Wanted to try this place for the coffee and I wasn't disappointed. Once inside I was interested because the place smelled so good. We were greeted immediately when we entered. Two people waited on us. One took our ordered and the other answered questions about the popsicles. I think that side goes by the name Popbar. The strawberry chocolate pop bar is awesome and needs a warning sign. Every bite was better than the one before. If you go to the edge, get a pop. Treat yourself. Many flavors

Baba Java is a great place to spend the day. If you're looking for a coffee shop that offers a little more than coffee I highly recommend it. Inside, you can get coffee and tea, scones, shakes, or pops. And when you need it, you can hit the other restaurants apart of The Edge. I decided on the maple brown sugar latte. Unfortunately, they got the order wrong so they made the Lumberjack Latte instead. Since it was already made, I didn't want to waste it so I stuck with it. It was actually pretty good so I wasn't too upset. My boyfriend got the pumpkin pie latte with extra pumpkin syrup and it was great! The location is fairly new so I would say service wasn't great. But I feel like that comes with any new place. It just takes a while to learn the place. Tip- Just an FYI, there's not many plugs outside and the inside isn't extremely large so just come well prepared if you need to charge laptops etc.

Woke up on a cold morning and really wanted some hot chocolate. Well, on the road we go. We noticed that this placed received some good reviews and decided to give it a try. Pulled up to a brightly lit coffee shop, perfect for a work spot, hang ou spot or a date. This place is not like your average coffee shop. They offer natural popsicles. Let me tell you...I wanted to try them all but I came here for hot chocolate. They offer almond milk and oat milk. Great for those that can't handle dairy. The hot chocolate was delicious! Chocolatey and creamy. I would definitely go back, wait...I did. 3 days later, I had a strategy meeting. Great area in the back to sit discuss without interruptions. Check it out for your next small group meeting.

I've been driving past this coffee shop every day since it has opened and have been ACHING to try it out! Baba Java is the absolute best addition to the Homewood area that I could think of. The coffee options are plentiful, unique & Middle Eastern-inspired which I of course loved right away. I was able to customize a typical shaken-iced drink to just an iced latte and it was truthfully the best latte I've had in Birmingham. The Arabian Sands is perfectly balanced with a gorgeous blend of cardamom and brown sugar, it wasn't very sweet at all which is my preference! The two baristas working at the shop were honestly the highlight of our time. I have never met such lively and warm people and I will most definitely be back for both the coffee and the lovely staff :) I can definitely see myself studying inside as well as its extremely spacey with lots of seating available to patrons. Do yourself a favor and check out Baba Java!!

Ordered a London fog. Was really excited based on the description. Highly disappointed, especially for $7. I think the owners have a great vision but the baristas were uninterested, and did a bad job making my drink. Not friendly or helpful at all. Never coming back.

Now that's the coolest shake ever! Today I had the pleasure of visiting the newest Baba Java Coffee in Homewood. There are now three Baba Java Coffees in Birmingham. One at The Village at Meadowbrook and the other also in Hoover but off 31 past the Galleria. This newest BJC is right off Greensprings Hwy within a thriving new development called The Edge. Let me digress and let me tell you a little about The Edge. It's slated to be a new all in one entertainment sector. Within this little carved out section of Homewood will be a fitness studio True40, B'Ham Burger, Shin Ramen Noodle Asian cuisine, the Que-Bicle, a wine bar Corbeau, a cookie place and finally Baba Java Coffee with Popbar. I can't wait to try everything in The Edge soon. Most of The Edge with its eateries have outdoor seating with shade and many tables and chairs. There will also be an area with turf and a large screen tv. With the other eateries just having a window to place your order for food and then outdoor seating, BJC has a nice "interior" part of the building which is quite spacious with small tables and chairs. They are actually doing a soft opening now with their grand opening slated in a couple of weeks. I like the lighting with all the sunlight from the many wide glass windows. It doesn't take away from the large viewable digital menu hanging on the back wall. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly with workers greeting everyone who entered. I didn't check but I'm pretty sure they're a typical coffee shop with wifi. I saw a couple of patrons sitting with their laptops enjoying their drinks. BJC has their own signature drinks: Camel Latte, Honey Cinnamon Latte, Honey Habanero Latte, Maple Brown Sugar Latte, Orange Apeel Latte, Arabian Sands, and Creamy Cappuccino. I have no idea how they taste, but they have great names and I'd like to try them all one day. They also have the usual espressos, macchiatos, cappucinos, etc. Finally they shakes! Their Gelatoshakes can be a variety of flavors such as vanilla, chocolate, caramel, coffee, strawberry, green tea, toasted marshmallow. They have a frozen lemonade shake that can also come with strawberry, matcha or mango. But what really caught my eye was the Frozen Hot Chocolate shake! I got it with peppermint. It was delicious by the way! Yom Yom Yom Yom, but what was so cool was when they handed it to us. Please look at the picture, but I will try to describe it. The shake was inside a plastic "bottle" with half a waffle cone sitting in the opening. The rim of the cone is peppered with chocolate sprinkles. Inside the cone is the whipped cream with the straw sticking out of it! Please look at the photo. What a clever presentation. I wonder now if their other drinks are as clever. I mentioned earlier that it was Baba Java Coffee with Popbar. It was explained to me by Randy, Baba Java's Marketing Director who was on location, that Baba Java as a corporation purchased the franchise rights to sell Popbars at their locations. Basically they partnered with Popbar. What is popbar? Imagine Steel City Pops on steroids. On a stick you will find a huge selection of delectable delights that will make your mouth thank you. Aside from a variety of fruit flavors, there's other cool ones like Mixed Berries, Dulce de Leche, Hazelnut, Coffee, Pina Colada and Pistachio. Can't wait to spend more time at this Baba Java. Welcome to Homewood!

