New Mexican restaurant. Love the decor and the music, it creates a fun atmosphere. Barbacoa and chicken is pretty good. We got the sopes and tacos and really enjoyed them.

Great tacos and fresh ingredients. I think they fry the tortillas before they serve them. No liquor license yet.

Driving…read moretoward the list of food chains we didn't have a chance to see what was left and what was right. We took a left and happened to see Taco Shop located in the front corner of a shopping mall. I jumped on my phone to pull it out on Yelp and saw the great reviews so we whipped in. Walked in and it being past the lunch hours rush there was no one in line but people were still eating at several tables. Nicely spaced out seating and not your usual back to back booth set up. At the counter our eyes were focused straight up at the large menu and navigated over toward our norm. We ordered go to, Shrimp quesadillas, Chicken and cheese quesadillas, chips and guacamole and large drink. Then immediately after paying I saw the big banner (I don't know how I missed it) hanging over to the right above the kitchen with a special for seafood tacos. Out loud I said I'd wish I'd seen that before ordering my chicken and cheese quesadillas. The gentleman taking our order, David, quickly responded that I could swap it if I wanted to. I reluctantly agreed feeling bad for any confusion it might bring on and said I'd be glad to pay any extra for the swap. He was so kind about it and as I could see the numbers going at lightning speed in his head he said it was a wash, no problem, heading straight to the kitchen to explain the changes. I ordered the 5 taco plate-2 lobster tacos, 3 shrimp and scallops tacos, California style for $15.99+tax. Y'all!! Mwah mwah mwah!!! I kid you not! Served along with pico, cilantro and sliced avocado-the ingredients were not spared and let me tell you, so so fresh and delicious!!! Just having some small talk him while our food was being prepared we learned he and his family moved here from CA back in the 80's and had been in the restaurant biz for over 30 years. We could tell. This is a gem find and one that doesn't skimp on service, selection or quality. Restraunt and bathrooms were very clean too. Let me also add there is a nice coffee and creamery also is there, set up separately to the left but we were traveling and didn't get a chance to check it. Something to look forward to next time. Some times a wrong turn can take you to the right place. God Bless you David, your family and thank you all for sharing your love and talents with us!

She helped me pick some of the tacos I ordered as well. The birria here is what I recommend the most as well as the shrimp taco. The lady was kind enough to change my agua fresca when I admitted I didnt enjoy the first one! That customer service goes a long way.

Then the menu prices become inflated without any notice. But for one of the "upgrades" or whatever the reasoning for the extra charge, it was only shredded lettuce along with a small dollop of sour cream and guacamole. It was rather sad. It's something you'd get standard at a chain restaurant like El Sombrero. Oh. If you get the consome, it will be an extra charge of $2.45. And they won't tell you that. But other than that, the food was good! I really liked how they had a separate birrias menu. Make sure you bring wet wipes because your hands will be oily. The birria sliders were delicious. Our strange total came out to be $16.90. Even with the $2.45 consome factored in, the total isn't $15.40. Since they were sliders, it's rather small. They're the size of the square dinner rolls but packed full of cheese, oil, and half chicken and beef. The beef was slightly more tasty compared to the chicken but both was just soaked with their variety of flavors. The birria quesadillas were $17.40. Even with the extra $2.45 with the consome, their math is not equaling $15.95 -- whacky! As for the taste profile, deliciousness. These three quesadillas were pretty massive. And like my sliders, they were equally oily and messy to consume. The horchata was really tasty. For a large, it was $6.75. It tasted different from other places. There was a nice rice flavor to it and less of the cinnamon flavor. Would I visit again? I think not. Good food. Prices were bleh, especially how it seems like we were charged more than their menu prices.

I've had the birria queso tacos here, which are great. This is not my go-to spot for them, but to know I can get them at any hour if I haven't eaten yet is helpful. So far, besides the tacos, the tamales are probably my second favorite item here. The red pork ones are good, although I believe I've had the green ones too - also yummy. They are nice and juicy and plump, not skimpy like some places. The drinks are also good here. Very refreshing. I ordered the steak fries recently and also tried the ground beef enchiladas. I probably wouldn't get both items again, even though they were not bad. I think the fries for me would just be better fresh if I had picked them up and ate them immediately. But I do appreciate they took the care to package everything nicely (the cold toppings) to be assembled later. The enchiladas were more traditional (not with heavy sauce or lots of melted cheese). I tend to prefer the Tex-Mex style where it's smothered. This just comes down to my personal preference. Definitely check them out if you need a late night meal option or are at the gas station. I will definitely keep trying more items from them when I need a late night meal.

Food is consistently good. Service is always quick. Ambiance is surprising for the location.read more
