When you need to escape, you don't have to go farther than Duluth. A mix of good food, service, and selection of beverages. Food- we dove into the tapas enjoying the coconut shrimp, patatas bravas, and seared Ahi tuna. All good choices and plenty to start for our party of 3. Had some queso dip but it was average. Go with the tapas selections. Well worth the bites. Two in our party ordered paella. One was the regular chicken, the second was a little more seafood and soup based. All delicious. I had the salmon burrito which packs a bit of spice. We enjoyed with a pitcher of the mojitos and they were fantastic!! Service- one outstanding standout to this restaurant is the customer service. This place is my favorite authentic Cuban restaurant! I wish i found this place sooner! Every dish i had here is delicious. I usually order the chicken soup to start off with, it smells and taste so wonderful! I can eat a whole pot of it. My sister usually get the enchiladas and she says it is the best enchiladas she ever tasted! I usually get this seafood rice in a hot plate.... let me tell you!!!! It tastes sooo goooood!!!!!! Mixed review, so this is really 3.5 stars. I had heard about this restaurant from several people and wanted to grab take-out before my next appointment. I ordered the empanadas and bistec steak cuban (no tomatoes or peppers) with yucca instead of rice and beans. The person on the phone repeated back my order and 15 minutes later I picked it up. My order was ready when I arrived. The empanadas come in orders of 2 and were MUCH larger than I expected. One was chicken and one was beef as I wanted to try one of each. My sandwhich had tomatoes, which I realized and asked them to take off. After about a 5 minute wait and the manager's sweet apology, I received my sandwhich and left. The empanadas were pretty good. The jalapeno sauce was AHmazing! My favorite was the chicken and cheese. The beef was shredded and not ground and I do not believe included cheese. The cuban was pretty good (very cheesy) and the steak had a strong mojo flavor...so it kind of just tasted like the flavor and the onions were slightly still raw. The yucca was still slightly raw as well but the garlic tomato sauce was great! I'd definitely give this place another shot for the chicken empanada alone. But would probably try another item on the menu and dine in. All the sauces were fantastic and my order was less than $15. read more

I love Armando's! In reality this a 4.5 review. Great: The Beyoncé on the menu is the shrimp corn chowder, it is sooooo good! Think of milk based soup, with shrimp, corn and spice. It isn't thick at all, much more like soup than chowder and it is so good! -There is a cream based seafood dish with all the seafood you can imagine. It is delicious! I purchased a side of rice with it (it only comes with bread) and it made the perfect meal! I just dumped the rice in it and the flavors soaked into the rice and made a delicious bowl of yummy! I'll have to update this with the name of that. -Empanadas are one of my favorites as well! Good: -The margaritas are good, but the sweetened frozen ones can be a bit too sweet. It has nothing on my margarita spot back home in Snellville, but it's good! Scene: The environment is dark, it has crowded decor but overall pleasant nevertheless. It's normally not too busy throughout the week and the weekends are hit and miss. I've been going here for years and the food hasn't changed at all, which is a good thing. Still the same great flavor and portion sizes (we always have leftovers ... except that corn soup ... I eat that all!) I went to Armando's Caribe on Friday, April 5, and got food poisoning. The next day, my knee was the size of a cantaloupe, which is a result of food poisoning. This restaurant was filthy and the whole place was a garbage pit. Don't eat there!!!! read more

