Hannaford was founded in 1883 in Maine. It's changed since its humble beginnings. Now it's a popular grocery chain located in the Northeast, with approximately 180 stores. They source most of their items from local farms. I've been to Hannafords in Massachusetts and now this one in North Conway. It's a nice grocery store comparable to other local ones. The prices and selection of items were also comparable. We got some essentials there during our vacation. It's located in a convenient place with other amenities nearby. Extremely poor customer service! After 20+ years of shopping there. It's time to move on. The way I was treated they don't need me or my family as customers. The one and only positive thing is their pharmacy they are kind and helpful. With 3 other supermarkets with in a mile radius you'd think everyone would matter. Deleted my rewards account it's not worth being insulted. They can be good for an oversized convenience store, not a supermarket. read more

Lewis works in the meat department. He's a great employee. I was looking for a few things and he helped me immediately . He came out from behind the counter and took me over to where it was presently stored. Without him I probably would have skipped the whole meat department. He explained to me that because of the time of day and it was 8:30 p.m. things had been rearranged. He's very efficient and friendly and you're very lucky to have him as an employee read more

I recently relocated to North Conway and am shocked at the state of grocery stores, in the valley. I have shopped at other Hannaford stores, in the past and they were acceptable. The North Conway store is totally unacceptable! The produce is disgraceful, very poorly stocked with product that should be in the dumpster, I would not even feed it to pigs! I bought bread n Monday and it was covered in mold by Tuesday, make sure you check dates on everything, especially the meat and poultry. dont expect to get more than two days from the cold cuts from the deli, before they go slimy. Hannaford, in general, is considered a good grocery store, in New England, but this store has serious management issues! Market Basket is building a new store, down the street and beware Hannaford because when they open (can't be soon enough) they will EAT YOUR LUNCH!! read more

Standard Hannoford but not staffed correctly for a Friday evening. Check out lines were more than 20 deep even for self checkout. A couple staff members milling about not doing anything, almost just watching the unruly crowd swell. read more

They had most everything we needed, and didn't have some items...unusual, and I suspect it won't happen again the next visit. Another item noticed was not really enforcing mask wearing by customers during this pandemic. I know, it's not mandatory in New Hampshire. That said, it should be by the local businesses....suggestion to the staff there...you're already awesome, just protect your employees and customers. Hannaford is all about the online customer. Limited service at the deli. I was told today at the deli counter that Hannaford prioritizes the online customer more than the one in the store. I will be getting my deli meats at Shaws. They made plenty of $ during Covid. It's ridiculous. read more

So Hannafords is now double charging people at self checkouts and denying refunds? COOL. And then the bald manager with the glasses there gets disrespectful and acts like an a$$h0le and has you surrounded by other employees when you're addressing the issue. . Girlfriend went in to grab a few things and got charged twice at the self checkout. Not pending transactions, but fully charged, to which even a call to the bank confirmed that there was two POSTED charges. So being that they were rude and disrespectful to my girlfriend and telling her there's nothing they can do cuz their "book keep wasn't in", I went in. I have 15 years of retail experience, 10 of them being in management, and I know for a fact that every retail store has a electronic journal where you can see transactions, suspend, or void them. Manager was very cocky and condescending, tryina to tell me "we can't just give money out to a person for a transaction that might bounce there's nothing we can do", but I explained to him it's not going to "bounce" on a posted transaction. It only would if it's a pending transaction. Mind you since he was clearly getting called out, he had three other employees around me. Really great customer service hahaha. You guys have an error on your system and are refusing to do anything about it. And then when the customer address the issue, you act like a condescending a-joke and have them surrounded. Hannaford in North Conway is a great place to get some groceries. I like going to different grocery stores and this one provided a good experience when I needed it. The prices were low and everything was purchased for a really good value. They had some items that I did not expect that they would have and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff here was friendly and helpful and added to the overall shopping experience. Overall this was a really good grocery store. read more

