Best Cuban sandwich! Delicious yellow rice and fresh salsa. In the hot summer their frozen mango margaritas can't be beat!

First the good. The food was well prepared and flavorful. Now the bad. I have been inundated with ads from this restaurant about their $2 off Tapas menu on Mondays. We decided to give it a try. 5 tapas items. That is it. One of which is fried potatoes. What a disappointment. I expected a much larger selection. We ordered Picanha (grilled steak) see photo. I opted for the calamari tacos, which were excellent. The place was basically empty, and it took me a long time to get my servers attention for a refill on my soda. They brought us more chips, but I had to ask for salsa although the bowl on the table was empty. Overall, I was disappointed in the tapas selection being so limited when it is being so heavily advertised. As stated the food was good, although $8 for a bowl of queso is a bit much imo. read more

Wow! This is an unexpected gem that we're SO happy to have tried. We will most definitely be back to try everything on the menu! I'm not typically much of a meat eater, so the fact that I ate a bunch speaks volumes -- the beef and chicken were well marinated, flavorful, juicy, and tender. The beans and rice were also perfectly seasoned and cooked. The queso dip and ceviche were also top notch. The vibe is cozy, casual and the service was above and beyond. I have not enjoyed a Cuban restaurant as much but the service and food at Armando's has made me change my mind. We ordered yucca fries, ceviche and their vegetarian paella. There are plenty of parking spaces outside, internal decor is nice with taste. The service was quick and courteous. I decided to have a glass of HomeMade Sangria to treat myself, which was very refreshing with almost no alcohol taste. The we ordered two Authentic Spanish Paellas: Paella de Mariscos and Paella Valenciana, and one Cuban Grills: Picadillo a la Cubana. I liked my Paella Valenciana better, although it tasted like paellas shared cooked rice with same ingredients, the difference was Paella de Mariscos had salmon, scallops and mussels, Paella Valenciana had baked chicken thighs and sausages. They all were very delicious and authentic, since I had them in Madrid and Barcelona. Came in here after working out at LA Fitness. I used to live on Peachtree Industrial Blvd just north of Pleasant Hill. I'd see all the people packing the Armando's taco stand drive thru and I have gotten to go tacos there often. This was my first time visiting the actual restaurant. We were seated, chips and individual salsa dishes came out and we got drinks ordered. Sadly I didn't get our server's name but he was on top of everything we needed and asked for. Not super busy, but they have a very extensive menu that you can choose from. I went with a beef burrito that came with rice and black beans. My buddy had a chorizo sandwich that came with the same. The sandwich is huge. Looked tasty. I ate my burrito and only had a small portion of rice and beans. Nice to have an option that isn't refried beans (ever since I learned they're not very healthy). The burrito was foil wrapped like you could walk down the street with it. Not super expensive, but if you prefer getting tacos and eating at home...the drive thru is the place to go. However, the restaurant provides more tasty options, and I will absolutely next time get an appetizer like queso and chorizo! A great spot to get some margaritas, by the look of the bar also. Shoot, we have been a huge fan but the last 3 times have been bad. First we came for a 8 person bday dinner and after finally taking our order 30 minutes after we arrived we waited and saw everyone around us get their food first. When we asked for help from a small guy working, he simply pointed to our server. Next order was delivery which didn't come and after 1 hr we called and they stated for some reason since we ordered through Armando's site for preferred service the order was never sent to door dash. 2 days ago we ordered pickup and we found chicken nachos with no cheese and wifes shrimp fajitas had double black beans no rice which isn't what we ordered. Met up with some friends at Armando's for the first time. There was 20 mins wait but they decided to put some tables together in the bar area for us and were sat immediately. Armandos has a mixture of Cuban and Mexican food along with a full bar. We gathered there for national margarita day and it was a great decision.Their margaritas are muy delicioso ! The price point is a little higher than some places but they were worth it! They have many choices of margs, beers, and other cocktails. Our waitresses name was Clara and she did a great job keeping up with the 6 of us. They do serve you chips and salsa when you first sit down. You have to be careful though because their salsa is very addictive. I'm a huge fan of salsa and I will say theirs is now one of my favs. Their menu has many options so we all ordered different things. I was in between on what I should order so I asked our waitress her personal opinion which led me to the steak quesadilla. The quesadilla was a great choice. I loved the way they seasoned the steak and it was served with black beans and rice. We got there around 6ish on a Saturday and left around 9. They got pretty busy around 7:30 up until we left. I appreciated that we didn't feel rushed out the restaurant since they got so busy. We all really truly