Be prepared to sit in either because they do get busy especially Saturday mornings (we stood in quite the line). The food is good. If I could do a 4.5 star I would simply because there was hair in our burrito, but that's on us for not mentioning it to management. It's worth mentioning that there's a park nearby if you do visit with your kiddos and need something to do after.

Even when the line is out the door, the service is efficient and genuinely kind. You can tell the baristas care about what they're doing, they weigh their coffee grounds precisely, time each espresso shot, and pay attention to every detail to make sure each drink comes out smooth and rich. They also offer alternative milks, which I really appreciate. The food is just as impressive. Nothing feels overly greasy, and everything tastes fresh. The biscuits are a customer favorite, but I personally love the eggs, sausage, toast, and fruit. The honey butter is especially outstanding and adds the perfect touch. One of the coolest parts is that it used to be a gas station, and the old pump area has been transformed into a covered patio with couches, perfect for relaxing and catching up with friends. I would easily give this place 5/5 stars and highly recommend it!

There wasn't line when we got there but the crowd usually follows us for some reason so by the time we left there was standing room only and a line out the door. Coffee - I got a vanilla latte extra sweet (no lavender) and my daughter said it was one of the best. I thought it was pretty good. I would go again when back in Birmingham!

The young girl making the coffee was loudly talking about someone who messed up their coffee order this morning and how frustrated she was. The only other employee was occupied with what seemed a large order of bread etc. When she finished what she was doing she looked at the now five customers, claustrophobically waiting, and said I'll be right back and disappeared. Leaving the one guy serving the one customer. It was 11:30 am on a rainy day. Figured I could do without a cream cheese croissant and coffee and left. Had already waited 5 as the only other person in there and did not want to wait another undetermined amount of time. I know one of the bakers. It's a shame the front has been so bad these last two times.

I have to say I'm really impressed with how this area has been revitalized lately! There is both an Honest Coffee and a Frothy Monkey here. I actually like this so that if either is too crowded you can try the other one. Honest Coffee is small, but so chic. I loved everything here from the atmosphere to the staff. All so warm and welcoming. I met up with my friend Miranda here to catch up and since it was in the morning, I totally opted for a caffeinated drink. I saw a lot of other drink options like Miranda's Watermelon Slushie and thought those would be great for when I come by here in the afternoons or evenings. I chose their seasonal drink of the Orange Creamsicle iced coffee. It was delicious! It was just the right proportion of orange creamsicle sweetness but still a good amount of coffee flavor. A barista there gave us juice samples too that I surprisingly liked too. It was some sort of juice of beets, ginger, and other superfoods. I will definitely be venturing this side of town more!

It was much quieter than I expected, but that may have also been due to it being a holiday and folks out and about traveling for the weekend. I could have easily stayed there all morning just soaking up the cozy atmosphere and listening to the music the store was playing. Lots of dance and pop hits which I love!

My friends also said the Expresso Martini was way too strong. The staff was amazing and accommodating. The problem we had is that we had a group of 12 on Saturday at 10:30 for brunch. We called on Thursday for reservations which they don't take. They did tell us to have 2 or 2 people come in at 10:00 and they'd work to seat us. They knew we were coming and had a phone number if there was a problem. I received no call. We were provided a table for 8 at 10:30 with 2 two seater tables. This was not ok. The manager did work with us to scoot empty table to our large table so we could all sit together. Water was promptly provided and drink orders taken. Then food orders taken. Food came out before drinks. I know it's hard when there's a large group but I felt it should have been staffed appropriately knowing we were coming. Our group had a good time because we weren't rushed and we got to visit. For people that need to know, there's no handicap parking at all and we needed a spot. I am in a women's group that plans various brunch's lunches and dinners in the BIRMINGHAM area. One of the ladies made a reservation weeks ago so they knew that we were going to be at least a party of 12 to 14. It turned out to be about 12 when they got the tables together. There was just one full table of about eight people and then two other tables which weren't close to us so they ended up putting an extra table in so we could all sit together. Since it was a Saturday morning, it was pretty busy. Parking is a bit cumbersome. I pretty much had to make my own spot so that was a bit frustrating. I don't think I saw any handicap spots. I arrive there about 1015. We had to wait 15 minutes to get our table which wasn't too bad. When they came around to take our orders, we gave them our drink order and our food order. Several of us got some alcoholic beverages. I was a bit surprised that we didn't get our drinks until after we got our meals. I chose to get the vanilla French toast which came with spiced peaches, but I did not want that. I wanted strawberries which they told me they were out of. My friend next to me got a breakfast board and lo and behold. She had strawberries on there so I asked again for strawberries and the young man said they didn't have any and then I pointed to her board eventually I got strawberries and was charged five dollars for them, which I wasn't told before hand. I did get the espresso martini, which mostly tasted like vodka. It was very strong and not very tasty. Also, the glass was very small. It looked like they only had two bartenders if that you could definitely tell they were behind. All in all my experience, there was not very good. I don't think I will be back. I had a brunch plan there next month that I decided to change to a different location. Rachael was our server and she did you the best she could. She had no control over the drinks. I also asked for extra napkins, which I did not receive. It seemed like it wasn't very well staffed for a Saturday rush.