I can't wait for Market Basket to open. I went shopping early (7:45 a.m.) this morning to avoid the holiday hordes. I waited several minutes at the deli counter while two deli employees pretended they didn't see me as they went about their duties preparing pre-packaged cheese and meat slices. I left to continue shopping for other items. Employees moving large pallets and carts for restocking made it hazardous as they, without any concern or caution for elderly shoppers, moved through narrow aisles. I returned to the deli about 15 minutes later, and as the only deli customer was ignored by the same two deli workers. As I waited and tried to get someones attention, I witnessEd a woman deli employee wipe her nose and cough on her rubber, sanitary gloves. I left in disgust. read more

Always been happy with Hannaford. Prices and selection are way better than Shaws. Sometimes inventory on some items is not available but it happens due to popularity with it. Most people do wear masks. As far as Jen C from Connecticut it is the New Hampshire law when purchasing alcohol everyone is carded even if you're over 40. That will also be the same at any store in New Hampshire. Know the laws before you start complaining. As far as staffing it Is an issue everywhere no matter if it's a busy time of year or not. All the employees are trying their best but when you're catering to the entitled it can certainly get you in a bad mood. read more

We stopped at Hannaford because we were going to a rent a condo for the weekend just to be able to look at some different for walls during this isolation. And to be able to look out the windows at a different view. We had forgotten to bring cream for the coffee and so Mike ran in there and he was out very quickly. I didn't go in at all but he said that it was a large store and well stocked. I asked him about safety and he said that he felt safe going in and that the store made everyone aware of the rules for safety and we're abiding by them themselves.At this point in our life we are more concerned with safety than we are with selection in a store and that's really important to us so we are grateful to Hannaford for making us feel safe as we shopped there. It will be nice to be able to go in to one of those large grocery stores at some point in the future to really see what selection they have. read more

I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked in there. Huge supermarket, clean, people seemed friendly, great selection of everything. I didn't have much time but noticed they did have organic options and even natural products in their pharmacy dept. I am a whole foods/trader joes shopper and am very happy to have this store in the area. Again, did not expect it but way to go hannaford! They also have red box-- another plus! read more

Only one disrespectful employee that I have encountered so far. The employee also attempted to put chemicals in my food. But you can't blame one employee for the store. I'll move ymto another line. While the store was very tidy, decently organized and supplied there is much to be said for customer service. The woman at the check out counter, Willow, was exceptionally unpleasant and rude. When asked if there was a store discount card to be entered she condescendingly replied how it's only for locals. As of my out of state presence was unwelcomed. When purchasing alcohol she not only carded my husband, but then further wouldn't continue until I found mine in my purse. Mind you were both almost 40yrs old. I'm curious if she would have sold to either of us if one of our teenage daughters was with us. I'm happy to show my ID, but her overall tone was unwelcoming and disrespectful from the second we stepped in the checkout line. We love coming out this way, but our business will be going to Shaw's going forward. Unfortunate seeing as we have a family of 7. Cassandra, who bagged our groceries was very kind and you could tell she was trying to overcompensate for how rude the cashier was. read more

Hannaford is the best supermarket in North Conway, unfortunately this isn't saying much because every item is overpriced and their selection of speciality items is pretty unimpressive. It is what it is, you need to buy food and they have a captive audience, but I don't feel great paying Whole Foods prices for a market that is more like Shaws. read more

