With the summer heat hitting us, it's always nice to treat yourself to a nice dessert. I've come to Frost numerous times with my family already this summer and we love it! The store is very clean and they provide gloves for customers to use when self-serving. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and the owner is also very friendly and helpful. Great variety of flavors and toppings that I think accommodates for any age. Also, they have great promotions that I usually get notify by FiveStar which makes me come even more. For newbies or those with commitment issues, you can sample yogurt flavors before you fill your cup. + Clean bathroom inside. The kids liked this better than the yogurt. + Comfortable sofas (to watch the kids), in addition to counter seating. + Very friendly service. The young lady there made it a point to greet/invite everyone walking in and thank them as they left. + Lots of interesting yogurt flavors (lychee, passion fruit, cookies and cream, etc.) and a large variety of toppings. + Yogurt shakes and bubble drinks also available. + Buy one get one free coupon when you check in on Yelp!!! + Parking stalls in front. So, with so many positives, why only three stars? Because of one big negative: it's EXPENSIVE (in my opinion). Like other froyo places, they charge by weight. We paid around $12 for three SMALLish servings with a few toppings!!! The cheapskate in me could take those twelve dollars and get a couple half GALLONS of ice cream at Safeway instead. I like this place. I was looking for dole whip and this place came up on Google. They have lots of flavours and have shakes and other stuff as well. The girls who work here are nice and friendly and they even have like a little play area for kids. The first time I was here I had a matcha smoothie or something, it was really good. Honestly the most efficient and adorable froyo place I've been to!! I'm from Colorado and I'd like to say we know how to make froyo, but I've never experienced a place with so many topping options like this place! It was hard to choose between fresh-cut fruit and little fish-egg-looking boba balls. Our cashier was super friendly and shy but he had a sweet heart and I could tell he worked hard to make the environment special for everyone else. While my friend and I sat on the couch munching on our yogurt, we saw a family come in and their kids' eyes were filled with wonder and they had huge smiles. However today, I realized this business has really changed. The workers who are usually attentive teenagers, are now careless and unorganized. The overall store was messy. Food was on the floor, the tables had multiple spills, and the floor was visibly muddy and dirty. SO unlike our previous visits. Last, the shake my daughter ordered at the last visit was awful. It was chunky and watery at the same time. It also took forever to make. I returned it and the 2 workers literally laughed. It was awkward to say the least. Ok, so when I'm down to drive from town to Kailua 2x in 3 days to go back to this froyo spot bc I was dying to take my hubby there... it's LEGIT! If I want to get all "Rainman" about how many pieces of mochi to add or put my almonds to 1 side or basically just OCD out on my coveted cup of glory... well, I want what I want and that's what I get. This place is special because: 1) most other DIY froyo places have closed on O'ahu 2) they have HOMEMADE fresh baked choc chip cookies, brownies, red velvet cake, banana cake and birthday cake pieces you can add. 3) They have lots of froyo flavors (lilikoi is my fav) 4) they have many flavors of mochi, the little liquid flavor balls and jellies 5) lilikoi sauce in a squeeze bottle (OMG!!) 6) kids play area and tv 7) cute place to chill 8) decent parking 9) a bathroom (I know, I'm a sucker for the basics. I ate at Vein restaurant and spent $90 on my bill (for just me) and was miffed I had to remember a code and walk out of the restaurant and across the building to use the can, so I appreciate that a modest froyo spot is pimp enough to offer their customers a restroom) 10) Comfy futon couches to chill on 11) alllll the types of gummis and alllllll the types of cereal, including peanut butter filled pretzels. Visited FROST Kailua yesterday (Sat) - 04/10/21 around 4:00pm. First time there. Wife and I visited based on reviews. BE WARNED!!!! The shave ice is good; plenty of flavors. It's "make-your-own". And, the price was only about $5.00 each. At least that's what I thought it was based on posted pricing. However, after taking 2 orders to the counter, the friendly staff politely and nonchalantly asked if I'd care for any toppings. (And they have plenty of toppings to choose from; great selection). So, I nonchalantly said, "Yes", gesturing to their coconut shavings. She then took a teaspoon full and sprinkled it over my shaved ice (see photos). Then, she proceeded to charge me a total of $20.71!! I said, "Excuse me?" She said that while my wife's cost roughly $5.00, mine cost over $15.00 because mine had a "topping"! I responded with, "So, I'm being charged $10.00 for a teaspoonful of coconut shavings?" She