I went here for lunch and had the Chicken Burrito Al Carbon. It is a very large portion. I was pretty impressed with the taste. It seems to be a chain in the area. The food is good, the service is good (so far) but I have not been able to experience the full restaurant as I came here for lunch with co-workers. They have specials throughout the week each day. If you're looking for good Mexican food, I'd definitely take a look at this place. I will definitely have to come back and try the desserts and take advantage of the Yelp deal. read more

We usually come to Frontera when we receive buy one get one free chicken fajitas coupons in the mail- not a bad deal at all! The service here is always on great, and you get chips and salsas to start the meal off, so I don't usually leave hungry. They are familiar with the coupons and don't give you a hard time about using them. They usually have a good crowd here but I've never had to wait for a table. Just left after wanting to take my Mom for a drive and a light lunch after church. We were pleasantly surprised that is was so good. Clean, FRESH food with enough spice to make me feel like I'm on vacation in Mexico. The wait staff was extremely attentive. Nice prices, pleasant environment etc. I'm afraid that if I go to another location, I'll be disappointed. My onnnnnnly suggestion is that they should do something to brighten up the outside dinning area so that it's more inviting. Great find. (By the way, I agree with some other posters that (a) the name does not hint at the authenticity and (b) Southern Cal has the best Mexican restaurants on the planet. Worst service I have ever encountered!! I recommended Frontera for lunch with a co-worker - now I wish I had never mentioned the name of the place. We had to wait 10 minutes to get water and another 10-15 for someone to take our order. We ordered off the lunch menu - it took 25 minutes to get our food. We received no service, during that time, from our disappearing act of a waiter - no checking up on us or letting us know that the meal was on its way. Finally got the meal - it was mediocre - price was $4.99 - I guess you truly get what you pay for... We had to track down our waiter to get our checks... then another disappearing act. Finally went to the front counter - where my credit card was laying on the side board. Without a word from anyone at the counter - I signed my check, retrieved my card, and then after I walked out realized that ANYONE could have taken my card - completely unnoticed. And... they were NOT that busy... j I have sent an email to Frontera as well as sending these details via a "contact us" link on their website - after 2 weeks - NOT A SINGLE response, from either query - not an apology - not even a kiss my ***. They don't have their drink prices on their menu so when I asked about the price of a drink my waitress was unaware and asked the manager. He told her $6.99 which she repeated to me. I decided to go ahead and get it. When my bill came, it was $10.99 because it was a big one and not a small one. When I brought it to the waitress and the managers attention, no one offered me anything other than a "sorry, that's the small drink price" and forced me to pay it despite their wrong doing. Best Mexican restaurant in the area by a long way. The margaritas are fantastic and the food is great. The place is really kid-friendly, so it is a perfect place to bring small kids when you want to go out to eat. I am not a food or restaurant critic but this is one of the best Mex-Mex grill. (Try the Chicken Fijitas-excellent!!) We have tried different Mexican restaurants,but always come back. We have been going to this location since it opened(2002 ?) and seen a lot of changes (Management,personnel and some Menu) but they always make us feel at home. Went to have dinner with my family today, we had to wait for almost 20 minutes before our server came to the table (after she heard me go to the hostess to ask for a server). It took her another 15-20 minutes before getting our drinks out even though they were served at the bar, our food order didn't take that long but she forgot my son's beans, and finally took forever to bring our check. As a former server, this is not a good image for the staff or the restaurant. I have been here several times and the last 2 times have not been that great. I go here all the time and have never had an issue with the food or the staff here. Other people in my family have gone too and at times, some of the staff even know they're part of my family. They get my order out within ten minutes when I want to take it home with me, and when I eat inside, the customer service is also really good. This place has become one of my favorite chain restaurants to go to regularly, and they never disappoint with how great their burritos are. They taste on par with ones I've had from more local Mexican restaurants to be honest. Very disappointing experience. They left food out of my ToGo order. When I called up the host politely told me I could come pick up my burrito. When I got there I was asked for my receipt (understandably) which I did not have. I checked before coming back to the store to make sure it was paid for and told the host over the phone it had been. He called over the manager who came over and rudely told me I must have my receipt. Working in food service I asked if she could simply pull up the receipt to verify I had paid for the burrito. (Every system had the capability to look at orders and payment history) She told me there were too many orders even though the store was slow. She preceded to argue with me. My receipt was sitting on the desk and after pointing it out she recalled the receipt which showed I had paid. Instead of arguing she could have easily just looked it up in the system. She promptly handed me my burrito and did not apologize for leaving out the food or for her attitude that gave off the feeling that she believed I was cheating them out of an already made burrito. Over the past 10 or 12 years my family and I have frequented this restaurant for several reasons. The first was the convenience to the Gwinnett Arena (now known by a different name). Being right across the road from the arena before we went to hockey games was perfect. A nice start to the evening in front of us. We don't live in the immediate area. There are several Frontera restaurants closer to us but we have found better service at the Sugarloaf location in the name of Jessica. We first met her at the Loganville location when it opened several years ago. She was phenomenal then and is still amazing at Sugarloaf today. She gives incredible service. Always knows when to ask questions without interrupting our table conversation. Our drinks are never empty and I have a craving for red sauce that I don't even have to even ask for anymore. Jessica knows to just bring it. An amazing experience when Jessica is assigned to our table or when she is the bartender and we sit there. Kudos to Jessica and Frontera should be extremely grateful to having her on their staff. read more