Absolutely my favorite spot to go to. We have become regulars here. Everything here food wise is delicious. Also the staff are so nice and attentive. Every time we come in Alberto takes care of us! He's a great server and makes awesome margaritas! Here's the food rundown: Appetizers -Guacamole dip is always fresh and delicious -Queso dip is very good! -Creamy artichoke dip is just okay, never ordered it again. Main dishes -Lobster tacos are very good. The sauce on the tacos is a little sweet and I didn't really care for that flavor. -Pollo a la Parilla is probably my favorite dish here. You get a half of a chicken that has been marinated in a mojo sauce. So tasty! Big enough for two people, but I just take leftovers. -Combo fajitas are cooked perfectly! Dish meant for one, but two people can share. -Bistec a la Parilla- very good if you're in the mood for beef. Again it is enough for two people to share. -Arroz con Pollo- Very good and flavorful. Again a lot of food. -Paella Valenciana- The paella is pretty good, but I'm picky about my paella. Once you've had paella in Spain, no other paella will taste as good. Drinks The margaritas here are awesome! My personal favorite is the Texas margarita. It tastes like a traditional margarita. The blue margarita comes in second. I remember back in the day when Armando's was a hidden gem - I used to go there a lot. Now it's not so convenient to me but I went last weekend. It was a Friday night and the place was packed. Long lines waiting for a table. Definitely make reservations. The food is still great, service is friendly, prices are reasonable and their menu selection is wide enough to appeal to everyone in your group. We had a party of 14 and they did a great job with our group. COMPLIMENTARY CHIPS AND SALSA While I love their regular menu items, the chips and salsa were just ok. Still who can complain about free chips and salsa? :) PAELLA VALENCIANA - $13 I love paella and I have great memories of Armando's paella. This one had yellow rice, calamari (rings and rings of them), shrimp (nice size!), baked chicken thigh (juicy and very flavorful!), Spanish smoked sausage (spicy!), green bell peppers, onions, pimentos, clam juice and their own secret spices. So yummy and nice kick too. I got the paella for one but it was enough for two meals - my leftovers tasted yummy too! I couldn't decide between this dish or the Pollo a la Parilla - our server said both are very good here. Based on the other Yelp reviews and feedback from my dinner companions, next time I'd like to try the Pollo a la Parilla which is their house specialty ($12), Ropa Vieja ($10), Lobster Tacos ($11), Caribe Dip ($9) and their Cuban sandwich. This is our favorite local restaurant! We go almost every Friday night-great service, delicious food and perfect margaritas and mojitos! Lobster tacos, steak tacos, cuban sandwiches are our go-tos, but really everything we've tried has been top notch! Fresh guacamole too! Get the Armando's Supreme margarita, and you will not be disappointed. I've been so spoiled by these, I've stopped drinking margaritas everywhere else-none compare! We popped in for Carry out... Everyone was nice. We placed 4 various orders. We waited patiently in the vestibule with masks on. The staff was masked also. I ordered a Texas Margarita.. it was made with Cuervo.. not bad.. more important, no headache. thankfully I was paying attention, I gave the bartender a 20 he only brought me back two dollars. Not sure how that mistake was made but I later found out that the place is a new perhaps everyone is just, new. I don't like that they disappear to charge your card take care of money. Even the bartender went around the corner with my cash and reappeared about four minutes later with the wrong change. hola, the food was delicious! I had a Cuban sandwich which was perfect! It came with beans and rice. Each order comes with chips and salsa. each of us checked orders before leaving and found that everything was done as requested. It could be the multiple effects of the pandemic, but I was disappointed in my most recent trip to Armando's. I've been coming here for about 12 years, and in all that time this was the only time I felt let down. Their salsa used to be the best in Atlanta...yesterday it was watered down and didn't have their signature flavor profile. I ordered the lunch special Bistec Cubano, which had about 3 ounces of beef on the *entire* sandwich, the tomatoes were pink (not red) & mealy, it tasted like the chef was heavily relying on cheese to give the sandwich life, however the bread was on the better end of the spectrum. The blackbeans and rice that I once loved also tasted like their maker was apathetic towards seasoning these sides. Additionally, even though this was the day's lunchtime special, I had to summon the manager over to correct the pricing on our bill. My wife ordered the lobster tacos, which have always been a favorite, and while she said they were good, from what I saw, they are not the same quality they once were. Also, $3.50 for a Diet Coke is absurd, so I'm certainly glad that I stuck with water. Hopefully the powers that be will read this review and right the ship, because Armando's is merely a shadow of what it once was. read more

