn't very well staffed for a Saturday rush.

15 minute wait despite lots of empty tables 032126

This one went from annoyed to wowed in a hurry. Despite At least 20 open seats the hostess was telling people there'd be a 15 minute wait to ensure everyone received a "great experience". While several people left we ordered carry-out so we could get back on the road. The decision to turn people away from being seated of course led to a pile up in the carry-out area; not exactly the "great experience" she was so concerned with providing. As we waited for our order a few more groups came in. People either left or ordered carry out, but no one said "yes" to the long wait. Then two women walked in and were immediately seated; that's when I asked to speak to the manager. She was very nice and allowed me to tell her about our not so great experience. She apologized but offered no excuses which I appreciated. She offered to seat us but between parking, talking to the hostess, & ordering carry out we had already been there 30 minutes and we had to get back on the road. She offered to take care of our bill but I said no thanks just wanted her to be aware. When our order was ready she brought it to us personally and said she had already taken care of the bill, which was very generous of her. On the UPSIDE the coffee was very good and our avocado toasts (GF, no cheese) were AMAZING. The tomatoes were so yummy - I think they'd been stewed- plump and flavorful. There was pesto, a generous schmear of avocado, and a perfect runny egg. On the side were lovely spring greens tossed in a vinaigrette. Super, super good. The best Avotoast I've ever had (sorry, Billy G's!). Despite the seating weirdness I will be adding Frothy Monkey to my "Birmingham" collection. Recommend!

Not local but wanted something less boring and basic than fast food or a diner chain after a wedding & before getting in the car to drive home. We stumbled on this place. It's super cute. Food was really good and they have a lot of unique options. Staff was really friendly. They are willing to to make changes to orders (I wanted Frisch toast bit not the compote that comes with it-again it was the morning after a wedding so we were kind of hung over so I want plain, carbs, and comfort food) and they were able to do that with no issues after I had placed my order. The only issues was the wait. Everything took a really long time. From getting seated to waters to ordering to food arriving. It all was a really long wait. Just a heads up. If you are in a hurry I would go elsewhere. Also dog friendly

I'm obsessed with Frothy Monkey. I love everything about it. The variety but not overwhelming menu. Pastry selections, coffee, cocktails, etc. I love the French toast with apples. The may have a revolving seasonal menu or a typical coffee list. I have been doing lavender lattes. The service is prompt and friendly. It's family friendly and even offers games to play. We love going here and frequent it often!

I loved the iced latte! Food was okay, not bad but not amazing! Great experience. We came in w/ a group of 7, staff was very nice to clean off the table fairly quick and give us a table pretty soon. Ambiance was pretty chill. You can get away with dressing up or down. There is a nice seating area in the front and shaded. Some people were in there with laptops, doing work. And we were there just to dine! I also think some people were ordering at the front before sitting down. Great first experience at the Homewood location overall!

Great spot tucked into the Oxmoor Road section of Homewood! This is a great place to grab a quick coffee if you go to one of the many churches along this street. The coffee is awesome, I tried the Golden Monkey Latte which has honey, cinnamon, turmeric, pink salt, and coconut sugar. I ordered this fully prepared for it to be gross and for me to pat myself on the back for being adventurous. It was so tasty! It had just enough spice to tingle the nostrils, balanced beautifully by the sugar. I would not call this a sweet drink, though. Pairs well with a sweet pastry. I also tried the gluten free blueberry muffin. It was warmed, but still had a cold spot in the middle. That kind of thing gives me the willies. It was tasty nonetheless. I've been to the Frothy Monkey location in Chattanooga, which is in an old train station lobby with dramatically tall ceilings and huge windows. Although the grandeur of Homewood's Frothy Monkey does not compare, it is a great space to meet up with buddies, do some work, or just grab some breakfast! The service here is odd! They have what appears to be a regular coffee shop ordering kiosk at the front, but they want you to sit down to take your order. I guess the ordering kiosk is only for take-out. I think I was seated in the only two-top right in the service hub's blind spot. It was a little slow getting orders taken and getting the check, we eventually went up to aforementioned kiosk to pay. I will definitely be back for brunch! I didn't realize they offered such a full food menu, and wine, too!!

