This is definitely a large store with lots to browse. You could spend a decent amount of time walking around and browsing, but the styles available were pretty dated when we went. Granted that's usually what happens with outlet stores (they carry overstock of older released items than having a stock of current things) but out of the wholeeee store, not one of us bought something or thought about getting something. This was my first time in an LL Bean store or outlet. There was a huge selection, and they allowed us to shop comfortably despite current restrictions/ regulations. The highlight though was definitely the friendly staff. We scrambled in about 20 minutes before closing and left with about 5 minutes to spare. They never rushed us or acted like it was an inconvenience, even while they were doing all their usual end of day stuff. They were awesome!! read more

Not what I expected from its namesake descriptor, unless we're talking bakery outlets. Unlike its neighborly shops at Settler's Green, the LL Cool Bean is selling returns or off-made goods at only slightly lower prices. Granted, most outlets have some of their inventory as a result of a production defect, but here, it's all this or previously purchased items. To be fair, most of my focus was on clothing, but as I tried validate the estimated actual retail value of a few items, it appeared none of these goods were sold in stores. So, if you're on the hunt for defective or returned items, or discontinued (read: void of warranty) LL Bean stuff, this outlet fits the bill. We bought snowpants for the kid because he's a kid, and a backpack (likely to be used for kid stuff, maybe even his snowpants). No real sense of bargain. Still glad we stopped in, though. read more

Honestly can't follow the hostile reviews on here. Guessing people are mad about going mid-day to one of the most popular LL Bean's out there and having to deal with excessive shoppers and exhausted product options. The secret is to go here 1 hour before close, where staff are beginning to restock and the only people in the store are usually locals (who also seemed to pick up on this trick). We've been coming here for years and can guarantee you that it offers the best bang for your buck compared with LL Bean regular stores/website. Shop smarter and avoid a bad trip! read more

This is the second L.L.Bean Outlet I have been to and I have to say that once again I am less than impressed. I have said this in other reviews but when I think of an outlet store my mind jumps to the good old days when you would wander through a shop, find oddly sized or slightly damaged brand named items for a fraction of the cost. Surprise... those days are over. This "outlet" store consisted of old merchandise that wasn't sold in their larger stores or online at a slightly lower price. We looked at some backpacks that had misspelled names on them that were marked down $7 from their original sales cost. Come on... for the $7 I will buy a new one with my name on it. The rest of the store was normal merchandise at a slightly lower price. This included a variety of clothing items, shoes, as well as outdoor gear. In the end we walked out empty handed because we prefer to spend the extra few dollars to get a new item with their lifetime guarantee. This store doesn't offer that luxury since the items are "outlet." read more

I'm happy to report I made out much better then I did on my last visit. I scored a couple of pols for about half of the cost of buying them on line. I was very happy to walk up to the check out and find no line, especially since the store was packed with customers. The key with this outlet is to know what you're getting into. This is an outlet in the traditional sense of the word: they have returns (including a lot of monogrammed items!), irregulars, things that didn't sell, and a lot of odds-and-ends. They are *not* like the outlets across the street (Settlers Green) or the other vacation-spot outlet centers, which basically carry lower-grade items at a moderate discount. The problem with this LL Bean outlet, and why it seems to get such mixed reviews, is that their pricing model is really screwed up. Some returns - including personalized embroidered items - are only 30% off. I can't imagine many people buying a tote engraved with someone else's name for only 30% off. Other things are priced the same as the regular LL Bean stores. Some things, though, are a really good deal. They have irregular Smartwool socks for what is effectively 30-35% of their list price. I found a really good bargain on a canvas tote (not monogrammed ;-)), while other totes are no bargain at all. All in all, you have to be selective and scout out the bargains, and not waste time going through things that won't be a bargain. I found the help very pleasant, unlike some other reviewers. If they fixed their pricing model, this would be a much better store. read more

Awesome LL Bean outlet. Clean, chock full of bargains. Everything is at least 30 to 70 percent off regular prices. Some merchandise has been returned, but some is just off season or unsold merch. It is all the same quality and if you don't like it, you can always return it for a full refund. Great employees, always helpful and very nice. They all seem to love what they do. This LL Bean store is BLAH. Its nothing like the LL Bean store in Maine, where I feel like buying stuff. This store just makes me not want to buy stuff. The only thing meaningful that I did was use the bathrooms. There are 2 bathrooms, and one stunk horribly. They are not very well maintained, they are like gas station bathrooms. In terms of goods sold, there are women's and men's clothes (nothing was great), shoes, camping gear, and some home goods (mostly blankets, throws). I don't know why they call this an outlet because things are not really that discounted. It feels more like a TJ Maxx, because all they sell is leftover goods. read more