NOT A CUBAN RESTAURANT. This is a mediocre Mexican restaurant that also claims to make Cuban food. We sat down to bland chips and salsa. I was deciding between a media noche and picadillo and went with picadillo...huge mistake. It came out like some sort of sloppy joe looking mess, no raisins or olives. Huge chunks of ground beef. We ordered maduros which were good. But I would never recommend this place to anyone who wants traditional Cuban food. The service was also reaaaally slow and negligent. A great find in an obscure plaza. This place is a hidden gem and worthwhile visiting I went ahead and tried all the popular dishes and they were delish. From paella to lobster tacos-even went ahead and got a Pina colada-yum! Complementary chips and salsa were given at the start and they were crispy and great. I don't know what Cuban food is supposed to taste like, but the food here is delish. If anything-the arroz con pollo: the chicken is towards the drier side and be mindful of of the chicken bones in the dish Overall, portions were huge and enough for 2 persons. I have had this place via doordash twice and I really enjoyed it both times. I have had the Steak and chicken quesadilla, beef empanadas, and the queso dip that has shrimp, chicken, and steak in it! The dip was definitely my favorite part and the steak quesadilla was really tasty. The steak was tender and the veggies tasted really good in the quesadilla as well. I also dipped some of mine in the queso dip which also took it to the next level. Free chips and salsa. Salsa was good, not spicy. Chips were average, not fresh fried. Tostones were plentiful for a large order. The frozen sangria margaritas (swirl with red and white) was very flavorful as was the traditional margarita on the rocks. Margaritas were $7 each. The carnitas platter had tender chunks of meat that were crispy on the outside and tender inside. So great. One person said they normally don't eat refried beans but these were tasty and not soggy. Terrible experience. I called in an order for a Veggie Cubano. The bread was completely soggy on the outside, overpowered by a big glob of mayo (which I don't even understand why they put mayo on a grilled vegetable sandwich...so gross), and vegetables were all over the place. To make matters worse, the sandwich, which comes with rice and beans, was packed all together (with rice and beans) in the same container which was not a sealed container. Needless to say, the beans spilled out of container and all over the place. It makes no sense whatsoever that the beans were not packed in a separate sealed container when the order is to go. So all in all, it was not a good experience and food was not able to be enjoyed as I should have. I might as well have thrown $14 out the window read more

Two words, lobster tacos. They are fantastic, a treat! The chips and salsa are good, the guacamole isn't a paste and the margaritas are wonderful! The owner is a friendly person and even has a Taqueria across the parking lot that was once an out-of-business Sonic. Go check that out, too! Wow, that was good. We were driving to a Mexican restaurant about 6 miles farther than Armando's when we hit traffic and decided, screw this, we're hungry, and pulled in to give it a try. Not crowded (yet) on a Friday night when we arrived at almost 6. Prompt, attentive service got our drinks and chips out quick and kept us from hitting the bottom of our glasses or chips basket. We ordered the tostones to start (fried plantains) and I'm so proud of us for that decision. Thin, crispy slices of plantains, fresh from the frier are served with a ridiculously good garlicky dipping sauce. The Traditional Cubano was so satisfying. Crunchy, fresh bread held layers of juicy pork, salty ham, crunchy pickles, melty Swiss cheese, and the perfect amount of mayo and yellow mustard. I was in heaven. The kids menu is stellar for a toddler who doesn't subsist on a diet of chicken fingers and French fries. Next time I'll get ours the "cubanito" (little Cuban sandwich) so I can keep all of mine to myself! The chicken quesadilla was great this visit though. We splurged on dessert and though tempted by the day's special of house-made tres leches cake, we opted for the also house-made flan. Good grief- just go and order these things and though I can't guarantee you'll leave happier on the transcendental, cosmic level (though believe me, I did) I promise you'll enjoy a great meal of food that is truly done right. read more

I was all excited about celebrating my birthday here with my family. When they asked where I wanted to go for my birthday, it took me a long time to research because I was looking for good legit Spanish paella. I chose this place and despite how far it was from my home (1+ hours), we tracked out to celebrate my birthday and have some good paella from Armando's despite there being a closer Paella place to home, I insisted we try this place. After traveling far, the food lived up to the expectations. It was good. But a business is not solely based on the product they produce. To keep returning customers, customer service, how the customer feel and is treated is the key to maintaining return customers and sadly they left a sour taste in my mouth at the end. It was still my birthday month and that day was the only day my parents could celebrate my birthday with me because the rest of the month had been super busy with my travels and I had been planning a wedding that our schedules couldn't celebrate any earlier. My parents even gifted me there so it wasn't like we were faking or anything. When I asked if there was birthday treat, the waitress said they do a flan dessert for birthday. She asked to see my id to make sure it was actually my birthday (no restaurant ha ever made me do that because everyone has different reasons if their birthday celebration doesn't fall on the actual birthdate itself). I explained to her my situation that we were really celebrating my birthday but it's not the actual date of my birthday. Even the present was a dead giveaway. I told her I traveled far and insured to eat at Armando's for my bday. She said she's ask in the back. She came back with an even worse answer. She said, he (the manager or chef, she didn't make it clear) said "it would be too much" really!? Too much despite spending a big bill? Too much to put a smile on your customer's face and ensure they felt special. That cost too much for you to do?! I would think you would try to make a new customer feel special so they tell their friends about it and they return but after that, that got me upset that they would not celebrate my birthday when I was all excited to go to the restaurant, despite the distance. They didn't take into account how crazy busy my month has been that I hadn't been able to celebrate my birthday until then and it was still my birthday month. It wasn't like my birthday was 7 months ago. There are other paella places that are closer to me that will gain my business because of the lack of customer service that did not make my day and worse yet, made my birthday celebration a dud. This is the first year, I did not get a restaurant singing or recognizing it was my birthday. How disappointing. Work on customer service and don't make the customer feel bad by saying that providing a birthday treat is "too much" despite us being paying customers. A little treat makes customer happy because she feels special and comes back. No treat and making them feel bad when they are in high spirits and you can see we weren't lying, and then making them feel like we were a hassle....not worth going back. read more