The worst Mexican food I've ever had. Period. The only thing I enjoyed were the free chips and salsas. The tacos I had were overly soggy and didn't have much flavor. I tried my friend's steak fajitas, which were tough and way too salty. I also took a bite out of the burrito, and it tasted like something you could get from Taco Bell. Gross. I'd much rather go to one of the other Mexican restaurants nearby (like Los Taqueros Hermanos). Pass! read more

Visited your Sugarloaf location on 7/18. Immediately walked in and noticed the restaurant was extremely slow. We received chips and salsa and our waitress came over several moments later after that. I immediately noticed while taking our order that she isn't too familiar with the menu but she managed. The waitress came over with the cheese dip we ordered and never returned after that. We observed her walking around chatting with her workers and it wasn't until she walked by, that I had to flag her down to get our drinks which her face expression showed she forgot. While waiting for our food which took a long time to come out, I assume because we were a party of 6, but we mostly just ordered tacos. Our waitress along with several team members consist of waitress, hostess, and kitchen team members while we were waiting were seen standing around having personal conversations. My friend decided to get up to retrieve a menu to order more items and the hostess didn't acknowledged her standing there interrupting and finally flung the menu in her hand and carried on to their personal conversation. Finally the food came and my friend noticed that the buffalo wings with fries she ordered were still raw and the fries over cooked. We had to flag our waitress down to remove the item and attend to our drinks. The waitress took the plate made a hand gesture to the other coworkers and went to the kitchen and re-plated the wings and they all sat in a booth not far from us and ate the wings. This was extremely unprofessional and disturbing. We even took a picture where you can see our waitress sucking the chicken wing sauce from her fingers. They were loud and having fun just eating away while everyone was waiting for service. No one was attending the hostess stand and even some of the cooks decided to come out to hang. We noticed the general manager coming out of the kitchen sipping on soda watching his team and going back into the kitchen. Our waitress noticed that we were staring at her and came over and we told her we are still waiting for our drinks and would like to see the general manager. The gentlemen we saw earlier comes over and we explained everything. There were no empathy, no acknowledgement, just kept saying ok sorry. I also mentioned is this because he's busy in the back and don't know what's going on? He didn't answer. It's obvious that the management here is the problem. A great manager should lead by example. He didn't know how to respond to everything we pointed out. He allows his employees to do whatever they want and don't have any respect for his customers, being professional, and maintaining a business. There was only 1 worker at the bar that was truly working while everyone else was hanging out. You can see there were tables that needed to be cleaned, other customers needing attention, and food coming out slowly. After he walked away he stopped at the table of employees and made a comment and they all started to laugh. If your not passionate about customer experience, running a business, treating customers with respect, then I suggest that he seek employment at an establishment like Burger King. I read your history and mission and this restaurant and their management failed to fulfill it. Our philosophy: "Everyone leaves Happy" is something we live by at all times. Yep did not happened. I enjoy visiting your Suwanee location. Please have someone come out and observe this location you will be happy that you did. Sadly to say the customer service at this location has always been horrible but today exceeded the worst it could get. read more

