Not gonna lie, as someone who travels a lot and loves coffee finds, this place let me down. I figured in a cold northern area they would know how to do coffee right. I haven't found once place on my winter vacation that knew coffee like Florida. So kinda disappointing. The coffee flavor wasnt there, it wasn't hot enough, and the size was just not enough. They left almost 2 inches of room when you took the lid off, so paid for a large but really got a medium. Wish this review could have been better. I can only say I tried one item~ it was the maple cream coffee, in a small with oat milk as the substitute ~ didn't taste the maple and tasted more like the coffee with creamy notes. I definitely needed this and it was good~ just not what I expected. We went here to grab coffee and a quick bite before heading out for a hike. The workers are incredibly rude, the service was very slow. It took 20+ minutes for us to get a cappuccino and an iced latte. The bagels took even longer to come and were meh taste wise. Parking is extremely limited so we had to park way down the street. The ambience is anything but pleasant. The rudeness of workers plus the super loud environment with limited seating space makes it difficult to get any work done or focus on work (literally one of the reasons why people sit at coffee shops instead of just picking up coffee to go). Lovely local coffee shop that took care of my craving for a festive latte drink, pastry, and biscuit breakfast sandwich. Star of the show was the apple fritter. Turns out they no longer off the pop tart so I went with the apple fritter and all I can say is wow. Chunks of apple were perfectly baked together with cinnamon and frosting. Perfect Combo of crusty outside and soft inside. So good! The gingerbread latte was foamy with a great spice to it even though it is a little on the sweet side. Their iced coffee had a nice balance of acidity and bitterness and the quality of beans were great as they roast their own. The vegetarian egg cheese sausage biscuit was well seasoned. The homemade biscuit had a nice crumb to it and very enjoyable. Online ordering was not working that day so it was a bit of a wait. Inside was bright and inviting - natural wood panelling, floral mural, and lots of windows. You can work here - WiFi and outlets but they have rules for no calls and there is a 2 hour limit. There is also a spacious outdoor patio for seating for nice days and a small parking lot if you are driving. During our short stay in North Conway, my husband and I found this great coffee shop. Bonus points for early opening time since we are early risers. Great cappuccino, very nice staff. We also tried their winter spice latte (I may have gotten the name wrong), but it's their own spice blend. It was delicious but my husband was kind of unwilling to share! Visiting from out of state and stopped in before exploring the town for the day hoping for some good coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Coffee was okay not the worst and not the best I've had. They did have a good amount of seasonal coffees. Had a pumpkin spice latte and it was fair. However, it took forever to get my coffee despite the amount of staff working and lack of people in front of me. My husband ordered a black coffee and he stated it was terrible and defiantly burnt and from the bottle of the pot. And again for just a hot black coffee it took a long time to get this from the staff. We were unable to order any type of breakfast sandwich because Frontside pre makes all the breakfast sandwiches and do not make anymore once they are sold out of those pre made ones. Small space inside but there is seating outside which was nice. Tried the croissants because that was the only thing able to be ordered for breakfast besides cookies and those were okay. Horrifically overpriced; I didn't even get what I ordered. I ordered a strawberry banana SMOOTHIE. What I got was almost resemblant of a red hawaiian shaved ice. No banana, probably no strawberries, either, but something syrupy mixed with blended ice... A smoothie is not made like this, especially when you charge $7-8 for a small cup. What a rip-off!! Pretty good coffee and nice baked goods. I tried a bagel with cream cheese as well as a maple scone. The maple scone was very tasty, fresh, although on the sweet side. The bagel was freshly baked and had really good flavor, light and soft and not dense at all. The coffee was very good but a bit on the dark/strong side. Not bitter; felt slightly acidic. This is really a taste preference of the beans themselves, and there was truly nothing wrong with the cappuccino I ordered, it was made perfect to order. Coffee and food orders came out super fast, less than 5 min despite the place having a steady stream of customers on a busy Saturday morning. The staff was extremely polite, friendly, and professional all around. The cafe was super clean and nice and cozy. We enjoyed a window seat to watch people and cars go by which felt nice. The location is really nice. I was disappointed that this is not really a breakfast-type place. I attempted to ask for egg + bagel which they could not make. They offer biscuit egg sandwiches but the staff mentioned they are "premade" and cannot be customized. Could not even take the cheese off of a biscuit egg sandwich. This means they're likely pulled from a package and just heated to order, rather than made to order. Because of this, we opted to go somewhere else for coffee and breakfast the following morning. We enjoyed some coffee from Frontside that our AirBnB host had provided to us, so we wanted to check out the shop for a late breakfast. I enjoyed a Maple Cream Coffee, which was a cold brewed iced coffee with local organic maple syrup and Hatchland farm cream. It wasn't as sweet as I would have thought, so I added some raw sugar to it. The maple scone was delicious, a great consistency with just the right amount of maple glaze on top. The cafe has a high-energy vibe to it, providing quite a bit of seating inside. We love Frontside and have been loyal customers for many years. The coffee is the best! For coffee it easily deserves 5 stars. But the disappearance of the breakfast sandwich on a bagel is disappointing. The only option for an egg sandwich now is a breakfast biscuit. We finally tried it and were underwhelmed. Biscuit is somehow dry and doughy at the same time. The butter taste overpowers the egg and veggie sausage. Will have to get our breakfast bagels at Bagels Etc, I guess. What a great place on the corner. Saw it the day before with and friend and decided to give it a try. It was crowded but they get through the orders pretty quickly. Full array of coffees and bagels and bagel sandwiches. They also have donuts. The space has a lot of varied seating from outdoor, high bar, tables and couches. So, find your comfy seat and enjoy the people watching. The staff is very friendly and do well with the all the costumers. It is a great place for a coffee, a smile and just chill for a bit. On google maps, this place had a "top rated" on it so we stopped in. During COVID, they have a great system where you go in, order and then walk out to the patio to lounge until they call your name over the PA system. It's busy, but they seem to have a tight operation. If it's a nice day, the patio is such a great place to watch cars go by on the road and for people watching since it's on the main road. We got a coconut cream iced coffee and a cinnamon bun. Both fantastic. They have fun specialty coffees. Since they're a roastery, they sell their own beans which is pretty cool. Whenever I come to North Conway I have to stop at Frontside Coffee Roasters. The staff is always super nice and their coffee is smooth and not bitter. They also usually have a nice selection of unique drinks to choose from. My latest visit was during COVID so unfortunately I couldn't pull up a chair and relax with a hot beverage while I hid from the March cold. I was able to at least get my Frontside beverage fix to-go. A large hot tea, large salted caramel latte and a medium Black Forest latte was about $11 which was probably the most affordable thing about my visit to North Conway. The store is serious about enforcing COVID guidelines and the sign on their door gives notice to all. I applaud them for making their stance perfectly clear. Tomorrow I leave North Conway to head back home but I'm sure I'll make another stop on my way outta town. There are several coffee shops to choose from in the area but if you haven't tried this one you definitely should. read more
