Delicious fresh traditional Mexican food. We got the carne asada and flautas. The asada was a very generous portion with large pieces of tender steak, guacamole, beans, rice, onion, pepper. Fresh cooked flautas filled with delicious savory shredded chicken piled high with shredded lettuce, onion, pepper, guacamole. All very delicious. Service at the drive through was great, friendly, quite fast, we ate under the old sonic drive-in canopy on a gorgeous spring day. The building is a fun fiesta filled with colorful decorations. The food was decent but price of tacos and amount of food given is not very good. Quality and quantity slowly declining with every visit. An authentic Mexican taco should have 2 tortillas and Armando's used to give that, but recently I noticed that they are only giving 1 tortilla. I used to be fine with the portion sizes because at least I could fill up on the tortilla... Not anymore. Now you have to order a whole extra taco to get the same amount of foods worth as you might've before. At $2.95/taco it's not even cheap. Actually it's on the more expensive side for a taco. This is the Armando's that looks like it used to be a sonic, has really cute colorful outdoor AND indoor seating. Last at the register was kind and bilingual, so don't be afraid if you don't speak Spanish! Tacos de asada were so flavorful the second I took a bite- (( do y'all offer catering??? )) reminded me of tacos you'd get at a cousins wedding lol chicken tamale was also so flavorful!! Reminded me of my mommas cooking back in 2010 got me missing my momma, that's crazy! Rice and beans were pretty standard, the rice was on the slight under cooked but nothing to complain about. Very good spot for authentic Mexican street food. I mostly come here for the tacos which are excellent. The place isn't too big and it used to be a Sonic, which makes the drive thru feature very convenient for takeout. We live in this area and tried Armando's Caribe a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. But I'll be honest - a taqueria is way more our style! So when we drove by and noticed this spot, we didn't add it to our list of places to try - we stopped immediately! I pulled up Yelp to look through all the pics to decide on my order (we all do that, right?). When I saw the pic of the chilaquiles, the deal was done. That would be the order. When I showed the pic to my husband, he reached the same conclusion. This spot has a drive through, which is super convenient during pandemic times. We thought about ordering online, but since we were there, opted to just order at the drive through window. We ordered two orders of the chilaquiles and a kid's chicken taco. We also got a La Michoacana paleta fresa for the kiddo since he was hangry. In about five minutes, our orders were ready. I would like to say, we waited until we got home to dig in, but once we saw the tasty goodness that was our lunch, we just dug in while driving home. My goodness. The chilaquiles were EXCELLENT. Chips were crispy and fresh, covered with all the goodness. The goodness included crema, loads of queso fresco, salsa verde, and slaw. As another reviewer mentioned, they have some heat, but I found it to be balanced well with the cooler ingredients (the slaw, the crema). Our kiddo said he enjoyed his chicken taco, but I will be honest - I was so focused on my chilaquiles that I never even saw it. Portion sizes were huge. This ended up being two lunches for me and for my husband (but probably could have stretched it even more had I chosen to show some restraint). This will definitely be a regular stop and a regular dish for me. The proximity, speed, and ease of ordering/pick-up make it a total win for our family. I came here to eat with my boys and we all ordered SUPREME carne asada burritos and to my surprise it was so small for the price. It was not worth it at all. Everything in this burrito would be such of a regular burrito but for supreme it should include sour cream and guacamole. I guess coming from California our expectations of burritos is not of this. This is the former Sonic. There is a drive thru and fine in. Car hops are no longer an option, but there is covered parking I got the chilaquiles. It was delicious but very spicy, so much that I could only eat about 1/6 if it. Traded DH for half of his beef burrito supreme. It was huge! The meat was completely nasty with many chunks of gristle- ugh. I couldn't eat it after 4 or 5 large chunks. The flavor wasn't great either. He also had a beef taco which he said was good. They don't come with chips and salsa. I don't plan on going back with so many other better options nearby. read more