Very poor service from our server, decided to come since it was recommended by my daughter. I asked my server what the mexican dip was and he didnt know, we asked for a specific beer and he didnt know if they carried it, we had to ask another server for chips, for 2 more beers, and finally he chose to walk by our table more than 10 times and not pick up the empty plates, it wasnt until we all were done and paid when he started to take the plates. I have to say, the food here is great! I have had tacos de asada several times from Frontera and they definitely do the tacos justice. The reason I have chosen 2 stars is because I was ripped off big time on the large margarita pitcher I ordered for me and one other. I've never split a pitcher of margaritas with someone and not at least felt a slight buzz. On the first sip I knew it was just the mix because tequila has a distinct flavor (you know what I'm talking about). I guess I look young or something and the bartender judged us as soon as we walked in because we paid $19.95 for a large pitcher of margarita mix and ice. I will definitely eat at Frontera again but I will not EVER order a pitcher of margaritas there again. read more

My dad and I have a stand lunch here every week. We have been coming here for several years. The servers are always friendly. The food is normally very good for a chain. Prices are very reasonable. Our favorite is the speedy Gonzales with just rice. The Pollo Ranchero is also very good. read more

I believe I've experienced some of the best and some of the worst Mexican food in the US and in Mexico. Our experience here wasn't the worst, but it definitely deserves worse than Yelp's "Meh. I've experienced better" 2-star description. What was right? Service was good. Chips were good. Salsa was good (roasted pepper salsa was included). Guacamole and charro beans were pretty good. What was bad? The Ranchero sauce was REALLY spicy hot. I like hot and spicy. But, wow, this stuff was really hot. It had they kind of heat that creeps up on you after you swallow, so initially she wasn't sure what was spicy. My wife generally loves to order chicken ranchero because the sauce is mild. Two bites and she was done. I ordered three encheladas. The sauce was very bland. Fillings were bland. Enchelada sauce can be awesome with great aroma and flavor. This was just - meh. Not foul. Just meh. We switched plates. She, too, noticed that the encheladas were very bland. Then the waiter asked if everything was OK since we switched. We explained that the ranchero sauce was really hot. So she brought out a replacement with sauce on the side. Without the sauce, the chicken was very dry (it was pre-cooked sitting waiting on an order). The cook came to visit and didn't seem to know that ranchero sauce isn't normally spicy in the US. The next day, I enjoyed the leftover charro beans and rice more than the meal at the restaurant. read more

We walked in on a Sunday eager to eat a nice fresh dinner. The wait staff was polite and our order was quickly brought to the table. Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. I ordered the Citrus Salad which listed a variety of fruits with grilled chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken was actually petrified. It looks like small cubed chicken scraps that were recooked to a hard dry speck. I removed the chicken and then tried the fruit. They were mushy and definitely not fresh. They tasted like the scraps of over ripened fruit. I have had better quality at a fast food restaurant. I was so disappointed. NIce staff, but poor quality food. read more

I ate at this restaurant on Friday, Nov. 13th at around 6:00 pm while visiting the area from out of town. Server was courteous & the food was decent. My main concern for posting a review online is that I am curious if there were any other customers that ate at this restaurant that same night that may have had their bank accounts hacked? Server took our cards & swiped them in the back, so I never saw the transaction & it seemed to take awhile to close out our tabs. I am still trying to recoup my $$ that was stolen by the hacker, that I believe was an employee at this restaurant. Online charges were made to my bank account where the person had to have the "3 digit security code", which I believe was stolen while my card was in possession at this restaurant. Comments?