I ordered the Monkey Mocha Latte without the banana syrup due to an allergy, and it was perfect for a cool morning. You can taste the chocolate sauce and espresso blended to perfection in every sip. They also have some fun seasonal drinks I can't wait to try. Definitely check them out soon!

I had heard about this place and was under the impression that it was just a coffee shop. I was wrong. My wife suggested we go there one evening which surprised me as she doesn't drink coffee. She explained I was wrong in my assumption so we went for dinner. This place has a coffee shop but also a full menu of appetizers, soups and salads, salads, hamburgers and sandwiches, pastas and my favorite, all day brunch. You enter from the street through the covered outside dinning veranda. Enter into a warm earth-tone decorated restaurant with a long bar on the right hand wall that is shared by a coffee bar and a full bar. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. Wed both ordered off the brunch menu, breakfast being my favorite food beside steak. I ordered the farm breakfast, eggs over easy bacon gouda grits and a biscuit. my wife got the Broadbent omelette which is stuffed with bacon, cheddar cheese, onions and red peppers. Our orders came out promptly and looked wonderful. My eggs were cooked perfectly as was the rest of my meal. My wife's omelette was also wonderful, being full of ingredients. It tasted yummy as did mine. The biscuit was hand made and delicious. What made it even better was the jam that came with it. It was hand made strawberry and full of chunk of fruit. They also have a apricot jam that I will try next time I visit. Their full bar and the coffee bar both have a wide selection of specialty drinks that look fabulous. This place is a gem hidden by the misconception that it is just a coffee shop.

Wow! Their menu is great for my new Heart Health way of eating! I must go back to try their Shrimp & Grits! I had a medium latte that was outstanding! It was gone immediately so I ordered another one immediately! They have cocktails too so it's great for a quick place to meet adult friends to chat. I'm sure kiddos are welcomed too but I really enjoy the atmosphere that day because there were just tables of respectful adults chatting quietly at their tables. The facilities were extremely clean as well. I will be back soon solo as well as with friends!

    Quinoa and black bean burger

We were looking for somewhere to eat for a late lunch, and the kids requested the humble pb&j while we were looking for something a little more adult palette-esque for my husband and I. Enter Frothy Monkey. It was on a list recommended by our air bnb hosts, and it did not disappoint. I wish I had caught our server's name, because she was great. Anyone with high energy kids knows it can be difficult to enjoy a meal out. But she put us at ease and took away a lot of the stress just by being so good with the girls. Even handled the inevitable drink spill flawlessly and helped redirect the energy to a stack of playing cards and board games to distract them for a bit. We ordered for the kids right away, and they got their pb&j (with tortilla chips and fruit) pretty quickly. It was exactly as advertised, nothing more nothing less, just what they wanted. My husband and I ordered a couple of Irish Coffees while we decided what vittles sounded best. They were a perfect pick me up on this chilly February afternoon! Then he got the quinoa and black bean burger and I got a small cup of tomato basil soup and the Ceasar Salad with portobello on it. The burger was pretty good in terms of veggie burgers. But my soup and salad were better. Both of my girls loved the soup, so I ended up having to order a second bowl so we could all have some. The salad was kale instead of romaine with a big scoop of red quinoa on it. But the chef's kiss was the portobello. Hands down the best mushroom I've ever had. It was good enough that my husband ordered the same thing to go. Overall. We're super happy with taking the hosts recommendation and trying out Frothy Monkey, plus it was in an area full of other cute little restaurants and shops that now we want to go back to check out some other time.

I tried the iced Aden latte (espresso, milk, pistachio and lavender) and it's the best coffee off of lakeshore. None of the flavors were overpowering the others. I also ordered a biscoff crepe and a sabaya. The sabaya was flaky and crispy, smothered in delicious honey. It wasn't the thickest sabaya but I enjoyed it! The biscoff crepe was so decadent.