After driving by here dozens of times since I moved back here to Atlanta last March, I finally drove through and ordered some lunch today. Convenient set up here, you can park and walk inside the restaurant, or use one of the old school car park spots and get someone to come out and service your order- or just use the drive through lane and get your order to go eat at home. Popped in here at probably the busiest time, but my order was done in a few minutes and I was able to get back home and destroy this meal. First, I ordered 3 traditional street tacos- comes with your choice of meat, onions, cilantro, and a couple sides of sauce that you can use. Don't be fooled, the light green sauce that looks like it's avocado based is not mild! But it's FANTASTIC stuff to add, with a squeeze of lime. I ordered 2 Pastor (pork) tacos and one chorizo. To be honest, it didn't even make it to photos. I just dug in and ate them. Standard two corn tortillas per taco in order to ensure nothing falls out. As a side, I went with Elotes, which is mexican style corn- mayonnaise (don't knock it), parm cheese (I do not think it was cotija), chili pepper, and a squeeze of lime. Perfectly cooked, I think it was my favorite, and it came with a skewer so that you don't get your hands all funky. Also, this didn't last long. With tip, my meal came to about $13. Not too bad, but it was a LOT of food to put down for one person. Lesson learned. I can probably get away with one side and two tacos and be plenty happy. Support small businesses! I'll be back. The hours have been taken back from midnight to 10 PM. I think it was because of COVID, but hopefully they open it back up again to later hours because I suspect people would come here to eat this great stuff instead of your "mexican" fast food option 100 times out of 100. read more

Everything here is really good. The food is different than what you can get at the original restaurant, so it just gives you more Armandos options! We've had just about everything. Elotes is corn covered in mayo, cheese, seasonings. It has a tangy flavor and good against the sweet corn. Volcanos and sopas are both really good. I get them with steak because there are so many toppings In top that you can't really taste the meat. Just 1 or 2 pieces is filling. We've had the burrito and it's full of meat! What else?! This is the closest thing I have found in Georgia to authentic Mexican street food, and I'm from SoCal. Mexican street food is not your traditional Mexican food. It is smaller fare food that you would find in the streets or shopping areas throughout Mexico. Simple and easy to take with you. It tends to be street tacos(small tacos with simple ingredients-onion and cilantro), tamales, soups, Mexican street corn, Sopas (think mini tostados), and many others. Armando's Taqueria is owned by the same owner (Mr.Armando) who owns Armando's Caribe in the same shopping center, so we knew it would be great. The layout of the restaurant is small and simple. The ordering counter and menu are right in front as you walk in. The simplicity of the menu makes it easy to order, but I highly suggest asking the staff if you have any questions. They are super knowledgable and won't steer you wrong. What we ate? Tamales- ridiculously good. You can tell these are 100% homemade Torta- the bread is great and the flavors were on point. Adding some of the verde hot sauce they make made this even better. Mexican Street Corn - reminds me of my childhood going to Tijuana as a little child with my parents. Corn on a stick covered in mayo, Parmesan cheese, and chili powder. Sounds different and is, but a staple in Mexico and so so good. Pozole soup - this is the real deal. This is the cure all for being under the weather or sobering up;) Horchata drink - rice milk with cinnamon and is very tasty. It is a sweet drink and white in color. Everything we ate was perfect and is already calling us back after just a week. The most impressive thing( other than the food) is that they have a drive thru and it is open until midnight every night! Do you know how rare it is to have a restaurant in the Duluth/Suwanee area open until midnight everynight that is not a chain and has a drive thru. I can already foresee this becoming very busy. The restaurant is very straight forward. The staff is friendly and knows the menu well. The fact the food was on point, they have a drive thru, and open late, will make it a go to for us moving forward! I really hoped this place is good, because it's been hard to find a good, affordable mexican place and man oh man, this place is legit! I am so happy! My favorite meat is lengua and this place did not disappoint. It was perfectly seasoned, not too salty. We got a tongue and a tripe taco, a tongue supreme burrito, and a chicken tamale. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. The gren sauce was super spicy, too spicy for me but I did not regret it. The food was ready fairly quickly, the employees were nice.