The negative reviews are vexing to me: searching for bargains at this location is actually fun and a bit of a great surprise as a terrific overall retail experience, for real. Aside from the compulsory Christmas stock-up potential, I was thoroughly surprised that there are things that I would want for myself. As the Zara/H&M/Uniqlo-wearing type (lol), L.L. Bean was initially not on my radar. But at the behest of my loved one, there I am (during my first visit) at checkout buying this and that and a lot of other things that to this day I love wearing! In fact, three of my go-to pants/trousers are from acquisitions I was lucky to attain from this specific store, so the styles are also on-trend! I also saved some money from buying Christmas gifts, too. I've since been a regular, in the times I visit this friendly town :-) What's particularly of interest for the bargain-shopper in me are the gems one can discover if really digging in to the racks and sales tables, where you can unearth insanely deep price cuts. And in general, although I agree some items are kind of pricey, most other price-points at this locale seem generally fair and on the mark. But once you dig in and find those bargains, it can be well-worth the effort. I also like the overall generally friendly and pleasant service. In some cases, it's truly above and beyond courtesy, as some staff are also conversational, which is always something I look for and rely on, in a retail experience. I would give 5 stars for customer service. After I checked out and was on the highway heading south I realized I was charged $42 for $60 boots that were down to $29.99. I called a few days later with my receipt, the apologized and they happily refunded the difference. They called to confirm the payment had gone through and even mailed a new receipt to me. They were extremely nice at the store and on the phone. The store itself doesn't have TONS of stuff- but it's an outlet store- it's not suppose to. Go to Freeport for the 5 MASSIVE buildings filled with anything LL BEan that you could want. read more

We had talked about running to the L.L. Bean "mother ship" in Maine and were pleasantly surprised to find one in North Conway saving us the trip. One of my favorite places to visit whenever I'm in the North Conway area! As an avid hiker and camper, it's important for me to find good gear, and coming to this outlet, I have never been disappointed. Everything is very well organized, and everything is so cheap, which is perfect for a college student like myself! My best purchases to date have been shoes (a few pairs), some quality sweaters (not even for hiking - just to have because it was such a great deal), and a few tote bags. When I know I'm going to North Conway for the weekend, I get really excited to hit up the outlets on the way home. Each time I get excited for LL Bean as well, but every time I've gone into the store I've left disappointed with nothing. The store has the feeling of a Walmart inside, which I find odd because of the quality of the wares, but I always feel a little dirty and overwhelmed (but not in a good way). Seems there are pretty significant changes at the Bean Outlet. It used to "outlet" great finds merchandise...marked down returns, irregulars and discontinued merchandise with occasional 30/40/50% further markdowns. Now it's full-priced​ merchandise with markdowns. I spent over $200 there yesterday thinking I was getting outlet type deals. Came home and checked online. Yes, the merchandise was on sale, but it did not start out at outlet prices, it started out as full-priced​ merchandise. I've always loved getting Bean stuff at the Outlet because they were some of the best deals in Conway. NOT ANY MORE! I'm returning the big-ticket item I purchased back​ because frankly, I can get a better deal on a larger selection, down the street at Home Goods...not an outlet, but a much better selection of marked-down​ goods. read more

Awful customer service at the front desk. A sole literally fell off my L.L. Bean hiking boot and this place was no help. The sole of a hiking boot is not supposed to flap off after a short period of time. The person at the front told me she could not help me in any way. I left my hiking boots with her and I will never buy from L.L. Bean ever again. This is kind of a big deal for me since I grew up in New England and primarily wore L.L. Bean clothing throughout my youth. I still own two overpriced L.L. Bean tents that I purchased more recently, among other items. This comes up as one of the places to visit when in North Conway, this is probably the worst LL beans store I have been to. Not only is it overpriced but returns are marked at full price. Some of the Thule and Nikkon gear returns were priced even more than what Amazon had them brand new. read more

Day we were there corporate "sales" people were in the store assessing product placement being more of a nuisance than helpful. One such woman told my husband to remove his foot from the foot stool in front of the chair he was sitting on. L.L. Bean is admittedly pricey, even at its outlet locations. However, L.L. Bean is one of those brands where the price is well worth it. I came here when I was on vacation, because I had killed yet another pair of cheap hiking boots while climbing in Franconia Notch, and decided that I needed to knock off the silliness of buying a new pair of cheap hiking boots every few months. When I came to the store I didn't look around too much, but went straight to the shoe section. I managed to find a good, well-made pair of boots for around $100. Not cheap by any means, but it's been one year and many mountains since then, and they're just as sturdy as the day I bought them. read more

When I visit NH I am always excited to hit the outlets! That also includes the LLBean outlet. I always walk in feeling excited, but then I take a look around and remember that it is impossible to find something that fits. Shoes are VERY un-organized. LL Bean is known for their hassle free return policy...this location however is much different! I tried returning a deluxe backpack that I bought this past spring. The zippers on both the large and small openings get stuck upon opening and it's very difficult for my son to use! I did not have my receipt. The customer service woman that was working on the register (Joanne) greeted myself and my son with a smug look on her face! I explained the situation and handed her my I.d. She had a very hard time looking up my account as she was entering the wrong zip code! She eventually found it and then had an even harder time looking up the back pack! Stating that she couldn't find it in their system but that location didn't have the ability to look far back like the Freeport location could! She offered me a 15.10 dollar gift card....when I know I spent 39.95 on this backpack! She said they are on sale now and that's all she could do! I then proceeded to say that I would just do an even exchange and get another backpack rather than taking the gift card! She said they did not have any back packs that equaled that amount and that I should just go to Freeport to do the exchange!! Who says that???? Joanne needs to job shadow!!!!!!
