Such a welcoming atmosphere with great people! My first visit was better than I could've expected. Great service, great chai latte and cheese danish, an interesting history lesson and a shop full of family love. Naimah and Roc were SO friendly. They really strive to make you feel at home. I will definitely be back! Sn: Chai latte actually tasted flavorful instead of solely like milk like other coffee shops.

Had a delightful visit to this black-owned coffee shop while on a brief weekend in Birmingham. It's located inside the historic A.G. Gaston Muesum. Roc was very patient as I surveyed the expansive menu and ultimately recommended the "Sweet Potato Pie" Latte. I was skeptical, but he made me a believer. The pie flavors come through in a unique and amazing way sans floating potato pie pieces. I was shocked. Stop by and experience one for yourself. I can't recall a ton of seating, if any but the wifi is complimentary. The service was top-tier and the space itself while historic, is well maintained. Take a sip of a great beverage and a gulp of important American history.

Support small businesses!! The vibe felt like home! Friendly people, great service, flavorful coffee and tasty breakfast, all in the sacred space of the A. G. Gaston Motel. Be sure to check out the gallery while you're there.

Stopped by this new coffee shop that recently opened in the historic A.G. Gaston Motel. This place is a welcome addition to the 4th Ave/Civil Rights district near the Civil Rights Institute, 16th St Baptist Church and Kelly Ingram Park. The shop was bustling and had a nice selection of flavored lattes, drip coffee and pastries. I grabbed an iced latte and some peanut butter cookies. Both were great. The owner was behind the counter taking and filling orders and she was as nice as could be...very friendly and spent some time talking to customers about the new shop. Great vibes. Love to see passionate local people doing positive things. The place is clean and tidy, the coffee comes out quick and delicious, and there is enough seating so that if you want to spend a little time there enjoying your brew that should be just fine. Nice to see a new, truly local spot open up in this area, and especially nice that it's a coffee spot. Who doesn't love coffee? Next time you're in the area stop in and give them a try.

I popped in for a quick coffee but ended up going back with my family so that they could experience the history! Service was absolutely amazing. Roc took the time to tell me about the history of the area and AG Gaston. The motel wasn't open because we came on a Monday but he still told me about it. I can't wait to come back and experience everything and learn more of the history. I loved how bright and clean the space is. I was able to explore the gallery quickly while I waited for my latte. The latte and cheese danish were delicious. Make sure to go visit!

My oh my!!! How did I not know about this place?!! Let me tell you something; this place is a gem! The nostalgic feel when you pull up to the entrance is something to behold! I walked in and immediately felt the southern hospitality from the staff. You may seat yourself and someone will take your order BUT, you don't want to sit because there's so much to see! History all around you. Photos, a museum, the A.G. Gaston hotel courtyard! Why are we not talking about this place!! Let's talk about the menu...different types of coffees along with smoothies and deserts. Get yourself the pineapple mango smoothie... delish! Don't forget Amber's delicious brownie...don't judge my choices. Everything was great! I will be back!!!

Ok ok. Where do I START? Just the idea of going to the historical AG Gaston hotel was a Saturday morning treat. You walk up to the door and start feeling the vibe. We walked in and everyone was laughing and talking. I didn't know what to order so I asked. ROC gave me a little history. They have a coffee named War Room after the room, room 30, that was used for civil rights meetings. It's a mixed flavored double expresso coffee, served hot or iced. They let me try it and I liked it so I ordered it. We all ordered war rooms and the lemon blueberry muffins and it was delicious as well. We met Alicia and she and ROC were awesome. The order came to about $27 and That's not bad. We got our order to go but they insisted the next time we have to eat there. We will be back. You need to go. Dropping my microphone . Boom

    Katrina G.

By far the best customer service I've had all year. Street parking is available. We were undecided on what we wanted to order and we were provided samples of War Room. The drink was so good, we also got the lemon raspberry muffin. Ten outta ten.

I really enjoyed my first time at Alicia's Coffee. My mom and I stopped by close to their closing time. The owners were so engaged and gave us cold drink options since it was soooo hot!!!!! I really enjoyed my drink that wasn't too sweet and it was definitely refreshing. This isn't a big coffee shop but it's comfortable with tables and barstool seating . I didn't get any of their lemon cake but I will next time for sure. Street parking is available.

This morning, I moseyed into Alicia's Coffee and--brace yourselves--they've jazzed up the menu with grits! I devoured mine with a cheesy twist, but you can dress them up however your taste buds waltz. (No sugar) I also indulged in the sweet potato latte and the turkey, egg, and cheese croissant. And guess what? They're serving some scrumptious tea refresher from LaFleur Coffee Boutique. I planned to take it to-go, but I had to sip it again. I just had one on Wednesday. Don't judge me! Check them out!

I'm diabetic so I don't use sugar and truvia is just nasty. It tastes horrible and makes your drink taste horrible. Now mind you they will use all kinds of syrups with dyes and additives and sugars but nope not Splenda. That's bad for you. The 50 grams of sugar in a single vanilla latte is totally fine. We're ok with that even though that alone is over the recommended amount. But Splenda no we can't allow that. Will never be back.

I was specifically super excited to try their seasonal matcha special, which was made with horchata (also from Salud!) and strawberries, if I recall correctly. Unfortunately, we walked in only to find they were out of the supplies needed to make the drink. :( I was caught off guard and didn't know what to order, but the barista recommended a latte with maple flavor so I went with that. The interior was clean and spacious and had a relaxed and calm but energetic feeling to it. Good place to hang out or work quietly. There's a self-service area to spruce up or fix your drink or grab lids or stir sticks. Service was nice and my drink came out quickly. It was pretty good but not really the "right" drink for me. I like my stuff on the sweet side and this was much more balanced and coffee-forward. That said, it held its own against my sugar-craving taste buds and I drank most of it, which is usually the hallmark of good brew, lol. I don't really blame them because I blanked on what to order and just went with what was suggested. It's probably a great suggestion for lots of other folks! The shop may be small, but it has a cozy, welcoming feel that makes it a comfortable place to enjoy a cup of coffee. Even though it's located in the lobby of a building, the décor gives it plenty of character and makes the space feel warm rather than temporary. I could easily see myself coming here to get some work done or simply relax for a while. I decided to try one of their seasonal drinks, the Berry & Bee Latte. While it wasn't quite my favorite flavor combination, the espresso itself was well made, and I wouldn't hesitate to come back and try another drink from the menu. Sometimes a seasonal special just comes down to personal preference, and this one wasn't quite for me. The standout of my visit was the chorizo, egg, and cheese empanada. It was absolutely delicious and easily the highlight of my order. There's a short wait for the empanadas, but that's because they're warmed fresh after you order, and it's well worth it. I'd gladly wait a few extra minutes for something served hot and fresh. The only area where I think the experience could be improved is staffing. During my visit, the barista had to step away from the counter several times, which left me waiting a few minutes before I could order. Having a second employee available during busier times would likely make the flow much smoother and improve the overall customer experience. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would definitely stop by again. The comfortable atmosphere, quality coffee, and outstanding empanada make Daily Buzz Coffee worth a return trip, and I'm looking forward to trying a different latte on my next visit.