enjoyed our food and the whole experience at Armandos. I've been coming here for years and just realized I have never left them a review! This place is a favorite among locals for many years. If you're looking for a Caribbean Cuban food this is a great place to check out the next time you are in Duluth. We've had everything from arroz con pollo, paella, chicken enchiladas, salmon burritos, tacos, soup, Cuban sandwiches,and the list goes on. Flavors are great, the food quality is consistent the service is spot on. I recommend ordering the sangria margarita which is not on the menu. Let's start with the COVID-19 measures that Armando's has in place. Armando's staff all wear masks and gloves, make sure that customers don't sit directly next to each other, and clean and disinfect tables and chairs after each customer. I really like the menu idea... They stopped printing their menus, in lieu of a laminated and taped down QR code. The QR code allows your phone to scan the QR and pull up their menu in the web page. The only problem with their COVID-19 measures is that they left the Salt, pepper, and sauce is on the table. Most places are taking those to the back and storing them unless customers specifically ask for them. Plus, they are keeping low amounts of salt and pepper in the shakers so that they don't waste salt and pepper- etc. Hi, being me, don't actually mind this, but some people do. So, I figured I would mention it here. Next, let's talk about the salsa and chips! The salsa is very mild, but flavorful. They add cilantro to their salsa which gives it that nice, fresh pep! However, they do not add too much cilantro. So, if it's not your favorite, it probably won't bother you here. I feel like they had just the right amount to accent the salsa. My dad said that the chicken consommé soup was basically "Mexican-flavored chicken soup", but that would be ridiculous! Only cannibals would add Mexicans to their soup! Seriously, though, he said the soup was just "so-so" and "nothing to write home about". As I was looking at the menu I found their empanadas and ordered 1 beef and 1 chicken. They come with the delicious, cilantro-Mayo sauce that so many Cuban places serve. The chicken was pretty good, but the beef was fantastic. The beef was so tender, that it kind of melted in my mouth as I ate it. Both paired very well with the sauce. My dad really liked the sauce as well! Comparatively, their beef empanada was better than the beef empanadas that I've had at some other Cuban-only places. Finally, my steak sandwich was just OK. Most of what was on the sandwich were sautéed peppers and onions. I'm not sure why I didn't come with much steak, but the steak in the sandwich was actually quite delicious once I found some. Outside of the lunch special, I probably wouldn't order that sandwich... Most of their sandwiches are priced at $12-$13. I would definitely be upset if I paid $12-$13 for the sandwich that I got. Overall, Armando's is OK but not fantastic. I think they excel at some things like the beef empanada and knowing when enough is enough with cilantro, but they need to work on some of their dishes. I'll probably give them another shot, but the reason we went today was because my dad wanted to eat there and he hadn't been there in about five years. The service was excellent. The food was good. I really enjoyed the Traditional Cubano sandwich but found the salmon in the Paella de Marisco a little too fishy. It kind of overwhelmed the rest of the dish. Having said that, the mussels, calamari, scallops, and shrimp was perfectly cooked. The chips and salsa are also very delicious. We ate here with another couple as we were all hungry and were in the mood for some Spanish food. This was the closet, so it was the go to. Upon ever wrong the restaurant it wasn't busy and we were seated rather quickly. You do get complimentary chips and dip (which was the chunky and not watery kind) mostly authentic and we ordered quest to go with it. The items are made to order and I believe that we also order an appetizer of empanadas. The beef were the best in my opinion. Everyone's meal was flavorful and a heaping portion. Definitely enough for left overs. I didn't get any drinks but my friends did and they said they were made well. I ordered the paella for one and it came in a steaming hot lodge iron pan, placed on a trivet. Quality Caribbean cuisine and atmosphere is where it should be. Very chill and fun. This place can get really packed during peak hours so try to plan ahead if you can. Popular among the locals and working crowd in the area. The food ha alot of flavor to it. You can't go wrong with the paella, burritos, and fajitas. The meat is very tender and if you order the chicken, it easily comes off the bone. The amount they give is very generous and you'll leave satisfied for sure. CHEAT DAY!!! LOL I saw this restaurant on one of the local news channels, that does reviews of local eateries and gives something called "The Golden Spatula Award." Sort of impressed, intrigued but skeptical, I decided to put them on my calendar for Cheat Day. Let me tell you, they were GREAT! Though tempted to try everything LOL I had the paella and it was really good. I have had paella in Miami, I have had paella in Spain and I have had paella on Roswell Road this paella was really good. Not as good as Spain or Miami but good. If anything was missing, it was that crunchy bottom of the paella. You get that when