I was looking for a coffee spot after 5 p.m. and came across Honest Coffee Roasters inside City Bowls Homewood. It seems to be more of a City Bowls location that serves Honest Coffee rather than a standalone coffee shop, but that didn't take away from the experience. I ordered the seasonal latte, **The Southern**. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite for me. The flavor felt a little muted, so I asked if they could add some extra Roosevelt syrup. The staff was more than happy to accommodate, and the additional syrup made a noticeable difference. While I probably wouldn't order *The Southern* again, I'm definitely interested in coming back to try the **Bootlegger** or **First Lady**--both sounded much more up my alley. The standout of my visit was the customer service. The staff was incredibly friendly, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me find something I'd enjoy. They asked thoughtful questions about my flavor preferences and made recommendations instead of just taking my order, which I really appreciated. I have heard about this place ever since it first opened up. I hadn't been able to check it out yet since I'm rarely in this part of Homewood. I have to say I'm really impressed with how this area has been revitalized lately! There is both an Honest Coffee and a Frothy Monkey here. I actually like this so that if either is too crowded you can try the other one. Honest Coffee is small, but so chic. I loved everything here from the atmosphere to the staff. All so warm and welcoming. I met up with my friend Miranda here to catch up and since it was in the morning, I totally opted for a caffeinated drink. I saw a lot of other drink options like Miranda's Watermelon Slushie and thought those would be great for when I come by here in the afternoons or evenings. I chose their seasonal drink of the Orange Creamsicle iced coffee. It was delicious! It was just the right proportion of orange creamsicle sweetness but still a good amount of coffee flavor. A barista there gave us juice samples too that I surprisingly liked too. It was some sort of juice of beets, ginger, and other superfoods. I had a bit of extra time before church this past Sunday morning, so I decided to try a local coffee shop that I haven't visited yet. Honest Coffee Roasters happened to be close by, so that's where I chose. The barista was very peppy and was patient with me while I decided what I wanted to order. I was tempted to get a seasonal drink, but settled on a Cortado. It was delicious! I also got a chocolate croissant which was so light and yummy! It was much quieter than I expected, but that may have also been due to it being a holiday and folks out and about traveling for the weekend. I could have easily stayed there all morning just soaking up the cozy atmosphere and listening to the music the store was playing. Lots of dance and pop hits which I love! read more

The white brick walls and dark wooden counters contribute to the cozy yet modern aesthetic. Service: Our barista was super friendly and happy to explain their menu options. She also brought our drinks to our table! Food: We ordered the First Lady and a Sugar Cookie Latte. The First Lady, a latte with house-made vanilla and almond syrup, mostly tasted like almond flavoring. It was good, but we would've liked a bit more balance between vanilla and almond. The Sugar Cookie Latte, served with colorful sprinkles on top, actually tasted pretty similar to The First Lady, having a predominantly almond flavoring to it as well. Of note, we requested half sweetness for The First Lady but the Sugar Cookie Latte tasted noticeably less sweet to us, so we're not sure if they mixed up the sweetness levels. Overall: We enjoyed our experience at Honest Coffee Roasters. Their homemade syrups add a richness to the lattes, and the overall aesthetics of the cafe are welcoming. Honest is a welcome addition to Edgewood, and they pull it off beautifully. First impression, in keeping with the honest theme, the interior is immaculate and clean. No clutter, or wasted space. Nothing held back. I was here on a Sunday, but I imagine this atmosphere and general vibe would be very conducive to meetings and Taking Care of Business on the laptop. Love the understated acoustic music. The service was friendly and efficient. Despite only being open a week or two, and despite a very busy Sunday morning, both my coffee and breakfast burrito were at my table before I could give it a second thought. I'm a bit of a minor league coffee snob, and I take it black so I can actually, you know, taste it, and the quality of the beans and brew was up there with the best in town. The burrito was very tasty and filling. A full meal. My favorite Valentina Hot Sauce was a nice touch! Overall, HIGHLY recommend this locally owned and operated coffee shop in the heart of Homewood. Loved my visit here! I frequent this part of Homewood often so we thought why not try out Honest for a morning-study location. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very clean and bright inside, a little more small than I was expecting but thankfully there was one table in the very back with an outlet nearby for us to share.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the 12oz iced maple brown sugar latte and it was SO good. The coffee was quite strong and smooth and the maple notes were perfect, not too much at all. There were 2 shots of espresso in the drink but it was perfectly balanced and really exactly how I always want my lattes. The servers were very sweet and you can tell they all enjoy their job. Hands down my new favorite coffee shop in Birmingham! The drinks are really good, however, they are a little on the expensive side. My favorite drink is the iced dirty chai, but when I recently went, they had a seasonal strawberry shortcake latte which was really good. It had a strawberry milk base with a shot of espresso on top. To make it look extra aesthetic, they even added heart sprinkles! I do wish they had more seating. I like to go study there, but there are never any tables available. They do have seating outside, but wifi is really slow there. The employees are all super sweet and have awesome recommendations. Overall, I highly recommend this place to everyone! read more

Me & my fiancé both got the breakfast sandwich. It was $15, with no side :/ it says it comes with bacon or sausage but then up-charges you for the protein. Ended up being $40 for 2 sandwiches & 1 coffee. It has cold brew on their menu, so that's what I ordered. What I got was not cold brew, went back up to the counter & another girl told me they didn't sell cold brew & she got me an iced coffee. Overall, was a decent experience! I was excited to try this new coffee shop that popped up in Edgewood. The interior is quite long and narrow, but plenty of seats along the wall to choose from. They also have a couch up front for larger parties. There were some cinnamon rolls in the display case from Last Call Baking. I tried their chai latte and was somewhat disappointed. It was mostly milk foam, and I could really only taste the cinnamon. It seems like a nice place to meet up with friends, but I likely won't go out of my way to come back for the drinks alone. read more

I have visited Honest multiple times and each time I have been greeted warmly, my order was filled quickly, and everything is delicious (bowls, sandwiches, coffee, etc.).