replied, "Yes" without even a look of embarrassment; as though this is normal and honest business practice. Or, maybe my question didn't register with her. I asked if she was serious. She again said, "Yes". I responded with "That is not a good business model." So, BEWARE. Get the shaved ice. STAY AWAY FROM THE TOPPINGS. Not an upfront business model/practice. Probably explains why the place was empty when we visited. Better choice was visiting Matsumoto's on the North Shore. You'll get almost TWICE the size for only $10.00...for TWO orders ($5.00 apiece). We only visited FROST Kailua because at that time of day, we didn't want to drive the 38 miles to the North Short for Matsumoto's. We learned our lesson. Learn from our very expensive learning experience and mistake. I should also note that this is the very first time I have ever left a review in my life. However, I believe it was worth it. Take a look at the photos and you be the judge. Do you see $10.00 worth of coconut shavings? If you do, then maybe FROST Kailua IS your go-to place. read more

Wow, so this place lasted since my last review! Go Yogurt Mama!! I'm really glad when locally owned businesses survive. That's what makes Kailua so special is with pushing for local businesses. Anyway, my gripe before was that there wasn't enough parking. Ask and you shall receive. Someone knocked down the building next door and turned it into a parking lot. It's not the prettiest parking lot, but it serves its purpose: provide parking. I wish there were more trees in the lot, but this isn't a review of the parking lot! The choices still rotate, which is good because it's not like they have 30 flavors or anything. I've been averaging about every other week here and while there is usually the plain tart flavor, the other flavors change. I've noticed that they do have more jelly items as toppings and the fruits have become more of the canned variety. Maybe because it is winter and not summer! But overall, they keep this place pretty clean and orderly. The best times to go are still the afternoon times so there isn't much change to that. So why not the perfect rating? Well, mainly because they don't have a ton of choices for froyo. Which I happen to really like their taro, but I haven't seen it in a while. Boo. But at least there is always plain tart. Otherwise, this place is awesome now that more parking has opened up!! read more

After going on the scariest hike of my life (Olomana), I wanted to celebrate my survival, so we headed to Yogurt Mama. This place is great. The consistency is creamy and the flavors are delicious. My personal faves are the mango and cheesecake. Can't decide which flavor(s) to get? Ask for a few sample cups. They also have toppings galore. You can even make your own acai bowl (they charge the same rate for the acai as the yogurt) and you can choose your own toppings. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. I have never had such an amazing experience at a business in all my life. Not only was the place itself clean and the selection of froyo amazing and fresh, but the service is exceptional. I left my wallet in the shop earlier today and live in Manoa, so I planned on making a trip back to kailua tomorrow to retrieve it. I heard a knock on my door this evening and it was the owner bringing my wallet to me!! He drove all the way from kailua to give me my wallet by hand and I was shocked. The dedication to providing such amazing service is unheard of these days. I will be coming back here many more times and can't wait to share this gem with everyone I cross paths with. Here is my experience: Place is super nice and cozy inside, service is also good too... BUT the yogurt sucked! :( Most of them were super watery and the flavor was bad too... i tried the matcha and it was a thumbs down so decided to just play safe and get the tart plain favor and it didnt have enough flavor! Also i didnt like that you cant really put a little of toppings to your yogurt because they have this dispensers that gives you a set amount! Booo!! Lots of great flavors, and probably the largest topping bars I have ever seen! Parking lot is a little small, so parking could be tricky. Location is convenient and there is plenty of parking in the area. The flavors are really well crafted and perfectly sweetened. I enjoyed the fruity flavors and the oreo creme was heavenly. I can't get enough! They also do shakes and coffee drinks. The lighting is really neat and looks frosty, but I have to agree with another reviewer that the cleanliness of the place could have been a bit better. We went there on Sunday after the food service establishments opened up after quarantine. The place is so disgustingly dirty. The surfaces throughout the entire place were dirty and had not been wiped. I had to put napkins on the tables just to rest my forearm after paying for our yogurt. The square chip card system on the ipad was also filthy and the screen had caked stuff all over the screen I tipped the cashier Cameron 15% because i didnt want to keep clicking on buttons and thought I'd give her a break after probably having been unemployed.