it is cooked in a cast-iron skillet. Not a deal-breaker though. I DESTROYED it! LOL It comes in portions of one person or two I got the single person portion and it was plenty. My dinner plans tonight are taken care of if not my lunch for tomorrow as well. Although I did take out they gave me fresh chips and some good salsa. There seemed to be a steady stream of customers coming in and out most of whom seemed like regulars. The service was friendly and very accommodating, another plus. Overall I think that I will be back again on another cheat day to try more things. This was our third time coming in for lunch these past few months. Once again, they knocked it out of the park. You are greeted with chips and salsa. Their salsa is really good. Not too spicy but full of flavor. I have ordered the carnitas platter every time because it is so delicious. You get big chunks of roasted pork, black refried beans and rice, some sour cream and pico. The pork falls apart and is full of flavor. Everything is very fresh and the portions are large. The service is spot on. We had multiple people check on us at different times. This has truly become one of our favorite lunch places. read more

I am incredibly disappointed at how I.... as a regular customer for the last 5 or so years, I felt so disrespected and disregarded. I asked my server to let me know how much they would charge me for Grilled Salmon a la carte. Unfortunately, at Many restaurants of this likeness, the minimal carb options are limited. She said "so you just want grilled salmon"? Me being afraid they would bring me basic steamed salmon, I told her that I still wanted seasoning SUCH AS blackened or whatever but please don't just bring me steamed only salmon. She never came back to say they could not do that nor told me the price for a la carte. She brought me my salmon and so I assumed she worked it out as I can do that often when at high end restaurants as they deem to please. The salmon was delicious and I thought I was in heaven to have what I requested. I ordered 2 to-go meals, and my daughter and I had our meals, appetizers, and myself a premium margarita seated. 2 people and our bill was $80. With that said, when I saw they charged me $18 for a piece of salmon (the whole meal is $18), I was confident they would adjust and we could move on. However, I came to find out my server did not know what a la carte meant. That was okay because I was sure her manager did. The manager NATALIE came over and said she took off $2 for the blackened, but her server did not understand what blackened was and that they did not do a la carte. I proceeded to let her know that would have been completely fine if I was just informed so I could make an informed decision. Natalie proceeded to say that was Armando's rules. I told her that was fine... but I was not told of the rules so I could decide what I wanted to do on my own. As long as we have been coming to Armando's (which she also confirmed that she knew we were regulars)...I would have expected to have some grace. I've always gone to Armando's Taqueria but my boyfriend and I decided to give Armando's Caribe a try as well since it was right next door. Latin American restaurants never disappoint so I was excited to eat their food. It was a pleasant surprise when we walked in and Armando was actually there. It looked like he was taking pictures around the restaurant and speaking to some type of reporter or making a video about the restaurant. It's always cool seeing the owner of the restaurant actually checking up on how everything is going. We were the only people in the restaurant, which was fine with me because we could sit wherever we wanted and didn't have to wait long to be helped. We started with a couple drinks and ate our chips and salsa while we looked over the menu since we weren't familiar with many of the dishes. After much debate we settled on our orders. They didn't waste any time making our food and brought it out pretty quickly. The portion sizes were so generous which is another thing I love about Latin restaurants. The combination of the steak with the rice and beans was phenomenal and I was full within a few bites. I would definitely come back here when I'm craving Latin food. read more

For our starters, we ordered both chicken and beef empanadas. Normally I prefer beef, but since I was a little slow to start, I had the chicken. It was actually so good, that I'll for sure be ordering it again. Our entrees came out within 10 minutes. I had the paella de marisco, which is a favourite. The only thing I found lacking was a bit of salt, which was easily remedied. My husband had the arroz con pollo, which he really enjoyed. Our adult children ordered the bistec, queso quesadilla, and steak tacos. What we didn't finish, we brought home because it was that good. We even brought our tortilla chips home with us. Food- we dove into the tapas enjoying the coconut shrimp, patatas bravas, and seared Ahi tuna. All good choices and plenty to start for our party of 3. Had some queso dip but it was average. Go with the tapas selections. Well worth the bites. Two in our party ordered paella. One was the regular chicken, the second was a little more seafood and soup based. All delicious. I had the salmon burrito which packs a bit of spice. We enjoyed with a pitcher of the mojitos and they were fantastic!! Service- one outstanding standout to this restaurant is the customer service.