I was on vacation in North Conway from central Maine, a 4 hr drive away, when I found out that I had left my Thyroid and Heart Pills at home. I buy my meds from the Hannaford store in Maine, so I called the Pharmacy in NC and explained the situation. Either they could replace them for me or I had to return home that day. The lady I spoke to was wonderful, said they would see what they could do and I should come by later. When I came buy they had been able to obtain the 4 days I needed so I could stay in NC, at the same price I would have paid at home. They were polite, and very kind and helpful. Hannaford Pharmacy in Maine is my insurance approved pharmacy, I am so glad I use them Also, I have been going to NC and that Hannaford for about 25 yrs to shop for groceries, they have always been cheerful, and very helpful in all the depts and at the check out, and that is a very busy store. Shopped today 3/30.found prices on meat out of site, the meat display looked like was being shipped to the pigary, very sloppy especially the chicken. Beef prices were awful maybe some gouging going on. Times like this is when good business people shine and the bad take advantage. Also the help that I encountered were not happy, some were rude. Clean, friendly and well stocked. We live in the area and choose this store as our weekly go to. They are great with returns and refunds as well. The produce could use a little more variety... but the seafood dept is always clean. We often buy swordfish and salmon. Keep up the good work! read more

I'm reviewing the North Conway Hannaford, but will include the Bridgton, ME one as well. These stores are simply unaccommodating. Rules seem to apply in a way that is against customer satisfaction. I called to ask if the seafood department to ask if they could order fresh Oysters in the shell - it is a seafood department after all. I was told "No" there is no such thing as a fresh oyster in June, July or August but they could get them in September. Hmmm - I thought about ordering a dozen a month in advance, but thought I might try something else!! Simply unaccommodating and stupid to say such a ridiculous thing. In Bridgton I went to the Butcher area - In huge letters above the counter is says "CUSTOM CUT MEATS". I asked them to cut me 2 thick sirloins to which they replied, "Can't do it" We have some shrink wrapped in the case". I said I would like them cut thicker, but they simply could not do it. Now, there were 3 people behind the counter all in white coats, but no one would cut any meat. I said the heck with it until I got to the front of the store where I saw a manager, so I asked him what the policy was and he said he would have them cut some steaks. We walked back to the butcher and he asked the guys to cut them and they all replied. "We can't cut" Must have to be certified to cut steaks. You would think working back there - someone could handle a knife. Simply ridiculous. The stores are pleasant, but the selection is limited and prices are high. I guess this place is fine if you want standard groceries, but they put all of these departments in the store to make you think they have specialty items when in fact - you can take what they have and that's it. There are some nice local markets that have good prices and great produce. If you need to "Stock up" I guess it's easy to do, but I feel like everyone just defaults to Hannaford since it's big and pleasant inside and there are better options. read more

Went to Hannaford twice this week, once through the speed line and once through a regular multi item line. IN both cases female the female checkout personal were sneezing and coughing in their right forearm sleeves, and spraying my grocery bags with what I can only imagine to be germs. I was then handed my sales slip, but I was to upset to try and voice any dissatisfaction at that time. I tried to reach a manager, or assistant manager a couple of days later to complain of the UN-sanitary exposure customers were getting, but was given the run a round, without having spoken to anyone. Aside from these revcent incidents Hannafords is pretty good. At my age, I just cannot afford infections. read more

This place is great to stock up on beer if you can actually get there! Most of the time the main drag through (North) Conway is a parking lot. They have a great selection here of New England beer and in particular, stock Woodstock Inn, Tuckerman, and Moat Mountain which are all local. The best part, is that the Tuckerman pricing is the same as the brewery and you dont need to travel all the way through town to get there. Their prices on beer are the best in the area compared to the smaller liquor stores which simply cant purchase on volume and need to charge higher prices. read more

Consistently clean with good service. Prices are good too. Selection is good, could be a little better in produce dept (limited fresh berries). Wine selection is great! Rest rooms consistently clean too. Nice to know we can always have a good grocery experience hew! read more

Above the muffin section is a sign that says 'Morning Magic' OK Great. However when I go there to get my morning magic muffin IN THE MORNING, the muffins I get anyway, have been there since about noon the day before,( I know because I 'marked' them once after realizing my morning muffin seemed a bit stale) Yes folks they don't make at least my fresh muffins til around noon sometime...It's just unbelievable...a muffin is basically a morning food for people, but these idiots don't put them out til usually after noontime! with a sign that says Morning Magic, yeah right....Just shaking my head disgusted! read more