We happened upon this place for lunch after tubing down the Chattahoochee River. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with smiles. Everyone so friendly and accommodating. The food was so fresh and absolutely delicious. All of the seafood was boat fresh from the Lobster tacos to the Mahi Mahi to the seared Ahi Tuna. We are already planning our next visit. read more

Nice little Caribe located at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial and Abbott's Bridge. I can always expect good food, drinks and customer service. I like to get to know the people that is serving me. I've use to frequent this Caribe for about 2 years whether it was for lunch, happy hour, dinner or out for a late night cocktail. For the last year or so I haven't been there because of changing jobs. Sometimes out site out of mind. Luckily I had the pleasure of having a lunch meeting with a dear friend there this past week. It was an excellent choice. Alberto recognized me/is right away and said long time no see. He was use to seeing me and a few of my colleagues throughout the week. Alberto is very personable and great to see each time. Antonio is another server there that is also a favorite of mine but I didn't see if this visit. Armandos has specials every day of the week for drinks and food. Imagine having a rough day, an Awesome day, a day off, or what have you. You do not have to wait for Happy Hour for a cocktail special. Monday through Friday from 11am til 3pm Margaritas are $3.50. Depending on what day of the week it is there's is a featured drink special available for dinner that is anywhere from $2.25 draft beer to one the $4 specialty drinks such as Sangria-Margarita, Any flavor Mojito or simply Sangria. If you are watching your weight but want a drink you can request a skinny margarita as well and it's perfect! I have a couple of favorites that usually always get one or the other when I'm there. The calamari is excellent, lobster tacos, mango salad ( comes with delivery seasoned pork but I generally switch it out for seared Ahi Tuna and sometimes add shrimp) and the chicken soup is delicious. They have so many other options that you may want to choose. A few of my colleagues swears by the chicken burrito which they order just about every time. I haven't had an opportunity to try it yet because I love the choices I usually get. Armandos also have weekend specials such as $4 mimosas and bloody Marys from 11-3pm. We had family in town and originally wanted to go to another restaurant that was booked up because it was graduation and Memorial Day weekend. But we were happy that was the case because it led us to this place! We had a table for 12 and ordered several dishes to share: Shrimp Corn Chowder: this was good, but the soup was pretty/too sweet in my opinion. It was a good consistency and not too thick or too watery. Costillas Caribe: These baby back rib tapas were okay. They were well cooked and had good flavor, but I didn't feel like it was anything special. Nothing wrong with them at all. Picanha: I liked the grilled steak and the chimichurri sauce, which was very much the olive oil and spices mix. I would probably get this again. Cazuela de Mariscos: this was delicious! creamy and tomato-y! I would definitely get this again. It has tons of flavor. This was my favorite of the night Paella Valencia: We ordered two orders of this. One came out very flavorful and tasty. The other was okay and VERY salty. Kind of strange. Delicious! This place is so comforting and just enough different to be interesting while being familiar at the same time. I love the relaxed Cuban vibe with great music (not too loud), pleasingly low lighting, and even an indoor fountain! Start out with chips and a nice fresh salsa. The menu is partially what you would expect at a Mexican restaurant - burritos, nachos, quesadillas, etc -- but at least half of it is some entirely different selections, like cuban sandwiches, paella, artichoke dip, fried calamari, corn and shrimp chowder, and so on. Some things including the sandwiches come with yellow rice and black beans, and boy does that hit the spot! We had some fabulous maduros (fried sweet plantains) for dessert, but they actually do have multiple yummy dessert options. This really hit the spot and I am excited to return.
